have_v need_n look_v about_o you_o that_o you_o be_v not_o surprise_v and_o this_o in_o all_o case_n but_o especial_o in_o those_o that_o relate_v to_o rent_v the_o garment_n and_o exterior_a observation_n because_o your_o flatterer_n will_v persuade_v you_o in_o that_o case_n that_o your_o sin_n be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v a_o sin_n that_o it_o be_v a_o service_n to_o god_n and_o a_o service_n to_o his_o church_n according_a to_o that_o prophecy_n of_o our_o saviour_n joh._n 16.2_o the_o time_n come_v that_o whosoever_o kill_v you_o will_v think_v that_o he_o do_v god_n service_n rent_n their_o garment_n let_v not_o your_o command_n run_v counter_a or_o contrary_a to_o the_o lord_n lest_o you_o be_v find_v sighter_n against_o god_n and_o advancer_n of_o your_o law_n in_o opposition_n to_o and_o above_o the_o law_n of_o the_o almighty_a in_o the_o prophecy_n of_o the_o prophet_n malachy_n you_o find_v the_o lord_n displease_v that_o they_o offer_v up_o to_o he_o such_o blind_a and_o lame_a and_o sick_a sacrifice_n that_o their_o governor_n will_v not_o accept_v from_o their_o hand_n though_o they_o offer_v it_o unto_o they_o mal._n 1.8_o and_o sure_o the_o lord_n will_v be_v much_o more_o displease_v if_o governor_n shall_v punish_v their_o people_n for_o offer_v such_o sacrifice_n as_o be_v acceptable_a unto_o he_o and_o the_o psalmist_n tell_v you_o that_o the_o sacrifice_n that_o be_v acceptable_a to_o god_n be_v a_o break_a spirit_n for_o a_o break_a and_o a_o contrite_a heart_n say_v he_o o_o god_n thou_o will_v not_o despise_v psal_n 51.17_o and_o therefore_o have_v we_o this_o command_n in_o the_o text_n to_o rend_v our_o heart_n as_o the_o only_a sacrifice_n that_o be_v acceptable_a unto_o god_n and_o will_v you_o dare_v to_o contradict_v this_o command_n and_o oblige_v your_o people_n to_o rent_n their_o garment_n which_o the_o lord_n have_v express_o forbid_v as_o that_o which_o be_v unacceptable_a to_o he_o god_n sorbid_v and_o thus_o much_o to_o the_o governor_n come_v we_o now_o to_o the_o second_o part_n of_o this_o admonition_n to_o the_o govern_v be_v it_o so_o that_o true_a repentance_n and_o such_o as_o be_v acceptable_a unto_o god_n consist_v not_o in_o any_o formal_a or_o exterior_a observation_n then_o be_v you_o admonish_v to_o two_o duty_n first_o to_o moderation_n second_o to_o peaceableness_n 1._o to_o moderation_n that_o be_v a_o great_a exhortation_n the_o apostle_n give_v we_o in_o the_o four_o of_o philip._n and_o five_o verse_n let_v your_o moderation_n be_v know_v unto_o all_o man_n and_o it_o be_v a_o admirable_a reason_n that_o the_o apostle_n annex_v to_o enforce_v his_o exhortation_n for_o the_o lord_n say_v he_o be_v at_o hand_n you_o see_v here_o in_o the_o text_n and_o from_o the_o plain_a word_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o it_o be_v not_o rent_v your_o garment_n nor_o any_o exterial_a observation_n but_o the_o rent_v of_o the_o heart_n that_o be_v command_v and_o accept_v of_o god_n then_o be_v not_o immoderate_a for_o any_o external_a observance_n for_o if_o you_o be_v true_a religion_n never_o will_v nor_o can_v take_v root_n in_o you_o in_o the_o four_o of_o st._n john_n christ_n meet_v with_o a_o poor_a samaritan_n woman_n and_o discourse_v she_o so_o long_o that_o at_o length_n she_o see_v he_o be_v a_o prophet_n and_o therefore_o resolve_v that_o she_o will_v improve_v the_o present_a opportunity_n but_o how_o not_o by_o inquire_v after_o
