with_o the_o fullness_n of_o god_n through_o jesus_n christ_n thus_o we_o conceive_v and_o by_o no_o other_o mean_n do_v john_n teach_v his_o disciple_n to_o pray_v we_o can_v reach_v to_o his_o word_n and_o may_v seem_v too_o bold_a in_o make_v offer_n that_o way_n but_o thus_o we_o conceive_v and_o we_o say_v it_o again_o john_n teach_v his_o disciple_n to_o pray_v and_o not_o by_o prescribe_v they_o certain_a form_n of_o prayer_n to_o say_v when_o they_o come_v before_o their_o god_n and_o this_o we_o conceive_v to_o be_v the_o ready_a way_n a_o godly_a parent_n take_v now_o to_o teach_v his_o child_n to_o pray_v to_o his_o god_n what_o way_n must_v he_o take_v this_o he_o may_v know_v better_o than_o we_o but_o he_o must_v teach_v the_o child_n to_o know_v god_n first_o or_o if_o to_o pray_v first_o then_o to_o pray_v that_o he_o may_v know_v he_o believe_v in_o he_o and_o obey_v he_o and_o this_o the_o parent_n can_v well_o teach_v the_o child_n till_o he_o have_v teach_v the_o poor_a simple_a creature_n to_o know_v itself_o first_o in_o some_o measure_n and_o what_o need_v he_o have_v of_o a_o god_n in_o christ_n for_o so_o the_o parent_n drop_n into_o the_o child_n as_o he_o can_v a_o little_a vessel_n and_o a_o less_o mouth_n to_o receive_v in_o and_o how_o much_o fall_v by_o and_o how_o little_a be_v in_o when_o it_o be_v there_o in_o such_o matter_n as_o these_o be_v but_o this_o we_o be_v say_v the_o godly_a parent_n endeavour_v to_o do_v now_o a_o little_a and_o then_o a_o little_a a_o little_a more_o knowledge_n of_o himself_o what_o he_o be_v in_o the_o first_o adam_n as_o he_o be_v bear_v in_o the_o world_n a_o child_n
whereby_o to_o teach_v his_o child_n to_o pray_v it_o be_v not_o the_o work_n of_o a_o day_n or_o two_o as_o be_v say_v in_o another_o case_n but_o the_o work_n of_o every_o day_n while_o the_o child_n be_v under_o the_o parent_n eye_n and_o ear_n to_o teach_v the_o child_n to_o pray_v nay_o to_o add_v this_o it_o be_v easy_a for_o the_o vile_a person_n in_o your_o nationall_n church_n to_o teach_v a_o child_n to_o pray_v if_o to_o give_v he_o a_o form_n to_o pray_v be_v to_o teach_v he_o to_o pray_v for_o so_o much_o he_o or_o she_o can_v do_v have_v learn_v so_o much_o themselves_o to_o pray_v that_o way_n but_o sure_o he_o or_o she_o must_v be_v teach_v to_o pray_v and_o help_v by_o the_o good_a spirit_n to_o pray_v before_o they_o can_v teach_v their_o child_n to_o pray_v four_o and_o in_o the_o four_o place_n we_o think_v it_o at_o least_o coast_v near_o the_o brink_n of_o presumption_n nay_o be_v it_o not_o downright_a presumption_n to_o teach_v a_o child_n to_o pray_v by_o give_v he_o a_o form_n of_o prayer_n to_o say_v as_o thus_o for_o as_o we_o say_v so_o plain_o we_o will_v be_v dear_a child_n what_o ever_o thy_o ignorance_n be_v of_o god_n the_o father_n thou_o pray_v unto_o or_o of_o god_n the_o son_n manifest_a in_o the_o flesh_n in_o who_o name_n thou_o pray_v what_o ever_o mercy_n thou_o have_v receive_v and_o will_v praise_v god_n for_o what_o ever_o want_v thou_o feel_v and_o will_v pray_v to_o he_o for_o a_o supply_n from_o he_o what_o ever_o thy_o sin_n be_v thou_o shall_v confess_v before_o he_o yet_o do_v thou_o child_n pray_v become_v a_o prayer_n well-pleasing_a unto_o god_n when_o copper_n become_v gold_n the_o bramble_n a_o vine_n the_o moon_n a_o sun_n or_o when_o the_o sun_n paint_v on_o a_o signpost_n shall_v shine_v in_o the_o firmament_n of_o heaven_n and_o so_o we_o have_v take_v in_o your_o reason_n and_o examine_v the_o reasonableness_n of_o they_o that_o a_o parent_n teach_v his_o child_n to_o pray_v must_v and_o have_v advise_v with_o their_o minister_n first_o your_o answer_n to_o they_o be_v sweet_a and_o comely_a far_o otherwise_o than_o be_v report_v by_o one_o of_o they_o who_o may_v be_v as_o much_o take_v with_o that_o prayer_n as_o some_o be_v with_o that_o they_o make_v a_o idol_n only_o this_o you_o say_v to_o they_o which_o they_o look_v for_o and_o it_o please_v they_o well_o and_o it_o be_v abundant_o enough_o to_o mar_v all_o our_o minister_n have_v say_v from_o the_o lord_n unto_o they_o that_o you_o teach_v your_o child_n that_o prayer_n or_o allow_v it_o they_o shall_v be_v your_o say_n and_o do_n before_o your_o people_n and_o your_o whole_a house_n your_o child_n special_o the_o main_a and_o principal_a part_n and_o your_o chief_a good_n there_o for_o by_o your_o well-ruling_a of_o they_o and_o care_n over_o they_o you_o will_v make_v full_a proof_n what_o care_v you_o take_v of_o the_o church_n of_o god_n for_o he_o
as_o the_o truth_n of_o prayer_n and_o these_o may_v be_v but_o breathe_n after_o god_n and_o christ_n yet_o they_o have_v a_o voice_n as_o loud_o in_o god_n ear_n as_o be_v thunder_n in_o we_o we_o will_v draw_v to_o a_o close_a who_o ever_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o grace_n have_v also_o the_o spirit_n of_o supplication_n who_o may_v be_v in_o a_o groan_n as_o well_o as_o in_o a_o prayer_n whence_o we_o may_v conclude_v that_o he_o who_o have_v this_o spirit_n have_v no_o need_n of_o a_o prayer-book_n whereafter_o to_o pray_v if_o you_o grant_v he_o have_v the_o one_o in_o his_o heart_n be_v good_a for_o the_o bee_n and_o what_o be_v good_a for_o the_o bee_n be_v good_a for_o the_o beehive_n yet_o we_o conceive_v when_o a_o disciple_n come_v before_o god_n he_o spread_v before_o he_o his_o peculiar_a case_n and_o say_v not_o our_o father_n but_o my_o father_n not_o other_o case_n but_o his_o own_o this_o we_o conceive_v relate_v to_o the_o church_n in_o general_a but_o a_o in_o those_o day_n yet_o we_o meet_v with_o many_o of_o their_o prayer_n nor_o any_o of_o the_o bless_a martyr_n that_o we_o read_v of_o and_o we_o have_v read_v some_o volume_n of_o they_o sect_n iv_o and_o last_o the_o height_n and_o depth_n length_n and_o breadth_n of_o the_o content_n in_o this_o prayer_n which_o we_o think_v the_o understanding_n of_o a_o angel_n can_v comprehend_v make_v we_o believe_v that_o the_o lord_n intend_v not_o that_o his_o disciple_n shall_v huddle_n it-up_a as_o he_o read_v it_o nor_o can_v we_o think_v that_o any_o true_a disciple_n in_o the_o world_n run_v we_o upon_o a_o thousand_o inconvenience_n but_o if_o any_o duty_n then_o that_o of_o prayer_n calls-up_a all_o our_o affection_n it_o call_v for_o a_o work_n of_o the_o understanding_n also_o now_o we_o think_v no_o godly_a man_n understanding_n though_o his_o only_a be_v open_v renew_v and_o sanctify_a be_v able_a to_o go_v along_o with_o this_o manner_n of_o say_v it_o as_o he_o read_v be_v not_o to_o be_v use_v as_o a_o prayer_n for_o if_o we_o use_v the_o pattern_n for_o our_o prayer_n we_o shall_v never_o pray_v according_a 2._o 1_o john_n 3._o 2._o to_o the_o pattern_n as_o the_o disciple_n do_v not_o stint_v themselves_o with_o any_o degree_n of_o holiness_n god_n own_o purity_n be_v their_o copy_n so_o neither_o can_v they_o stint_v themselves_o in_o prayer_n the_o lord_n own_o prayer_n be_v their_o pattern_n we_o proceed_v sect_n ii_o we_o think_v it_o clean_o beside_o the_o scope_n and_o intendment_n of_o our_o bless_a saviour_n in_o give_v his_o disciple_n this_o prayer_n if_o they_o shall_v plead_v their_o case_n with_o he_o in_o those_o very_a word_n now_o in_o this_o case_n we_o can_v reach_v our_o lord_n mind_n nor_o eye_n his_o scope_n but_o by_o observe_v what_o he_o do_v
that_o the_o prayer_n of_o the_o best_a man_n be_v but_o imperfect_a as_o themselves_o be_v very_o imperfect_a thing_n prayer_n be_v a_o mix_v or_o compound_v duty_n for_o though_o it_o be_v wrought_v within_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n before_o it_o be_v putout_a by_o the_o tongue_n yet_o flesh_n have_v much_o to_o do_v in_o it_o enough_o to_o defile_v it_o and_o so_o the_o best_a prayer_n form_v as_o we_o hear_v pass_v from_o we_o as_o wine_n through_o a_o dunghill_n therefore_o these_o can_v have_v no_o acceptance_n for_o the_o prayer_n sake_n nor_o for_o his_o sake_n that_o pray_v if_o that_o be_v all_o which_o make_v for_o its_o acceptance_n it_o will_v be_v neglect_v sure_o enough_o but_o for_o his_o sake_n only_o who_o business_n it_o be_v now_o in_o heaven_n to_o take_v be_v impute_v by_o god_n than_o be_v see_v and_o allow_v by_o we_o so_o than_o it_o be_v grant_v that_o prayer_n be_v very_o imperfect_a they_o receive_v a_o tincture_n of_o uncleanness_n which_o cleave_v to_o the_o spirit_n and_o mind_n of_o a_o man_n though_o renew_v that_o be_v subservient_fw-fr and_o instrumental_a in_o this_o pray_a work_n they_o be_v simple_a duty_n that_o be_v so_o perfect_a prayer_n to_o the_o end_n of_o you_o make_v any_o thing_n at_o all_o towards_o the_o take_n away_o the_o uncleanness_n of_o your_o prayer_n or_o help_v at_o all_o against_o the_o imperfection_n thereof_o we_o take_v it_o you_o must_v answer_v one_o way_n or_o other_o it_o help_v or_o it_o do_v not_o help_v if_o you_o say_v it_o help_v how_o absurd_a be_v your_o say_n you_o know_v who_o live_v ever_o to_o help_v at_o this_o work_n and_o all_o proud_a helper_n together_o with_o he_o shall_v stoop_v under_o he_o if_o you_o say_v the_o add_v the_o lord_n prayer_n to_o the_o end_n of_o you_o help_v not_o no_o not_o at_o all_o than_o you_o say_v all_o the_o truth_n as_o to_o this_o matter_n but_o withal_o we_o fear_v you_o charge_v yourselves_o with_o some_o folly_n in_o own_o prayer_n our_o prayer_n be_v very_o imperfect_a we_o all_o know_v and_o god_n may_v neglect_v they_o therefore_o we_o add_v the_o lord_n prayer_n to_o the_o end_n of_o we_o that_o perfect_a and_o complete_a prayer_n which_o the_o father_n will_v not_o neglect_v we_o reply_v grant_v as_o before_o
