if_o so_o be_v thou_o have_v not_o a_o god_n no_o interest_n in_o he_o if_o god_n shall_v turn_v his_o back_n on_o thou_o a_o thousand_o to_o one_o but_o affliction_n come_v and_o if_o affliction_n come_v thy_o heart_n be_v go_v thou_o have_v no_o spiritual_a strength_n in_o heart_n no_o eternal_a rock_n of_o age_n to_o fly_v to_o no_o wonder_n if_o thou_o faint_v under_o they_o and_o so_o thou_o will_v certain_o do_v if_o a_o believer_n that_o have_v but_o little_a strength_n be_v apt_a to_o faint_v thou_o that_o have_v no_o strength_n will_v utter_o fall_v when_o affliction_n find_v thou_o and_o this_o lead_v to_o the_o eight_o sermon_n prov._n 24.10_o if_o thou_o faint_v in_o the_o day_n of_o adversity_n thy_o strength_n be_v small_a the_o observation_n from_o hence_o be_v to_o faint_v in_o the_o day_n of_o trouble_n argue_v a_o man_n inward_a strength_n to_o be_v but_o small_a his_o judgement_n weak_a his_o reason_n low_a his_o grace_n feeble_a his_o inward_a comfort_n faint_v least_o 2._o strengthen_v grace_n there_o be_v two_o grace_n to_o be_v strengthen_v viz._n strengthen_v faith_n i_o have_v faint_v unless_o i_o have_v believe_v etc._n etc._n strengthen_v patience_n dejection_n of_o soul_n usual_o come_v from_o impatience_n 3._o be_v much_o in_o prayer_n be_v any_o man_n afflict_v let_v he_o not_o go_n and_o sinful_o murmur_v and_o complain_v but_o let_v he_o pray_v 4._o make_v use_n of_o heart-strengthening_a consideration_n and_o that_o be_v 1._o turn_v over_o the_o promise_n they_o be_v leave_v on_o purpose_n as_o god_n bottle_n his_o vial_n of_o cordial_n to_o keep_v the_o soul_n from_o faint_v 2._o what_o ever_o befall_v remember_v it_o proceed_v from_o god_n love_n 3._o all_o that_o god_n aim_v at_o be_v to_o do_v thou_o good_a 4._o be_v the_o affection_n never_o so_o great_a it_o be_v as_o necessary_a as_o prosperity_n as_o health_n this_o thy_o physic_n be_v as_o necessary_a as_o thy_o food_n 5._o the_o issue_n of_o all_o a_o crown_n of_o glory_n these_o light_a affliction_n which_o be_v but_o for_o a_o moment_n work_v out_o for_o we_o a_o far_o more_o excellent_a and_o eternal_a weight_n of_o glory_n and_o therefore_o if_o so_o be_v there_o be_v such_o principle_n from_o which_o affliction_n flow_v and_o such_o end_n to_o which_o they_o be_v manage_v it_o be_v no_o wonder_n christ_n will_v not_o pray_v that_o we_o may_v be_v take_v out_o of_o the_o world_n from_o affliction_n but_o keep_v in_o this_o world_n from_o the_o evil_n so_o we_o fall_v on_o the_o nine_o sermon_n joh._n 17.15_o i_o pray_v not_o that_o thou_o shall_v take_v they_o out_o of_o the_o world_n but_o that_o thou_o shall_v keep_v they_o from_o the_o evil_n god_n have_v speak_v once_o yea_o twice_o have_v i_o hear_v this_o that_o power_n belong_v to_o god_n when_o god_n be_v please_v to_o strike_v twice_o upon_o the_o same_o string_n it_o seem_v he_o have_v something_o more_o than_o ordinary_a mind_n that_o you_o shall_v observe_v the_o turn_n the_o doctrine_n be_v that_o it_o be_v the_o will_n of_o jesus_n christ_n that_o his_o servant_n shall_v continue_v in_o the_o world_n though_o they_o meet_v with_o nothing_o but_o trouble_v in_o the_o world_n i_o pray_v not_o that_o thou_o shall_v take_v they_o out_o of_o the_o world_n let_v they_o stay_v lord_n be_v thou_o but_o their_o pilot_n and_o then_o keep_v they_o at_o sea_n as_o long_o as_o thou_o will_v god_n know_v his_o saint_n be_v very_o serviceable_a in_o their_o generation_n they_o be_v as_o it_o be_v a_o pillar_n of_o fire_n unto_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o world_n for_o guide_v and_o light_n by_o their_o doctrine_n and_o conversation_n they_o instruct_v the_o godly_a and_o convince_v the_o wicked_a god_n will_v have_v his_o people_n stay_v in_o the_o world_n that_o his_o power_n providence_n mercy_n and_o goodness_n in_o their_o preservation_n may_v more_o clear_o be_v discover_v that_o their_o affliction_n here_o may_v work_v out_o for_o they_o a_o eternal_a weight_n of_o glory_n these_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o god_n will_v have_v they_o stay_v in_o the_o world_n etc._n etc._n then_o 1._o saint_n carry_v yourselves_o as_o become_v such_o in_o midst_n of_o such_o a_o world_n with_o that_o wisdom_n faithfulness_n carefulness_n humility_n that_o may_v bring_v honour_n both_o to_o yourselves_o and_o to_o your_o profession_n walk_v as_o light_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o a_o crooked_a and_o perverse_a generation_n walk_v close_o wary_o innocent_o patient_o submissive_o etc._n etc._n all_o these_o be_v necessary_a while_o you_o be_v to_o folly_n which_o the_o man_n of_o the_o world_n count_v to_o be_v the_o top_n of_o wisdom_n they_o think_v it_o wisdom_n to_o choose_v sin_n rather_o than_o suffer_v 2_o this_o will_v evidence_n that_o 3.1_o 2._o if_o you_o then_o be_v rise_v with_o christ_n seek_v those_o thing_n which_o be_v above_o where_o christ_n sit_v at_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o god_n set_v your_o affection_n on_o thing_n above_o and_o not_o on_o thing_n on_o the_o earth_n three_o will_v thou_o know_v whether_o thou_o have_v a_o interest_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n or_o no_o how_o do_v thou_o like_o the_o employment_n of_o heaven_n if_o thou_o like_v the_o employment_n of_o heaven_n than_o thou_o may_v comfortable_o conclude_v that_o thou_o have_v a_o interest_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n can_v thou_o say_v thou_o delight_v to_o be_v employ_v in_o serve_v and_o in_o glorify_v god_n and_o in_o worship_v of_o he_o in_o spirit_n and_o truth_n according_a to_o his_o word_n can_v thou_o say_v in_o truth_n that_o thou_o delight_v to_o do_v the_o will_n of_o god_n here_o on_o earth_n as_o it_o be_v do_v by_o the_o angel_n in_o heaven_n and_o the_o spirit_n of_o just_a man_n make_v perfect_a there_o do_v thou_o take_v delight_n to_o be_v employ_v in_o that_o employment_n that_o the_o saint_n of_o heaven_n be_v and_o shall_v be_v for_o ever_o employ_v in_o do_v thou_o take_v pleasure_n kingdom_n when_o as_o they_o like_v not_o the_o heavenly_a employment_n in_o themselves_o or_o other_o and_o they_o care_v not_o to_o get_v acquaintance_n with_o god_n here_o on_o earth_n and_o be_v stranger_n to_o the_o duty_n of_o religion_n and_o to_o a_o life_n of_o holiness_n and_o perhaps_o spend_v and_o hour_n in_o a_o week_n or_o it_o may_v be_v in_o a_o month_n in_o secret_a prayer_n or_o in_o other_o holy_a exercise_n and_o it_o may_v be_v neglect_v the_o worship_n of_o god_n in_o their_o family_n too_o but_o if_o we_o be_v unacquainted_a with_o the_o employment_n of_o heaven_n which_o be_v to_o praise_v and_o magnify_v worship_n and_o adore_v god_n if_o thou_o delight_v not_o so_o to_o do_v thou_o can_v not_o conclude_v that_o thou_o have_v a_o title_n to_o heaven_n but_o if_o thou_o have_v a_o interest_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n than_o thou_o do_v most_o of_o all_o delight_n in_o that_o employment_n which_o have_v most_o of_o heaven_n in_o it_o four_o if_o thou_o have_v a_o interest_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n thou_o have_v a_o special_a love_n to_o the_o heir_n of_o heaven_n and_o thou_o have_v a_o near_a and_o dear_a affection_n to_o the_o people_n of_o god_n though_o they_o be_v despise_v reject_v scorn_a and_o persecute_v by_o the_o profane_a world_n and_o thou_o do_v delight_n in_o the_o company_n of_o those_o on_o earth_n which_o be_v like_a to_o be_v thy_o companion_n in_o heaven_n and_o thou_o have_v rather_o have_v the_o society_n of_o those_o howsoever_o mean_v and_o low_a in_o the_o world_n that_o have_v the_o truth_n of_o grace_n in_o they_o than_o of_o all_o the_o stately_a and_o glitter_a gallant_n of_o the_o world_n that_o be_v stranger_n to_o a_o life_n of_o holiness_n and_o the_o more_o holy_a and_o heavenly_a they_o be_v in_o their_o heart_n and_o life_n the_o more_o amiable_a will_v their_o company_n be_v to_o thou_o 1_o job_n 3.14_o psal_n 15.4_o put_v thyself_o to_o the_o question_n whether_o it_o be_v thus_o with_o thou_o or_o no_o and_o thou_o shall_v find_v out_o thy_o title_n to_o heaven_n thereby_o last_o if_o thou_o have_v a_o title_n to_o heaven_n than_o thou_o be_v so_o far_o at_o a_o point_n with_o all_o the_o riches_n and_o pleasure_n and_o enjoyment_n of_o the_o world_n as_o that_o thou_o will_v rather_o forgo_v they_o all_o than_o forsake_v christ_n and_o rather_o part_v with_o they_o all_o rather_o than_o they_o shall_v hinder_v thou_o in_o thy_o way_n towards_o heaven_n and_o if_o thou_o be_v bring_v so_o far_o at_o a_o pinch_n as_o that_o thou_o must_v either_o forsake_v thy_o interest_n in_o christ_n and_o heaven_n or_o to_o forgo_v thy_o worldly_a accommodation_n thou_o be_v very_o willing_a to_o forgo_v they_o all_o that_o thou_o may_v stick_v close_o to_o christ_n and_o go_v forward_o in_o thy_o way_n to_o thy_o heavenly_a inheritance_n thus_o it_o be_v with_o the_o apostle_n paul_n phil._n 3.7_o 8._o but_o what_o thing_n say_v he_o be_v gain_v to_o i_o those_o i_o account_v loss_n for_o christ_n yea_o doubtless_o i_o account_v all_o thing_n but_o loss_n for_o the_o excellency_n of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n jesus_n my_o lord_n for_o who_o i_o have_v suffer_v the_o loss_n of_o all_o thing_n and_o do_v account_v they_o but_o dung_n that_o i_o may_v win_v christ_n and_o be_v it_o so_o with_o we_o then_o when_o riches_n honour_n and_o pleasure_n do_v stand_v in_o competition_n with_o christ_n and_o hinder_v we_o in_o our_o progress_n in_o grace_n and_o holiness_n be_v we_o willing_a and_o ready_a to_o cast_v they_o away_o as_o we_o will_v cast_v away_o dung_n if_o it_o be_v thus_o with_o we_o in_o reality_n than_o we_o may_v conclude_v we_o have_v a_o title_n to_o heaven_n and_o a_o interest_n in_o the_o eternal_a glory_n by_o these_o thing_n belove_v you_o may_v try_v whether_o you_o have_v a_o interest_n in_o heaven_n or_o no._n have_v finish_v the_o use_n of_o examination_n i_o shall_v come_v to_o the_o next_o use_v which_o be_v the_o last_o that_o i_o shall_v speak_v unto_o which_o a_o use_v of_o exhortation_n be_v it_o so_o that_o the_o consideration_n of_o a_o believer_n interest_n in_o the_o heavenly_a glory_n be_v enough_o to_o bear_v up_o his_o spirit_n under_o all_o the_o trial_n and_o tribulation_n of_o this_o life_n then_o oh_o that_o you_o which_o can_v upon_o trial_n find_v that_o you_o have_v a_o title_n to_o heaven_n that_o you_o will_v labour_v after_o a_o interest_n in_o the_o heavenly_a glory_n if_o thou_o have_v no_o interest_n there_o what_o good_a will_v all_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o the_o world_n do_v thou_o how_o quick_o will_v all_o thy_o comfort_n and_o pleasure_n leave_v thou_o and_o what_o little_a cause_n have_v thou_o to_o rejoice_v in_o the_o abundance_n of_o outward_a thing_n if_o thou_o have_v no_o title_n to_o the_o durable_a riches_n if_o thou_o be_v void_a of_o the_o riches_n of_o grace_n here_o and_o have_v no_o title_n to_o the_o riches_n of_o glory_n hereafter_o what_o will_v thou_o do_v in_o a_o day_n of_o trial_n and_o in_o a_o hour_n of_o trouble_n and_o calamity_n what_o will_v thou_o do_v when_o loss_n cross_n trouble_n and_o vexation_n shall_v compass_v thou_o about_o if_o thou_o have_v not_o a_o heavenly_a interest_n to_o support_v thou_o under_o they_o what_o will_v thou_o do_v when_o pain_n and_o anguish_n when_o
