but_o a_o body_n of_o the_o same_o kind_n with_o they_o from_o this_o contemplation_n it_o appear_v unto_o he_o that_o all_o body_n be_v one_o thing_n both_o these_o that_o have_v life_n and_o these_o who_o have_v not_o and_o these_o that_o move_v as_o these_o who_o rest_v but_o that_o it_o appear_v that_o action_n proceed_v from_o some_o of_o they_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o organ_n which_o action_n he_o know_v not_o whether_o they_o be_v essential_a or_o otherwise_o derive_v unto_o they_o in_o this_o state_n he_o consider_v nothing_o in_o his_o mind_n but_o body_n and_o after_o this_o manner_n he_o see_v the_o whole_a fabric_n of_o the_o creature_n to_o be_v one_o thing_n which_o at_o the_o first_o view_n he_o think_v to_o be_v many_o without_o number_n or_o end_n and_o in_o this_o judgement_n and_o state_n he_o remain_v for_o some_o time_n then_o he_o consider_v all_o body_n both_o live_v and_o without_o life_n which_o once_o seem_v to_o he_o one_o thing_n at_o other_o time_n many_o and_o innumerable_a but_o he_o see_v that_o every_o one_o of_o they_o necessary_o have_v one_o of_o these_o two_o thing_n in_o they_o viz._n that_o either_o they_o aspire_v upward_o as_o smoke_n flame_n and_o air_n when_o detain_v under_o the_o water_n or_o that_o they_o move_v contrariwise_o i._n e._n downward_o
as_o the_o water_n and_o part_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o of_o animal_n and_o plant_n but_o that_o none_o of_o those_o body_n be_v free_a from_o one_o of_o these_o motion_n or_o rest_n but_o when_o some_o impediment_n hinder_v which_o stop_n their_o way_n as_o when_o a_o stone_n descend_v findeth_z the_o surface_n of_o the_o earth_n so_o hard_o that_o it_o can_v pierce_v it_o which_o if_o it_o can_v do_v it_o will_v not_o desist_v from_o its_o motion_n as_o be_v manifest_a therefore_o if_o thou_o lift_v it_o up_o thou_o shall_v find_v it_o resist_v thou_o from_o its_o propension_n whereby_o it_o be_v carry_v downward_o seek_v to_o descend_v in_o the_o same_o manner_n the_o smoke_n in_o its_o ascend_n be_v not_o reflect_v unless_o it_o meet_v with_o a_o hard_a pend_n or_o arch_n which_o restrain_v it_o than_o it_o will_v decline_v to_o the_o right_n and_o left_a hand_n but_o where_o it_o have_v escape_v that_o pend_n it_o ascend_v break_v through_o the_o air_n which_o can_v restrain_v it_o he_o see_v also_o that_o the_o air_n where_o a_o bag_n of_o skin_n be_v fill_v with_o it_o and_o hard_o stop_v if_o thou_o put_v it_o under_o the_o water_n it_o will_v endeavour_v to_o ascend_v and_o wrestle_v against_o what_o hold_v it_o under_o the_o water_n nor_o cease_v it_o to_o do_v so_o until_o it_o come_v to_o the_o place_n of_o the_o air_n i._n e._n when_o it_o have_v come_v out_o of_o the_o water_n but_o than_o it_o rest_v that_o reluctancy_n and_o propension_n to_o move_v upward_o which_o first_o it_o have_v depart_v from_o it_o also_o he_o inquire_v if_o he_o can_v find_v any_o body_n which_o at_o any_o time_n want_v both_o these_o motion_n or_o the_o inclination_n unto_o they_o but_o he_o find_v none_o among_o these_o body_n present_a with_o he_o but_o this_o he_o seek_v be_v desirous_a to_o find_v it_o that_o from_o thence_o he_o may_v perceive_v the_o nature_n of_o a_o body_n as_o it_o be_v a_o body_n without_o any_o quality_n adjoin_v of_o these_o which_o induce_v multiplicity_n but_o when_o this_o be_v difficult_a unto_o he_o and_o have_v consider_v these_o body_n which_o among_o other_o be_v less_o subject_v unto_o these_o quality_n he_o see_v they_o no_o wise_a to_o be_v destitute_a of_o one_o of_o these_o two_o quality_n which_o be_v call_v weightiness_n and_o lightness_n he_o then_o consider_v whether_o weightiness_n and_o lightness_n agree_v unto_o a_o body_n as_o it_o be_v a_o body_n or_o unto_o a_o notion_n superad_v unto_o corporeity_n but_o it_o seem_v unto_o he_o that_o they_o agree_v unto_o a_o notion_n superad_v unto_o corporeity_n for_o if_o they_o belong_v unto_o a_o body_n as_o a_o body_n there_o shall_v no_o body_n be_v find_v in_o who_o both_o of_o they_o be_v not_o but_o if_o we_o find_v a_o heavy_a thing_n without_o all_o lightness_n and_o a_o light_a thing_n have_v no_o heaviness_n and_o these_o thing_n without_o doubt_n be_v two_o body_n in_o every_o one_o of_o which_o there_o be_v some_o notion_n whereby_o it_o be_v distinguish_v from_o the_o other_o that_o be_v superad_v unto_o corporeity_n and_o that_o notion_n be_v the_o thing_n whereby_o the_o one_o differ_v from_o the_o other_o which_o if_o it_o be_v not_o they_o shall_v be_v one_o thing_n in_o every_o respect_n it_o be_v therefore_o manifest_a unto_o he_o that_o the_o essence_n of_o both_o these_o to_o wit_n of_o a_o heavy_a and_o light_a thing_n be_v compound_v of_o two_o notion_n in_o the_o one_o of_o which_o they_o both_o agree_v and_o that_o be_v the_o notion_n of_o corporeity_n the_o other_o be_v that_o whereby_o the_o essence_n of_o the_o one_o differ_v from_o the_o other_o and_o that_o be_v weightiness_n or_o gravity_n in_o the_o one_o and_o lightness_n or_o levity_n in_o the_o other_o which_o notion_n whereby_o the_o one_o ascend_v the_o other_o descend_v be_v join_v unto_o the_o notion_n of_o corporeity_n also_o thus_o he_o do_v contemplate_v the_o other_o body_n of_o thing_n both_o have_v and_o want_v life_n and_o he_o see_v the_o true_a reason_n of_o every_o one_o essence_n to_o be_v compound_v of_o a_o notion_n of_o corporeity_n and_o of_o some_o other_o thing_n superad_v unto_o corporeity_n whether_o that_o thing_n be_v one_o or_o manifold_a and_o so_o the_o form_n of_o body_n appear_v unto_o he_o according_a to_o their_o diversity_n these_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n which_o become_v know_v to_o he_o of_o the_o spiritual_a world_n see_v these_o form_n be_v such_o as_o be_v not_o perceive_v by_o sense_n but_o be_v perceive_v some_o way_n by_o intellectual_a speculation_n and_o among_o thing_n of_o this_o kind_n which_o appear_v unto_o he_o it_o appear_v unto_o he_o that_o the_o animal_n spirit_n the_o seat_n whereof_o be_v the_o heart_n and_o which_o we_o have_v above_o explain_v necessary_o have_v some_o notion_n superad_v unto_o corporeity_n whereby_o it_o be_v fit_a to_o do_v these_o wonderful_a work_n out_o of_o the_o various_a manner_n of_o sensation_n and_o diverse_a way_n of_o apprehend_v and_o the_o diverse_a kind_n of_o motion_n and_o that_o that_o notion_n be_v its_o form_n and_o difference_n whereby_o it_o be_v distinguish_v from_o other_o body_n and_o that_o be_v it_o which_o the_o philosopher_n call_v the_o animal_n i._n e._n the_o sensitive_a soul_n and_o so_o that_o thing_n which_o supply_v unto_o plant_n the_o vice_n of_o the_o radical_a heat_n in_o animal_n be_v somewhat_o proper_a unto_o they_o which_o be_v their_o form_n and_o that_o which_o the_o philosopher_n call_v the_o vegetative_a soul_n and_o thus_o that_o there_o be_v somewhat_o proper_a unto_o all_o body_n of_o animat_fw-la thing_n and_o these_o be_v they_o which_o be_v find_v beside_o animal_n and_o plant_n in_o the_o world_n of_o generation_n and_o corruption_n by_o the_o power_n whereof_o every_o one_o of_o they_o perform_v the_o action_n proper_a thereunto_o as_o various_a sort_n of_o motion_n and_o kind_n of_o sensible_a quality_n and_o that_o thing_n be_v the_o form_n of_o every_o one_o of_o they_o and_o be_v that_o which_o philosopher_n signify_v by_o the_o name_n of_o nature_n and_o when_o out_o of_o this_o contemplation_n it_o certain_o appear_v to_o he_o that_o the_o true_a essence_n of_o that_o animal_n spirit_n to_o which_o his_o mind_n be_v continual_o intent_n be_v compose_v of_o a_o notion_n of_o corporeity_n and_o some_o other_o notion_n add_v thereunto_o and_o that_o the_o notion_n of_o this_o corporeity_n be_v common_a to_o it_o with_o other_o body_n but_o that_o the_o other_o notion_n join_v thereunto_o be_v peculiar_a unto_o it_o the_o notion_n of_o corporeity_n become_v of_o no_o esteem_n unto_o he_o and_o he_o reject_v it_o and_o his_o mind_n do_v altogether_o cleave_v unto_o that_o second_o notion_n which_o be_v express_v under_o the_o name_n of_o the_o soul_n the_o true_a reason_n or_o manner_n of_o which_o he_o desire_v to_o attain_v therefore_o he_o fix_v his_o thought_n upon_o it_o and_o make_v the_o beginning_n of_o his_o contemplation_n by_o consider_v all_o body_n not_o as_o body_n but_o as_o have_v form_n whence_o the_o property_n necessary_o flow_v whereby_o they_o be_v distinguish_v one_o from_o another_o and_o instant_o prosecute_a this_o notion_n and_o comprehend_v it_o in_o mind_n he_o see_v the_o whole_a multitude_n of_o body_n to_o agree_v in_o some_o form_n whence_o some_o action_n or_o action_n proceed_v but_o he_o see_v some_o part_n of_o that_o multitude_n although_o agree_v with_o all_o in_o that_o form_n yet_o to_o have_v another_o form_n superad_v thereunto_o from_o which_o some_o action_n slow_v also_o he_o see_v some_o class_n of_o that_o part_n although_o agree_v with_o that_o part_n in_o the_o first_o and_o second_o form_n to_o be_v distinguish_v from_o they_o in_o a_o three_o superad_v form_n whence_o some_o action_n flow_v e._n g._n all_o earthly_a body_n as_o earth_n stone_n mineral_n plant_n animal_n and_o all_o other_o heavy_a body_n they_o make_v up_o one_o multitude_n which_o agree_v in_o the_o same_o form_n from_o whence_o flow_v their_o motion_n downward_o so_o long_o as_o nothing_o hinder_v they_o to_o descend_v and_o when_o by_o any_o force_n they_o be_v move_v upward_o and_o then_o be_v permit_v to_o themselves_o by_o the_o force_n of_o their_o own_o form_n they_o tend_v downward_o but_o some_o part_n of_o this_o kind_n as_o plant_n and_o animal_n although_o they_o agree_v with_o the_o former_a multitude_n in_o that_o form_n they_o have_v yet_o another_o form_n from_o who_o nutrition_n and_o accretion_n do_v flow_v but_o nutrition_n be_v when_o that_o which_o be_v nourish_v place_v somewhat_o in_o the_o room_n of_o that_o which_o have_v be_v take_v from_o it_o by_o convert_v some_o
