and_o withal_o make_v it_o know_v to_o the_o world_n that_o he_o understand_v himself_o to_o the_o utmost_a and_o so_o raise_v suitable_a apprehension_n of_o himself_o in_o the_o mind_n both_o of_o earth_n the_o great_a and_o glorious_a god_n bless_v for_o ever_o and_o it_o represent_v he_o in_o that_o sovereign_n and_o absolute_a power_n and_o command_v he_o have_v over_o all_o creature_n whatsoever_o even_o over_o those_o that_o have_v the_o great_a strength_n and_o power_n and_o that_o be_v most_o formidable_a to_o other_o as_o host_n and_o army_n be_v &_o in_o that_o respect_n seem_v most_o uncapable_a of_o rule_n and_o command_v for_o i_o conceive_v that_o in_o this_o stile_n of_o honour_n which_o be_v so_o constant_o appropriate_v to_o god_n host_n or_o army_n be_v mention_v as_o the_o utmost_a bound_n and_o high_a perfection_n of_o all_o create_a strength_n and_o so_o include_v all_o inferior_a strength_n of_o the_o creature_n whatsoever_o according_a to_o the_o frequent_a manner_n of_o the_o scripture_n and_o propriety_n of_o the_o hebrew_n tongue_n which_o usual_o put_v the_o extreme_n or_o limit_n of_o thing_n for_o the_o whole_a content_n or_o compass_v as_o to_o omit_v many_o other_o instance_n in_o scripture_n psal_n 2._o 8._o where_o the_o prophet_n speak_v in_o the_o person_n of_o god_n the_o father_n to_o christ_n bid_v ask_v of_o he_o and_o he_o will_v give_v he_o the_o heathen_a for_o his_o inheritance_n and_o the_o utmost_a part_n of_o the_o earth_n for_o his_o possession_n that_o be_v the_o latitude_n and_o extent_n of_o the_o whole_a earth_n mean_v there_o shall_v be_v no_o language_n nation_n or_o people_n under_o heaven_n but_o shall_v be_v subject_a to_o he_o now_o this_o name_n or_o title_n of_o lord_n of_o host_n be_v in_o this_o place_n give_v unto_o god_n rather_o than_o any_o other_o because_o it_o so_o well_o answer_v the_o present_a occasion_n or_o that_o duty_n which_o the_o prophet_n here_o require_v to_o be_v perform_v unto_o he_o it_o represent_v god_n under_o such_o a_o notion_n or_o apprehensition_n to_o the_o mind_n or_o thought_n of_o a_o man_n which_o will_v help_v the_o soul_n to_o be_v deliver_v of_o the_o duty_n with_o ease_n if_o it_o be_v right_o conceive_v and_o believe_v he_o that_o know_v what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v the_o lord_n of_o host_n and_o believe_v god_n to_o be_v such_o â—_o lord_n indeed_o can_v light_o but_o sanctify_v he_o second_o let_v he_o be_v your_o fear_n and_o let_v he_o be_v your_o dread_n that_o be_v bestow_v upon_o he_o the_o whole_a and_o entire_a substance_n of_o that_o affection_n or_o passion_n within_o you_o call_v fear_n both_o in_o the_o ligh_o or_o low_a motion_n and_o rise_n of_o it_o and_o also_o in_o the_o weighty_a and_o high_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v fear_v nothing_o else_o but_o he_o little_a or_o much_o let_v he_o be_v your_o fear_n and_o let_v he_o be_v your_o dread_n that_o be_v let_v he_o be_v the_o matter_n or_o object_v not_o of_o your_o dread_n only_o or_o deep_a fear_n but_o of_o your_o fear_n simple_o of_o the_o least_o and_o light_a of_o your_o fear_n and_o this_o latter_a clause_n let_v he_o be_v your_o fear_n and_o let_v he_o be_v your_o dread_n do_v in_o part_n explain_v the_o former_a for_o this_o one_o especial_a thing_n in_o our_o sanctify_v the_o lord_n of_o host_n to_o make_v a_o true_a sanctuary_n indeed_o that_o be_v to_o say_v god_n habitation_n or_o dwell_v place_n in_o heaven_n for_o as_o god_n have_v frame_v the_o heaven_n and_o have_v consecrate_v or_o sanctify_v they_o according_o to_o be_v a_o place_n and_o perfect_a rest_n peace_n tranquillity_n safety_n and_o security_n to_o all_o that_o come_v thither_o there_o be_v no_o evil_a that_o can_v approach_v that_o habitation_n so_o those_o place_n or_o building_n on_o earth_n that_o either_o by_o common_a consent_n of_o man_n have_v immunity_n and_o privilege_n to_o save_v and_o protect_v from_o outward_a violence_n those_o that_o be_v find_v in_o they_o except_v happy_o some_o particular_a case_n as_o all_o temple_n consecrate_v to_o divine_a worship_n whether_o of_o the_o true_a or_o false_a god_n heretofore_o have_v be_v or_o else_o have_v be_v strong_a build_v and_o purposely_o fortify_v with_o ammunition_n and_o mean_n of_o defence_n have_v be_v call_v by_o the_o name_n of_o sanctuary_n so_o that_o when_o god_n promise_v to_o be_v a_o sanctuary_n to_o those_o that_o shall_v sanctify_v he_o the_o meaning_n be_v that_o he_o will_v be_v a_o protector_n and_o defender_n of_o they_o he_o will_v take_v care_n of_o the_o thing_n of_o their_o peace_n and_o welfare_n 4._o and_o that_o be_v remarkable_a in_o the_o prophet_n expression_n that_o he_o do_v not_o say_v that_o god_n will_v provide_v or_o look_v out_o a_o sanctuary_n for_o they_o but_o that_o he_o himself_o will_v be_v a_o sanctuary_n unto_o they_o by_o which_o kind_n of_o expression_n he_o seem_v desirous_a to_o separate_v or_o set_v apart_o the_o creature_n for_o some_o special_a service_n and_o in_o some_o special_a relation_n to_o himself_o but_o withal_o make_v he_o partaker_n of_o his_o own_o nature_n and_o holiness_n the_o word_n sanctify_v in_o this_o sense_n be_v sound_a especial_o in_o the_o new_a testament_n as_o in_o joh._n 17._o 17._o christ_n pray_v his_o father_n to_o sanctify_v his_o disciple_n sanctify_v they_o with_o thy_o truth_n etc._n etc._n so_o ephes_n 5._o 26._o that_o he_o may_v sanctify_v &_o cleanse_v it_o with_o the_o wash_n of_o water_n by_o the_o word_n and_o 1_o thess_n 5._o 23._o and_o the_o very_a god_n of_o peace_n sanctify_v you_o whole_o etc._n etc._n thus_o you_o see_v in_o what_o sense_n the_o word_n be_v use_v when_o apply_v to_o god_n both_o in_o respect_n to_o himself_o and_o to_o his_o creature_n again_o when_o it_o be_v apply_v to_o the_o creature_n to_o man_n it_o be_v with_o reference_n to_o the_o same_o object_n though_o not_o altogether_o in_o the_o same_o sense_n or_o signification_n for_o man_n be_v say_v sometime_o to_o sanctify_v themselves_o sometime_o other_o thing_n and_o person_n too_o beside_o themselves_o and_o god_n or_o christ_n be_v thing_n that_o do_v not_o differ_v in_o substance_n but_o in_o respect_n only_o and_o consideration_n to_o glorify_v god_n be_v to_o do_v that_o which_o simple_o and_o absolute_o tend_v to_o the_o manifestation_n of_o his_o excellency_n or_o glory_n in_o any_o kind_n without_o any_o relation_n to_o the_o creature_n but_o to_o sanctify_v god_n proper_o be_v as_o have_v be_v say_v to_o do_v that_o which_o tend_v to_o exalt_v the_o excellency_n and_o greatness_n of_o god_n by_o way_n of_o disproportion_n from_o or_o above_o his_o creature_n only_o this_o be_v to_o be_v further_o remember_v in_o a_o word_n concern_v this_o outward_a sanctify_v of_o god_n that_o this_o may_v be_v do_v sometime_o by_o wicked_a man_n and_o when_o the_o heart_n be_v not_o honest_a and_o upright_a in_o the_o do_n of_o it_o natural_a man_n
be_v idol_n with_o all_o their_o train_n and_o retinue_n of_o worshipper_n shall_v suffer_v the_o law_n of_o their_o vanity_n and_o be_v destroy_v but_o he_o that_o put_v his_o trust_n in_o i_o shall_v possess_v the_o land_n that_o be_v shall_v return_v out_o of_o captivity_n and_o be_v settle_v in_o his_o own_o land_n in_o peace_n which_o golden_a vein_n of_o promise_n enrich_v we_o abundant_o with_o the_o precious_a assurance_n of_o this_o that_o god_n be_v in_o for_o the_o protection_n and_o deliverance_n of_o those_o that_o depend_v upon_o he_o in_o time_n of_o danger_n as_o the_o creature_n to_o stay_v itself_o upon_o god_n and_o to_o wait_v his_o leisure_n for_o its_o deliverance_n so_o be_v a_o compliance_n in_o god_n with_o his_o creature_n in_o this_o posture_n as_o it_o be_v of_o dependence_n comely_a and_o glorious_a in_o he_o the_o great_a god_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n have_v no_o apparel_n to_o put_v on_o in_o all_o that_o infinite_a charge_n and_o variety_n he_o have_v more_o glorious_a or_o wherein_o he_o can_v commend_v himself_o and_o his_o greatness_n upon_o high_a term_n to_o his_o creature_n than_o this_o his_o save_v those_o that_o put_v
