a_o fear_n of_o disgrace_n and_o that_o curb_v and_o check_n man_n and_o keep_v they_o from_o commit_v open_o the_o more_o gross_a and_o heinous_a sort_n of_o sin_n and_o from_o glory_v in_o they_o when_o they_o have_v commit_v they_o unless_o they_o can_v meet_v with_o companion_n as_o wicked_a as_o themselves_o or_o think_v themselves_o too_o strong_a for_o any_o that_o will_v oppose_v '_o they_o man_n natural_o love_v to_o have_v the_o good_a opinion_n of_o other_o and_o dread_v the_o be_v hate_v and_o abhor_v of_o mankind_n which_o will_v be_v the_o effect_n of_o many_o gross_a and_o open_a sort_n of_o wickedness_n and_o therefore_o what_o they_o practise_v of_o that_o nature_n they_o endeavour_v to_o keep_v as_o secret_a as_o every_o they_o can_v yea_o many_o seem_v desirous_a to_o hide_v their_o own_o wickedness_n as_o much_o as_o possible_a even_o from_o themselves_o it_o be_v such_o a_o odious_a and_o shameful_a thing_n and_o therefore_o they_o will_v scarce_o dare_v to_o look_v into_o their_o own_o conscience_n or_o consider_v their_o own_o way_n they_o have_v so_o ill_a a_o face_n and_o carry_v such_o a_o deformity_n in_o they_o that_o they_o can_v well_o bear_v to_o look_v at_o it_o and_o therefore_o they_o sometime_o invent_v to_o themselves_o miserable_a excuse_n or_o take_v up_o most_o senseless_a and_o absurd_a opinion_n only_o to_o hide_v the_o ugliness_n of_o their_o vice_n that_o so_o deform_v a_o spectacle_n as_o their_o own_o soul_n be_v if_o see_v in_o a_o true_a glass_n may_v not_o be_v a_o perpetual_a terror_n to_o '_o they_o now_o it_o be_v true_a that_o wicked_a man_n be_v but_o fool_n in_o all_o this_o to_o think_v that_o what_o they_o hide_v from_o man_n they_o can_v hide_v from_o the_o all-seeing_a eye_n of_o god_n too_o or_o because_o they_o can_v make_v a_o poor_a shift_n to_o deceive_v themselves_o a_o little_a that_o therefore_o they_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o impose_v upon_o he_o and_o blind_a his_o eye_n and_o for_o the_o thing_n be_v so_o evident_a that_o a_o man_n ought_v to_o be_v obedient_a to_o the_o law_n of_o his_o maker_n and_o that_o all_o sin_n be_v unreasonable_a in_o the_o high_a degree_n and_o extreme_o foolish_a this_o i_o say_v be_v so_o evident_a if_o a_o man_n will_v consider_v any_o thing_n that_o he_o can_v hardly_o forbear_v see_v it_o but_o wicked_a man_n therefore_o especial_o those_o that_o be_v so_o in_o a_o high_a and_o notorious_a degree_n be_v wont_a to_o be_v afraid_a of_o think_v and_o serious_a reflection_n do_v not_o care_n to_o examine_v impartial_o the_o principle_n on_o which_o they_o go_v nor_o to_o compare_v their_o action_n strict_o with_o the_o rule_n but_o rather_o huddle_n up_o the_o matter_n and_o suffer_v their_o lust_n and_o passion_n or_o some_o foolish_a and_o licentious_a notion_n plausible_o set_v off_o perhaps_o by_o the_o wit_n of_o some_o of_o their_o atheistical_a companion_n to_o darken_v and_o hoodwink_v their_o understanding_n so_o that_o they_o do_v not_o clear_o discern_v the_o folly_n and_o unreasonableness_n of_o their_o own_o practice_n but_o go_v on_o in_o a_o blind_a and_o inconsiderate_a manner_n which_o be_v quite_o contrary_a to_o the_o way_n of_o good_a man_n who_o path_n as_o solomon_n speak_v prov._n 4.18_o be_v as_o a_o shine_a light_n which_o shine_v more_o and_o more_o unto_o a_o perfect_a day_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o such_o in_o scripture_n be_v call_v the_o child_n of_o light_n and_o of_o the_o day_n 1_o thess_n 5.5_o whereas_o wicked_a man_n be_v call_v the_o lust_n and_o unruly_a passion_n to_o bear_v sway_n and_o over-rule_v the_o understanding_n this_o be_v the_o direct_a way_n to_o extinguish_v as_o far_o as_o it_o can_v be_v do_v the_o light_n of_o reason_n to_o put_v out_o that_o candle_n of_o the_o lord_n as_o far_o as_o a_o man_n be_v capable_a of_o do_v it_o and_o there_o want_v not_o those_o who_o too_o plain_o show_v we_o that_o it_o may_v be_v do_v in_o a_o great_a measure_n they_o can_v not_o else_o go_v on_o so_o secure_o in_o their_o wicked_a course_n as_o they_o do_v if_o they_o have_v not_o go_v a_o great_a way_n towards_o extinguish_v the_o light_n and_o cause_v it_o to_o shine_v but_o very_o dim_o if_o they_o have_v not_o stifle_v the_o reluctancy_n of_o their_o conscience_n to_o the_o practice_n of_o notorious_a impiety_n nevertheless_o it_o be_v true_a they_o can_v so_o stifle_v conscience_n or_o put_v out_o the_o light_n of_o their_o own_o mind_n as_o to_o secure_v themselves_o that_o it_o shall_v never_o trouble_v they_o no_o more_o conscience_n will_v be_v awaken_v and_o the_o light_n will_v shine_v again_o either_o happy_o here_o to_o bring_v they_o to_o repentance_n before_o it_o be_v too_o late_a or_o else_o to_o their_o endless_a torment_n and_o confusion_n hereafter_o yea_o there_o want_v not_o instance_n of_o those_o who_o have_v have_v their_o conscience_n thus_o awaken_v to_o terrify_v and_o torment_v and_o begin_v a_o hell_n in_o they_o in_o this_o life_n without_o bring_v they_o to_o a_o true_a repentance_n they_o be_v such_o as_o in_o the_o apostle_n expression_n heb._n 10.27_o
