262_o 263._o that_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n be_v not_o to_o begin_v till_o the_o general_a resurrection_n and_o that_o christ_n whilst_o he_o be_v on_o earth_n have_v no_o kingdom_n in_o this_o world_n this_o forty_o first_o chapter_n ought_v in_o conscience_n to_o have_v be_v a_o retractation_n of_o what_o he_o have_v say_v in_o the_o twenty_o precedent_n and_o therefore_o he_o may_v forgive_v those_o who_o too_o reasonable_o suspect_v that_o his_o design_n be_v rather_o to_o perplex_v and_o disturb_v and_o seduce_v man_n then_o to_o enlighten_v and_o inform_v they_o and_o that_o he_o assign_v the_o error_n in_o every_o chapter_n to_o do_v as_o much_o mischief_n as_o they_o can_v and_o retract_v none_o of_o they_o lest_o the_o confess_v himself_o to_o be_v once_o deceive_v be_v believe_v and_o which_o he_o deny_v with_o more_o affectation_n than_o be_v do_v by_o arius_n or_o macedonius_n or_o any_o of_o those_o heresy_n which_o succeed_v and_o be_v the_o spawn_n of_o their_o poison_n and_o no_o doubt_n he_o have_v gratify_v the_o pope_n abundant_o who_o he_o have_v otherwise_o endeavour_v to_o provoke_v in_o procure_v such_o a_o book_n that_o deny_v a_o vital_a part_n of_o christianity_n to_o be_v print_v and_o disperse_v in_o a_o protestant_a kingdom_n which_o it_o can_v not_o have_v be_v if_o the_o governor_n and_o overseer_n of_o the_o church_n have_v ever_o peruse_v or_o take_v notice_n of_o it_o the_o defect_n whereof_o have_v permit_v it_o to_o receive_v too_o much_o countenance_n in_o popish_a country_n likewise_o we_o proceed_v to_o take_v a_o view_n of_o his_o ecclesiastical_a power_n in_o which_o he_o declare_v his_o judgement_n and_o opinion_n not_o only_o of_o church_n jurisdiction_n but_o upon_o the_o matter_n of_o all_o thing_n which_o concern_v religion_n in_o the_o church_n that_o be_v the_o profession_n of_o the_o christian_a faith_n i_o do_v first_o observe_v that_o he_o confess_v pag._n 267._o that_o the_o ecclesiastical_a power_n be_v leave_v by_o our_o saviour_n in_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o apostle_n and_o that_o it_o remain_v in_o they_o and_o in_o those_o who_o be_v ordain_v by_o they_o those_o hundred_o of_o year_n before_o there_o be_v any_o christian_a sovereign_n and_o i_o will_v confess_v with_o he_o that_o our_o saviour_n leave_v no_o external_a ordinary_a coercive_a power_n to_o they_o or_o with_o they_o but_o only_o a_o power_n to_o proclaim_v the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n and_o to_o persuade_v man_n to_o submit_v themselves_o thereunto_o and_o by_o precept_n and_o good_a counsel_n and_o the_o terror_n of_o the_o lord_n to_o teach_v they_o that_o have_v submit_v what_o they_o be_v to_o do_v that_o they_o may_v be_v receive_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o by_o the_o censure_n of_o the_o church_n chastise_v and_o discipline_n offender_n all_o which_o can_v be_v do_v but_o by_o publish_v and_o explain_v the_o scripture_n and_o therefore_o except_o mr._n hobb●s_n will_v take_v from_o they_o that_o which_o himself_o acknowledge_v that_o christ_n give_v and_o leave_v to_o they_o or_o prove_v that_o christ_n take_v it_o from_o they_o and_o assign_v it_o to_o other_o person_n they_o must_v still_o have_v a_o power_n to_o publish_v the_o scripture_n and_o to_o interpret_v it_o and_o be_v oblige_v to_o declare_v and_o teach_v the_o doctrine_n of_o christ_n before_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o king_n which_o office_n he_o have_v think_v fit_a only_o to_o commit_v to_o they_o and_o trust_v they_o with_o not_o remember_v how_o much_o more_o he_o have_v assign_v to_o they_o in_o the_o begin_n of_o his_o last_o chapter_n where_o he_o say_v pag._n 261._o that_o our_o saviour_n when_o he_o be_v upon_o the_o earth_n
