baptism_n and_o admission_n this_o latter_a consider_v they_o as_o in_o the_o church_n and_o tend_v to_o the_o further_a edification_n the_o end_n of_o the_o former_a be_v regeneration_n and_o conversion_n and_o the_o end_n of_o the_o latter_a be_v spiritual_a nutrition_n and_o confirmation_n for_o the_o subject_n of_o this_o teach_n be_v such_o as_o as_o have_v promise_v but_o as_o yet_o not_o perform_v obedience_n such_o as_o be_v but_o babe_n and_o child_n who_o condition_n require_v a_o tender_a and_o continual_a care_n in_o their_o teacher_n and_o though_o they_o know_v some_o of_o the_o commandment_n by_o a_o general_a and_o imperfect_a knowledge_n yet_o they_o have_v not_o so_o clear_a and_o distinct_a knowledge_n of_o many_o of_o they_o in_o particular_a and_o do_v need_v not_o only_a instruction_n but_o exhortation_n 3._o therefore_o this_o teach_n be_v not_o a_o bare_a instruction_n for_o to_o inform_v their_o understandding_n but_o also_o exhortation_n to_o stir_v they_o up_o diligent_o constant_o and_o zealous_o to_o observe_v the_o commandment_n make_v know_v unto_o they_o and_o beside_o with_o exhortation_n sometime_o must_v be_v some_o admonition_n and_o reproof_n with_o direction_n in_o particular_a case_n first_o knowledge_n be_v necessary_a for_o how_o can_v they_o obey_v when_o they_o know_v not_o the_o particular_a command_n to_o be_v obey_v and_o to_o what_o purpose_n be_v knowledge_n though_o never_o so_o clear_a and_o distinct_a if_o they_o do_v they_o not_o when_o our_o saviour_n have_v give_v his_o apostle_n a_o commandment_n and_o improve_v it_o by_o his_o own_o example_n he_o add_v if_o you_o know_v these_o thing_n bless_a be_v you_o if_o you_o do_v they_o 13._o 17._o so_o that_o it_o be_v plain_a that_o the_o end_n of_o this_o teach_n be_v the_o do_v and_o observation_n of_o christ_n commandment_n and_o therefore_o as_o they_o must_v represent_v they_o clear_o to_o their_o understanding_n so_o they_o must_v press_v the_o obedience_n upon_o the_o strong_a motive_n and_o let_v they_o know_v that_o though_o their_o knowledge_n shall_v be_v sufficient_a and_o they_o shall_v have_v perfect_a direction_n yet_o without_o the_o continual_a supply_n of_o god_n grace_n they_o will_v not_o be_v able_a to_o perform_v any_o thing_n and_o from_o all_o this_o we_o may_v observe_v that_o profession_n and_o knowledge_n will_v not_o be_v sufficient_a to_o salvation_n this_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o the_o apostle_n do_v labour_n so_o much_o not_o only_o to_o confirm_v their_o disciple_n and_o convert_v but_o also_o exhort_v they_o to_o obedience_n profession_n and_o practice_n must_v go_v hand_n in_o hand_n and_o never_o part_v asunder_o profession_n and_o knowledge_n without_o obedience_n be_v but_o hypocrisy_n a_o outward_a form_n and_o shadow_n of_o christianity_n without_o the_o soul_n and_o power_n but_o where_o obedience_n accompany_v profession_n it_o will_v be_v a_o evidence_n of_o the_o sincerity_n of_o their_o faith_n and_o of_o their_o happy_a condition_n that_o they_o be_v pass_v from_o death_n to_o life_n 4._o the_o principal_a thing_n in_o this_o proposition_n be_v the_o matter_n of_o this_o teach_n and_o that_o be_v the_o observation_n of_o all_o christ_n commandment_n the_o matter_n of_o the_o former_a doctrine_n be_v truth_n to_o be_v believe_v and_o profess_v
