remorse_n of_o conscience_n without_o the_o sense_n and_o feel_n of_o sin_n or_o want_v of_o mercy_n this_o david_n and_o the_o rest_n of_o god_n servant_n know_v by_o woeful_a experience_n that_o if_o they_o have_v dye_v without_o repentance_n they_o have_v perish_v of_o all_o disease_n they_o be_v most_o dangerous_a that_o be_v least_o feel_v as_o a_o lethargy_n or_o dead_a palsy_n or_o the_o like_a so_o it_o be_v a_o most_o fearful_a estate_n for_o any_o man_n to_o lie_v in_o sin_n without_o the_o feel_n of_o it_o for_o â—â—at_n be_v a_o sign_n that_o the_o heart_n be_v harden_v in_o second_o the_o manner_n of_o it_o namely_o like_o man_n that_o be_v when_o i_o mean_v in_o good_a earnest_n to_o make_v my_o covenant_n with_o you_o and_o promise_v that_o i_o will_v be_v your_o god_n gilead_n that_o it_o be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v a_o nurse_n to_o religion_n that_o it_o be_v rather_o a_o cruel_a steppedame_n to_o banish_v religion_n and_o piety_n so_o far_o from_o a_o holy_a city_n and_o sanctuary_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o it_o be_v even_o a_o den_n of_o thief_n a_o harbour_n for_o all_o villainy_n impiety_n and_o prophanesse_n now_o this_o be_v a_o wonderful_a thing_n that_o the_o priest_n and_o levit_n in_o who_o there_o ought_v to_o have_v shine_v great_a holiness_n that_o shall_v have_v be_v a_o example_n to_o the_o common_a people_n that_o all_o man_n see_v their_o good_a example_n their_o holiness_n and_o piety_n may_v the_o rather_o have_v follow_v they_o that_o they_o shall_v be_v even_o captain_n and_o ringleader_n to_o all_o impiety_n cruelty_n and_o miserable_a abomination_n then_o we_o see_v why_o the_o prophet_n be_v so_o sharp_a to_o inveigh_v against_o gilead_n and_o to_o cry_v out_o against_o this_o city_n namely_o because_o it_o shall_v have_v heen_n a_o sanctuary_n of_o the_o lord_n full_a of_o knowledge_n piety_n and_o godliness_n but_o the_o same_o be_v rather_o a_o den_n of_o devil_n and_o a_o harbour_n for_o all_o manner_n of_o sin_n and_o impiety_n thus_o have_v see_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o word_n now_o let_v we_o see_v what_o doctrine_n do_v arise_v from_o they_o this_o be_v a_o grievous_a accusation_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o that_o city_n of_o who_o the_o lord_n may_v expect_v most_o care_n most_o holiness_n and_o duty_n of_o religion_n who_o shall_v have_v be_v most_o instruct_v in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n have_v bestow_v so_o many_o mean_n upon_o they_o that_o they_o shall_v thus_o degenerate_v and_o grow_v more_o vile_a than_o any_o other_o to_o be_v the_o harbour_n of_o all_o sin_n and_o impiety_n doct._n 1_o then_o hence_o we_o learn_v that_o those_o place_n which_o have_v great_a mean_n of_o knowledge_n of_o instruction_n and_o therefore_o shall_v abound_v in_o all_o holy_a duty_n duty_n those_o that_o have_v the_o great_a mean_n of_o knowledge_n shall_v abound_v most_o in_o holy_a duty_n if_o they_o grow_v more_o wicked_a and_o abound_v more_o with_o sin_n their_o judgement_n be_v fearful_a and_o very_a grievous_a we_o see_v this_o in_o gilead_n here_o how_o the_o lord_n complain_v of_o it_o here_o that_o those_o that_o shall_v have_v be_v even_o a_o nurse_n to_o religion_n yea_o a_o mother_n city_n from_o whence_o religion_n shall_v have_v flow_v into_o the_o country_n be_v notwithstanding_o a_o wicked_a city_n full_a of_o blood_n and_o full_a of_o all_o
