those_o scruple_n and_o doubt_n into_o their_o mind_n with_o a_o secret_a pleasure_n and_o have_v entertain_v they_o let_v they_o rest_n and_o take_v up_o their_o lodging_n there_o very_o willing_o because_o they_o will_v plead_v their_o excuse_n they_o fancy_v for_o not_o do_v their_o duty_n and_o be_v a_o defence_n to_o their_o lazyness_n worldly_a mindedness_n and_o other_o naughty_a affection_n in_o short_a doubt_n and_o scruple_n never_o arise_v in_o good_a man_n mind_n without_o grief_n nor_o stay_v there_o without_o much_o trouble_n and_o therefore_o they_o long_v to_o be_v when_o we_o be_v assemble_v to_o commemorate_v that_o stupendous_a grace_n which_o our_o lord_n purchase_v for_o we_o by_o his_o precious_a blood_n and_o bestow_v upon_o his_o church_n in_o send_v the_o holy_a ghost_n the_o comforter_n to_o be_v a_o witness_n of_o his_o resurrection_n and_o exaltation_n at_o god_n right_a hand_n and_o to_o confirm_v we_o in_o the_o belief_n of_o all_o that_o love_n to_o praise_v his_o kindness_n to_o partake_v of_o his_o grace_n to_o share_v with_o he_o in_o his_o comfort_n to_o knit_v ourselves_o fast_a to_o he_o in_o holy_a obedience_n and_o to_o rejoice_v in_o hope_n of_o feast_v with_o he_o and_o all_o the_o company_n of_o the_o bless_a in_o his_o heavenly_a kingdom_n if_o you_o have_v not_o be_v hitherto_o convince_v of_o this_o duty_n your_o sin_n be_v the_o less_o and_o may_v in_o some_o measure_n admit_v of_o a_o excuse_n but_o if_o be_v now_o convince_v you_o stand_v out_o and_o still_o neglect_v the_o performance_n of_o it_o then_o can_v you_o not_o in_o any_o wise_a have_v the_o least_o excuse_n for_o your_o wilful_a disobedience_n and_o if_o you_o be_v not_o now_o convince_v by_o these_o thing_n which_o have_v be_v represent_v to_o your_o mind_n i_o must_v say_v it_o be_v because_o you_o wilful_o refuse_v because_o you_o will_v not_o receive_v conviction_n and_o this_o wilful_a refusal_n to_o be_v convince_v this_o shut_v your_o eye_n against_o the_o clear_a light_n wherein_o this_o duty_n be_v show_v to_o you_o be_v still_o another_o wilful_a sin_n add_v to_o the_o presumptuous_a neglect_n of_o the_o holy_a communion_n ii_o satisfy_v yourselves_o about_o what_o i_o have_v now_o propose_v determine_v what_o be_v like_a to_o become_v of_o you_o if_o you_o continue_v in_o a_o wilful_a sin_n as_o the_o neglect_n of_o the_o holy_a communion_n most_o certain_o be_v when_o the_o will_n of_o christ_n in_o a_o express_a law_n command_v it_o be_v make_v know_v to_o you_o and_o press_v upon_o you_o and_o exhibit_v unto_o we_o be_v the_o love_n of_o god_n so_o inconsiderable_a a_o thing_n as_o to_o be_v slight_v and_o pass_v by_o with_o careless_a neglect_n be_v the_o death_n of_o christ_n wherein_o that_o love_n appear_v so_o small_a a_o thing_n as_o to_o be_v forget_v or_o seldom_o think_v of_o and_o that_o although_o he_o have_v institute_v a_o sacrament_n on_o purpose_n for_o its_o commemoration_n and_o do_v we_o not_o forget_v and_o slight_v it_o when_o we_o regard_v not_o that_o institution_n and_o make_v no_o such_o commemoration_n i_o know_v how_o loath_a man_n be_v to_o yield_v to_o these_o conviction_n and_o how_o desirous_a they_o be_v to_o support_v themselves_o in_o a_o belief_n that_o they_o neither_o undervalue_v that_o love_n nor_o forget_v this_o death_n though_o they_o do_v not_o attend_v at_o the_o table_n of_o the_o lord_n for_o they_o remember_v both_o they_o say_v in_o their_o own_o private_a thought_n and_o give_v god_n thanks_o for_o his_o inestimable_a love_n in_o give_v christ_n to_o die_v for_o they_o but_o suppose_v they_o say_v true_a that_o they_o have_v such_o a_o sense_n of_o god_n and_o of_o our_o bless_a saviour_n as_o not_o altogether_o to_o let_v they_o slip_v out_o of_o their_o mind_n nor_o whole_o forget_v their_o benefit_n yet_o let_v they_o weigh_v this_o serious_o that_o where_o a_o know_v divine_a institution_n appoint_v on_o purpose_n for_o the_o commemoration_n of_o christ_n death_n and_o of_o god_n love_n therein_o manifest_v be_v neglect_v it_o must_v be_v confess_v that_o the_o same_o love_n of_o god_n and_o death_n of_o christ_n be_v in_o a_o very_a sinful_a degree_n undervalue_v and_o forget_v for_o no_o friend_n will_v think_v himself_o remember_v by_o he_o who_o lay_v aside_o that_o very_a thing_n which_o he_o leave_v he_o and_o solemn_o desire_v he_o to_o wear_v in_o token_n of_o his_o remembrance_n let_v such_o man_n consider_v also_o that_o they_o stand_v bind_v not_o only_o to_o remember_v or_o call_v to_o mind_n christ_n death_n private_o but_o open_o to_o make_v that_o solemn_a and_o public_a commemoration_n of_o it_o which_o be_v command_v by_o our_o bless_a lord_n and_o in_o like_a manner_n it_o be_v not_o sufficient_a to_o have_v a_o value_n of_o god_n love_n but_o we_o ought_v to_o show_v our_o esteem_n of_o it_o in_o the_o practice_n of_o that_o institution_n wherein_o that_o love_n be_v signal_o represent_v to_o we_o in_o brief_a we_o deceive_v ourselves_o if_o we_o imagine_v we_o remember_v god_n love_n in_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n as_o we_o ought_v to_o do_v while_o we_o do_v not_o express_v and_o show_v our_o remembrance_n by_o that_o sign_n and_o token_n which_o he_o have_v appoint_v as_o a_o testimony_n thereof_o if_o we_o do_v it_o not_o in_o this_o way_n he_o will_v look_v upon_o we_o as_o forgetful_a of_o he_o and_o of_o his_o love_n ii_o and_o by_o forget_v that_o it_o be_v not_o to_o be_v conceive_v how_o much_o mischief_n we_o do_v to_o ourselves_o and_o other_o for_o we_o be_v all_o agree_v that_o the_o consequence_n which_o st._n john_n draw_v from_o what_o have_v be_v now_o say_v be_v good_a and_o strong_a beloved_n if_o god_n so_o love_v we_o we_o ought_v also_o to_o love_v one_o another_o 1_o joh._n four_o 11._o which_o mutual_a love_n the_o apostle_n press_v by_o such_o argument_n in_o that_o epistle_n as_o affect_v with_o his_o love_n and_o for_o a_o answer_n to_o those_o also_o that_o say_v they_o be_v never_o the_o better_a for_o come_v to_o this_o sacrament_n it_o be_v certain_a they_o be_v thing_n can_v stand_v together_o but_o overthrow_v one_o the_o other_o for_o they_o that_o be_v member_n of_o christ_n be_v unite_v to_o he_o and_o they_o that_o be_v unite_v to_o he_o be_v in_o communion_n with_o he_o and_o derive_v continual_a influence_n from_o he_o and_o they_o that_o be_v in_o such_o conjunction_n and_o communion_n with_o he_o must_v be_v fit_a to_o communicate_v with_o he_o at_o his_o table_n else_o they_o be_v not_o his_o friend_n and_o if_o not_o friend_n than_o stranger_n or_o enemy_n for_o what_o medium_n be_v there_o between_o these_o or_o how_o can_v man_n pretend_v to_o be_v friend_n to_o christ_n by_o be_v in_o covenant_n with_o he_o and_o refuse_v to_o commemorate_v his_o death_n which_o seal_v that_o covenant_n because_o they_o be_v unfit_a always_o do_v your_o duty_n as_o well_o as_o you_o be_v able_a some_o for_o instance_n complain_v of_o hardness_n of_o heart_n and_o therefore_o dare_v not_o come_v but_o let_v such_o understand_v that_o it_o
