doctrine_n way_n of_o deal_v etc._n etc._n occur_v as_o stumble_a block_n in_o the_o way_n of_o professor_n to_o make_v they_o fall_v and_o turn_v out_o of_o the_o way_n and_o particular_o affliction_n and_o persecution_n accompany_v christ_n and_o the_o gospel_n be_v grievous_a stumble_a block_n and_o do_v prove_v a_o neck_n break_v to_o many_o for_o it_o be_v here_o suppose_a that_o by_o reason_n of_o this_o lot_n they_o will_v be_v ready_a to_o be_v offend_v or_o stumble_v and_o scandalize_v to_o divert_v they_o from_o good_a &_o tempt_v they_o to_o make_v apostasy_n 4._o affliction_n and_o persecution_n be_v so_o search_v and_o try_v that_o even_o the_o best_a have_v need_n to_o be_v guard_v against_o the_o scandal_n thereof_o for_o even_o disciple_n have_v need_v to_o be_v speak_v unto_o that_o they_o be_v not_o offend_v 5._o how_o strong_o so_o ever_o tentation_n and_o prejudices_fw-la may_v seem_v to_o plead_v for_o stumble_v at_o christ_n in_o a_o day_n of_o trial_n yet_o it_o be_v most_o necessary_a that_o professor_n do_v not_o stumble_v see_v there_o be_v no_o safe_a retreat_n without_o a_o neck-break_a therefore_o do_v he_o propound_v it_o as_o a_o necessary_a duty_n that_o however_o matter_n go_v they_o be_v not_o offend_v 6._o whatever_o stumble_v block_n be_v lay_v in_o the_o way_n of_o professor_n and_o how_o many_o soever_o do_v of_o the_o cross_n and_o encouragement_n against_o the_o same_o be_v a_o sufficient_a guard_n against_o offence_n and_o scandal_n at_o the_o cross_n for_o 1._o his_o intimation_n warn_v man_n of_o their_o danger_n so_o that_o they_o have_v themselves_o to_o blame_v if_o they_o be_v not_o arm_v with_o resolution_n but_o still_o promise_v great_a thing_n to_o themselves_o and_o it_o do_v assure_v believer_n that_o he_o have_v a_o eternal_a purpose_n and_o effectual_a providence_n about_o these_o thing_n which_o he_o can_v foretell_v before_o they_o come_v to_o pass_v 2._o he_o guard_v this_o intimation_n with_o so_o many_o encouragement_n and_o antidote_n in_o the_o word_n as_o it_o can_v prove_v deadly_a to_o they_o that_o emprove_v the_o same_o 3._o the_o word_n right_o emproven_v do_v purge_v out_o idol_n and_o lust_n which_o tempt_v man_n to_o stumble_v do_v direct_v their_o way_n in_o dark_a case_n that_o they_o may_v not_o stumble_v and_o do_v afford_v such_o confirmation_n of_o faith_n as_o may_v support_v their_o heart_n under_o trouble_n and_o such_o intimation_n of_o the_o severity_n of_o god_n as_o may_v deter_v they_o from_o apostasy_n therefore_o say_v he_o these_o thing_n both_o of_o intimation_n and_o encouragement_n mention_v in_o the_o former_a chapter_n have_v i_o speak_v unto_o you_o that_o you_o shall_v not_o be_v offend_v not_o only_o be_v this_o the_o scope_n of_o his_o doctrine_n and_o intimation_n but_o these_o be_v a_o sufficient_a mean_n to_o prevent_v their_o stumble_n however_o they_o not_o emprove_n the_o same_o be_v offend_v for_o a_o
