ourselves_o that_o we_o answer_v god_n promise_n by_o faith_n and_o his_o command_n by_o obedience_n yet_o we_o must_v have_v this_o obedience_n though_o from_o he_o before_o we_o can_v challenge_v any_o thing_n at_o god_n hand_n it_o be_v arrogant_a presumption_n to_o hope_v for_o heaven_n and_o salvation_n before_o we_o have_v grace_n to_o answer_v all_o god_n promise_n and_o command_n by_o a_o good_a conscience_n to_o come_v more_o particular_o to_o the_o word_n some_o will_v have_v it_o the_o question_n the_o it_o demand_v of_o a_o good_a conscience_n but_o that_o follow_v the_o other_o for_o when_o we_o answer_v true_o the_o interrogatory_n in_o baptism_n when_o we_o believe_v and_o renounce_v than_o we_o may_v from_o a_o good_a conscience_n demand_v of_o god_n all_o the_o good_a in_o christ_n we_o may_v call_v upon_o he_o &_o pray_v unto_o he_o have_v not_o christ_n die_v and_o make_v peace_n between_o thou_o and_o we_o and_o may_v we_o not_o triumph_v against_o all_o conscience_n it_o will_v take_v up_o all_o the_o time_n to_o speak_v of_o conscience_n in_o general_a and_o it_o be_v not_o to_o much_o purpose_n i_o will_v what_o take_v it_o as_o it_o serve_v my_o purpose_n at_o this_o time_n a_o good_a conscience_n in_o this_o place_n be_v a_o conscience_n peaceable_a and_o gracious_a peace_n and_o purity_n make_v up_o a_o good_a conscience_n to_o make_v this_o clear_a there_o be_v three_o degree_n of_o a_o good_a conscience_n though_o the_o last_o be_v here_o mean_v especial_o there_o be_v first_o a_o good_a conscience_n that_o be_v trouble_v a_o trouble_a good_a conscience_n and_o then_o conscience_n a_o pacify_v good_a conscience_n and_o then_o a_o gracious_a good_a conscience_n a_o trouble_a good_a conscience_n be_v when_o the_o conscience_n spirit_n by_o conviction_n open_v to_o we_o what_o we_o be_v in_o ourselves_o he_o open_v our_o sin_n and_o the_o danger_n and_o soulnesse_n of_o our_o sin_n whereupon_o our_o conscience_n be_v terrify_v and_o affright_v therefore_o this_o good_a conscience_n whereby_o we_o be_v convince_v of_o our_o estate_n by_o nature_n in_o itself_o it_o be_v a_o good_a conscience_n offer_v all_o good_a in_o christ_n and_o command_v we_o &_o not_o only_o so_o but_o invite_v we_o come_v unto_o i_o all_o you_o that_o be_v weary_a etc._n etc._n nay_o he_o beseech_v we_o we_o beseech_v you_o to_o be_v reconcile_v he_o take_v all_o course_n now_o his_o spirit_n go_v with_o these_o entreaty_n he_o persuade_v the_o soul_n that_o he_o be_v our_o gracious_a father_n in_o christ_n jesus_n christ_n have_v suffer_v such_o great_a thing_n and_o he_o be_v god_n and_o man_n he_o be_v willing_a and_o able_a to_o save_v we_o consider_v he_o be_v anoint_v of_o god_n for_o good_a conscience_n towards_o god_n and_o towards_o man_n when_o the_o conscience_n be_v appease_v and_o quiet_v than_o it_o be_v fit_a to_o serve_v god_n as_o a_o instrument_n that_o be_v in_o tune_n a_o instrument_n out_o of_o tune_n yield_v nothing_o but_o harsh_a music_n so_o when_o the_o soul_n and_o conscience_n be_v distemper_v and_o not_o set_v at_o peace_n it_o be_v not_o gracious_a so_o now_o you_o see_v the_o order_n there_o be_v a_o trouble_a good_a conscience_n and_o a_o peaceable_a good_a conscience_n and_o then_o a_o gracious_a heart_n forwhile_o conscience_n be_v not_o at_o peace_n by_o the_o blood_n and_o resurrection_n of_o jesus_n christ_n by_o consider_v he_o and_o by_o application_n of_o he_o there_o be_v no_o grace_n nor_o service_n of_o god_n with_o that_o heart_n but_o the_o heart_n shun_v god_n it_o hate_v god_n and_o murmur_n against_o god_n man_n think_v why_o shall_v they_o do_v good_a deed_n when_o they_o believe_v not_o when_o they_o cast_v not_o whatsoever_o be_v not_o of_o faith_n and_o love_n it_o be_v sin_n the_o heart_n can_v but_o be_v afraid_a of_o god_n and_o wish_v there_o be_v no_o god_n and_o murmur_n and_o repine_v till_o it_o be_v pacify_v that_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o the_o apostle_n in_o the_o latter_a part_n of_o their_o epistle_n they_o press_v conscience_n of_o good_a duty_n when_o they_o have_v teach_v christian_n before_o and_o establish_v they_o in_o christ_n because_o all_o duty_n issue_v from_o faith_n if_o they_o come_v not_o thence_o they_o be_v nothing_o if_o there_o be_v first_o faith_n in_o christ_n then_o there_o will_v be_v a_o good_a conscience_n in_o our_o life_n and_o conversation_n and_o from_o the_o gracious_a conscience_n come_v the_o increase_n of_o a_o peaceable_a conscience_n there_o we_o be_v in_o the_o way_n to_o heaven_n if_o they_o be_v sanctify_v by_o prayer_n before_o hand_n and_o do_v it_o in_o conscience_n and_o obedience_n to_o god_n that_o have_v set_v we_o in_o this_o way_n there_o be_v two_o calling_n our_o general_n and_o particular_a call_n and_o we_o show_v religion_n that_o be_v our_o general_a call_n in_o our_o particular_a call_n as_o we_o be_v place_v in_o this_o or_o that_o call_n and_o what_o we_o do_v in_o either_o of_o these_o calling_n be_v the_o way_n to_o heaven_n now_o the_o care_n of_o a_o christian_a be_v that_o he_o be_v well_o advise_v what_o to_o do_v and_o on_o what_o ground_n and_o even_o as_o a_o traveller_n consider_v of_o thing_n journey_n by_o the_o way_n as_o they_o make_v to_o his_o end_n to_o further_a his_o journey_n or_o hinder_v his_o journey_n he_o look_v to_o heaven_n as_o his_o country_n that_o he_o hope_n for_o and_o therefore_o he_o do_v not_o tangle_v himself_o with_o any_o more_o than_o may_v help_v he_o home_o if_o they_o hinder_v he_o once_o away_o they_o go_v if_o they_o may_v help_v he_o he_o take_v they_o a_o christian_a in_o his_o travail_n in_o the_o way_n to_o heaven_n consider_v of_o thing_n that_o may_v fall_v out_o by_o the_o way_n as_o they_o may_v help_v and_o further_o he_o to_o heaven_n if_o i_o find_v that_o thing_n thing_n though_o they_o be_v indifferent_a in_o themselves_o if_o they_o trouble_v i_o in_o my_o way_n to_o heaven_n it_o may_v be_v they_o be_v not_o so_o to_o another_o but_o they_o be_v to_o i_o though_o another_o can_v do_v it_o yet_o i_o must_v consider_v whether_o i_o can_v do_v it_o and_o find_v myself_o enlarge_v to_o heaven_n as_o at_o other_o time_n if_o not_o away_o with_o it_o it_o be_v not_o indifferent_a to_o i_o because_o it_o hinder_v my_o journey_n to_o heaven_n a_o wise_a traveller_n will_v venture_v upon_o thing_n and_o course_n as_o they_o serve_v or_o hinder_v the_o main_a though_o they_o be_v thing_n perhaps_o that_o he_o can_v over-well_a spare_v yet_o if_o they_o trouble_v he_o in_o his_o journey_n off_o they_o go_v that_o he_o may_v be_v more_o expediâ—…e_n and_o right_n in_o his_o way_n i_o wonder_v at_o the_o boldness_n of_o many_o that_o profess_v themselves_o religious_a and_o yet_o dare_v when_fw-mi ture_n upon_o any_o thing_n undoubted_o if_o they_o do_v search_v their_o own_o heart_n they_o can_v not_o but_o say_v that_o such_o course_n do_v dead_a and_o dull_v they_o and_o make_v they_o forget_v religion_n that_o such_o company_n be_v not_o safe_a to_o keep_v i_o find_v myself_o the_o worse_a by_o it_o why_o shall_v i_o venture_v upon_o any_o thing_n that_o may_v stop_v and_o hinder_v or_o cool_v and_o dead_a i_o in_o my_o way_n to_o heaven_n if_o a_o man_n be_v wise_a he_o will_v consider_v of_o thing_n as_o they_o help_v or_o hinder_v he_o to_o that_o as_o for_o sin_n whereof_o we_o be_v convict_v it_o be_v the_o apostle_n counsel_n heb._n 12._o he_o put_v it_o sin_n out_o of_o all_o question_n we_o must_v cast_v off_o all_o that_o burden_n that_o press_v down_o etc._n etc._n a_o traveller_n will_v not_o have_v a_o burden_n upon_o he_o the_o sin_n that_o hang_v so_o fast_o on_o we_o must_v labour_v to_o mortify_v to_o kill_v our_o lust_n and_o corruption_n more_o and_o more_o and_o never_o leave_v till_o we_o have_v cast_v they_o off_o these_o thing_n be_v undeniable_a i_o speak_v before_o of_o thing_n in_o themselves_o indifferent_a and_o to_o other_o man_n in_o different_a if_o they_o have_v a_o large_a measure_n of_o wisdom_n but_o for_o corruption_n and_o sin_n they_o fight_v against_o the_o soul_n they_o fasten_v we_o to_o the_o world_n therefore_o above_o all_o thing_n we_o must_v cast_v off_o they_o as_o saint_n peter_n say_v excellent_o in_o 1_o pet._n to_o come_v a_o little_a further_o to_o the_o point_n how_o know_v we_o that_o a_o man_n quest._n have_v a_o good_a conscience_n a_o peaceable_a good_a conscience_n when_o it_o be_v trouble_v for_o here_o be_v the_o difficulty_n a_o conscience_n be_v never_o so_o peaceable_a and_o gracious_a but_o there_o be_v a_o principle_n of_o rebellion_n in_o we_o the_o flesh_n that_o cast_v in_o doubt_n rebellion_n to_o every_o command_n in_o the_o word_n how_o shall_v a_o man_n know_v that_o he_o have_v a_o peaceable_a good_a conscience_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o this_o rebellion_n trouble_v let_v he_o look_v if_o the_o conscience_n answer_n god_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o opposition_n and_o rebellion_n my_o flesh_n and_o blood_n say_v thus_o my_o sin_n be_v great_a and_o satan_n lay_v it_o hard_o to_o my_o charge_n yet_o trouble_n notwithstanding_o because_o god_n have_v promise_v and_o command_v i_o cast_v myself_o upon_o god_n let_v we_o ask_v our_o own_o heart_n and_o conscience_n what_o they_o say_v to_o god_n what_o be_v the_o answer_n to_o god_n we_o see_v what_o job_n say_v though_o he_o kill_v i_o yet_o i_o will_v trust_v in_o he_o flesh_n and_o blood_n will_v have_v
