and_o something_o do_v towards_o the_o work_n out_o our_o salvation_n it_o will_v never_o be_v find_v any_o man_n godliness_n that_o he_o allow_v not_o himself_o to_o live_v thus_o ungod_o when_o yet_o he_o do_v it_o though_o he_o give_v not_o himself_o a_o deliberate_a toleration_n if_o yet_o his_o heart_n take_v leave_v to_o live_v thus_o without_o god_n in_o the_o world_n his_o way_n will_v betray_v he_o who_o and_o what_o he_o be_v yea_o and_o those_o that_o do_v something_o in_o those_o great_a and_o general_a duty_n yet_o if_o they_o allow_v themselves_o in_o the_o neglect_n of_o any_o particular_a duty_n that_o they_o know_v to_o be_v such_o in_o the_o neglect_n of_o righteousness_n in_o the_o neglect_n of_o mercy_n in_o the_o neglect_n of_o their_o family_n and_o the_o duty_n they_o owe_v to_o they_o in_o the_o neglect_n of_o neighbour_n or_o stranger_n and_o the_o duty_n they_o owe_v to_o they_o and_o can_v wink_v at_o and_o dispense_v with_o themselves_o herein_o such_o man_n can_v never_o prove_v but_o their_o religion_n be_v vain_a be_v thou_o a_o godly_a man_n who_o be_v a_o unrighteous_a and_o unmerciful_a man_n be_v thou_o a_o good_a christian_a who_o be_v no_o good_a husband_n be_v thou_o a_o good_a woman_n who_o be_v a_o evil_a wife_n be_v thou_o a_o good_a man_n who_o be_v a_o bad_a neighbour_n and_o give_v thyself_o leave_v to_o be_v so_o be_v thou_o a_o godly_a man_n who_o halt_v after_o the_o lord_n must_v serve_v thou_o instead_o of_o walk_v with_o god_n be_v thou_o a_o follower_n of_o christ_n who_o will_v have_v he_o abate_v thou_o some_o of_o his_o demand_n abate_v thou_o truth_n abate_v thou_o mercy_n abate_v thou_o self-denial_n or_o if_o he_o will_v not_o abate_v it_o to_o thou_o any_o thing_n that_o thou_o like_v not_o thou_o will_v abate_v it_o to_o he_o be_v this_o to_o be_v undefiled_a or_o entire_a in_o the_o way_n of_o the_o lord_n will_v god_n call_v that_o uprightness_n which_o can_v be_v call_v integrity_n and_o that_o sure_a can_v be_v count_v integrity_n which_o advise_o leave_v out_o any_o one_o of_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n but_o now_o he_o that_o give_v himself_o to_o prayer_n hear_v and_o praise_v the_o lord_n who_o make_v it_o the_o scope_n and_o business_n of_o his_o life_n to_o please_v god_n and_o make_v sure_a for_o eternity_n study_v and_o endeavour_v to_o approve_v himself_o in_o every_o thing_n to_o he_o who_o search_v the_o heart_n and_o tri_v the_o reins_o and_o to_o keep_v himself_o unspotted_a of_o the_o world_n this_o be_v a_o godly_a man_n this_o be_v religion_n indeed_o though_o through_o infirmity_n in_o many_o thing_n he_o fall_v short_a he_o pray_v but_o be_v sick_a of_o his_o pray_n he_o hear_v but_o be_v ashamed_a to_o think_v how_o he_o hear_v his_o spirit_n be_v so_o often_o cloud_v and_o clog_v with_o corruption_n and_o infirmity_n that_o he_o can_v feel_v no_o life_n nor_o take_v any_o comfort_n in_o any_o thing_n he_o do_v though_o by_o the_o power_n of_o corruption_n and_o temptation_n he_o be_v at_o time_n put_v beside_o pray_v and_o other_o duty_n and_o be_v sometime_o find_v in_o the_o field_n when_o he_o shall_v have_v be_v in_o his_o closet_n in_o the_o market_n when_o he_o shall_v have_v be_v at_o church_n though_o he_o find_v his_o heart_n too_o often_o run_v off_o from_o his_o work_n and_o slink_a away_o after_o his_o earthly_a business_n and_o gain_n and_o the_o vigorous_a prosecution_n of_o his_o design_n for_o heaven_n be_v sometime_o intermit_v though_o he_o sometime_o fail_v in_o the_o rule_n of_o his_o spirit_n in_o the_o govern_n of_o his_o thought_n and_o passion_n and_o hereupon_o be_v surprise_v by_o fit_n of_o pride_n or_o of_o anger_n or_o impatience_n the_o more_o it_o be_v thus_o the_o more_o doubtful_a will_v he_o unavoidable_o be_v touch_v his_o state_n and_o therefore_o dread_a to_o let_v thy_o lust_n get_v head_n or_o take_v encouragement_n from_o their_o word_n yet_o if_o the_o bent_n of_o his_o heart_n and_o his_o course_n be_v towards_o the_o lord_n and_o his_o intention_n and_o endeavour_n be_v to_o fulfil_v after_o he_o not_o indulge_v but_o judge_v himself_o for_o all_o his_o fail_n and_o strive_v within_o himself_o to_o stand_v complete_a in_o all_o the_o will_n of_o god_n this_o man_n be_v a_o godly_a man_n and_o because_o he_o will_v not_o pardon_v himself_o god_n will_v certain_o pardon_v and_o overlook_v all_o his_o infirmity_n and_o fail_n and_o gracious_o accept_v he_o in_o christ_n jesus_n to_o who_o be_v glory_n for_o ever_o amen_n now_o brethren_n to_o gather_v church_n of_o rome_n but_o by_o severity_n i_o mean_v strictness_n and_o exactness_n to_o our_o rule_n whatever_o pain_n or_o prejudice_v it_o may_v cost_v we_o or_o expose_v we_o to_o our_o hold_a ourselves_o close_o to_o every_o duty_n in_o special_a to_o those_o hard_a duty_n of_o self-denial_n and_o mortification_n the_o tame_n of_o our_o flesh_n the_o beat_n down_o our_o body_n and_o bring_v they_o in_o subjection_n by_o temperance_n and_o necessary_a abstinence_n those_o ungrateful_a duty_n admonish_v reprove_v withdraw_a from_o offender_n and_o whatsoever_o else_o our_o lord_n have_v impose_v upon_o we_o particular_o there_o be_v 1._o severity_n in_o impose_v upon_o ourselves_o when_o we_o be_v not_o partial_a in_o the_o law_n take_v only_o christ_n easy_a word_n and_o leave_v out_o the_o hard_a but_o do_v charge_n our_o whole_a duty_n upon_o ourselves_o and_o when_o we_o do_v not_o deal_v too_o gentle_o or_o remisse_o with_o ourselves_o only_o tell_v our_o heart_n chain_n of_o his_o indignation_n if_o the_o severity_n of_o his_o service_n be_v to_o thou_o a_o stumbling-stone_n the_o wrath_n of_o the_o lamb_n will_v be_v a_o millstone_n if_o this_o stone_n fall_v upon_o thou_o it_o will_v grind_v thou_o to_o powder_n matth._n 21.44_o sinner_n let_v their_o tongue_n run_v at_o a_o wild_a rate_n i_o must_v have_v my_o ease_n i_o must_v have_v my_o liberty_n i_o be_v never_o in_o bondage_n and_o can_v now_o endure_v it_o to_o come_v under_o such_o a_o severe_a restraint_n but_o thou_o that_o profess_v thyself_o to_o be_v one_o of_o his_o
