and_o love_n yea_o a_o sin-for-giving_a god_n and_o a_o gracious_a god_n but_o i_o shall_v name_v you_o but_o one_o text_n for_o this_o exod._n 34.6_o the_o lord_n there_o proclaim_v his_o own_o name_n by_o which_o he_o will_v be_v know_v for_o ever_o jehova_n strong_a merciful_a and_o gracious_a etc._n etc._n and_o you_o must_v know_v that_o god_n be_v not_o one_o thing_n &_o his_o name_n another_o neither_o be_v he_o one_o and_o his_o mind_n intention_n and_o decree_n or_o desire_n another_o but_o he_o be_v unchangeable_o &_o eternal_o the_o same_o for_o ever_o now_o i_o pray_v you_o consider_v it_o grace_n and_o mercy_n be_v not_o quality_n in_o god_n but_o in_o he_o it_o be_v nature_n and_o it_o be_v his_o essence_n and_o unchangeable_a be_v and_o therefore_o he_o do_v not_o nor_o can_v want_v mercy_n for_o the_o most_o ungodly_a yea_o the_o very_a hypocrite_n and_o enemy_n he_o have_v in_o the_o whole_a world_n and_o the_o reason_n wherefore_o any_o soul_n miss_v of_o mercy_n be_v not_o through_o any_o want_n of_o mercy_n in_o god_n no_o nor_o for_o want_v of_o mercy_n to_o that_o soul_n in_o particular_a that_o miss_v of_o it_o but_o because_o it_o will_v not_o stand_v with_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o other_o attribute_n in_o some_o case_n to_o show_v mercy_n for_o you_o must_v know_v that_o god_n can_v do_v nothing_o unworthy_a of_o his_o own_o glorious_a name_n and_o be_v and_o therefore_o such_o person_n as_o will_v not_o come_v to_o christ_n and_o that_o choose_v darkness_n rather_o than_o light_v and_o turn_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n into_o wantonness_n and_o do_v this_o wilful_o and_o obstinate_o it_o do_v not_o stand_v with_o the_o wisdom_n justice_n and_o sovereignty_n of_o god_n to_o give_v eternal_a life_n to_o these_o person_n but_o if_o person_n do_v not_o wilful_o refuse_v there_o own_o mercy_n there_o be_v that_o grace_n in_o god_n which_o will_n and_o do_v extend_v itself_o wheresoever_o it_o can_v without_o dishonour_n to_o his_o justice_n and_o prudence_n now_o where_o a_o person_n know_v this_o and_o that_o which_o may_v be_v know_v of_o god_n and_o of_o christ_n that_o be_v reveal_v in_o the_o word_n and_o aught_o to_o be_v know_v i_o say_v such_o a_o one_o can_v but_o see_v sufficient_a ground_n to_o come_v to_o god_n and_o to_o depend_v upon_o he_o for_o mercy_n nay_o further_o there_o be_v no_o objection_n whatsoever_o can_v be_v raise_v by_o the_o devil_n against_o a_o sinner_n come_v to_o christ_n but_o he_o that_o know_v what_o may_v be_v know_v of_o god_n and_o of_o christ_n will_v have_v wherewithal_o to_o answer_v it_o for_o if_o the_o devil_n come_v and_o say_v it_o be_v true_a as_o great_a sinner_n as_o thou_o have_v be_v have_v be_v pardon_v and_o so_o may_v est_fw-la but_o he_o have_v also_o promise_v grace_n to_o ungracious_a one_o as_o in_o prov._n 1.22_o 23._o there_o convert_v grace_n be_v promise_v to_o scornner_n if_o they_o will_v yet_o hearken_v to_o god_n and_o many_o more_o like_a promise_n there_o be_v but_o it_o may_v be_v the_o devil_n will_v further_o object_v and_o say_v it_o be_v true_a indeed_o god_n be_v gracious_a to_o invite_v unconvert_v sinner_n to_o seek_v he_o and_o have_v promise_v they_o mercy_n as_o in_o isa_n 59.6_o 7._o but_o alas_o thy_o case_n be_v worse_a than_o so_o for_o thou_o have_v no_o mind_n to_o seek_v he_o but_o be_v for_o ever_o lose_v a_o very_a slave_n to_o sin_n and_o the_o very_a captive_a of_o the_o devil_n take_v by_o he_o at_o his_o will_n yea_o say_v the_o soul_n that_o know_v god_n and_o christ_n satan_n thou_o can_v not_o well_o say_v worse_o of_o i_o than_o i_o do_v deserve_v yet_o be_v there_o good_a ground_n for_o i_o to_o go_v to_o god_n for_o mercy_n and_o to_o trust_v in_o he_o also_o for_o he_o have_v send_v his_o son_n to_o seek_v and_o to_o save_v those_o that_o be_v lose_v and_o although_o i_o can_v yet_o bring_v my_o heart_n to_o seek_v he_o as_o i_o shall_v yet_o christ_n be_v faithful_a and_o will_v do_v the_o work_n he_o have_v undertake_v and_o seek_v such_o lose_a one_o as_o i_o be_o and_o although_o i_o be_o a_o slave_n and_o a_o captive_a to_o the_o devil_n yet_o i_o know_v christ_n come_v to_o set_v at_o liberty_n such_o captive_n yea_o and_o i_o know_v that_o whatsoever_o my_o sin_n have_v be_v or_o whatever_o my_o lust_n be_v for_o strength_n my_o soul_n and_o one_o that_o can_v abound_v in_o pardon_v and_o that_o he_o send_v jesus_n christ_n to_o save_v sinner_n till_o a_o man_n know_v that_o christ_n be_v a_o saviour_n that_o he_o lay_v both_o the_o first_o and_o the_o last_o stone_n thereof_o and_o that_o a_o man_n can_v be_v one_o hair_n breadth_n better_o than_o he_o be_v by_o nature_n till_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n have_v mend_v he_o and_o that_o the_o first_o work_n that_o a_o man_n can_v do_v acceptable_o be_v to_o come_v to_o christ_n for_o a_o cure_n both_o for_o his_o heart_n and_o life_n i_o say_v till_o a_o man_n know_v this_o he_o can_v never_o be_v establish_v in_o believe_v you_o shall_v see_v the_o reason_n of_o it_o present_o a_o man_n that_o want_v this_o knowledge_n he_o gather_v such_o ground_n to_o build_v his_o confidence_n upon_o that_o be_v sweep_v away_o in_o the_o day_n of_o temptation_n it_o be_v with_o his_o faith_n just_a as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o house_n that_o be_v build_v upon_o the_o sand_n where_o the_o tide_n come_v when_o the_o wind_n and_o the_o tide_n come_v strong_a away_o go_v the_o ground_n and_o the_o house_n together_o even_o so_o be_v it_o with_o a_o ignorant_a man_n faith_n for_o this_o be_v one_o of_o his_o best_a incouragment_n to_o believe_v when_o he_o consider_v that_o his_o former_a sinful_a profane_a life_n be_v the_o road_n way_n to_o hell_n then_o he_o endeavour_v to_o leave_v those_o course_n and_o fall_v to_o prayer_n and_z to_z reading_z and_o hear_v and_o this_o he_o take_v to_o be_v such_o a_o change_n that_o now_o he_o think_v he_o be_v a_o child_n of_o god_n and_o that_o all_o the_o promse_n belong_v unto_o he_o but_o then_o when_o his_o old_a lust_n appear_v again_o and_o take_v hold_v on_o he_o than_o he_o fall_v to_o utter_v despair_n and_o conclude_v that_o he_o be_v but_o a_o hypocrite_n at_o the_o best_a and_o that_o there_o be_v no_o hope_n for_o he_o and_o one_o day_n he_o think_v it_o be_v a_o duty_n to_o believe_v and_o another_o day_n he_o think_v there_o be_v no_o ground_n for_o he_o so_o to_o do_v and_o thus_o the_o poot_n soul_n be_v unstable_a and_o toss_v like_o a_o ship_n in_o a_o tempest_n one_o while_o mount_v up_o to_o heaven_n and_o another_o while_n throw_v down_o into_o the_o deep_a and_o melt_v a_o way_n with_o trouble_n but_o now_o the_o soul_n that_o know_v god_n and_o do_v see_v in_o he_o a_o ground_n to_o believe_v at_o the_o first_o without_o any_o work_n of_o righteousness_n do_v beforehand_o and_o that_o know_v jesus_n christ_n come_v to_o save_v from_o sin_n and_o to_o give_v repentance_n as_o well_o as_o eternal_a life_n and_o do_v at_o the_o first_o cast_v himself_o upon_o he_o not_o as_o a_o saint_n but_o as_o a_o sinner_n this_o man_n if_o he_o shall_v fall_v as_o low_a as_o he_o be_v before_o yet_o he_o will_v see_v at_o least_o the_o same_o ground_n to_o believe_v we_o he_o do_v see_v at_o the_o first_o i_o speak_v not_o this_o to_o encourage_v any_o any_o to_o renew_v there_o sin_n i_o hope_v you_o will_v not_o make_v so_o bad_a a_o use_n of_o it_o but_o if_o any_o shall_v yet_o be_v the_o doctrine_n of_o grace_n a_o truth_n that_o must_v be_v preach_v though_o some_o shall_v wrest_v it_o to_o their_o own_o destruction_n three_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n will_v carry_v a_o man_n through_o the_o worst_a of_o trouble_n if_o he_o shall_v come_v into_o job_n case_n that_o his_o wife_n shall_v be_v strange_a and_o his_o child_n and_o estate_n sweep_v away_o and_o his_o godly_a friend_n turn_v his_o enemy_n yet_o will_v he_o be_v able_a to_o say_v with_o he_o though_o he_o kill_v i_o yet_o i_o will_v and_o i_o can_v trust_v in_o he_o for_o i_o know_v my_o redeemer_n live_v thus_o when_o a_o man_n can_v say_v with_o paul_n i_o know_v who_o i_o have_v believe_v by_o be_v able_a to_o see_v the_o power_n wisdom_n truth_n and_o goodness_n of_o god_n it_o will_v be_v such_o a_o rock_n for_o he_o to_o set_v his_o foot_n upon_o that_o will_v keep_v he_o from_o sink_v in_o the_o worst_a of_o time_n four_o a_o man_n that_o know_v god_n will_v serve_v he_o with_o that_o delight_n that_o another_o man_n can_v do_v a_o ignorant_a man_n may_v be_v convince_v that_o it_o be_v a_o duty_n to_o hear_v and_o to_o pray_v and_o the_o like_a but_o he_o have_v no_o comfort_n in_o these_o ordinance_n but_o yet_o he_o use_v they_o because_o he_o dare_v do_v no_o otherwise_o but_o a_o man_n that_o know_v god_n see_v such_o a_o beauty_n in_o god_n that_o he_o go_v to_o seek_v he_o with_o much_o delight_n he_o know_v they_o be_v mean_n appoint_v of_o god_n to_o bring_v he_o into_o near_a communion_n with_o he_o and_o to_o give_v he_o a_o more_o glorious_a sight_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v a_o work_n well_o pease_v to_o he_o and_o he_o go_v about_o it_o with_o as_o much_o content_a as_o man_n use_v to_o go_v to_o their_o recreation_n but_o the_o other_o go_v to_o the_o same_o work_n as_o one_o go_v to_o a_o trade_n that_o he_o be_v set_v to_o against_o his_o will_n he_o do_v it_o untoward_o and_o unwilling_o and_o will_v get_v from_o it_o if_o he_o can_v and_o so_o will_v the_o man_n from_o duty_n that_o know_v not_o god_n if_o he_o can_v but_o find_v a_o way_n to_o escape_v the_o rebuke_n of_o his_o own_o conscience_n now_o therefore_o i_o pray_v you_o make_v it_o your_o first_o &_o great_a work_n to_o get_v the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n with_o all_o diligence_n seek_v for_o it_o for_o the_o prize_n thereof_o be_v great_a than_o silver_n choice_a gold_n or_o ruby_n therefore_o search_v for_o it_o more_o than_o for_o hide_a treasure_n there_o be_v two_o mean_n that_o i_o will_v direct_v you_o to_o make_v use_n of_o for_o the_o get_n of_o this_o knowledge_n the_o first_o be_v the_o consideration_n of_o the_o consider_v what_o a_o great_a distance_n they_o be_v spread_v above_o the_o earth_n and_o compass_v it_o round_o about_o and_o see_v those_o glorious_a creature_n the_o sun_n moon_n and_o star_n roll_n about_o to_o serve_v poor_a worm_n and_o lump_n of_o clay_n how_o plain_o will_v they_o teach_v you_o that_o the_o creator_n of_o they_o be_v a_o god_n of_o infinite_a goodness_n for_o before_o ever_o he_o do_v create_v either_o they_o or_o the_o man_n for_o who_o sake_n they_o be_v create_v the_o lord_n do_v perfect_o understand_v all_o the_o wickedness_n that_o will_v in_o time_n be_v commit_v by_o every_o one_o of_o they_o and_o yet_o it_o do_v not_o hinder_v he_o in_o this_o great_a work_n but_o he_o have_v do_v it_o and_o continue_v to_o uphold_v it_o notwithstanding_o all_o that_o unworthiness_n that_o be_v find_v among_o the_o child_n of_o man_n and_o if_o you_o look_v to_o the_o earth_n and_o the_o sea_n and_o see_v they_o hang_v in_o a_o round_a lump_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o heaven_n cleave_v together_o and_o the_o water_n not_o overflow_n the_o earth_n this_o great_a work_n will_v tell_v you_o that_o the_o creator_n thereof_o be_v infinite_a in_o power_n wisdom_n and_o goodness_n and_o if_o you_o consider_v how_o the_o earth_n and_o the_o sea_n be_v store_v with_o variety_n of_o creature_n with_o several_a host_n of_o creature_n and_o yet_o not_o a_o man_n nor_o a_o beast_n nor_o a_o fish_n nor_o a_o fowl_n no_o worm_n nor_o any_o creature_n more_o nor_o less_o but_o god_n take_v care_v every_o day_n how_o they_o shall_v be_v feed_v the_o wild_a beast_n of_o the_o wilderness_n that_o no_o man_n take_v care_n of_o have_v there_o meat_n and_o there_o drink_v every_o day_n from_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n oh_o how_o do_v these_o
