enoch_n be_v say_v to_o be_v the_o seven_o from_o adam_n and_o to_o prophesy_v judas_n 14._o and_o noah_n to_o be_v the_o 8_o person_n a_o preacher_n of_o righteousness_n which_o perhaps_o may_v as_o well_o signify_v his_o be_v the_o eight_o famous_a preacher_n from_o adam_n as_o one_o of_o the_o eight_o save_v in_o the_o ark_n 2_o pet._n 2.5_o from_o these_o the_o people_n of_o god_n before_o as_o it_o shall_v seem_v to_o hinder_v they_o from_o run_v out_o violent_o into_o transgression_n but_o when_o god_n have_v enter_v into_o covenant_n with_o a_o carnal_a seed_n of_o abraham_n that_o shall_v come_v of_o his_o son_n isaac_n and_o this_o seed_n of_o abraham_n according_a to_o the_o promise_n grow_v and_o multiply_v like_o the_o star_n of_o heaven_n for_o number_n &_o can_v not_o be_v contain_v in_o their_o duty_n by_o so_o few_o traditional_a rule_n as_o the_o patriarch_n and_o the_o good_a man_n in_o their_o day_n live_v and_o serve_v god_n by_o or_o that_o the_o prophet_n in_o his_o time_n be_v and_o till_o abraham_n time_n and_o after_o abraham_n time_n for_o a_o great_a while_n and_o this_o without_o the_o law_n it_o seem_v the_o law_n have_v never_o be_v give_v by_o moses_n this_o be_v the_o substance_n of_o the_o answer_n and_o to_o this_o suit_n exceed_v well_o another_o place_n of_o the_o same_o apostle_n 1_o tim_n 1.7_o 8_o 9_o there_o be_v a_o sort_n of_o man_n say_v he_o that_o have_v swerve_v from_o the_o way_n of_o faith_n and_o they_o will_v needs_o be_v teacher_n of_o the_o law_n but_o alas_o they_o know_v not_o what_o they_o undertake_v in_o it_o it_o be_v true_a say_v the_o apostle_n the_o law_n be_v good_a if_o a_o man_n use_v it_o lawful_o but_o you_o may_v make_v such_o a_o use_n of_o the_o law_n viz._n in_o the_o matter_n of_o justificaton_n that_o it_o may_v do_v you_o a_o mischief_n and_o whereas_o these_o ignorant_a law-preacher_n tell_v we_o that_o the_o law_n be_v give_v by_o moses_n for_o a_o way_n of_o justification_n we_o know_v say_v he_o ver_fw-la 9_o that_o the_o law_n be_v not_o make_v be_v never_o give_v for_o the_o righteous_a man_n but_o for_o the_o lawless_a and_o disobedient_a for_o the_o ungodly_a and_o for_o sinner_n for_o the_o unholy_a and_o profane_a for_o these_o serve_v the_o law_n of_o the_o first_o table_n for_o murderer_n of_o father_n and_o murderer_n of_o mother_n for_o man-slayer_n serve_v the_o six_o commandment_n for_o whoremonger_n and_o they_o that_o defile_v themselves_o with_o mankind_n serve_v the_o seven_o commandment_n for_o men-slayer_n the_o eight_o for_o also_o where_o it_o be_v in_o any_o less_o degree_n and_o for_o that_o i_o have_v assert_v that_o there_o be_v a_o mixture_n of_o legality_n in_o the_o service_n of_o the_o best_a christian_n and_o saint_n of_o god_n i_o think_v it_o good_a to_o improve_v this_o character_n yet_o further_o for_o the_o discovery_n of_o that_o legality_n which_o may_v be_v find_v in_o the_o saint_n themselves_o that_o legality_n of_o the_o saint_n therefore_o which_o be_v discoverable_a and_o reprovable_a by_o this_o character_n be_v 1._o that_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o some_o good_a man_n have_v a_o conscience_n of_o some_o superstitious_a observation_n and_o i_o will_v not_o for_o all_o the_o world_n think_v the_o contrary_a lest_o i_o shall_v condemn_v the_o generate_fw-la on_o of_o the_o not_o necessitate_v by_o weakness_n or_o any_o other_o occasion_n and_o with_o their_o hat_n upon_o their_o head_n now_o how_o easy_o may_v this_o give_v occasion_n to_o other_o that_o take_v offence_n at_o this_o irreverence_n out_o of_o a_o fear_n lest_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v reverend_a enough_o in_o the_o service_n of_o god_n to_o approve_v of_o kneel_v at_o the_o sacrament_n which_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o many_o good_a man_n may_v be_v very_o zealous_a for_o as_o also_o forbow_v at_o the_o name_n of_o jesus_n but_o yet_o i_o reckon_v that_o good_a man_n be_v in_o great_a sign_n of_o a_o rot_a heart_n and_o so_o not_o so_o incident_a to_o good_a man_n 2_o for_o the_o duty_n of_o the_o moral_a law_n good_a man_n legality_n lie_v in_o two_o particular_n 1._o when_o they_o have_v perform_v a_o duty_n right_o and_o spiritual_o they_o be_v apt_a to_o reflect_v upon_o it_o with_o a_o spiritual_a pride_n and_o ready_a to_o lay_v too_o much_o stress_n upon_o it_o and_o to_o think_v that_o now_o god_n must_v needs_o grant_v the_o petition_n they_o have_v ask_v whereas_o perhaps_o they_o have_v answer_n enough_o in_o the_o very_a sweetness_n of_o the_o duty_n itself_o and_o the_o communion_n with_o god_n which_o they_o have_v enjoy_v in_o it_o and_o therefore_o if_o they_o be_v not_o humble_v after_o such_o a_o duty_n to_o see_v their_o great_a unworthiness_n notwithstanding_o all_o they_o have_v do_v they_o be_v so_o far_o guilty_a of_o legality_n or_o which_o be_v more_o usual_a two_o the_o saint_n too_o often_o content_v themselves_o with_o do_v their_o tale_n and_o number_n of_o duty_n pray_v morning_n and_o evening_n perhaps_o read_v so_o many_o chapter_n but_o be_v not_o spiritual_a in_o what_o they_o do_v watch_v over_o indulge_v to_o themselves_o by_o some_o saint_n till_o at_o last_o they_o have_v a_o general_a deadness_n and_o benummedness_n in_o all_o their_o grace_n and_o then_o they_o fall_v into_o sad_a complaint_n of_o desertion_n and_o run_v into_o a_o maze_n and_o a_o labyrinth_n of_o doubt_n and_o trouble_n of_o mind_n which_o perhaps_o they_o get_v not_o out_o of_o for_o some_o year_n together_o of_o the_o moral_a law_n these_o not_o be_v spot_n of_o god_n child_n there_o be_v other_o miscarriage_n of_o the_o saint_n in_o duty_n that_o be_v to_o be_v refer_v to_o their_o legality_n of_o spirit_n as_o for_o instance_n if_o they_o chance_v through_o extraordinary_a occasion_n to_o have_v miss_v the_o time_n of_o prayer_n morning_n or_o evening_n to_o have_v miss_v the_o read_v their_o number_n of_o chapter_n or_o do_v any_o good_a task_n which_o they_o have_v lay_v upon_o themselves_o than_o they_o have_v a_o great_a fear_n and_o terror_n lest_o god_n shall_v be_v angry_a and_o displease_v with_o they_o though_o indeed_o mercy_n be_v at_o end_v instead_o of_o sacrifice_n but_o such_o as_o these_o belong_v to_o another_o head_n or_o character_n of_o a_o legal_a spirit_n to_o wit_n a_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n which_o i_o shall_v come_v unto_o anon_o i_o have_v now_o perfect_o do_v with_o the_o first_o character_n as_o to_o its_o explication_n proof_n and_o application_n both_o to_o legality_n predominant_a and_o that_o which_o be_v find_v in_o a_o less_o degree_n in_o which_o i_o may_v be_v think_v tedious_a enough_o only_o i_o will_v not_o leave_v so_o much_o as_o and_o vast_a number_n since_o its_o abolition_n and_o both_o rest_v upon_o as_o also_o that_o a_o superficial_a performance_n of_o moral_a duty_n be_v find_v both_o in_o the_o scripture_n and_o in_o in_o the_o six_o commandment_n if_o they_o do_v not_o commit_v adultery_n they_o have_v discharge_v the_o seven_o and_o so_o have_v keep_v the_o law_n they_o may_v expect_v the_o law_n shall_v justify_v they_o and_o therefore_o st._n paul_n whilst_o a_o pharisee_fw-mi he_o be_v touch_v the_o law_n blameless_a as_o he_o think_v which_o if_o he_o have_v true_o be_v and_o continue_v so_o he_o justification_n by_o work_n but_o they_o be_v much_o in_o love_n with_o some_o superstitlon_n or_o at_o least_o with_o ceremony_n yea_o even_o those_o who_o have_v be_v most_o strict_a in_o observe_v the_o duty_n of_o the_o moral_a law_n as_o to_o the_o letter_n of_o it_o your_o great_a pharisees_n they_o be_v as_o much_o for_o obfervation_n of_o ceremony_n as_o any_o man_n in_o the_o world_n how_o be_v the_o pharisee_n in_o our_o saviour_n time_n addict_v to_o invent_a ceremony_n and_o superstition_n though_o one_o will_v think_v they_o have_v enough_o ceremony_n in_o their_o law_n principle_n that_o any_o be_v to_o begin_v with_o in_o serve_a god_n now_o i_o think_v there_o be_v no_o exceed_v in_o any_o one_o of_o these_o principle_n a_o man_n can_v be_v too_o sensible_a of_o his_o obligation_n as_o a_o creature_n to_o serve_v his_o creator_n a_o man_n can_v be_v too_o sensible_a of_o the_o greatness_n of_o the_o reward_n nor_o of_o the_o danger_n of_o hell_n yet_o i_o think_v every_o christian_n have_v somewhat_o more_o to_o move_v he_o in_o his_o service_n to_o god_n then_o bare_o these_o three_o principle_n as_o for_o instance_n some_o such_o as_o i_o have_v name_v love_v to_o god_n gratitude_n yea_o many_o time_n nobleness_n of_o heart_n we_o love_v god_n say_v the_o apostle_n speak_v in_o the_o name_n of_o all_o the_o saint_n because_o he_o love_v we_o first_o etc._n etc._n and_o these_o further_a principle_n seem_v to_o follow_v in_o this_o order_n from_o the_o first_o that_o when_o i_o be_o thorough_o convince_v that_o it_o be_v my_o duty_n to_o live_v to_o god_n when_o i_o consider_v what_o danger_n i_o avoid_v in_o it_o what_o good_a i_o obtain_v by_o it_o i_o be_o engage_v to_o love_v that_o god_n love_n then_o love_n who_o take_v such_o care_n of_o his_o creature_n that_o he_o will_v not_o have_v they_o perish_v nay_o that_o he_o will_v not_o have_v they_o do_v their_o duty_n for_o nought_o here_o be_v now_o another_o principle_n a_o principle_n of_o love_n beyond_o the_o three_o first_o principle_n again_o i_o consider_v the_o greatness_n of_o the_o reward_n the_o richness_n of_o the_o grace_n in_o provide_v it_o by_o the_o gift_n of_o christ_n the_o father_n give_v he_o and_z his_o giving_z himself_z the_o send_v the_o spirit_n into_o our_o heart_n to_o persuade_v we_o and_o win_v upon_o we_o to_o accept_v of_o this_o grace_n all_o the_o care_n that_o the_o lord_n take_v about_o we_o and_o hereby_o i_o be_o yet_o more_o and_o more_o engage_v to_o love_n and_o gratitude_n nobleness_n aster_n that_o nobleness_n one_o do_v for_o god_n i_o shall_v give_v a_o instance_n in_o the_o apostle_n paul_n in_o that_o place_n last_o mention_v 1_o cor._n 9.17_o 18._o a_o place_n where_o you_o have_v the_o apostle_n do_v two_o and_o this_o he_o take_v such_o comfort_n in_o that_o he_o call_v this_o his_o glory_v as_o i_o take_v it_o and_o he_o will_v rather_o die_v then_o that_o any_o man_n shall_v make_v this_o his_o glory_v void_a now_o the_o principle_n of_o this_o his_o action_n be_v not_o legal_a as_o if_o he_o think_v by_o this_o to_o lay_v some_o obligation_n upon_o god_n or_o his_o lord_n christ_n jesus_n for_o he_o know_v that_o he_o be_v so_o far_o oblige_v to_o the_o lord_n for_o his_o mercy_n that_o he_o can_v never_o lay_v a_o obligation_n upon_o god_n the_o principle_n therefore_o be_v only_o this_o of_o gratitude_n and_o nobleness_n he_o have_v such_o a_o good_a master_n that_o he_o can_v never_o do_v enough_o for_o and_o therefore_o when_o he_o have_v send_v he_o to_o preach_v the_o gospel_n which_o he_o must_v unavoidable_o do_v the_o apostle_n spy_v out_o a_o opportunity_n of_o do_v his_o duty_n herein_o more_o effectual_o and_o that_o be_v if_o he_o will_v preach_v the_o gospel_n upon_o free-cost_n though_o he_o be_v allow_v by_o his_o master_n to_o have_v demand_v a_o reward_n and_o now_o spy_v out_o this_o how_o he_o may_v do_v a_o eminent_a service_n which_o yet_o offer_v to_o the_o shrine_n of_o some_o saint_n or_o to_o say_v such_o a_o tale_n of_o pater_n noster_n etc._n etc._n that_o therefore_o be_v another_o christian_a principle_n in_o act_v for_o god_n
