god_n by_o his_o profession_n five_o the_o more_o carnal_a you_o be_v the_o more_o you_o be_v expose_v and_o expose_v yourself_o to_o the_o temptation_n of_o satan_n and_o his_o instrument_n it_o be_v a_o carnal_a thing_n for_o david_n to_o number_v the_o people_n satan_n observe_v this_o carnal_a affection_n and_o the_o text_n say_v that_o he_o stir_v he_o up_o to_o number_v the_o people_n and_o carnal_a professor_n suppose_v a_o man_n deal_v but_o in_o outward_a friendship_n what_o happiness_n can_v he_o have_v in_o converse_v with_o one_o that_o be_v selfish_a that_o seek_v himself_o in_o all_o his_o acquaintance_n and_o converse_v be_v there_o any_o happiness_n in_o that_o friendship_n where_o a_o man_n must_v always_o stand_v upon_o his_o guard_n to_o keep_v himself_o from_o the_o selfish_a design_n of_o he_o that_o he_o walk_v with_o no_o sure_o much_o more_o may_v i_o say_v in_o our_o spiritual_a converse_n and_o communion_n what_o happiness_n what_o sweetness_n can_v i_o take_v in_o converse_v with_o he_o that_o be_v selfish_a and_o carnal_a oh_o this_o carnality_n be_v a_o great_a enemy_n to_o the_o sweetness_n of_o christian_a communion_n it_o will_v eat_v out_o all_o the_o sweetness_n of_o it_o and_o seven_o it_o will_v hinder_v the_o advance_n and_o progress_n in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n and_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n for_o what_o growth_n or_o advance_v can_v a_o people_n make_v in_o their_o practice_n when_o minister_n can_v advance_v they_o in_o their_o preach_n now_o say_v the_o apostle_n here_o i_o can_v not_o deliver_v to_o you_o strong_a meat_n why_o because_o you_o be_v carnal_a wherefore_o say_v the_o apostle_n will_v you_o grow_v in_o grace_n then_o lay_v aside_o all_o malice_n and_o superfluity_n of_o naughtiness_n as_o new_o bear_v babe_n desire_v the_o sincere_a milk_n of_o the_o word_n that_o you_o may_v grow_v thereby_o how_o be_v it_o therefore_o with_o i_o be_o i_o a_o professor_n and_o yet_o carnal_a then_o do_v i_o walk_v and_o the_o world_n then_o shall_v i_o lose_v the_o sweetness_n of_o christian_a communion_n and_o be_v keep_v from_o growth_n in_o grace_n sure_o therefore_o it_o be_v a_o evil_a thing_n and_o very_o evil_a for_o the_o professor_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o be_v carnal_a yet_o this_o may_v be_v possible_o in_o great_a professor_n member_n of_o church_n and_o man_n of_o great_a part_n and_o gift_n and_o a_o good_a man_n too_o may_v be_v very_o carnal_a such_o be_v these_o corinthian_n possible_o therefore_o a_o man_n may_v be_v a_o great_a professor_n yet_o he_o may_v be_v very_o carnal_a that_o be_v the_o doctrine_n now_o in_o the_o five_o place_n if_o you_o ask_v what_o then_o be_v our_o duty_n that_o do_v flow_v from_o hence_o i_o answer_v general_n 5._o 1._o if_o great_a professor_n of_o the_o gospel_n may_v be_v very_o carnal_a then_o why_o shall_v any_o man_n stumble_v or_o be_v offend_v at_o the_o way_n of_o god_n and_o godliness_n because_o of_o the_o carnality_n life_n of_o professor_n be_v the_o rule_n by_o which_o you_o walk_v or_o the_o scripture_n if_o the_o life_n of_o professor_n be_v the_o rule_n of_o your_o life_n then_o why_o do_v you_o not_o live_v as_o they_o do_v as_o the_o best_a of_o they_o do_v why_o be_v you_o not_o rather_o convince_v by_o their_o goodness_n then_o stumble_v by_o their_o carnality_n and_o if_o scripture_n be_v your_o rule_n why_o then_o do_v you_o not_o say_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o these_o carnality_n well!_o yet_o the_o scripture_n be_v the_o scripture_n and_o godliness_n be_v godliness_n and_o therefore_o though_o all_o man_n have_v their_o fail_n and_o the_o fair_a face_n have_v its_o wart_n and_o there_o be_v none_o so_o spiritual_a but_o have_v some_o carnality_n yet_o i_o and_o my_o house_n will_v serve_v the_o lord_n for_o i_o walk_v by_o scripture_n and_o scripture_n be_v scripture_n still_o and_o godliness_n be_v godliness_n still_o o_o take_v heed_n and_o be_v not_o offend_v that_o be_v speak_v to_o a_o truth_n in_o public_a yet_o he_o may_v leave_v it_o in_o the_o dark_a when_o i_o come_v at_o home_n than_o i_o may_v beat_v it_o out_o more_o full_o with_o good_a company_n so_o that_o this_o ordinance_n of_o good_a company_n be_v a_o great_a talon_n and_o will_v the_o lord_n require_v a_o account_n of_o the_o improvement_n of_o our_o talent_n then_o sure_o he_o will_v have_v a_o account_n of_o the_o improvement_n of_o our_o company_n in_o the_o three_o of_o malachy_n it_o be_v say_v then_o those_o that_o fear_v the_o lord_n speak_v often_o and_o a_o book_n of_o
