diversion_n in_o itself_o innocent_a stir_v his_o passion_n ruffle_n his_o mind_n and_o so_o insensible_o draw_v he_o into_o sin_n it_o may_v be_v useful_a for_o such_o a_o one_o by_o the_o the_o risk_a of_o ruine_v himself_o or_o his_o family_n for_o such_o vow_n be_v against_o christian_a charity_n god_n will_v have_v mercy_n and_o not_o sacrifice_n and_o be_v more_o delight_v with_o duty_n as_o have_v be_v before_o neglect_v a_o more_o close_o walk_v with_o god_n a_o more_o steady_a trust_n in_o he_o and_o more_o entire_a resignation_n to_o he_o and_o the_o like_a but_o let_v but_o the_o danger_n be_v over_o and_o the_o trouble_v at_o a_o end_n and_o oh_o how_o soon_o be_v such_o vow_n forget_v as_o if_o never_o make_v how_o quick_o be_v the_o sense_n of_o they_o lose_v my_o own_o thought_n be_v inquire_v what_o shall_v be_v the_o cause_n of_o this_o common_a failure_n and_o neglect_v and_o it_o be_v i_o think_v well_o worth_a our_o inquire_v after_o the_o best_a account_n i_o can_v give_v of_o it_o in_o short_a be_v this_o it_o be_v because_o there_o be_v common_o much_o more_o of_o fear_n than_o love_n in_o the_o vow_n make_v in_o trouble_n and_o distress_n person_n under_o affliction_n if_o they_o be_v not_o utter_o stupid_a be_v under_o a_o sensible_a conviction_n of_o their_o strait_a and_o close_a dependence_n upon_o god_n in_o who_o hand_n they_o be_v and_o who_o can_v do_v with_o they_o as_o seem_v good_a in_o his_o sight_n without_o any_o check_n or_o control_v this_o attend_v with_o a_o sense_n of_o gild_n be_v natural_o apt_a to_o excite_v strong_a fear_n lest_o he_o shall_v deal_v severe_o lest_o he_o shall_v utter_o take_v away_o forfeit_v mercy_n and_o punish_v the_o abuse_n of_o they_o by_o their_o withdrawment_n lest_o he_o shall_v deny_v succour_n in_o danger_n to_o those_o who_o be_v so_o sensible_a they_o be_v far_o from_o deserve_v it_o lest_o he_o shall_v suffer_v the_o desert_n of_o their_o sin_n to_o come_v upon_o they_o and_o then_o to_o be_v sure_o woeful_a must_v be_v their_o case_n which_o fear_n if_o not_o due_o temper_v with_o love_n and_o other_o grace_n will_v only_o prompt_v to_o look_v out_o for_o a_o guard_n for_o self-preservation_n and_o so_o self_n and_o not_o god_n will_v be_v main_o eye_v in_o the_o vow_v make_v in_o such_o a_o case_n if_o it_o be_v a_o true_a sense_n of_o duty_n a_o real_a love_n to_o god_n that_o be_v the_o spring_n of_o such_o vow_n they_o will_v have_v a_o foundation_n in_o the_o habitual_a temper_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o so_o the_o effect_n of_o they_o will_v be_v visible_a the_o cause_n will_v remain_v even_o when_o the_o trouble_n be_v over_o which_o excite_v the_o particular_a vow_n make_v and_o therefore_o the_o effect_n will_v appear_v but_o when_o fear_n be_v the_o sole_a spring_n of_o they_o and_o that_o fear_n wear_v off_o as_o the_o trouble_v and_o distress_n blow_v over_o we_o need_v not_o wonder_v that_o the_o vow_n be_v forget_v and_o the_o effect_n cease_v together_o with_o their_o cause_n and_o because_o it_o be_v so_o common_a a_o thing_n for_o person_n in_o their_o vow_n in_o such_o a_o case_n to_o be_v much_o more_o act_v by_o fear_n than_o love_n therefore_o be_v it_o so_o much_o more_o common_a for_o the_o sense_n of_o such_o vow_n to_o be_v lose_v than_o retain_v withal_o such_o vow_n general_o arise_v more_o from_o passionate_a transport_n than_o a_o deliberate_a confent_n of_o heart_n which_o be_v another_o cause_n of_o their_o be_v so_o often_o forget_v and_o unminded_a view_v a_o person_n in_o distress_n and_o anguish_n or_o under_o the_o apprehension_n of_o danger_n and_o you_o will_v find_v the_o spirit_n in_o a_o sort_n of_o ferment_n now_o in_o the_o body_n while_o the_o blood_n be_v in_o a_o fermentation_n the_o animal_n spirit_n be_v much_o more_o eager_a and_o impetuous_a than_o at_o other_o time_n and_o so_o it_o be_v also_o in_o the_o mind_n trouble_v and_o danger_n produce_v a_o ferment_n and_o vehement_a
commotion_n then_o present_o there_o may_v be_v a_o eager_a bent_n towards_o that_o to_o which_o there_o be_v no_o habitual_a inclination_n serious_a thought_n to_o which_o the_o soul_n be_v before_o the_o best_a have_v but_o weak_a grace_n a_o subtle_a enemy_n and_o treacherous_a heart_n and_o live_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o snare_n and_o temptation_n whereby_o they_o be_v liable_a to_o be_v withdraw_v from_o god_n and_o divert_v from_o their_o duty_n eventhose_n who_o be_v true_o serious_a in_o make_v vow_n of_o a_o more_o close_o strict_a and_o uniform_a obedience_n for_o time_n to_o come_v when_o under_o divine_a rebuke_n even_o those_o who_o make_v such_o vow_n out_o of_o true_a love_n to_o god_n and_o with_o a_o full_a consent_n of_o heart_n and_o a_o sincere_a aim_n at_o the_o divine_a glory_n be_v too_o apt_a to_o be_v tardy_a and_o defective_a they_o shall_v retain_v the_o impression_n of_o they_o sometime_o for_o a_o long_o and_o otherwhiles_o for_o a_o short_a season_n but_o general_o lt_v may_v be_v observe_v their_o warmth_n by_o degree_n abate_v there_o be_v indeed_o a_o difference_n in_o this_o case_n discernible_a between_o those_o that_o be_v upright_o in_o the_o main_a and_o those_o who_o do_v but_o trifle_v with_o god_n the_o former_a have_v defect_n as_o well_o as_o the_o latter_a but_o they_o be_v their_o burden_n and_o the_o matter_n of_o their_o sorrow_n and_o lamentation_n and_o not_o their_o content_a choice_n they_o be_v ready_a to_o aggravate_v they_o and_o seek_v not_o to_o extenuate_v their_o gild_n that_o so_o their_o sin_n may_v seem_v the_o small_a and_o they_o be_v the_o more_o easy_o satisfy_v as_o the_o latter_a usual_o do_v if_o they_o find_v the_o sense_n of_o their_o vow_n wear_v off_o they_o endeavour_v to_o renew_v it_o and_o do_v it_o shun_v the_o thought_n of_o they_o lest_o they_o shall_v be_v reminded_a of_o the_o state_n they_o be_v in_o that_o occasion_v they_o and_o so_o have_v their_o trouble_n renew_v and_o in_o many_o other_o respect_n do_v these_o two_o sort_n of_o person_n differ_v but_o yet_o that_o be_v no_o excuse_n for_o break_v divine_a bond_n and_o lose_v the_o sense_n of_o the_o divine_a vow_n they_o be_v under_o of_o which_o the_o best_a shall_v be_v afraid_a i_o will_v therefore_o caution_n all_o to_o beware_v of_o play_v fast_o and_o loose_a with_o god_n to_o beware_v of_o vow_v and_o not_o pay_v to_o beware_v of_o lose_v the_o sense_n of_o renew_v engagement_n to_o beware_v of_o slide_v again_o into_o defect_n that_o be_v lament_v and_o vow_v against_o under_o affliction_n their_o force_n or_o cause_v their_o obligation_n to_o cease_v but_o you_o be_v still_o responsible_a for_o their_o neglect_n do_v they_o if_o overlookt_a and_o disregard_v lose_v their_o bind_a
