so_o clear_a a_o light_n as_o that_o of_o his_o ministry_n namely_o because_o the_o eye_n of_o their_o understanding_n be_v darken_v not_o so_o much_o with_o ignorance_n as_o with_o prejudice_n whereby_o they_o oppose_v christ_n and_o his_o holy_a doctrine_n for_o if_o the_o mind_n be_v clear_o enlighten_v by_o the_o word_n and_o spirit_n of_o god_n that_o light_n will_v diffuse_v and_o spread_v itself_o in_o the_o soul_n as_o the_o bright_a shine_a of_o a_o candle_n do_v in_o the_o house_n enlighten_v all_o the_o inward_a faculty_n and_o direct_v all_o the_o outward_a action_n and_o communicate_v its_o light_n also_o to_o the_o enlighten_v of_o other_o 37_o and_o as_o he_o speak_v a_o certain_a pharisee_n beseech_v he_o to_o dine_v with_o he_o and_o he_o go_v in_o and_o sit_v down_o to_o meat_n 38_o and_o when_o the_o pharisee_n see_v it_o he_o marvel_v that_o he_o have_v not_o first_o wash_v before_o dinner_n 39_o and_o the_o lord_n say_v unto_o he_o now_o do_v you_o of_o the_o heart_n observe_v 3_o our_o bless_a saviour_n do_v not_o condemn_v any_o external_a decency_n and_o cleanliness_n in_o conversation_n but_o his_o design_n be_v to_o show_v the_o vanity_n of_o outward_a purity_n without_o inward_a sanctity_n and_o to_o convince_v they_o of_o the_o necessity_n of_o cleanse_v the_o heart_n in_o order_n to_o the_o purify_n and_o reform_v the_o life_n the_o pharisee_n wash_v his_o hand_n clean_o but_o leave_v his_o soul_n full_a of_o uncleanness_n not_o consider_v that_o he_o that_o make_v the_o soul_n as_o well_o as_o the_o body_n require_v that_o both_o shall_v be_v keep_v pure_a all_o the_o impiety_n of_o man_n life_n proceed_v from_o the_o impurity_n of_o their_o heart_n and_o nature_n 41_o but_o rather_o give_v alm_n of_o such_o thing_n as_o you_o have_v and_o behold_v all_o thing_n be_v clean_a unto_o you_o as_o if_o christ_n have_v say_v the_o way_n to_o purify_v your_o meat_n and_o drink_n and_o estate_n from_o all_o pollution_n cleave_v to_o they_o and_o to_o have_v they_o sanctify_a blessing_n to_o you_o be_v in_o conjunction_n with_o other_o grace_n by_o do_v work_n of_o mercy_n and_o by_o liberal_a almsgiving_n according_a to_o your_o ability_n learn_v that_o charity_n and_o almsgiving_n according_a to_o our_o ability_n and_o opportunity_n be_v a_o special_a mean_n to_o sanctify_v our_o estate_n to_o we_o and_o to_o cause_v we_o holy_o and_o comfortable_o to_o enjoy_v whatever_o we_o do_v possess_v give_v alm_n of_o such_o thing_n as_o you_o have_v and_o behold_v all_o thing_n be_v clean_a unto_o you_o 42_o but_o woe_n unto_o you_o pharisees_n for_o you_o tithe_n mint_n and_o rue_v and_o all_o manner_n of_o herb_n and_o pass_v over_o judgement_n and_o the_o love_n of_o god_n these_o ought_v you_o to_o have_v do_v and_o not_o to_o leave_v the_o other_o undo_v our_o saviour_n here_o denounce_v a_o woe_n against_o the_o pharisee_n for_o their_o strict_a and_o scrupulous_a observe_v the_o lesser_a there_o be_v a_o difference_n in_o duty_n and_o our_o first_o regard_n ought_v to_o be_v to_o the_o great_a then_o to_o the_o less_o christ_n do_v not_o condemn_v they_o for_o tything_n mint_n and_o rue_v but_o for_o pass_v over_o judgement_n and_o the_o love_n of_o god_n 43_o woe_n unto_o you_o pharisees_n for_o you_o love_v the_o uppermost_a seat_n in_o the_o synagogue_n and_o greeting_n in_o the_o marketplace_n the_o next_o woe_n denounce_v against_o the_o pharisee_n be_v for_o their_o ambition_n pride_n and_o popularity_n affect_v the_o uppermost_a seat_n in_o the_o synagogue_n and_o salutation_n in_o the_o market_n where_o their_o fault_n be_v not_o in_o take_v but_o in_o affect_v these_o uppermost_a place_n god_n be_v the_o god_n of_o order_n there_o may_v and_o aught_o to_o
