our_o soul_n therefore_o let_v i_o here_o by_o the_o way_n advise_v you_o not_o to_o walk_v contrary_a even_o to_o this_o lesser_a light_n i_o mean_v not_o to_o venture_v on_o any_o of_o those_o act_n which_o mere_a natural_a conscience_n will_v tell_v you_o be_v sin_n 4._o it_o be_v just_a matter_n of_o sadness_n to_o any_o christian_a heart_n to_o see_v some_o in_o these_o day_n who_o profess_v mean_v reveal_v 6._o the_o way_n for_o we_o to_o come_v to_o know_v they_o scripture_n be_v by_o the_o scripture_n wherein_o be_v set_v down_o those_o several_a command_n of_o god_n which_o he_o both_o to_o the_o law_n implant_v in_o we_o by_o nature_n and_o that_o of_o the_o old_a testament_n and_o those_o you_o shall_v find_v in_o the_o new_a testament_n in_o the_o several_a precept_n give_v by_o he_o and_o his_o apostle_n but_o especial_o in_o that_o divine_a sermon_n on_o the_o mount_n set_v down_o in_o the_o five_o six_o and_o seven_o chapter_n of_o s._n matthews_n gospel_n 8._o all_o these_o shall_v be_v several_o speak_v to_o but_o because_o that_o will_v make_v the_o discourse_n very_o long_o and_o so_o less_o fit_a for_o the_o mean_a sort_n of_o man_n for_o who_o use_n alone_o it_o be_v intend_v i_o choose_v to_o proceed_v in_o another_o manner_n by_o sum_v all_o these_o together_o and_o so_o as_o plain_o as_o i_o can_v to_o lay_v down_o what_o be_v now_o the_o alteration_n but_o be_v unchangeable_a that_o he_o be_v no_o bodily_a substance_n such_o as_o our_o eye_n may_v behold_v but_o spiritual_a and_o invisible_a who_o no_o man_n have_v see_v nor_o can_v and_o hearty_o that_o no_o man_n can_v miss_v of_o enjoy_v they_o but_o by_o his_o own_o default_n for_o he_o do_v most_o real_o and_o affectionate_o desire_v we_o shall_v embrace_v they_o and_o live_v as_o appear_v by_o that_o solemn_a oath_n of_o he_o eze._n 33._o 11._o as_o i_o live_v say_v the_o lord_n i_o have_v no_o pleasure_n in_o the_o death_n of_o the_o wicked_a but_o that_o the_o wicked_a turn_n from_o his_o way_n and_o live_v whereto_o he_o add_v this_o passionate_a expression_n turn_v you_o turn_v you_o from_o your_o evil_a way_n for_o why_o will_v you_o die_v to_o the_o same_o purpose_n you_o may_v read_v ezek._n 18._o consider_v this_o i_o say_v and_o then_o sure_o you_o can_v but_o say_v he_o have_v great_a kindness_n to_o our_o soul_n nay_o let_v every_o man_n remember_v these_o together_o with_o those_o many_o other_o mean_v god_n have_v use_v towards_o he_o for_o the_o same_o end_n and_o he_o will_v have_v reason_n to_o confess_v god_n kindness_n not_o only_o to_o man_n soul_n in_o general_a but_o to_o his_o own_o in_o particular_a 31._o neither_o have_v he_o be_v want_v to_o our_o body_n all_o the_o good_a thing_n they_o enjoy_v as_o health_n strength_n food_n raiment_n and_o what_o ever_o else_o concern_v they_o be_v mere_o his_o gift_n so_o that_o indeed_o it_o be_v impossible_a we_o shall_v be_v ignorant_a of_o his_o mercy_n to_o they_o all_o those_o outward_a comfort_n and_o refreshment_n we_o daily_o enjoy_v be_v continual_a effect_n and_o witness_n of_o it_o and_o though_o some_o enjoy_v more_o of_o these_o than_o other_o yet_o there_o be_v no_o person_n but_o enjoy_v so_o much_o in_o one_o kind_n or_o other_o as_o abundant_o show_v god_n mercy_n and_o kindness_n to_o he_o in_o respect_n of_o his_o body_n 32._o and_o now_o sure_o you_o will_v think_v it_o but_o reasonable_a we_o shall_v love_v he_o who_o be_v in_o all_o respect_n thus_o lovely_a indeed_o this_o be_v a_o duty_n so_o general_o acknowledge_v that_o if_o you_o shall_v ask_v any_o man_n the_o question_n whether_o he_o love_v god_n or_o no_o he_o will_v think_v you_o do_v he_o great_a wrong_n to_o doubt_v of_o it_o yet_o for_o all_o this_o it_o be_v too_o plain_a that_o there_o be_v vey_fw-mi few_o that_o do_v indeed_o love_v he_o and_o this_o will_v soon_o be_v prove_v to_o you_o by_o examine_v a_o little_a what_o be_v the_o common_a effect_n of_o love_n which_o we_o bear_v to_o man_n like_o ourselves_o and_o then_o try_v whether_o we_o can_v show_v any_o such_o fruit_n of_o our_o love_n to_o god_n 33._o of_o that_o sort_n there_o be_v divers_a but_o for_o please_v shortness_n i_o will_v name_v but_o two_o the_o first_o be_v a_o desire_n of_o please_a the_o second_o a_o desire_n of_o enjoy_v these_o be_v constant_o the_o fruit_n of_o love_n for_o the_o first_o it_o be_v know_v by_o all_o that_o he_o that_o love_v any_o person_n be_v very_o desirous_a to_o approve_v himself_o to_o he_o to_o do_v whatsoever_o he_o think_v will_v be_v please_v to_o he_o and_o according_a to_o the_o degree_n of_o love_n so_o be_v this_o desire_n more_o or_o less_o where_o we_o love_v earnest_o we_o be_v very_a earnest_n and_o careful_a to_o please_v now_o if_o we_o have_v indeed_o that_o love_n to_o god_n we_o pretend_v to_o it_o will_v bring_v forth_o this_o fruit_n we_o shall_v be_v careful_a to_o please_v he_o in_o all_o thing_n therefore_o as_o you_o judge_v of_o the_o tree_n by_o its_o fruit_n so_o may_v you_o judge_v of_o your_o love_n of_o god_n by_o this_o fruit_n of_o it_o nay_o indeed_o this_o be_v the_o way_n of_o trial_n which_o christ_n himself_o have_v give_v we_o jo._n 14._o 15._o if_o you_o love_v i_o keep_v my_o commandment_n and_o s._n john_n tell_v we_o 1_o ep._n 5._o 3._o that_o this_o be_v the_o love_n of_o god_n that_o we_o walk_v after_o his_o commandment_n and_o where_o this_o one_o proof_n be_v want_v it_o will_v be_v impossible_a to_o testify_v our_o love_n to_o god_n 34._o but_o it_o must_v yet_o be_v far_o consider_v that_o this_o love_n of_o god_n must_v not_o be_v in_o a_o low_a or_o weak_a degree_n for_o beside_o that_o the_o motive_n to_o it_o his_o excellency_n and_o his_o kindness_n be_v in_o the_o high_a the_o same_o commandment_n which_o bid_v we_o love_v god_n bid_v we_o love_v he_o with_o all_o our_o heart_n and_o with_o all_o our_o strength_n that_o be_v as_o much_o as_o be_v possible_a for_o we_o and_o above_o any_o thing_n else_o and_o therefore_o to_o the_o fulfil_n of_o this_o commandment_n it_o be_v necessary_a we_o love_v he_o in_o that_o degree_n and_o if_o we_o do_v so_o then_o certain_o we_o shall_v have_v not_o only_o some_o slight_a and_o faint_a endeavour_n of_o please_a but_o such_o as_o be_v most_o diligent_a and_o earnest_a such_o as_o will_v put_v we_o upon_o the_o most_o painful_a and_o costly_a duty_n make_v we_o willing_a to_o forsake_v our_o own_o ease_n good_n friend_n yea_o life_n itself_o when_o we_o can_v keep_v they_o without_o disobey_v god_n 35._o now_o examine_v thyself_o by_o this_o have_v thou_o this_o fruit_n of_o love_n to_o show_v do_v thou_o make_v it_o thy_o constant_a and_o great_a care_n to_o keep_v grace_n heb._n 10._o 29._o and_o many_o the_o like_a and_o therefore_o unless_o you_o can_v think_v enmity_n and_o trample_v and_o despite_n to_o be_v fruit_n of_o love_n you_o must_v not_o believe_v you_o love_n god_n while_o you_o go_v on_o in_o any_o wilful_a disobedience_n to_o he_o 36._o a_o second_o fruit_n of_o love_n i_o tell_v you_o be_v desire_n of_o enjoy_v this_o be_v constant_o to_o imperfect_a in_o this_o life_n the_o other_o more_o perfect_a and_o complete_a in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v that_o in_o this_o life_n be_v that_o conversation_n as_o i_o may_v call_v it_o which_o we_o have_v with_o god_n in_o his_o ordinance_n in_o pray_v and_o meditate_v in_o hear_v his_o word_n in_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n which_o be_v all_o intend_a for_o this_o purpose_n to_o bring_v we_o into_o a_o intimacy_n and_o familiarity_n with_o god_n by_o speak_v to_o he_o and_o hear_v he_o speak_v to_o we_o 38._o now_o if_o we_o do_v indeed_o love_v god_n we_o shall_v certain_o huge_o value_v and_o desire_v these_o way_n of_o converse_v with_o he_o it_o be_v all_o that_o we_o can_v have_v in_o this_o life_n it_o will_v make_v we_o with_o david_n esteem_v one_o day_n in_o god_n we_o will_v indeed_o approve_v our_o humility_n to_o god_n 6._o for_o sure_o you_o will_v not_o think_v that_o child_n have_v due_a humility_n to_o his_o parent_n or_o that_o servant_n to_o his_o master_n that_o when_o they_o be_v correct_v shall_v fly_v in_o the_o father_n or_o master_n face_n but_o thus_o do_v we_o when_o ever_o we_o grudge_n and_o repine_v at_o that_o which_o god_n lay_v upon_o we_o but_o beside_o the_o want_n of_o humility_n in_o our_o so_o do_v there_o be_v also_o a_o great_a want_n of_o justice_n in_o it_o for_o god_n have_v as_o we_o be_v his_o creature_n a_o right_a to_o do_v with_o we_o what_o he_o will_v and_o therefore_o for_o we_o to_o resist_v that_o right_n of_o he_o be_v the_o high_a injustice_n that_o can_v be_v nay_o far_o it_o be_v also_o the_o great_a folly_n in_o the_o world_n for_o it_o be_v only_o our_o good_a that_o god_n aim_v at_o in_o afdict_v we_o that_o heavenly_a father_n be_v not_o like_o our_o earthly_a one_o who_o sometime_o correct_v their_o child_n only_o to_o satisfy_v their_o own_o angry_a humour_n not_o to_o do_v they_o good_a but_o this_o be_v subject_a to_o no_o such_o frailty_n he_o do_v not_o afflict_v willing_o nor_o grieve_v the_o child_n of_o man_n lam._n 3._o 33._o they_o be_v our_o sin_n which_o do_v not_o only_o give_v he_o just_a cause_n but_o even_o force_n and_o necessitate_v he_o to_o punish_v we_o nay_o indeed_o he_o can_v not_o be_v say_v to_o have_v true_a kindness_n to_o he_o if_o he_o shall_v not_o and_o thus_o it_o be_v with_o god_n when_o he_o see_v we_o run_v on_o in_o sin_n either_o he_o must_v leave_v off_o to_o love_v we_o and_o so_o leave_v we_o to_o ourselves_o to_o take_v our_o own_o course_n and_o that_o be_v the_o heavy_a curse_n that_o can_v be_v fall_v any_o man_n or_o else_o if_o he_o continue_v to_o love_v we_o he_o must_v correct_v and_o punish_v we_o to_o bring_v we_o to_o amendment_n therefore_o when_o ever_o he_o strike_v we_o be_v in_o all_o reason_n not_o secure_v that_o his_o servant_n will_v not_o himself_o cheat_v he_o while_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n he_o will_v by_o his_o carelessness_n give_v opportunity_n to_o other_o to_o do_v it_o therefore_o he_o that_o do_v not_o careful_o look_v to_o his_o master_n profit_n deceive_v his_o trust_n as_o well_o as_o he_o that_o unjust_o provide_v for_o his_o own_o 27._o a_o three_o duty_n of_o a_o servant_n be_v patience_n and_o meekness_n under_o the_o reproof_n of_o his_o master_n not_o answer_v again_o as_o the_o apostle_n exhort_v rebuke_v tit._n 2._o 9_o that_o be_v not_o make_v such_o
