in_o fire_n and_o blow_v it_o but_o afterward_o it_o kindle_v of_o itself_o so_o the_o difficulty_n of_o meditation_n be_v at_o first_o when_o there_o be_v but_o as_o it_o be_v a_o spark_n of_o love_n in_o the_o heart_n it_o will_v cost_v he_o some_o pain_n by_o meditation_n to_o blow_v it_o up_o to_o a_o flame_n but_o afterward_o the_o heart_n will_v be_v so_o heat_v with_o these_o flame_n of_o better_a to_o say_v thus_o lord_n i_o do_v vow_n unto_o thou_o that_o i_o will_v keep_v every_o week_n a_o day_n of_o humiliation_n or_o that_o i_o will_v not_o drink_v any_o wine_n this_o three_o month_n next_o follow_v unless_o some_o such_o occasion_n shall_v be_v that_o if_o it_o have_v then_o be_v or_o then_o think_v of_o when_o i_o make_v my_o vow_n that_o such_o or_o such_o or_o some_o other_o godly_a minister_n will_v have_v i_o consult_v with_o he_o then_o wish_v i_o not_o to_o make_v that_o vow_n then_o to_o say_v i_o will_v do_v this_o or_o that_o unless_o some_o such_o occasion_n be_v that_o be_v the_o vow_n to_o be_v make_v again_o i_o will_v not_o make_v it_o 2._o add_v this_o caution_n viz._n if_o i_o remember_v it_o i_o will_v not_o drink_v wine_n this_o month_n the_o reason_n be_v because_o if_o you_o drink_v wine_n though_o you_o do_v not_o think_v of_o it_o you_o sin_n if_o your_o vow_n be_v absolute_a but_o if_o it_o be_v with_o that_o condition_n it_o be_v not_o a_o sin_n and_o yet_o by_o add_v that_o condition_n we_o give_v ourselves_o no_o liberty_n since_o it_o be_v not_o in_o our_o power_n to_o forget_v it_o the_o next_o caution_n concern_v vow_n in_o indifferent_a thing_n be_v this_o add_v a_o penalty_n upon_o the_o breach_n of_o your_o vow_n which_o penalty_n be_v not_o add_v by_o way_n of_o hope_n of_o satisfaction_n that_o be_v gross_a ignorance_n and_o superstition_n but_o it_o must_v needs_o run_v thus_o i_o will_v spend_v half_o a_o hour_n a_o hour_n a_o day_n in_o prayer_n for_o the_o church_n to_o the_o end_n of_o this_o month_n or_o else_o give_v so_o much_o to_o the_o poor_a and_o in_o such_o a_o case_n if_o we_o do_v either_o we_o sin_v not_o the_o reason_n why_o we_o shall_v add_v a_o penalty_n to_o it_o because_o some_o inconvenience_n may_v be_v so_o great_a that_o it_o will_v bring_v some_o very_a great_a mischief_n upon_o we_o and_o then_o we_o have_v liberty_n to_o take_v the_o other_o part_n vanity_n and_o foolery_n of_o the_o world_n why_o shall_v i_o spend_v my_o time_n and_o strength_n in_o follow_v after_o you_o what_o have_v you_o do_v for_o i_o or_o what_o can_v you_o do_v when_o i_o shall_v stand_v most_o in_o need_n of_o comfort_n you_o will_v not_o only_o prove_v vanity_n but_o vexation_n of_o spirit_n solomon_n have_v try_v you_o and_o he_o have_v from_o his_o own_o experience_n and_o from_o the_o teach_n of_o the_o spirit_n have_v tell_v i_o that_o you_o be_v but_o vanity_n and_o all_o man_n when_o they_o come_v to_o die_v set_v their_o seal_n to_o this_o press_v he_o to_o holiness_n he_o may_v be_v wrought_v upon_o i_o have_v omit_v it_o hitherto_o but_o i_o be_o resolve_v sometime_o within_o a_o week_n to_o take_v some_o opportunity_n to_o speak_v serious_o and_o home_o unto_o he_o or_o give_v so_o much_o to_o the_o poor_a and_o so_o every_o week_n give_v so_o much_o to_o the_o poor_a until_o i_o have_v speak_v with_o he_o etc._n etc._n and_o since_o it_o so_o much_o concern_v i_o to_o be_v prepare_v for_o death_n i_o will_v every_o day_n make_v it_o one_o special_a clause_n of_o my_o prayer_n to_o beg_v of_o god_n that_o he_o will_v fit_v i_o for_o that_o hour_n and_o i_o will_v lay_v up_o a_o treasury_n in_o heaven_n by_o give_v to_o the_o poor_a and_o make_v myself_o friend_n of_o this_o unrighteous_a mammon_n that_o when_o i_o fail_v they_o may_v receive_v i_o into_o their_o habitation_n conclusion_n 1._o pray_v beg_v of_o god_n that_o he_o will_v increase_v in_o thou_o strong_a spiritual_a apprehension_n of_o death_n and_o that_o the_o thought_n of_o death_n may_v embitter_v every_o unlawful_a pleasure_n to_o thou_o say_v unto_o god_n lord_n how_o few_o day_n be_v between_o i_o and_o eternity_n whether_o of_o horror_n very_a power_n of_o heaven_n shall_v be_v shake_v when_o christ_n shall_v come_v with_o thousand_o of_o his_o angel_n in_o flame_a fire_n when_o a_o angel_n come_v down_o from_o heaven_n to_o roll_v away_o the_o stone_n the_o soldier_n that_o watch_v there_o become_v as_o dead_a man_n nay_o the_o holy_a man_n that_o have_v live_v have_v be_v exceed_o afraid_a at_o thing_n of_o far_o less_o
