even_o our_o very_a heart_n i_o doubt_v not_o but_o those_o that_o have_v feel_v they_o need_v not_o be_v tell_v they_o be_v uneasy_a but_o than_o methinks_v that_o uneasiness_n shall_v make_v we_o forward_o to_o embrace_v the_o mean_n for_o the_o remove_n of_o they_o and_o so_o we_o see_v it_o too_o often_o do_v in_o unlawful_a one_o man_n will_v cheat_v and_o steal_v and_o lie_v and_o do_v likely_a to_o betray_v we_o to_o want_v then_o to_o keep_v we_o from_o it_o but_o if_o you_o desire_v a_o certain_a and_o unfailing_a cure_n for_o care_n take_v this_o of_o rely_v upon_o god_n 59_o for_o what_o shall_v cause_v that_o man_n to_o fear_v want_n that_o know_v he_o have_v one_o that_o care_v for_o he_o who_o be_v al-sufficient_a and_o will_v not_o suffer_v he_o to_o want_v what_o that_o manner_n which_o the_o church_n have_v order_v to_o wit_n in_o the_o solemn_a worship_n of_o god_n and_o in_o particular_a thanksgiving_n for_o that_o special_a blessing_n we_o then_o remember_v and_o sure_o whoever_o be_v true_o thankful_a for_o those_o rich_a mercy_n can_v think_v it_o too_o much_o to_o set_v apart_o some_o few_o day_n in_o a_o year_n for_o that_o purpose_n but_o then_o we_o be_v to_o look_v that_o our_o feast_n be_v true_o spiritual_a by_o employ_v the_o day_n thus_o holy_o and_o not_o make_v it_o a_o occasion_n of_o intemperance_n and_o discord_n as_o too_o day_n pass_v we_o without_o read_v or_o hear_v some_o part_n of_o it_o read_v 23._o but_o then_o that_o be_v not_o all_o we_o must_v not_o only_o read_v but_o we_o must_v mark_v what_o we_o read_v apply_v it_o to_o our_o particular_a occasion_n and_o exhort_v and_o stir_v we_o up_o to_o the_o practice_n of_o it_o all_o which_o be_v the_o end_n at_o which_o first_o their_o catechise_v and_o then_o their_o preach_n aim_v and_o to_o this_o we_o be_v to_o bear_v also_o a_o due_a respect_n by_o give_v diligent_a heed_n thereto_o not_o only_o be_v present_a at_o catechizing_n and_o sermon_n and_o either_o sleep_n out_o the_o time_n or_o think_v of_o somewhat_o else_o but_o careful_o mark_v what_o be_v say_v to_o we_o and_o sure_o if_o we_o do_v but_o right_o consider_v how_o much_o it_o if_o they_o be_v ignorant_a but_o because_o all_o child_n shall_v be_v so_o instruct_v that_o it_o shall_v be_v impossible_a for_o they_o to_o be_v ignorant_a when_o they_o come_v to_o year_n and_o it_o near_o concern_v every_o parent_n as_o they_o will_v free_v themselves_o from_o the_o guilt_n of_o their_o child_n eternal_a undo_n that_o they_o be_v careful_a to_o see_v they_o instruct_v in_o 27._o but_o alas_o it_o be_v too_o sure_a that_o parent_n have_v very_o much_o neglect_v this_o duty_n and_o by_o that_o mean_v it_o be_v that_o such_o multitude_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n that_o be_v call_v christian_n know_v no_o more_o of_o christ_n or_o any_o thing_n that_o concern_v their_o own_o soul_n than_o the_o mear_a heathen_a 28._o but_o although_o it_o be_v their_o parent_n fault_n that_o they_o be_v not_o instruct_v when_o they_o be_v young_a yet_o it_o be_v now_o their_o own_o if_o they_o remain_v still_o ignorant_a and_o it_o be_v sure_a it_o will_v be_v their_o own_o ruin_n and_o misery_n if_o they_o wilful_o continue_v so_o therefore_o whoever_o it_o be_v of_o what_o age_n or_o condition_n soever_o that_o be_v in_o this_o ignorant_a estate_n or_o in_o any_o such_o undergon_v joyful_o rather_o than_o venture_v on_o that_o confusion_n of_o face_n which_o will_v at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n befall_v those_o who_o to_o avoidalittle_o false_a shame_n among_o weapon_n for_o the_o fight_n that_o be_v such_o mean_n and_o help_n as_o may_v best_o enable_v we_o to_o beat_v off_o temptation_n and_o get_v the_o victory_n over_o they_o 30._o since_o therefore_o this_o be_v the_o end_n of_o preach_v we_o must_v not_o think_v we_o have_v do_v our_o duty_n when_o we_o have_v hear_v a_o sermon_n though_o never_o so_o attentive_o but_o we_o must_v lay_v up_o in_o it_o by_o the_o common_a know_a rule_n of_o duty_n which_o he_o do_v understand_v and_o if_o he_o find_v it_o a_o doctrine_n give_v man_n liberty_n to_o commit_v those_o thing_n which_o be_v by_o than_o arrant_a theft_n of_o this_o kind_n be_v all_o those_o way_n that_o the_o servant_n have_v of_o gain_v to_o himself_o by_o the_o loss_n and_o damage_n of_o his_o master_n as_o the_o be_v bribe_v to_o make_v ill_a bargain_n for_o he_o and_o many_o the_o like_a nay_o indeed_o this_o sort_n of_o unfaithfulness_n be_v worse_a than_o common_a theft_n by_o how_o much_o there_o be_v a_o great_a trust_n repose_v the_o betray_v whereof_o add_v to_o the_o crime_n as_o for_o the_o other_o sort_n of_o unfaithfulness_n that_o of_o waste_v though_o without_o gain_n to_o themselves_o it_o differ_v not_o much_o in_o effect_n from_o this_o the_o master_n may_v lose_v as_o much_o by_o the_o one_o as_o by_o the_o other_o and_o then_o what_o odds_o be_v it_o to_o he_o whether_o he_o be_v rob_v by_o the_o covetousness_n or_o negligence_n of_o his_o servant_n and_o it_o be_v still_o the_o same_o breach_n of_o trust_n with_o the_o former_a for_o every_o master_n be_v suppose_v to_o intrust_v his_o affair_n as_o well_o to_o the_o care_n as_o the_o honesty_n of_o his_o servant_n for_o it_o will_v be_v little_a advantage_n to_o the_o master_n to_o be_v secure_v that_o his_o servant_n will_v not_o himself_o cheat_v he_o whilst_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n he_o will_v by_o his_o carelessness_n give_v opportunity_n to_o other_o to_o do_v it_o therefore_o he_o that_o do_v not_o careful_o look_v to_o his_o master_n profâ—t_n deceive_v his_o trust_n as_o well_o as_o he_o that_o just_o provide_v for_o his_o own_o a_o three_o duty_n of_o a_o servant_n be_v patience_n and_o meekness_n under_o the_o reproof_n of_o his_o master_n rebuke_v not_o answer_v again_o as_o the_o apostle_n exhort_v tit._n 2._o 9_o that_o be_v not_o make_v such_o sure_o and_o rude_a reply_n as_o may_v increase_v the_o master_n displeasure_n a_o thing_n too_o frequent_a among_o servant_n even_o in_o the_o just_a reprehension_n whereas_o st._n peter_n direct_v they_o patient_o to_o suffer_v even_o the_o most_o undeserved_a correction_n even_o when_o they_o do_v well_o and_o suffer_v for_o it_o 1_o pet._n 2._o 20._o but_o the_o patient_a suffering_n of_o rebuke_n be_v not_o all_o that_o be_v require_v of_o servant_n in_o this_o matter_n they_o must_v also_o mend_v the_o fault_n they_o be_v rebuke_v for_o and_o not_o think_v they_o have_v do_v enough_o when_o they_o have_v though_o never_o so_o dutiful_o give_v the_o master_n the_o hear_n 28._o a_o four_o duty_n of_o a_o servant_n be_v diligence_n diligence_n he_o must_v constant_o attend_v to_o all_o those_o thing_n which_o on_o the_o other_o side_n justice._n there_o be_v some_o thing_n also_o owe_v from_o the_o master_n to_o their_o servant_n as_o first_o the_o master_n be_v bind_v to_o be_v just_a to_o they_o in_o perform_v those_o condition_n on_o which_o they_o be_v hire_v such_o be_v common_o the_o give_v they_o food_n and_o wage_n and_o that_o master_n that_o withhold_v these_o be_v a_o oppressor_n 30._o their_o own_o concernment_n too_o much_o and_o god_n glory_n and_o their_o servant_n soul_n too_o little_a this_o be_v too_o common_o the_o temper_n of_o master_n they_o be_v general_o careless_a how_o their_o servant_n behave_v themselves_o towards_o god_n how_o disorder_a and_o profane_a their_o family_n be_v and_o therefore_o never_o bestow_v any_o exhortation_n or_o admonition_n to_o persuade_v they_o to_o virtue_n or_o draw_v they_o from_o vice_n such_o master_n forget_v that_o they_o must_v one_o day_n give_v a_o account_n how_o they_o have_v govern_v their_o family_n it_o be_v certain_o the_o duty_n of_o every_o ruler_n to_o endeavour_v to_o advance_v piety_n and_o godliness_n among_o all_o those_o that_o be_v under_o his_o charge_n and_o that_o as_o well_o in_o this_o lesser_a dominion_n of_o a_o family_n as_o in_o the_o great_a of_o a_o realm_n or_o nation_n of_o this_o david_n be_v so_o careful_a that_o we_o see_v he_o profess_v psal._n 101._o 7._o that_o no_o deceitful_a person_n shall_v dwell_v in_o his_o house_n that_o he_o that_o tell_v lie_n shall_v not_o tarry_v in_o his_o sight_n so_o much_o he_o think_v himself_o bind_v to_o provide_v that_o his_o family_n may_v be_v a_o kind_n of_o church_n a_o assembly_n of_o godly_a upright_a person_n and_o if_o all_o master_n will_v endeavour_v to_o have_v they_o so_o they_o will_v beside_o the_o eternal_a reward_n of_o it_o hereafter_o find_v a_o present_a benefit_n by_o it_o there_o worldly_a business_n will_v thrive_v much_o the_o better_o for_o if_o their_o servant_n be_v bring_v to_o make_v conscience_n of_o their_o way_n they_o will_v then_o not_o dare_v either_o to_o be_v negligent_a or_o false_a 31._o but_o as_o it_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o master_n to_o admonish_v and_o reprove_v their_o servant_n so_o they_o must_v also_o look_v to_o do_v it_o in_o a_o due_a manner_n that_o be_v so_o as_o may_v be_v most_o likely_a to_o do_v good_a not_o in_o passion_n and_o rage_n which_o can_v never_o work_v the_o servant_n to_o any_o thing_n but_o the_o despise_n or_o hate_v he_o but_o with_o such_o sober_a and_o grave_a speech_n as_o may_v convince_v he_o of_o his_o fault_n and_o may_v also_o assure_v he_o that_o it_o be_v a_o kind_a desire_n of_o his_o amendment_n and_o not_o a_o willingness_n to_o wreck_v his_o own_o rage_n which_o make_v the_o master_n thus_o to_o rebuke_v he_o 32._o a_o three_o duty_n of_o the_o master_n be_v to_o set_v good_a example_n of_o honesty_n and_o godliness_n to_o his_o servant_n example_n without_o which_o it_o be_v not_o all_o the_o exhortation_n or_o reproof_n he_o can_v use_v will_v ever_o do_v good_a for_o else_o he_o pull_v down_o more_o with_o his_o example_n then_o it_o be_v possible_a for_o he_o to_o build_v with_o the_o other_o and_o it_o be_v madness_n for_o a_o drunken_a or_o profane_a master_n to_o expect_v a_o sober_a and_o godly_a family_n 33._o four_o instruction_n the_o master_n be_v to_o provide_v that_o affair_n of_o his_o own_o commandâ—_n be_v to_o give_v reasonable_a and_o moderate_a command_n not_o say_v great_a burden_n on_o his_o servant_n then_o they_o be_v able_a to_o bear_v particular_o he_o be_v to_o remember_v that_o himself_o have_v as_o the_o apostle_n say_v eph._n 6._o 9_o a_o master_n in_o heaven_n to_o who_o he_o must_v give_v account_n of_o the_o usage_n of_o his_o mean_a servant_n on_o earth_n thus_o have_v i_o brief_o run_v through_o those_o several_a relation_n to_o which_o we_o owe_v a_o particular_a duty_n and_o so_o have_v do_v with_o that_o first_o branch_n of_o duty_n to_o our_o neighbour_n that_o of_o justice_n partition_n xvi_o other_o branch_n of_o our_o duty_n to_o our_o neighbour_n of_o charity_n to_o man_n sâ—uls_n body_n goods_n etc._n etc._n the_o second_o branch_n of_o duty_n to_o our_o neighbour_n be_v charity_n or_o love_n charity_n this_o be_v the_o great_a gospel-duty_n so_o often_o enjoin_v we_o by_o christ_n the_o new_a commandment_n as_o himself_o call_v it_o jo._n 13_o 34._o that_o you_o love_v one_o another_o &_o this_o be_v again_o repeat_v twice_o in_o one_o chapter_n john_n 15_o 12._o 17._o and_o the_o first_o epistle_n of_o st._n john_n be_v almost_o whole_o spend_v in_o the_o persuasion_n to_o this_o one_o duty_n by_o which_o we_o may_v see_v it_o be_v no_o matter_n of_o indifference_n but_o most_o strict_o require_v of_o all_o that_o profess_v christ._n indeed_o himself_o have_v give_v it_o as_o the_o badge_n and_o livery_n of_o his_o disciple_n john_n 13._o 35._o by_o this_o shall_v all_o man_n know_v that_o you_o be_v my_o disciple_n if_o you_o have_v love_v one_o to_o another_o this_o charity_n may_v be_v consider_v two_o way_n affection_n first_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o affection_n second_o of_o the_o action_n charity_n in_o the_o affection_n be_v a_o sincere_a kindness_n which_o dispose_v we_o to_o wish_v all_o good_a to_o other_o and_o that_o in_o all_o their_o capacity_n in_o the_o same_o charity_n bind_v we_o to_o wish_v all_o good_a to_o they_o in_o all_o these_o and_o first_o for_o the_o soul_n if_o we_o have_v any_o the_o least_o spark_n of_o charity_n soul_n we_o can_v but_o wish_v all_o good_a to_o man_n soul_n those_o precious_a thing_n which_o christ_n think_v worth_a the_o ransome_v with_o his_o own_o blood_n may_v sure_o well_o challenge_v our_o kindness_n and_o good_a wish_n and_o therefore_o if_o we_o do_v not_o thus_o love_v one_o another_o we_o be_v far_o from_o obey_v that_o command_n of_o love_a as_o he_o have_v love_v for_o it_o be_v the_o soul_n of_o man_n which_o he_o love_v so_o tender_o and_o both_o do_v and_o suffer_v so_o much_o for_o of_o this_o love_n of_o he_o to_o soul_n there_o be_v two_o great_a and_o special_a effect_n the_o first_o the_o purify_n they_o here_o by_o his_o grace_n the_o second_o the_o make_v they_o everlasting_o happy_a in_o his_o glory_n and_o both_o these_o we_o be_v so_o far_o to_o copy_n out_o in_o our_o only_o there_o where_o it_o may_v fetch_v in_o benefit_n be_v very_o far_o from_o this_o charity_n last_o it_o turn_v out_o of_o the_o heart_n all_o malice_n and_o desire_n of_o revenge_n which_o be_v so_o utter_o contrary_a to_o it_o revenge_n that_o it_o be_v impossible_a they_o shall_v both_o dwell_v in_o the_o same_o breast_n it_o be_v the_o property_n of_o love_n to_o bear_v all_o thing_n 1_o cor._n 13._o 7._o to_o endure_v the_o great_a injury_n without_o thought_n of_o make_v any_o other_o return_n to_o they_o then_o prayer_n and_o blessing_n and_o therefore_o the_o malicious_a revengeful_a person_n be_v of_o all_o other_o the_o great_a stranger_n to_o this_o charity_n it_o be_v true_a if_o this_o virtue_n be_v to_o be_v exercise_v but_o towards_o some_o sort_n of_o person_n enemy_n it_o may_v consist_v with_o malice_n to_o other_o it_o be_v possible_a for_o a_o man_n that_o bitter_o hate_v one_o to_o love_v another_o but_o we_o be_v to_o take_v notice_n that_o this_o charity_n must_v not_o be_v so_o confine_v but_o must_v extend_v and_o stretch_v itself_o to_o all_o man_n in_o the_o world_n particular_o to_o enemy_n or_o else_o it_o be_v not_o that_o divine_a charity_n commend_v to_o we_o by_o christ._n the_o love_a of_o friend_n and_o benefactor_n be_v so_o low_a a_o pitch_n that_o the_o very_a publican_n and_o sinner_n the_o worst_a of_o man_n be_v god_n kindness_n not_o only_o to_o man_n soul_n in_o general_a but_o to_o his_o own_o in_o particular_a 31._o neither_o have_v he_o be_v want_v to_o our_o body_n all_o the_o good_a thing_n they_o enjoy_v as_o health_n strength_n food_n raiment_n and_o whatever_o else_o concern_v they_o be_v mere_o his_o gift_n so_o that_o indeed_o it_o be_v impossible_a we_o shall_v be_v ignorant_a of_o his_o mercy_n to_o they_o all_o those_o outward_a comfort_n and_o refreshmet_n we_o daily_o enjoy_v be_v continual_a effect_n and_o witness_n of_o it_o and_o though_o some_o enjoy_v more_o of_o these_o than_o other_o yet_o there_o be_v no_o person_n but_o enjoy_v so_o much_o in_o one_o kind_n or_o other_o as_o abundant_o show_v god_n mercy_n and_o kindness_n to_o he_o in_o respect_n of_o his_o body_n 32._o and_o now_o sure_o you_o will_v think_v it_o but_o reasonable_a we_o shall_v love_v he_o who_o be_v in_o all_o respect_n thus_o lovely_a indeed_o this_o be_v a_o duty_n so_o general_o
