subject_a unto_o for_o other_o part_n of_o divine_a worship_n mention_v with_o the_o psalm_n as_o alike_o pertain_v to_o it_o though_o they_o will_v not_o sing_v by_o it_o with_o a_o single_a voice_n this_o we_o say_v gives_z as_o clear_a direction_n how_o and_o in_o what_o mode_n or_o manner_n sing_v shall_v be_v perform_v in_o a_o gospel-church_n as_o for_o the_o deliver_v other_o gift_n of_o the_o holy_a splrit_n beside_o we_o be_v not_o in_o the_o dark_a about_o it_o as_o they_o be_v but_o can_v and_o have_v already_o again_o and_o again_o clear_o show_v they_o from_o the_o light_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n that_o both_o the_o matter_n and_o the_o melody_n of_o gospel-singing_a be_v as_o the_o spirit_n give_v they_o utterance_n and_o it_o be_v a_o kind_n of_o duty_n exhort_v unto_o as_o the_o saint_n be_v exhort_v to_o covet_v after_o other_o extraordinary_a gift_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n and_o so_o be_v not_o command_v as_o a_o absolute_a continual_a ordinance_n but_o as_o a_o circumstantial_a and_o additional_a duty_n to_o the_o great_a ordinance_n of_o thanksgiving_n and_o praise_v of_o god_n and_o of_o teach_v and_o admonish_v which_o be_v perform_v by_o the_o extraordinary_a gift_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n which_o ordinance_n themselves_o still_o remain_v to_o be_v ordinance_n and_o be_v to_o be_v perform_v in_o a_o ordinary_a ministration_n without_o effect_n sum_n and_o substance_n bring_v to_o these_o acknowledgement_n viz._n that_o there_o be_v no_o way_n prescribe_v or_o lay_v down_o in_o the_o new_a testament_n how_o they_o shall_v sing_v a_o gospel_n ordinance_n or_o a_o christian_a duty_n they_o may_v not_o be_v fair_o charge_v from_o the_o testimony_n of_o their_o own_o pen_n with_o will-worship_n or_o to_o act_n or_o speak_v against_o the_o light_n of_o their_o own_o conscience_n and_o if_o they_o trouble_v our_o church_n further_o with_o it_o and_o their_o popish_a principle_n of_o the_o liberty_n and_o power_n of_o a_o gospel_n church_n on_o which_o they_o ground_n their_o warrant_n for_o their_o way_n of_o sing_v whether_o there_o will_v not_o be_v reason_n at_o least_o to_o suspect_v that_o for_o some_o outward_a interest_n more_o than_o for_o conscience_n sake_n they_o be_v turn_v adversary_n against_o the_o true_a interest_n of_o the_o baptist_n church_n and_o wilful_a betrayer_n of_o our_o reformation_n and_o be_v lay_v the_o foundation_n among_o we_o of_o a_o grand_a apostasy_n in_o divine_a worship_n and_o consider_v that_o mr._n allen_n and_o his_o five_o companion_n in_o defence_n of_o their_o sing_a worship_n have_v give_v we_o ground_n to_o fear_v they_o design_n to_o alter_v our_o church_n settlement_n and_o to_o new_a model_n they_o and_o see_v the_o light_n and_o power_n of_o truth_n have_v force_v their_o own_o pen_n to_o crumble_v their_o cause_n to_o nothing_o or_o to_o such_o a_o point_n as_o may_v be_v fair_o draw_v from_o their_o own_o confession_n and_o practice_n which_o they_o have_v cause_n to_o be_v ashamed_a of_o viz._n that_o those_o accidental_a mode_n and_o circumstance_n of_o sing_v and_o many_o other_o that_o be_v not_o particular_o prescribe_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o as_o they_o say_v be_v no_o essential_a part_n thereof_o nor_o of_o divine_a worship_n be_v leave_v to_o the_o liberty_n of_o the_o insufficient_a guide_n of_o the_o light_n within_o the_o major_a part_n of_o a_o gospel-church_n to_o warrant_v their_o own_o practice_n of_o as_o divine_a worship_n or_o as_o essential_a part_n thereof_o so_o as_o she_o shall_v judge_v most_o for_o edification_n i_o hope_v therefore_o it_o be_v a_o seasonable_a request_n that_o they_o will_v at_o last_o show_v themselves_o to_o be_v such_o good_a christian_n and_o real_a friend_n
