posterity_n but_o always_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o something_o or_o other_o the_o great_a want_n may_v be_v supply_v by_o prayer_n and_o there_o be_v no_o man_n but_o may_v pray_v if_o he_o please_v and_o the_o duty_n of_o prayer_n be_v so_o necessary_a that_o without_o it_o we_o shall_v not_o only_o want_v in_o this_o world_n but_o we_o shall_v be_v miserable_o in_o want_n to_o all_o eternity_n without_o it_o we_o can_v have_v remission_n of_o our_o sin_n nor_o the_o gift_n of_o god_n grace_n bestow_v upon_o we_o we_o can_v expect_v to_o be_v feed_v by_o his_o mercy_n if_o we_o think_v it_o shall_v receive_v be_v a_o promise_n that_o god_n will_v hear_v our_o prayer_n and_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n prompt_v he_o to_o make_v this_o promise_n as_o a_o encouragement_n to_o persuade_v we_o may_v exhort_v subject_n to_o loyalty_n and_o allegiance_n to_o their_o natural_a prince_n without_o fear_n of_o imprisonment_n or_o sequestration_n i_o do_v not_o pretend_v to_o any_o thing_n demonstration_n of_o the_o inward_a affection_n of_o the_o mind_n so_o this_o i_o hope_v though_o unworthy_a of_o so_o great_a a_o patron_n may_v find_v acceptance_n for_o this_o reason_n only_o be_v the_o foundation_n of_o all_o enjoyment_n how_o insignificant_a be_v the_o best_a meat_n to_o one_o who_o palate_n have_v no_o taste_n and_o who_o body_n be_v disturb_v by_o a_o rage_a fever_n and_o how_o insignificant_a be_v even_o plenty_n itself_o in_o a_o commonwealth_n that_o be_v sick_a of_o rebellion_n which_o be_v the_o fever_n of_o a_o kingdom_n and_o be_v common_o occasion_v by_o too_o high_a feeding_n the_o sick_a man_n head_n be_v full_a of_o whimsy_n which_o make_v he_o rave_v and_o speak_v of_o thing_n which_o neither_o he_o nor_o any_o else_o can_v understand_v he_o seldom_o sleep_v or_o if_o he_o do_v he_o be_v present_o awaken_v with_o scare_v dream_n and_o his_o very_a bedclothe_n which_o in_o time_n of_o health_n be_v a_o blessing_n and_o preserve_v his_o heart_n to_o his_o prince_n and_o be_v obedient_a to_o the_o law_n that_o be_v orthodox_n and_o peaceable_a in_o the_o church_n and_o endeavour_n to_o preserve_v unity_n in_o the_o state_n he_o be_v every_o man_n friend_n and_o every_o man_n be_v a_o friend_n to_o he_o he_o honour_v the_o magistrate_n and_o law_n but_o be_v afraid_a of_o neither_o because_o he_o be_v innocent_a he_o have_v the_o free_a use_n of_o his_o religion_n and_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o his_o estate_n he_o eat_v his_o meat_n with_o pleasure_n and_o contentedness_n the_o night_n be_v pleasant_a to_o he_o he_o do_v not_o dream_n of_o ill_o get_v land_n that_o be_v in_o his_o possession_n he_o be_v not_o scare_v with_o the_o cry_v of_o widow_n or_o the_o groan_n of_o orphan_n he_o be_v not_o haunt_v with_o the_o guile_n of_o innocent_a blood_n nor_o be_v he_o frighten_v with_o the_o ghost_n of_o a_o murder_a king_n this_o be_v the_o condition_n of_o the_o peaceful_a man_n and_o if_o a_o whole_a kingdom_n be_v make_v up_o of_o man_n of_o this_o temper_n how_o happy_a shall_v we_o be_v there_o will_v be_v no_o decay_n no_o lead_n into_o captivity_n and_o no_o complain_v in_o our_o street_n there_o can_v their_o king_n and_o serviceable_a to_o their_o country_n this_o be_v the_o first_o reason_n to_o show_v the_o happiness_n of_o those_o that_o love_v the_o peace_n of_o jerusalem_n they_o shall_v prosper_v that_o love_n thou_o for_o they_o shall_v have_v the_o blessing_n of_o peace_n 2._o second_o they_o shall_v be_v free_a from_o the_o misery_n of_o rebellion_n or_o a_o civil_a war._n the_o misery_n of_o a_o rebellion_n be_v twofold_a first_o either_o such_o as_o befall_v a_o kingdom_n in_o general_a or_o second_o such_o as_o befall_v every_o rebel_n in_o particular_a 1._o first_o the_o public_a calamity_n of_o a_o rebellion_n be_v innumerable_a i_o shall_v only_o instance_n in_o some_o of_o they_o that_o be_v most_o obvious_a when_o people_n be_v disaffect_v to_o the_o government_n of_o church_n or_o state_n and_o thence_o take_v a_o occasion_n to_o break_v out_o into_o civil_a war_n the_o subject_n can_v neither_o enjoy_v the_o benefit_n of_o the_o law_n which_o be_v our_o protection_n in_o peace_n nor_o the_o use_v of_o religion_n not_o the_o profit_n of_o his_o estate_n with_o out_o fear_v and_o danger_n there_o be_v no_o administration_n of_o justice_n there_o be_v no_o difference_n between_o right_n and_o wrong_n strength_n be_v the_o lawgiver_n and_o the_o long_a sword_n the_o measure_n of_o justice_n the_o cornfield_n be_v destroy_v the_o stately_a building_n be_v either_o void_a of_o inhabitant_n or_o be_v make_v a_o garrison_n and_o those_o that_o be_v strong_a the_o house_n of_o god_n be_v profune_v and_o demolish_v and_o be_v make_v a_o receptacle_n for_o bird_n and_o beast_n and_o the_o whole_a land_n lie_v desolate_a grass_n and_o weed_n grow_v in_o the_o sreet_n of_o our_o great_a city_n the_o wall_n be_v beat_v down_o the_o house_n burn_v and_o the_o inhabitant_n flee_v or_o murder_v the_o university_n be_v empty_v the_o liberal_a art_n &_o science_n must_v give_v place_n to_o the_o violence_n of_o the_o sword_n and_o so_o learning_n be_v nip_v in_o the_o very_a bud_n pride_n and_o robbery_n ambition_n and_o sacrilege_n oppression_n and_o murder_n covetousness_n and_o profaneness_n or_o else_o hypocrisy_n be_v the_o usual_a attendant_n of_o rebellion_n he_o that_o be_v in_o love_n with_o famine_n plague_n and_o desolation_n let_v he_o murmur_v and_o rebel_n for_o they_o be_v the_o effect_n of_o a_o civil_a war._n if_o there_o be_v no_o other_o punishment_n for_o resist_v the_o supreme_a power_n after_o this_o life_n yet_o the_o calamity_n i_o have_v mention_v may_v be_v sufficient_a to_o terrify_v any_o one_o from_o it_o that_o be_v not_o altogether_o void_a of_o sense_n and_o honesty_n rebellion_n be_v punishment_n enough_o for_o itself_o these_o be_v the_o public_a misery_n of_o rebellion_n 2._o second_o there_o be_v misery_n that_o befall_v private_a person_n in_o rebellion_n the_o several_a public_a calamity_n that_o i_o have_v now_o reckon_v though_o they_o be_v not_o all_o yet_o they_o be_v terrify_v particular_a person_n from_o it_o and_o that_o be_v the_o execution_n of_o the_o law_n when_o the_o rebellion_n be_v end_v for_o it_o can_v last_v always_o what_o a_o disgrace_n as_o well_o
