than_o we_o must_v remember_v that_o all_o his_o work_n be_v good_a and_o therefore_o nothing_o must_v be_v hate_v by_o we_o that_o have_v he_o make_v consider_v in_o its_o native_a goodness_n god_n hate_v sin_n and_o so_o must_v we_o for_o that_o he_o make_v it_o not_o rev._n 2._o 6._o psal._n 45._o 7._o isa._n 1._o 14._o and_o he_o hate_v all_o the_o work_n of_o iniquity_n as_o such_o psal._n 5._o 5._o and_o so_o must_v we_o but_o we_o must_v love_v all_o of_o god_n that_o be_v in_o they_o and_o love_v they_o for_o it_o there_o be_v somewhat_o good_a and_o amiable_a in_o every_o creature_n yea_o all_o of_o it_o that_o be_v of_o god_n though_o toad_n and_o serpent_n be_v odious_a to_o we_o because_o they_o be_v hurtful_a and_o seem_v deform_v in_o themselves_o yet_o be_v they_o good_a in_o themselves_o and_o not_o deform_v as_o part_n of_o the_o universe_n but_o good_a unto_o the_o common_a end_n the_o want_n in_o the_o wheel_n of_o your_o watch_n be_v as_o useful_a to_o the_o motion_n as_o the_o nuck_n or_o solid_a part_n the_o night_n be_v part_n of_o the_o useful_a order_n of_o the_o creation_n as_o well_o as_o the_o day_n the_o vacant_a interspace_n in_o your_o writing_n be_v needful_a as_o well_o as_o the_o word_n every_o letter_n shall_v not_o be_v a_o vowel_n nor_o every_o character_n a_o capital_a every_o member_n shall_v not_o be_v a_o heart_n or_o head_n or_o eye_n nor_o shall_v every_o one_o in_o a_o commonwealth_n be_v a_o king_n or_o lord_n so_o in_o the_o creation_n the_o part_n that_o seem_v base_a be_v useful_a in_o their_o place_n and_o good_a unto_o their_o ends._n let_v we_o not_o therefore_o vilify_v or_o detest_v the_o work_n of_o god_n but_o study_v the_o excellency_n of_o they_o and_o see_v and_o admire_v and_o love_v they_o as_o they_o be_v of_o god_n it_o be_v one_o of_o the_o hard_a practical_a point_n before_o we_o to_o know_v how_o to_o esteem_v of_o all_o the_o creature_n and_o to_o use_v they_o without_o run_v into_o one_o extreme_a at_o the_o same_o time_n to_o love_v the_o world_n and_o not_o to_o love_v it_o to_o honour_v it_o and_o despise_v it_o to_o exalt_v it_o and_o to_o tread_v it_o under_o our_o foot_n to_o mind_v it_o and_o use_v it_o with_o delight_n and_o yet_o to_o be_v wean_v from_o it_o as_o those_o that_o mind_n it_o not_o and_o yet_o a_o great_a part_n of_o our_o christian_a duty_n lie_v in_o the_o do_n of_o this_o difficult_a work_n as_o the_o world_n be_v the_o devil_n bait_n and_o the_o flesh_n idol_n set_v up_o against_o god_n and_o will_v entice_v we_o from_o he_o or_o hinder_v we_o in_o his_o service_n and_o either_o be_v our_o carnal_a end_n and_o happiness_n or_o a_o mean_n thereto_o so_o we_o must_v make_v it_o the_o care_n of_o our_o heart_n to_o hate_v it_o despise_v it_o neglect_v it_o and_o tread_v it_o under_o foot_n and_o the_o labour_n of_o our_o life_n to_o conquer_v it_o but_o the_o same_o creature_n must_v be_v admire_v study_a love_a honour_a delight_v in_o and_o daily_o use_v as_o they_o be_v the_o excellent_a work_n of_o the_o almighty_a god_n and_o reveal_v to_o we_o his_o attribute_n or_o will_n be_v the_o glass_n in_o which_o we_o must_v see_v he_o while_o we_o be_v in_o the_o flesh_n and_o as_o they_o lead_v we_o to_o god_n and_o strengthen_v furnish_v or_o help_v we_o in_o his_o service_n but_o to_o love_v they_o for_o god_n and_o not_o for_o themselves_o o_o how_o hard_o be_v it_o to_o keep_v pure_a affection_n towards_o they_o and_o a_o spiritual_a delight_n in_o in_o they_o that_o shall_v not_o degenerate_v into_o a_o carnal_a delight_n be_v a_o task_n for_o the_o holy_a saint_n on_o earth_n to_o labour_v
in_o with_o all_o his_o care_n and_o power_n as_o long_o as_o he_o here_o live_v yet_o this_o must_v be_v do_v and_o the_o soul_n that_o have_v obtain_v true_a self_n denial_n and_o be_v dead_a to_o the_o world_n and_o devote_a and_o alive_a to_o god_n be_v able_a in_o some_o good_a measure_n to_o perform_v it_o to_o love_v the_o world_n for_o itself_o and_o make_v the_o creature_n our_o chief_a delight_n and_o live_v to_o it_o as_o our_o end_n and_o idol_n this_o be_v the_o common_a damn_v course_n to_o cast_v away_o our_o possession_n and_o put_v our_o talent_n into_o our_o fellow_n servant_n hand_n and_o to_o withdraw_v ourselves_o as_o it_o be_v out_o of_o the_o world_n into_o solitude_n as_o monk_n or_o hermeâ—s_n do_v this_o be_v too_o like_o the_o hide_v of_o our_o talent_n and_o a_o dangerous_a course_n of_o unfaithfulness_n and_o unprofitableness_n unless_o in_o some_o extraordinary_a case_n and_o be_v at_o best_a the_o too_o easy_a way_n of_o weakling_n that_o will_v be_v soldier_n only_o out_o of_o the_o army_n or_o where_o there_o be_v but_o little_a danger_n of_o the_o enemy_n but_o to_o keep_v our_o station_n and_o take_v honour_n and_o riches_n as_o our_o master_n talent_n as_o a_o burden_n that_o we_o must_v honour_v he_o by_o bear_v and_o the_o instrument_n by_o which_o we_o must_v laborious_o do_v he_o service_n and_o to_o see_v and_o love_v he_o in_o every_o creature_n and_o study_v he_o in_o it_o and_o sanctify_v it_o to_o his_o use_n and_o to_o see_v that_o our_o lust_n get_v no_o advantage_n by_o it_o and_o feed_v not_o on_o it_o but_o that_o we_o tame_v our_o body_n and_o have_v all_o that_o we_o have_v for_o god_n and_o not_o for_o our_o flesh_n this_o be_v the_o hard_a but_o the_o excellent_a most_o acceptable_a course_n of_o live_v in_o this_o world_n and_o it_o be_v not_o only_o other_o creature_n but_o ourselves_o also_o that_o we_o must_v thus_o admire_v and_o love_n and_o use_v for_o god_n while_o we_o abase_v ourselves_o as_o to_o ourselves_o and_o deny_v ourselves_o and_o use_v not_o ourselves_o for_o ourselves_o but_o as_o we_o stand_v in_o due_a subordination_n to_o he_o abase_v yourselves_o as_o sinful_a and_o abhor_v that_o which_o be_v your_o own_o and_o not_o the_o lord_n but_o vilify_v not_o your_o nature_n in_o itself_o â—or_a any_o thing_n in_o you_o that_o be_v the_o work_n of_o god_n pretend_v not_o humility_n for_o the_o dishonour_n of_o your_o maker_n reason_n and_o natural_a freedom_n of_o the_o will_n be_v god_n work_n and_o not_o you_o and_o therefore_o must_v be_v honour_v and_o not_o scorn_v and_o revile_v but_o the_o blindness_n and_o error_n of_o your_o reason_n and_o the_o bad_a inclination_n and_o action_n of_o your_o free-will_n these_o be_v your_o own_o and_o therefore_o vilify_v they_o and_o hate_v they_o and_o spare_v not_o and_o when_o you_o lament_v the_o smallness_n of_o your_o grace_n deny_v they_o not_o and_o sleight_v not_o but_o magnify_v the_o preciousness_n of_o that_o little_a that_o you_o have_v while_o you_o mourn_v for_o the_o imperfection_n and_o when_o man_n offend_v you_o or_o prove_v your_o enemy_n forget_v not_o to_o value_v and_o abuse_a health_n and_o strength_n and_o all_o man_n have_v from_o he_o the_o power_n or_o faculty_n of_o soul_n and_o body_n by_o which_o they_o sin_n and_o shall_v any_o be_v so_o ungrateful_a as_o to_o say_v therefore_o that_o god_n do_v cause_v their_o sin_n it_o be_v true_a he_o can_v easy_o stop_v thy_o breath_n while_o thou_o be_v swear_v and_o lie_v and_o speak_v against_o the_o service_n do_v and_o be_v thou_o content_v with_o this_o must_v he_o be_v take_v to_o be_v a_o partaker_n in_o thy_o sin_n because_o he_o do_v not_o strike_v thou_o dead_a or_o lame_a or_o speechless_a or_o disable_v thou_o from_o sin_v provoke_v he_o not_o by_o thy_o blasphemy_n lest_o he_o clear_v himself_o in_o a_o way_n that_o thou_o desire_v not_o but_o o_o wonder_n at_o his_o patience_n that_o
