only_o of_o each_o of_o those_o respect_v single_a of_o some_o continuance_n and_o some_o frequency_n but_o of_o both_o of_o they_o joint_o that_o some_o determination_n of_o such_o a_o continuance_n so_o often_o initial_a v._o 3._o not_o remiss_a only_o nor_o conclusive_a nor_o exclusive_a but_o only_o initial_a and_o of_o such_o a_o frequency_n with_o such_o continuance_n be_v moral_a natural_a and_o make_v by_o the_o very_a law_n of_o nature_n 3._o that_o by_o the_o determination_n which_o we_o maintain_v in_o this_o position_n to_o be_v make_v by_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n of_o these_o respect_n of_o time_n as_o on_o the_o one_o hand_n we_o understand_v more_o than_o a_o remiss_a determination_n to_o say_v as_o many_o disputer_n do_v only_o a_o convenient_a time_n or_o a_o sufficient_a time_n leave_v both_o the_o term_n and_o limit_n for_o length_n or_o shortness_n of_o continuance_n and_o for_o frequency_n or_o seldomenesse_n of_o revolution_n whole_o undesign_v so_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n we_o mean_v not_o a_o conclusive_a determination_n assign_v exact_o the_o limit_n on_o both_o side_n much_o less_o a_o exclusive_a determination_n of_o which_o sort_n we_o have_v before_o note_v that_o we_o find_v none_o absolute_o give_v out_o by_o god_n any_o where_n in_o reference_n to_o the_o general_a business_n of_o religion_n but_o only_a such_o determination_n as_o we_o have_v before_o term_v initial_a wherein_o the_o initial_a term_n of_o either_o of_o those_o respect_n of_o time_n of_o the_o continuance_n and_o of_o the_o frequency_n be_v determine_v that_o be_v the_o continuance_n to_o be_v so_o long_o together_o at_o least_o and_o no_o less_o while_n as_o also_o the_o revolution_n so_o often_o at_o least_o and_o no_o seldome_o so_o require_v somewhat_o both_o for_o continuance_n and_o frequency_n strict_o and_o imply_v withal_o somewhat_o more_o in_o each_o respect_n but_o leave_v that_o somewhat_o to_o some_o other_o determination_n of_o god_n or_o man_n more_n plain_o we_o mean_v that_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n determine_v the_o continuance_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o short_a proportion_n that_o so_o much_o together_o at_o lest_o can_v but_o be_v necessary_a to_o be_v present_v to_o god_n at_o one_o time_n or_o other_o of_o every_o manslife_o and_o so_o again_o that_o so_o often_o at_o least_o in_o a_o revolution_n to_o wait_v upon_o god_n solemn_o in_o duty_n of_o religion_n and_o divine_a worship_n can_v but_o be_v necessary_a to_o every_o man_n during_o his_o life_n upon_o earth_n single_a vi_o 2_o prove_v of_o the_o continuance_n single_a and_o now_o we_o come_v to_o prove_v our_o position_n 1._o for_o the_o quamdiu_fw-la or_o continuance_n single_a if_o there_o may_v be_v sin_n against_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n in_o give_v god_n too_o little_a time_n at_o once_o in_o wait_v upon_o he_o in_o the_o duty_n of_o solemn_a worship_n than_o some_o determine_a solemn_a time_n be_v moral_a natural_a in_o regard_n of_o the_o proportion_n of_o continuance_n in_o his_o worship_n but_o there_o may_v be_v sin_n even_o against_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n in_o give_v god_n too_o little_a time_n at_o once_o ergo._n the_o consequence_n of_o this_o argument_n be_v undeniable_o confirm_v by_o those_o sentence_n of_o the_o apostle_n that_o whosoever_o sin_n transgress_v the_o law_n for_o sin_n be_v the_o transgression_n of_o the_o law_n and_o where_o no_o law_n be_v there_o be_v no_o transgression_n so_o that_o if_o to_o give_v god_n never_o above_o half_a a_o minute_n at_o once_o in_o wait_v upon_o he_o in_o any_o solemn_a worship_n be_v a_o transgression_n and_o sin_n even_o against_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n than_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n determine_v a_o solemn_a time_n at_o least_o somewhat_o above_o that_o propotion_n of_o continuance_n and_o so_o a_o whole_a minute_n or_o three_o quarter_n of_o a_o minute_n or_o the_o like_a be_v a_o determinate_a solemn_a time_n by_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o moral_a natural_a or_o any_o other_o proportion_n of_o continuance_n that_o can_v be_v name_v or_o imagine_v small_a than_o this_o will_v serve_v to_o illustrate_v and_o confirm_v this_o consequence_n the_o antecedent_n be_v no_o less_o certain_a and_o clear_a what_o ever_o conscience_n of_o the_o most_o corrupt_a man_n be_v call_v to_o judge_v if_o he_o whole_o deny_v not_o a_o god_n and_o a_o worship_n due_a to_o he_o for_o all_o man_n can_v but_o confess_v that_o it_o be_v sin_n never_o throughout_o a_o man_n whole_a life_n to_o give_v god_n above_o half_a a_o minute_n at_o once_o or_o a_o quarter_n of_o a_o minute_n or_o any_o less_o proportion_n of_o continuance_n if_o less_o can_v be_v mention_v or_o observe_v as_o for_o instance_n that_o of_o the_o publican_n luke_n 18._o when_o he_o smite_v his_o breast_n and_o cry_v lord_n be_v merciful_a to_o i_o a_o sinner_n this_o be_v a_o solemn_a worship_n and_o continue_v a_o little_a long_o than_o a_o instant_n and_o so_o be_v measurable_a for_o continuance_n but_o never_o to_o give_v god_n a_o large_a continuance_n can_v but_o be_v acknowledge_v a_o sin_n ergo_fw-la our_o conclusion_n be_v firm_a that_o some_o determinate_a solemn_a time_n above_o that_o proportion_n of_o continuance_n be_v morall-naturall_a and_o determine_v even_o by_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n the_o like_a argument_n will_v serve_v mutatis_fw-la mutandis_fw-la for_o some_o determinate_a solemn_a time_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o quotie_n single_a vii_o of_o the_o frequency_n single_a or_o frequency_n single_a if_o there_o may_v be_v sin_n against_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n in_o wait_v upon_o god_n too_o seldom_o than_o some_o determinate_a solemn_a time_n be_v moral_a natural_a in_o regard_n of_o the_o frequency_n of_o revolution_n but_o there_o may_v be_v sin_n against_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n in_o wait_v upon_o god_n too_o seldom_o ergo._n the_o consequence_n be_v prove_v as_o before_o that_o where_o no_o law_n be_v there_o be_v no_o transgression_n no_o sin_n etc._n etc._n so_o that_o if_o it_o be_v transgression_n and_o sin_n even_o against_o nature_n law_n never_o through_o a_o man_n life_n to_o wait_v upon_o god_n in_o his_o worship_n above_o once_o then_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n determine_v a_o solemn_a frequency_n above_o the_o proportion_n of_o once_o and_o so_o twice_o at_o least_o in_o a_o man_n life_n be_v a_o determinate_a time_n by_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o so_o moral_a natural_a the_o antecedent_n be_v also_o undeniable_a by_o any_o one_o that_o have_v not_o altogether_o forswear_a all_o conscience_n and_o renounce_v all_o religion_n in_o regard_n of_o god_n for_o whether_o by_o wait_v upon_o god_n we_o understand_v present_v unto_o he_o eiaculatory_a worship_n which_o may_v perhaps_o be_v dispatch_v
all_o time_n which_o be_v now_o by_o our_o adversary_n avouch_v to_o be_v morall-naturall_a belong_v to_o the_o first_o commandment_n and_o may_v be_v justify_v without_o any_o four_o commandment_n will_v not_o afford_v we_o some_o further_a direction_n about_o it_o where_o to_o seek_v a_o further_a direction_n after_o that_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n have_v nothing_o more_o to_o say_v distinct_o of_o it_o only_o first_o let_v we_o say_v a_o word_n concern_v the_o term_n of_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n distinguish_v the_o light_n of_o nature_n and_o law_n of_o nature_n distinguish_v as_o different_a from_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o because_o we_o add_v it_o to_o the_o former_a of_o which_o we_o say_v that_o by_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n we_o mean_v the_o understanding_n that_o man_n have_v by_o natural_a principle_n in_o their_o mind_n even_o notwithstanding_o the_o present_a corruption_n of_o nature_n whereby_o their_o conscience_n either_o of_o themselves_o or_o awaken_v by_o other_o discourse_n come_v to_o prescribe_v the_o law_n of_o nature_n to_o they_o make_v they_o see_v by_o way_n of_o conclusion_n from_o those_o principle_n a_o necessity_n of_o duty_n to_o or_o against_o such_o and_o such_o thing_n even_o though_o they_o have_v not_o hear_v of_o the_o scripture_n or_o give_v no_o credit_n to_o their_o authority_n so_o that_o the_o principle_n of_o reason_n concern_v god_n or_o man_n be_v the_o light_n of_o nature_n and_o the_o practical_a conclusion_n draw_v from_o thence_o be_v the_o law_n of_o nature_n nature_n xvii_o a_o caution_n to_o be_v observe_v in_o argument_n from_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n 2._o withal_o forasmuch_o as_o we_o have_v diverse_a time_n assert_v and_o that_o undeniable_o that_o god_n be_v the_o sovereign_a lord_n of_o we_o and_o all_o our_o time_n and_o that_o it_o be_v also_o certain_a that_o he_o have_v no_o need_n of_o we_o at_o all_o nor_o of_o any_o of_o our_o time_n therefore_o whatsoever_o we_o shall_v argue_v as_o necessary_a by_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n to_o be_v employ_v in_o religion_n and_o the_o solemn_a worship_n of_o god_n we_o do_v not_o intend_v it_o in_o that_o sort_n as_o though_o god_n can_v not_o appoint_v it_o otherwise_o if_o he_o so_o please_v and_o so_o if_o any_o certain_a word_n of_o he_o can_v be_v show_v that_o he_o will_v not_o have_v now_o this_o or_o that_o proportion_n of_o time_n it_o be_v not_o our_o purpose_n to_o argue_v for_o it_o against_o that_o express_a word_n of_o he_o no_o not_o under_o the_o pretence_n of_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n or_o aught_o else_o that_o can_v possible_o be_v allege_v but_o our_o intent_n be_v on_o the_o contrary_a so_o to_o discourse_v of_o the_o law_n and_o light_a of_o nature_n determine_v of_o time_n or_o direct_v about_o it_o as_o may_v urge_v the_o conscience_n of_o man_n where_o the_o scripture_n be_v silent_a or_o be_v not_o hear_v in_o the_o case_n and_o so_o from_o the_o rule_v even_o of_o nature_n to_o drive_v they_o to_o have_v recourse_n to_o the_o express_a word_n of_o scripture_n in_o those_o case_n where_o nature_n be_v either_o at_o a_o loss_n or_o may_v seem_v even_o to_o require_v more_o then_o in_o our_o present_a state_n on_o earth_n man_n be_v able_a to_o give_v so_o that_o we_o shall_v take_v these_o thing_n for_o undoubted_a truth_n 1._o that_o whatsoever_o proportion_n of_o time_n the_o law_n and_o light_a of_o nature_n call_v for_o to_o be_v employ_v in_o religion_n be_v altogether_o necessary_a so_o far_o forth_o as_o they_o be_v possible_a to_o man_n that_o have_v also_o necessary_a worldly_a business_n unless_o the_o scripture_n express_v god_n will_n by_o way_n of_o precept_n or_o at_o least_o of_o indulgence_n to_o be_v otherwise_o 2d._o that_o if_o god_n do_v in_o the_o scripture_n express_o give_v we_o now_o under_o the_o gospel_n a_o indulgence_n of_o any_o proportion_n of_o time_n for_o worldly_a business_n that_o so_o far_o as_o himself_o recall_v it_o not_o by_o other_o rule_n of_o his_o in_o scripture_n the_o law_n of_o nature_n be_v not_o to_o be_v urge_v as_o necessitate_v to_o a_o religious_a employ_v of_o those_o time_n within_o the_o compass_n of_o that_o indulgence_n further_o than_o those_o other_o rule_n of_o scripture_n do_v again_o enforce_v 3._o that_o man_n have_v no_o pretence_n to_o urge_v a_o indulgence_n grant_v in_o the_o old_a testament_n and_o particular_o that_o of_o six_o day_n labour_v about_o worldly_a business_n ordinary_o and_o for_o the_o most_o part_n which_o be_v the_o express_a indulgence_n of_o the_o four_o commandment_n and_o withal_o to_o reject_v the_o commandemet_n itself_o for_o religious_a time_n to_o which_o this_o indulgence_n be_v but_o a_o appendix_n or_o adjunct_n for_o that_o the_o indulgence_n can_v in_o reason_n be_v long_o live_v than_o the_o commandment_n to_o which_o it_o belong_v if_o therefore_o that_o be_v annihilate_v and_o repeal_v so_o be_v the_o indulgence_n also_o that_o appertain_v to_o it_o and_o then_o if_o a_o new_a one_o can_v not_o be_v find_v we_o must_v either_o have_v recourse_n to_o the_o four_o commandment_n again_o to_o the_o initial_a term_n of_o continuance_n and_o frequency_n that_o be_v the_o short_a and_o seldome_a proportion_n to_o be_v determine_v for_o religion_n which_o we_o have_v already_o prove_v do_v by_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n we_o may_v not_o find_v some_o further_a certain_a determination_n by_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n of_o the_o conclusive_a term_n of_o continuance_n single_a and_o so_o a_o conclusive_a determination_n of_o the_o long_a continuance_n consider_v single_a without_o any_o frequency_n of_o revolution_n 2._o whether_o also_o the_o same_o may_v be_v find_v of_o the_o how_o far_o the_o law_n and_o light_a of_o nature_n will_v lead_v we_o towards_o it_o 3._o whether_o then_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n can_v possible_o make_v a_o conclusive_a determination_n of_o both_o those_o respect_n of_o continuance_n and_o frequency_n joint_o and_o so_o to_o make_v up_o the_o chief_a solemn_a time_n of_o worship_n and_o if_o not_o yet_o whether_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n will_v not_o tell_v we_o that_o such_o a_o determination_n must_v necessary_o be_v make_v for_o religion_n and_o according_o what_o condition_n this_o determination_n must_v have_v which_o will_v direct_v they_o whether_o any_o general_n rule_v of_o scripture_n add_v to_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n can_v suffice_v to_o the_o make_n of_o this_o determination_n by_o any_o man_n or_o number_n of_o man_n or_o that_o we_o must_v needs_o seek_v for_o a_o express_a determination_n of_o it_o in_o scripture_n which_o then_o can_v be_v no_o other_o but_o that_o of_o the_o four_o commandment_n for_o one_o day_n in_o seven_o 4._o and_o final_o whether_o after_o this_o settle_a the_o law_n and_o light_a of_o nature_n will_v afford_v we_o any_o help_n towards_o the_o determination_n also_o of_o the_o quando_fw-la season_n or_o order_n of_o beginning_n the_o particular_a day_n of_o seven_o and_o the_o beginning_n of_o the_o day_n at_o evening_n or_o morning_n or_o send_v we_o for_o this_o also_o to_o the_o scripture_n and_o so_o we_o shall_v at_o last_o meet_v a_o most_o complete_a determination_n of_o all_o the_o three_o respect_n of_o time_n together_o for_o religion_n and_o so_o the_o most_o solemn_a time_n that_o can_v be_v of_o all_o which_o in_o their_o order_n and_o with_o all_o convenient_a brevity_n 1._o here_o for_o the_o first_o of_o
day_n as_o their_o natural_a spirit_n can_v hold_v out_o unto_o as_o they_o be_v able_a to_o continue_v wake_v in_o the_o service_n of_o god_n but_o it_o do_v not_o bind_v all_o then_o equal_o to_o the_o same_o proportion_n of_o minute_n because_o all_o be_v not_o able_a to_o wake_v equal_o one_o as_o long_o as_o a_o other_o but_o so_o far_o as_o man_n be_v able_a it_o bind_v all_o equal_o all_o be_v bind_v to_o serve_v god_n in_o the_o day_n with_o all_o their_o strength_n the_o strength_n of_o all_o their_o natural_a ability_n and_o so_o much_o we_o shall_v present_o see_v the_o law_n of_o nature_n command_v every_o one_o of_o mankind_n and_o more_o than_o so_o much_o it_o do_v not_o command_v whether_o the_o continuance_n be_v long_o or_o short_a compare_v with_o other_o 2._o xxiv_o answ_n 2._o 2._o but_o with_o all_o we_o say_v if_o any_o one_o of_o mankind_n through_o neglect_n of_o the_o service_n of_o god_n or_o misse-devotion_n to_o it_o do_v willing_o sleep_v more_o and_o wake_v less_o time_n than_o he_o need_v to_o do_v whether_o again_o the_o continuance_n compare_v with_o other_o man_n be_v long_o or_o short_a he_o be_v and_o will_v be_v find_v a_o transgressor_n against_o this_o law_n of_o nature_n for_o this_o be_v but_o corruption_n in_o he_o though_o perhaps_o he_o may_v pretend_v natural_a infirmity_n but_o of_o that_o and_o all_o other_o such_o like_a pretence_n this_o rule_n in_o a_o word_n may_v be_v a_o certain_a and_o sufficient_a judge_n that_o what_o continuance_n soever_o a_o man_n be_v able_a to_o keep_v himself_o wake_v in_o a_o day_n about_o any_o worldly_a business_n or_o matter_n of_o pleasure_n game_a or_o the_o like_a he_o be_v able_a to_o keep_v himself_o according_a to_o nature_n the_o same_o continuance_n of_o time_n in_o the_o service_n of_o god_n in_o one_o or_o other_o exercise_n of_o religion_n which_o natural_o weary_a not_o the_o spirit_n more_o than_o worldly_a matter_n but_o rather_o less_o than_o many_o worldly_a matter_n and_o the_o variety_n may_v refresh_v and_o do_v great_o the_o mind_n so_o far_o as_o carnality_n and_o corruption_n oversway_v not_o and_o therefore_o in_o the_o first_o state_v of_o this_o position_n concern_v a_o day_n to_o be_v determine_v by_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n we_o distinguish_v natural_a ability_n from_o corruption_n for_o we_o take_v it_o for_o a_o most_o undeniable_a truth_n that_o corruption_n do_v not_o hinder_v the_o law_n of_o nature_n from_o command_v to_o the_o utmost_a of_o natural_a ability_n as_o long_o at_o least_o as_o it_o exceed_v not_o they_o for_o the_o love_a and_o so_o serve_v god_n withal_o our_o strength_n as_o be_v touch_v before_o be_v infallible_o of_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o yet_o no_o man_n corruption_n now_o suffer_v he_o to_o yield_v god_n so_o much_o love_n and_o service_n this_o also_o make_v be_v make_v good_a in_o manifold_a particular_a instance_n that_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n do_v command_v we_o to_o do_v thing_n which_o now_o according_a to_o our_o corruption_n it_o be_v impossible_a for_o any_o man_n to_o do_v as_o to_o pray_v or_o read_v or_o hear_v the_o word_n when_o ever_o he_o do_v any_o of_o these_o duty_n with_o a_o steady_a fix_a heart_n and_o mind_n without_o any_o distraction_n or_o worldly_a thought_n at_o all_o that_o while_n for_o that_o they_o be_v so_o far_o forth_o a_o take_n of_o god_n holy_a name_n in_o vain_a yet_o this_o no_o man_n be_v able_a now_o to_o do_v as_o all_o man_n conscience_n will_v confess_v even_o though_o they_o employ_v but_o a_o very_a objection_n answer_v if_o here_o it_o be_v object_v that_o the_o same_o argument_n will_v as_o well_o prove_v the_o whole_a continuance_n of_o every_o day_n of_o our_o life_n as_o of_o one_o day_n necessary_a worldly_a business_n as_o well_o we_o say_v not_o as_o much_o that_o be_v as_o absolute_o necessary_o as_o his_o service_n and_o the_o pursue_v immediate_o of_o the_o soul_n happiness_n in_o and_o by_o they_o therefore_o in_o sensu_fw-la composito_fw-la it_o be_v not_o true_a that_o the_o argument_n prove_v the_o whole_a of_o every_o day_n continuance_n to_o be_v determine_v by_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n for_o religion_n and_o god_n immediate_a worship_n although_o in_o sensu_fw-la diviso_fw-la it_o prove_v of_o every_o particular_a day_n that_o be_v this_o or_o that_o quando_fw-la as_o well_o as_o of_o one_o but_o we_o propound_v it_o not_o of_o any_o particular_a day_n in_o respect_n of_o the_o quando_fw-la or_o season_n this_o or_o that_o day_n but_o only_o of_o one_o single_a continuance_n of_o a_o day_n and_o so_o it_o be_v both_o true_a and_o pertinent_a it_o be_v true_a for_o though_o natural_a necessity_n of_o worldly_a business_n will_v not_o admit_v the_o whole_a continuance_n of_o every_o day_n one_o after_o another_o that_o be_v the_o quoties_fw-la or_o revolution_n join_v to_o the_o continuance_n which_o we_o meddle_v not_o with_o in_o the_o argument_n yet_o they_o will_v certain_o admit_v one_o day_n in_o a_o man_n life_n we_o mean_v ordinary_a business_n will_v and_o for_o extraordinary_a necessity_n we_o grant_v as_o before_o reservation_n for_o they_o if_o they_o shall_v fall_v out_o when_o a_o man_n be_v upon_o that_o one_o day_n devotion_n therefore_o

day_n of_o 24_o hour_n be_v the_o long_a continuance_n at_o once_o that_o the_o natural_a ability_n of_o all_o mankind_n general_o be_v able_a to_o bestow_v upon_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n or_o any_o other_o business_n for_o if_o sleep_n be_v so_o necessary_a as_o it_o be_v ordinary_o to_o all_o man_n within_o that_o time_n which_o be_v a_o most_o formal_a interruption_n or_o break_v of_o the_o continuance_n of_o any_o business_n as_o that_o not_o one_o of_o a_o hundred_o perhaps_o do_v or_o can_v watch_v at_o any_o time_n a_o whole_a 24_o hour_n together_o then_o much_o less_o can_v natural_a rule_n even_o without_o art_n among_o all_o man_n all_o the_o world_n over_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n do_v determine_v even_o conclusive_o the_o frequency_n of_o every_o day_n that_o be_v so_o often_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n do_v require_v for_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n from_o all_o man_n by_o way_n of_o command_n but_o no_o often_o though_o not_o forbid_v often_o but_o only_o seldome_a because_o nature_n seem_v to_o have_v no_o frequenter_a distinct_a revolution_n than_o a_o day_n and_o that_o it_o have_v and_o be_v able_a to_o observe_v and_o take_v notice_n of_o and_z according_o be_v able_a to_o worship_n god_n even_o solemn_o so_o often_o there_o be_v no_o impediment_n imaginable_a why_o within_o the_o revolution_n of_o every_o day_n a_o man_n may_v not_o give_v god_n some_o solemn_a worship_n but_o we_o say_v though_o this_o seem_v a_o fair_a assertion_n and_o suitable_a to_o what_o we_o have_v before_o of_o the_o natural_a continuance_n of_o a_o day_n yet_o if_o we_o shall_v speak_v practical_o and_o ethical_o as_o we_o do_v partly_o before_o of_o the_o continuance_n we_o must_v deliver_v ourselves_o somewhat_o otherwise_o and_o indeed_o so_o we_o must_v also_o in_o a_o mere_a physical_a or_o astronomical_a consideration_n of_o the_o revolution_n of_o a_o day_n and_o 1._o least_o xxxii_o twice_o a_o day_n at_o least_o then_o in_o that_o consideration_n we_o say_v that_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n if_o it_o make_v any_o conclusive_a determination_n of_o the_o frequency_n of_o time_n for_o god_n worship_n it_o must_v be_v of_o twice_o every_o day_n because_o there_o be_v indeed_o a_o twofold_a revolution_n or_o frequency_n observable_a in_o every_o day_n naturally_n the_o beginning_n and_o the_o end_n in_o each_o of_o which_o it_o be_v undoubted_o possible_a to_o tender_v to_o god_n some_o worship_n and_o so_o it_o be_v practical_o a_o man_n first_o wake_v and_o his_o lie_v down_o to_o sleep_v be_v two_o distinct_a observable_a revolution_n appliable_a to_o god_n worship_n we_o do_v not_o now_o here_o speak_v of_o the_o quando_fw-la whether_o nature_n law_n do_v command_v to_o take_v the_o first_o time_n of_o wake_v and_o the_o last_o time_n before_o sleep_n for_o solemn_a worship_n that_o may_v be_v consider_v afterward_o but_o we_o say_v that_o these_o two_o be_v distinct_a and_o observable_a revolution_n of_o time_n in_o every_o day_n and_o so_o each_o of_o they_o afford_v a_o remarkable_a possibility_n of_o worship_v god_n the_o law_n of_o nature_n upon_o the_o former_a ground_n of_o god_n be_v our_o happiness_n and_o the_o sovereign_a lord_n of_o all_o our_o time_n can_v but_o determine_v both_o those_o time_n to_o make_v a_o conclusive_a determination_n of_o the_o frequency_n if_o any_o such_o may_v be_v make_v or_o at_o least_o a_o initial_a determination_n that_o be_v so_o often_o at_o least_o as_o twice_o in_o every_o day_n once_o in_o the_o morning_n and_o once_o towards_o night_n the_o law_n of_o nature_n do_v determine_v for_o solemn_a worship_n to_o every_o man_n this_o we_o mean_v of_o such_o day_n as_o we_o call_v work_v day_n out_o of_o which_o nature_n law_n determine_v twice_o every_o such_o day_n to_o tender_v some_o solemn_a worship_n to_o god_n as_o well_o as_o it_o do_v the_o whole_a of_o one_o day_n in_o a_o man_n life_n as_o we_o discourse_v before_o of_o which_o day_n or_o any_o such_o day_n we_o speak_v not_o in_o this_o argument_n because_o though_o the_o particular_a duty_n be_v divers_a on_o such_o a_o day_n and_o some_o to_o be_v repeat_v twice_o or_o often_o as_o prayer_n yet_o this_o in_o the_o whole_a be_v count_v but_o once_o one_o continuance_n because_o no_o worldly_a thing_n unless_o by_o reason_n of_o present_a necessity_n for_o which_o a_o reservation_n be_v make_v may_v come_v in_o and_o interrupt_v the_o continuance_n at_o all_o but_o now_o therefore_o when_o we_o speak_v of_o twice_o a_o day_n we_o speak_v of_o those_o day_n which_o be_v main_o for_o worldly_a business_n that_o even_o notwithstanding_o that_o they_o be_v so_o by_o god_n allowance_n and_o appointment_n b._n n._n b._n whether_o in_o nature_n or_o scripture_n yet_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n do_v determine_v a_o double_a frequency_n of_o religious_a service_n every_o such_o day_n of_o every_o man_n life_n only_o we_o say_v not_o that_o any_o continuance_n be_v strict_o determine_v with_o this_o frequency_n that_o so_o long_a a_o man_n must_v continue_v at_o his_o devotion_n twice_o every_o day_n but_o that_o so_o oft_o at_o least_o for_o the_o frequency_n the_o law_n of_o nature_n command_v we_o thus_o in_o a_o word_n further_o make_v plain_a reason_n xxxiii_o confirm_a by_o reason_n if_o it_o be_v sin_n against_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n not_o to_o worship_n god_n every_o day_n twice_o than_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n determine_v to_o every_o man_n the_o frequency_n of_o every_o day_n twice_o but_o it_o be_v a_o sin_n against_o the_o law_n of_o time_n for_o religion_n be_v god_n own_o peculiar_a and_o belong_v not_o to_o man_n this_o we_o suppose_v will_v be_v manifest_a by_o consider_v 1._o that_o the_o determination_n of_o this_o time_n according_a to_o what_o have_v be_v before_o discourse_v god_n in_o the_o very_a law_n of_o nature_n call_v for_o some_o time_n every_o day_n even_o out_o of_o the_o work-daye_n beside_o all_o extraordinary_a time_n for_o religion_n but_o the_o determination_n of_o the_o chief_a time_n for_o religion_n be_v set_v the_o residue_n be_v main_o for_o worldly_a business_n even_o allot_v to_o they_o by_o that_o very_a determination_n of_o such_o time_n as_o sufficient_a ordinary_o for_o the_o chief_a time_n to_o religion_n 2._o therefore_o to_o ascribe_v to_o man_n the_o determination_n of_o this_o chief_a sufficient_a time_n to_o religion_n be_v to_o ascribe_v to_o they_o the_o allotment_n of_o their_o own_o time_n for_o worldly_a business_n as_o contrary_o to_o ascribe_v to_o god_n may_v be_v make_v good_a by_o four_o demonstration_n as_o we_o conceive_v they_o to_o be_v draw_v from_o the_o light_n both_o of_o nature_n and_o scripture_n although_o we_o can_v here_o forbear_v to_o say_v and_o refer_v to_o the_o reader_n to_o judge_v what_o cause_n we_o have_v for_o it_o that_o our_o disputer_n in_o this_o whole_a controversy_n about_o religious_a time_n seem_v absolute_o to_o be_v of_o the_o mind_n that_o however_o all_o time_n be_v original_o god_n and_o he_o may_v still_o challenge_v what_o he_o please_v by_o a_o express_a law_n yet_o in_o practice_n he_o have_v rather_o give_v over_o time_n into_o man_n hand_n and_o make_v all_o time_n we_o rather_o than_o his_o own_o except_o only_o what_o he_o challenge_v from_o the_o jew_n by_o express_a law_n even_o from_o the_o beginning_n of_o the_o world_n and_o so_o since_o the_o gospel_n refer_v to_o man_n the_o superior_n at_o least_o among_o they_o the_o allotment_n of_o their_o own_o time_n for_o their_o worldly_a business_n and_o consequent_o they_o to_o allot_v to_o he_o back_o again_o and_o to_o their_o soul_n some_o pittance_n to_o be_v spend_v in_o religious_a duty_n according_a to_o their_o affection_n and_o discretion_n there_o be_v only_a general_n remembrance_n and_o rule_n in_o scripture_n of_o not_o neglect_v god_n and_o their_o soul_n but_o none_o obligatory_a descend_v to_o particular_a proportion_n divide_v between_o worldly_a business_n and_o religion_n now_o this_o kind_n of_o make_v all_o time_n we_o chief_o and_o principal_o for_o worldly_a business_n we_o take_v to_o be_v their_o capital_a and_o fundamental_a error_n in_o the_o whole_a dispute_n about_o the_o sabbath_n and_o lordsday_n and_o can_v sufficient_o wonder_v how_o it_o shall_v settle_v in_o the_o mind_n of_o considerate_a divine_n but_o the_o greatness_n of_o the_o error_n of_o this_o conceit_n we_o hope_v to_o represent_v to_o all_o reader_n and_o even_o to_o our_o disputer_n own_o conscience_n by_o these_o four_o argument_n follow_v indulgence_n lxvii_o 1._o otherwise_o no_o time_n shall_v be_v god_n but_o by_o man_n indulgence_n 1._o be_v not_o this_o to_o reduce_v all_o time_n from_o be_v god_n original_o and_o none_o we_o for_o worldly_a business_n but_o by_o his_o indulgence_n to_o no_o time_n be_v god_n practical_o but_o by_o man_n indulgence_n as_o we_o may_v say_v and_o again_o all_o inferior_n time_n for_o their_o soul_n to_o be_v neither_o at_o god_n appointment_n nor_o their_o own_o dispose_n but_o at_o their_o superior_n how_o profane_a and_o godless_a so_o ever_o and_o by_o their_o indulgence_n which_o although_o we_o grant_v that_o if_o god_n have_v any_o where_o say_v in_o his_o word_n express_o or_o by_o undeniable_a consequence_n i_o will_v leave_v all_o time_n to_o you_o and_o so_o i_o do_v before_o moses_n his_o time_n to_o all_o mankind_n there_o have_v be_v no_o reason_n against_o it_o nor_o find_v fault_n with_o it_o yet_o principal_n of_o their_o time_n to_o be_v their_o own_o and_o their_o attendance_n on_o their_o superior_n to_o be_v but_o when_o and_o how_o long_o and_o how_o often_o they_o themselves_o who_o be_v inferior_n do_v or_o shall_v appoint_v or_o tender_v voluntary_o even_o retainer_n though_o no_o ordinary_a servant_n have_v some_o set_v time_n by_o their_o superior_n appointment_n to_o present_v
