eternal_a joy_n use_v 1_o the_o use_n of_o this_o last_o point_n may_v be_v first_o to_o teach_v we_o to_o acknowledge_v the_o tender_a respect_n that_o god_n have_v over_o his_o child_n that_o though_o he_o wean_v they_o from_o the_o joy_n which_o here_o man_n take_v in_o toy_n and_o trifle_n of_o this_o world_n yet_o he_o leave_v they_o not_o destitute_a at_o any_o time_n of_o joy_n and_o comfort_n but_o will_v they_o to_o rejoice_v always_o for_o we_o know_v that_o every_o commandment_n of_o the_o gospel_n have_v a_o promise_n annex_v unto_o it_o if_o by_o faith_n we_o lay_v hold_v on_o it_o if_o he_o command_v we_o to_o repent_v in_o the_o gospel_n this_o commandment_n have_v a_o promise_n annex_v that_o be_v if_o by_o faith_n we_o endeavour_n to_o repent_v we_o shall_v repent_v so_o when_o he_o command_v we_o to_o love_v our_o enemy_n he_o give_v with_o all_o to_o his_o a_o promise_n which_o be_v by_o faith_n apprehend_v enable_v we_o to_o that_o duty_n in_o like_a perform_v cheerful_o and_o with_o a_o glad_a heart_n here_o than_o come_v to_o be_v reprehend_v note_v that_o natural_a dulness_n and_o deadness_n of_o man_n when_o they_o come_v to_o pray_v and_o to_o do_v any_o duty_n of_o god_n worship_n for_o we_o shall_v come_v unto_o they_o with_o our_o heart_n fill_v and_o replenish_v with_o joy_n so_o shall_v we_o to_o whatsoever_o good_a thing_n and_o business_n of_o our_o call_n we_o set_v ourselves_o about_o we_o must_v not_o go_v heavy_o about_o our_o business_n as_o a_o bear_n that_o have_v need_v to_o be_v hale_v and_o pull_v to_o the_o stake_n neither_o wish_n oh_o that_o this_o business_n or_o that_o work_n be_v do_v if_o god_n in_o thy_o call_n appoint_v thou_o unto_o it_o thou_o must_v go_v about_o it_o cheerful_o 13._o thus_o the_o better_a and_o deep_o in_o their_o heart_n mind_n and_o memory_n and_o to_o make_v they_o more_o careful_a of_o the_o practice_n of_o it_o for_o where_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n use_v these_o often_o double_a exhortation_n we_o must_v and_o aught_o to_o employ_v our_o great_a care_n and_o as_o it_o be_v our_o double_a diligence_n to_o learn_v they_o object_n but_o you_o will_v say_v thus_o in_o the_o lord_n be_v the_o ground_n of_o all_o our_o thanksgiving_n unto_o god_n which_o be_v a_o main_a and_o principal_a part_n of_o god_n worship_n for_o no_o man_n can_v true_o be_v thankful_a to_o god_n for_o any_o thing_n but_o he_o who_o have_v wrought_v by_o one_o mean_n or_o other_o some_o holy_a and_o heavenly_a joy_n and_o delight_n in_o his_o soul_n again_o three_o this_o rejoice_v in_o the_o lord_n be_v a_o duty_n very_o hard_o to_o perform_v for_o though_o it_o be_v easy_a for_o a_o man_n in_o worldly_a prosperity_n to_o rejoice_v after_o a_o natural_a and_o worldly_a manner_n yet_o to_o rejoice_v in_o the_o lord_n and_o in_o a_o righteous_a and_o sound_a manner_n this_o be_v a_o most_o heavenly_a duty_n and_o as_o cross_v to_o the_o dumpish_a and_o earthly_a spirit_n of_o man_n as_o any_o thing_n can_v be_v and_o therefore_o we_o need_v as_o it_o be_v the_o more_o prick_v and_o spur_v to_o quicken_v we_o on_o to_o this_o duty_n be_v of_o ourselves_o so_o flow_v and_o dull_a unto_o it_o david_n though_o he_o have_v a_o extraordinary_a measure_n and_o portion_n for_o the_o most_o part_n of_o this_o joy_n be_v wrought_v in_o his_o hart_n by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n yet_o he_o complain_v oft_o of_o the_o loss_n and_o decay_n and_o absence_n of_o these_o heavenly_a joy_n
this_o must_v needs_o fall_v out_o rather_o that_o in_o the_o settle_v our_o mind_n upon_o earthly_a pleasure_n we_o shall_v withdraw_v they_o from_o heavenly_a joy_n for_o there_o be_v a_o far_o great_a odds_n &_o contrariety_n between_o earthly_a pleasure_n and_o heavenly_a joy_n then_o be_v between_o one_o earthly_a pleasure_n and_o another_o the_o rule_n therefore_o be_v that_o we_o use_v a_o temperancy_n and_o a_o moderation_n in_o the_o lawful_a pleasure_n of_o this_o life_n and_o so_o rejoice_v as_o the_o apostle_n teach_v we_o 1._o cor._n 7.30_o as_o if_o we_o rejoice_v not_o and_o this_o rule_n we_o must_v remember_v be_v to_o be_v keep_v even_o in_o lawful_a pleasure_n and_o such_o as_o we_o have_v good_a ground_n and_o warrant_v to_o use_v from_o the_o word_n of_o god_n for_o as_o for_o pleasure_n in_o sin_n be_v it_o in_o any_o time_n in_o any_o place_n or_o company_n with_o what_o circumstance_n soever_o it_o hinder_v and_o quench_v our_o rejoice_v in_o god_n but_o you_o will_v ask_v i_o attain_v how_o you_o may_v come_v to_o have_v a_o predominant_a joy_n in_o the_o best_a duty_n for_o it_o be_v not_o a_o easy_a matter_n to_o alter_v our_o affection_n set_v upon_o these_o inferior_a delight_n i_o answer_v we_o shall_v come_v to_o a_o predominancie_n of_o delight_n in_o good_a thing_n if_o we_o be_v ever_o diligent_a in_o accustom_v and_o exercise_v ourselves_o in_o they_o accustom_v thyself_o to_o earnest_a prayer_n and_o thou_o shall_v delight_v in_o nothing_o more_o than_o in_o call_v upon_o god_n exercise_v thyself_o in_o repentance_n and_o mortification_n of_o sin_n and_o this_o shall_v become_v every_o day_n more_o easy_a and_o less_o grievous_a yea_o and_o in_o the_o end_n delightsome_a unto_o thou_o on_o the_o contrary_a do_v thou_o find_v thy_o heart_n take_v up_o with_o over_o great_a delight_n in_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o earth_n the_o daily_a and_o diligent_a exercise_n of_o holy_a and_o heavenly_a duty_n will_v slake_v and_o quench_v thy_o joy_n in_o they_o and_o again_o as_o by_o the_o practice_n of_o they_o thou_o have_v take_v that_o delight_n thou_o have_v in_o they_o so_o if_o thou_o shall_v disuse_n and_o unaccustome_v thyself_o from_o they_o both_o from_o the_o practise_n of_o they_o the_o speaking_z of_o they_o with_o pleasure_n and_o the_o muse_n and_o think_v upon_o they_o thou_o shall_v lessen_v and_o diminish_v thy_o joy_n in_o they_o for_o this_o experience_n can_v teach_v we_o note_v always_o they_o take_v great_a delight_n in_o any_o thing_n that_o give_v themselves_o most_o to_o the_o practice_n of_o it_o none_o so_o much_o give_v to_o the_o love_n of_o drink_n or_o wine_n as_o they_o that_o be_v continual_o lie_v at_o it_o and_o it_o be_v a_o good_a precept_n give_v by_o a_o heathen_a philosopher_n which_o may_v well_o beseem_v a_o christian_n to_o learn_v that_o a_o man_n shall_v make_v choice_n of_o the_o best_a life_n and_o custom_n will_v make_v it_o easy_a and_o pleasant_a unto_o he_o we_o must_v not_o first_o look_v for_o joy_n and_o then_o to_o practice_v good_a duty_n but_o we_o must_v labour_v and_o sweat_v with_o exercise_v and_o accustom_v ourselves_o thereto_o and_o afterward_o we_o shall_v find_v true_a joy_n from_o the_o continual_a practice_n of_o they_o practice_v sobriety_n patience_n and_o mildness_n and_o a_o delight_n in_o they_o will_v follow_v of_o it_o own_o accord_n dangerous_a hence_o than_o we_o see_v it_o be_v very_o dangerous_a in_o regard_n of_o the_o loss_n of_o our_o joy_n to_o omit_v for_o a_o time_n and_o to_o make_v intermission_n of_o good_a duty_n as_o also_o to_o give_v leave_n for_o a_o time_n to_o ourselves_o to_o the_o practice_n of_o aught_o that_o have_v be_v and_o be_v like_a to_o be_v a_o hindrance_n to_o the_o progress_n and_o proceed_n of_o our_o christian_a joy_n for_o omit_v a_o good_a duty_n this_o day_n and_o think_v it_o be_v not_o long_o to_o the_o next_o it_o shall_v be_v do_v as_o well_o then_o thou_o shall_v find_v less_o disposition_n in_o thyself_o unto_o it_o and_o less_o delight_n in_o the_o do_n of_o it_o by_o that_o intermission_n of_o thou_o and_o again_o give_v thyself_o liberty_n but_o at_o one_o time_n to_o practice_v that_o thou_o shall_v not_o and_o think_v thou_o will_v not_o be_v so_o far_o carry_v with_o thy_o delight_n another_o time_n that_o one_o action_n of_o thou_o shall_v make_v thy_o delight_n strong_a note_n and_o thou_o less_o able_a to_o withstand_v it_o this_o man_n common_o see_v not_o and_o therefore_o if_o they_o have_v have_v any_o joy_n in_o any_o good_a duty_n they_o quick_o lose_v it_o again_o because_o they_o intermit_v it_o still_o and_o defer_v from_o this_o day_n to_o the_o next_o the_o practice_n of_o it_o or_o if_o they_o have_v grow_v to_o some_o less_o delight_n or_o some_o dislike_n of_o something_o that_o be_v to_o be_v leave_v yet_o by_o this_o take_n of_o liberty_n now_o to_o do_v it_o and_o then_o upon_o another_o occasion_n to_o do_v it_o the_o delight_n return_v as_o great_a as_o ever_o it_o be_v if_o man_n have_v come_v to_o take_v pleasure_n in_o the_o sabbath_n of_o god_n in_o y_z e_z hear_v of_o his_o word_n in_o prayer_n in_o read_v conference_n and_o other_o holy_a duty_n upon_o that_o day_n this_o delight_n many_o time_n grow_v cold_a in_o they_o because_o they_o think_v yet_o they_o may_v take_v liberty_n and_o dispense_v with_o themselves_o for_o a_o day_n when_o either_o their_o profit_n call_v they_o away_o to_o worldly_a affair_n or_o some_o ill_a custom_n to_o vanity_n and_o heir_n with_o they_o of_o the_o glory_n to_o come_v and_o the_o word_n and_o the_o minister_n by_o who_o they_o be_v beget_v to_o the_o assure_a hope_n of_o immortality_n if_o they_o have_v do_v this_o say_v they_o at_o the_o first_o be_v it_o not_o meet_v that_o they_o shall_v much_o more_o do_v this_o afterward_o if_o when_o they_o do_v but_o taste_v of_o christ_n love_a kindness_n at_o the_o beginning_n they_o be_v thus_o affect_v shall_v they_o not_o much_o more_o do_v this_o after_o long_a experience_n and_o proof_n of_o the_o benefit_n thereof_o many_o year_n after_o answ_n to_o work_v upon_o they_o indeed_o it_o must_v be_v grant_v that_o the_o evil_a heart_n be_v a_o main_a hinderer_n from_o this_o holy_a course_n which_o i_o do_v not_o say_v as_o though_o i_o will_v take_v upon_o i_o to_o excuse_v or_o defend_v they_o who_o be_v wax_v cold_a in_o the_o duty_n of_o love_n for_o which_o they_o have_v sometime_o be_v commend_v but_o rather_o to_o advise_v such_o as_o be_v to_o stir_v up_o man_n to_o continue_v their_o first_o love_n note_v that_o they_o may_v exhort_v and_o persuade_v they_o to_o it_o wise_o and_o in_o all_o kindness_n not_o hot_o rough_o and_o rash_o such_o as_o thirst_n which_o the_o sick_a and_o trouble_a conscience_n hear_v count_v it_o the_o happy_a and_o welcome_a tiding_n that_o can_v be_v bring_v unto_o it_o and_o so_o by_o due_a and_o advise_v consider_v it_o lay_v hold_v of_o it_o though_o weak_o and_o by_o little_a and_o little_a the_o lord_n enable_v the_o party_n and_o so_o believe_v that_o it_o be_v as_o effectual_o offer_v to_o he_o as_o to_o any_o of_o god_n child_n that_o have_v already_o embrace_v it_o and_o this_o mighty_o work_v both_o to_o ease_v and_o quiet_a and_o also_o to_o quicken_v he_o who_o be_v before_o so_o cast_v down_o and_o trouble_v both_o and_o thus_o to_o pass_v to_o the_o three_o thing_n requisite_a to_o the_o reform_v and_o rectify_v of_o the_o heart_n that_o the_o true_a fear_n of_o god_n may_v proceed_v from_o thence_o the_o party_n be_v thus_o persuade_v of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o the_o free_a remission_n of_o sin_n and_o what_o unlooked_v for_o contentment_n he_o have_v thereby_o break_v forth_o into_o the_o praise_n of_o god_n with_o admire_v his_o kindness_n and_o say_v what_o thanks_n shall_v i_o give_v unto_o the_o lord_n for_o his_o unspeakable_a mercy_n unto_o see_v to_o what_o end_n such_o a_o heart_n be_v wish_v even_o to_o breed_v god_n fear_n for_o god_n plain_o teach_v that_o there_o can_v be_v in_o any_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n without_o it_o this_o let_v we_o a_o little_a consider_v of_o particular_o we_o know_v all_o with_o what_o scorn_n and_o detestation_n this_o speech_n will_v be_v reject_v of_o those_o that_o scarce_o profess_v the_o know_v that_o this_o fear_n of_o god_n be_v such_o a_o gift_n of_o god_n as_o by_o the_o which_o a_o man_n be_v preserve_v and_o keep_v from_o evil_a neither_o dare_v he_o that_o have_v that_o come_v commit_v the_o sin_n of_o the_o time_n in_o the_o which_o he_o live_v but_o above_o all_o thing_n do_v careful_o avoid_v they_o and_o he_o that_o shall_v live_v among_o the_o common_a sort_n of_o sermon_n what_o it_o be_v that_o the_o hearer_n have_v find_v when_o it_o be_v say_v of_o he_o that_o he_o have_v find_v the_o pearl_n of_o great_a price_n now_o let_v we_o see_v what_o it_o be_v to_o find_v this_o pearl_n to_o find_v the_o pearl_n of_o the_o gospel_n which_o be_v the_o next_o thing_n that_o i_o propound_v to_o speak_v of_o in_o this_o second_o property_n of_o the_o hearer_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o by_o the_o powerful_a hear_n thereof_o to_o see_v and_o to_o perceive_v what_o excellent_a and_o worthy_a grace_n benefit_n and_o prerogative_n it_o confer_v unto_o such_o as_o feel_v great_a need_n thereof_o and_o that_o christ_n be_v thereby_o to_o be_v make_v they_o that_o he_o may_v be_v a_o defence_n and_o protection_n unto_o they_o to_o shelter_v they_o from_o the_o wrath_n of_o his_o father_n that_o he_o may_v loose_v the_o band_n and_o chain_n wherewith_o they_o be_v tie_v and_o fast_o fetter_v in_o their_o sin_n to_o the_o will_n of_o the_o devil_n and_o and_o serious_a behold_v and_o consideration_n of_o these_o and_o infinite_a other_o grace_n depend_v upon_o these_o which_o god_n by_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o gospel_n reach_v out_o and_o offer_v unto_o we_o be_v the_o first_o find_v of_o this_o pearl_n which_o many_o hear_v a_o long_a time_n and_o yet_o never_o see_v thus_o much_o i_o mean_v the_o beauty_n of_o it_o and_o so_o long_o as_o man_n do_v in_o hear_v never_o see_v and_o behold_v this_o admirable_a and_o unualuable_a treasure_n in_o it_o they_o have_v not_o yet_o find_v the_o pearl_n of_o great_a price_n for_o the_o gospel_n howsoever_o it_o be_v in_o the_o declaration_n of_o the_o many_o good_a thing_n of_o it_o continual_o sound_v in_o their_o ear_n yet_o it_o be_v a_o mystery_n hide_v and_o secret_a to_o their_o understanding_n the_o gospel_n be_v to_o all_o such_o as_o yet_o as_o the_o light_n of_o the_o sun_n to_o the_o man_n that_o be_v stark_o blind_a the_o sun_n it_o shine_v upon_o the_o blind_a man_n as_o it_o do_v upon_o the_o see_a man_n but_o the_o blind_a he_o have_v no_o great_a benefit_n of_o the_o midday_n than_o he_o have_v of_o the_o midnight_n and_o therefore_o for_o himself_o he_o care_v not_o for_o the_o sun_n in_o respect_n of_o any_o light_n he_o have_v by_o it_o because_o he_o be_v blind_a so_o the_o light_n of_o the_o gospel_n it_o shine_v upon_o the_o blind_a and_o upon_o they_o that_o see_v the_o faithful_a and_o unfaithful_a but_o here_o be_v the_o difference_n the_o one_o have_v the_o eye_n of_o his_o understanding_n open_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n though_o it_o be_v but_o a_o common_a gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o he_o see_v the_o light_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o account_n and_o prize_v it_o at_o a_o great_a reckon_n but_o the_o other_o can_v discern_v any_o whit_n of_o the_o excellency_n of_o it_o the_o use_n then_o that_o we_o be_v to_o make_v of_o this_o point_n be_v this_o use_v because_o we_o see_v find_v go_v in_o order_n 11.25_o before_o the_o get_n and_o the_o purchase_n of_o the_o jewel_n and_o pearl_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o that_o none_o find_v it_o but_o he_o to_o who_o god_n by_o his_o spirit_n reveile_v it_o it_o to_o see_v into_o the_o riches_n and_o excellency_n of_o it_o that_o thereby_o our_o heart_n may_v be_v inflame_v and_o kindle_v with_o a_o earnest_a desire_n and_o longing_n after_o the_o sweetness_n of_o it_o for_o the_o reason_n why_o man_n be_v so_o cold_a and_o so_o backward_o in_o affect_v the_o gospel_n and_o why_o they_o take_v so_o small_a delight_n and_o pleasure_n in_o it_o and_o esteem_v any_o pleasure_n and_o commodity_n of_o their_o own_o before_o it_o it_o be_v this_o because_o they_o have_v not_o yet_o find_v either_o the_o vanity_n of_o other_o thing_n or_o the_o excellency_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o if_o we_o have_v find_v that_o the_o lord_n have_v in_o part_n open_v our_o eye_n that_o we_o can_v but_o dim_o and_o dark_o discern_v it_o clear_o as_o the_o man_n in_o the_o gospel_n that_o at_o first_o see_v man_n but_o he_o see_v they_o as_o tree_n until_o christ_n again_o put_v his_o hand_n upon_o his_o eye_n let_v we_o desire_v the_o lord_n again_o and_o again_o to_o lay_v his_o hand_n upon_o the_o 〈◊〉_d mind_n &_o understand_n that_o we_o may_v clear_o see_v the_o excellency_n of_o the_o gospel_n whereof_o we_o have_v as_o yet_o but_o a_o dark_a and_o obscure_a glimpse_n so_o will_v it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o that_o which_o now_o we_o have_v a_o saint_n and_o little_a desire_n unto_o we_o shall_v daily_o grow_v more_o hoate_o and_o their_o felicity_n in_o this_o world_n and_o yet_o come_v much_o short_a of_o and_o behind_o the_o last_o sort_n follow_v who_o have_v buy_v it_o note_v and_o say_v with_o the_o queen_n of_o sheba_n i_o have_v hear_v much_o of_o it_o but_o now_o i_o see_v far_o more_o than_o i_o have_v hear_v but_o if_o you_o ask_v 10.7_o be_v he_o now_o that_o have_v find_v it_o past_o the_o worst_a that_o be_v to_o say_v happy_a and_o have_v he_o do_v all_o that_o be_v require_v i_o say_v no_o till_o he_o have_v buy_v it_o but_o he_o may_v fall_v away_o from_o his_o esteem_v so_o precious_o of_o it_o and_o become_v secure_a again_o notwithstanding_o he_o be_v so_o well_o affect_v even_o better_o than_o â—â—er_o he_o be_v for_o he_o be_v but_o of_o the_o second_o or_o three_o sort_n of_o hearer_n 13.19_o mention_v by_o our_o saviour_n out_o of_o this_o which_o have_v be_v say_v three_o thing_n may_v be_v note_v first_o let_v not_o such_o think_v observation_n they_o be_v convert_v that_o in_o this_o though_o they_o weep_v at_o a_o sermon_n for_o we_o must_v not_o more_o flatter_v then_o discourage_v man_n the_o second_o thing_n be_v that_o we_o marvel_v not_o if_o we_o see_v some_o who_o have_v be_v so_o forward_o as_o these_o that_o i_o have_v speak_v of_o
to_o tear_v the_o wound_n that_o we_o ought_v to_o heal_v and_o to_o bind_v up_o but_o this_o do_v the_o wicked_a when_o they_o seek_v to_o vex_v and_o grieve_v the_o faithful_a that_o be_v already_o wound_v and_o cast_v down_o with_o sorrow_n in_o their_o soul_n yea_o and_o for_o that_o they_o carry_v corruption_n still_o about_o they_o i_o say_v not_o he_o be_v the_o happy_a that_o rejoice_v most_o for_o that_o no_o doubt_n many_o time_n he_o may_v do_v which_o be_v but_o in_o a_o very_a woeful_a case_n as_o our_o saviour_n christ_n say_v woe_n be_v to_o you_o that_o laugh_v but_o he_o i_o say_v be_v the_o happy_a man_n that_o have_v the_o great_a cause_n of_o joy_n joy_n for_o this_o be_v the_o argument_n of_o all_o those_o blessedness_n which_o our_o saviour_n christ_n pronounce_v matth._n 5._o the_o poor_a in_o spirit_n be_v pronounce_v bless_v because_o they_o have_v cause_n to_o rejoice_v so_o they_o that_o mourn_v they_o that_o be_v meek_a etc._n etc._n be_v bless_v because_o these_o though_o they_o do_v not_o rejoice_v yet_o they_o have_v every_o one_o of_o they_o just_a cause_n to_o rejoice_v but_o to_o proceed_v have_v the_o faithful_a and_o righteous_a alone_a just_a cause_n of_o joy_n then_o if_o thou_o desire_v sound_o to_o rejoice_v practise_v careful_o and_o constant_o a_o just_a and_o righteous_a life_n for_o without_o this_o faith_n and_o uprightness_n it_o be_v impossible_a though_o thou_o have_v make_v a_o beginning_n therein_o already_o ever_o to_o find_v any_o state_n that_o will_v give_v thou_o cause_n all_o thing_n well_o weigh_v shall_v seem_v to_o proceed_v from_o god_n it_o be_v ascribe_v to_o good_a luck_n and_o good_a fortune_n these_o all_o offend_v in_o this_o that_o they_o rejoice_v in_o these_o thing_n but_o not_o in_o the_o lord_n as_o the_o author_n of_o every_o good_a thing_n they_o have_v again_o there_o be_v some_o that_o joy_n in_o lawful_a thing_n but_o their_o joy_n be_v not_o take_v lawful_o they_o any_o joy_n in_o he_o that_o we_o take_v the_o great_a pleasure_n in_o estrang_v and_o withdraw_v ourselves_o so_o far_o as_o can_v be_v from_o he_o as_o adam_n before_o he_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o god_n after_o his_o fall_n he_o can_v not_o endure_v the_o sight_n and_o presence_n of_o god_n but_o hide_v himself_o among_o the_o tree_n of_o the_o garden_n as_o well_o can_v the_o thief_n take_v pleasure_n in_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o judge_n that_o be_v to_o condemn_v and_o pronounce_v sentence_n of_o death_n upon_o he_o as_o we_o can_v rejoice_v in_o god_n the_o judge_n and_o the_o avenger_n of_o all_o our_o sin_n commit_v against_o he_o degree_n now_o than_o that_o we_o may_v know_v how_o this_o reconciliation_n be_v to_o be_v make_v with_o god_n without_o the_o which_o we_o can_v joy_v in_o he_o we_o be_v in_o it_o to_o proceed_v by_o these_o three_o degree_n first_o we_o be_v to_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o our_o sin_n by_o the_o law_n of_o god_n we_o be_v to_o bring_v the_o law_n right_o teach_v and_o understand_v of_o we_o as_o a_o light_n into_o our_o heart_n to_o see_v what_o heap_n of_o filthy_a sin_n lie_v in_o every_o dark_a corner_n of_o our_o heart_n to_o see_v what_o be_v the_o duty_n require_v in_o every_o several_a precept_n and_o how_o we_o have_v omit_v they_o what_o sin_n be_v condemn_v in_o every_o precept_n and_o how_o and_o in_o what_o degree_n we_o have_v sin_v in_o the_o commission_n of_o they_o second_o we_o be_v to_o weigh_v the_o judicial_a sentence_n of_o the_o law_n against_o us._n curse_v be_v every_o one_o that_o continue_v not_o in_o all_o thing_n write_v in_o the_o law_n to_o do_v they_o and_o then_o not_o to_o bless_v ourselves_o that_o yet_o all_o shall_v be_v well_o nor_o to_o make_v a_o league_n and_o covenant_n with_o hell_n and_o death_n which_o shall_v not_o be_v keep_v but_o in_o token_n we_o believe_v our_o heart_n must_v be_v fill_v with_o sorrow_n and_o all_o our_o vain_a reioycing_n be_v to_o be_v turn_v to_o mourning_n till_o we_o melt_v and_o relent_v be_v abase_v and_o humble_v thereby_o and_o bring_v to_o a_o utter_a despair_n of_o all_o help_n in_o ourselves_o three_o be_v thus_o true_o cast_v down_o in_o our_o own_o soul_n we_o be_v then_o to_o learn_v to_o know_v what_o mean_v god_n have_v appoin_v to_o free_v we_o from_o the_o bitter_a curse_n of_o death_n and_o hell_n the_o mean_n he_o appoint_v for_o the_o free_v we_o be_v the_o death_n passion_n and_o y_o e_o obedience_n of_o christ_n jesus_n that_o he_o may_v undergo_v the_o curse_n and_o wrath_n of_o god_n where_o very_o comfortable_a and_o plentiful_a in_o scripture_n joh._n 3.14_o 3.14_o as_o the_o serpent_n be_v lift_v up_o in_o the_o wilderness_n so_o must_v the_o son_n of_o man_n be_v lift_v up_o what_o the_o scripture_n say_v the_o stone_n that_o the_o builder_n refuse_v 4.11_o be_v make_v the_o head_n of_o the_o corner_n he_o that_o read_v let_v he_o consider_v and_o revel_v 3._o bless_a be_v he_o that_o read_v and_o hear_v the_o word_n of_o this_o book_n and_o without_o this_o read_n often_o of_o the_o word_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o resist_v ready_o the_o tentation_n of_o satan_n for_o the_o devil_n will_v bring_v such_o colour_n of_o scripture_n for_o his_o tentation_n as_o we_o can_v resist_v if_o we_o have_v not_o by_o diligent_a read_n the_o scripture_n ready_a at_o hand_n continue_v a_o long_a time_n in_o christ_n school_n shall_v try_v and_o examine_v how_o small_a proceed_n they_o have_v make_v in_o this_o christian_a duty_n and_o search_v to_o find_v out_o the_o
