why_o god_n require_v these_o particular_o five_o general_a reason_n of_o the_o whole_a point_n that_o such_o religious_a fast_v join_v with_o justice_n and_o mercy_n be_v special_o please_v to_o god_n i._o well_o 1._o wherein_o these_o faster_n do_v well_o you_o shall_v find_v they_o do_v well_o in_o sundry_a particular_n which_o have_v a_o very_a fair_a face_n 1._o they_o be_v very_o diligent_a in_o their_o devotion_n v._o 2._o they_o seek_v i_o daily_o 2._o they_o take_v pleasure_n in_o know_v god_n will_v as_o though_o they_o have_v be_v whole_o bend_v upon_o do_v their_o duty_n in_o the_o same_o verse_n and_o delight_v to_o know_v my_o way_n as_o a_o nation_n that_o do_v righteousness_n and_o forsake_v not_o the_o ordinance_n of_o their_o god_n 3._o they_o appear_v very_o forward_o to_o make_v enquiry_n after_o the_o command_v of_o god_n they_o ask_v of_o i_o the_o ordinance_n of_o justice_n 4._o they_o seem_v to_o be_v very_o glad_a to_o have_v a_o opportunity_n and_o freedom_n to_o frequent_v the_o service_n of_o god_n they_o take_v delight_n in_o approach_v to_o god_n 5._o unto_o all_o which_o they_o add_v solemn_a fast_v sometime_o v._o 3._o with_o much_o outward_a show_n of_o humiliation_n and_o loud_a cry_n cause_v their_o voice_n to_o be_v hear_v on_o high_a v._o 4._o seem_v to_o afflict_v their_o soul_n and_o apparent_o bow_v down_o their_o head_n like_o bulrush_n and_o spread_a sackcloth_n and_o ash_n under_o they_o v._o 3_o and_o all_o this_o be_v very_o well_o thus_o far_o ii_o amisle_n 2._o what_o they_o old_a amisle_n but_o now_o wherein_o do_v they_o fail_v or_o come_v short_a 1._o they_o be_v not_o exact_o strict_a in_o the_o very_a outward_a part_n of_o their_o humiliation_n upon_o their_o fast_a day_n behold_v in_o the_o day_n of_o pleasure_n so_o borrow_v or_o steal_v away_o some_o of_o that_o which_o be_v whole_o consecrate_v to_o god_n 2._o while_o they_o fast_v themselves_o they_o yet_o set_v their_o inferior_n to_o work_n and_o exact_v all_o your_o labour_n in_o the_o same_o vers_n though_o it_o concern_v all_o sort_n as_o well_o as_o any_o to_o humble_v themselves_o before_o god_n at_o those_o time_n 3._o they_o have_v hatred_n and_o malice_n and_o oppression_n in_o their_o mind_n while_o they_o fast_v 4._o and_o even_o have_v such_o intention_n as_o to_o make_v their_o fast_n serve_v to_o promote_v their_o malicious_a and_o covetous_a oppression_n v._n 4._o behold_v you_o fast_o for_o strife_n and_o debate_n and_o to_o smite_v with_o the_o fist_n of_o wickedness_n 5._o what_o ever_o seem_v humiliation_n they_o have_v on_o their_o fastday_n it_o be_v no_o more_o to_o be_v see_v or_o hear_v of_o after_o the_o day_n be_v once_o over_o as_o appear_v by_o v._o 5._o a_o day_n for_o a_o man_n to_o afflict_v his_o soul_n etc._n etc._n though_o they_o do_v not_o keep_v the_o whole_a day_n as_o be_v note_v before_o yet_o when_o the_o day_n be_v once_o past_a all_o they_o then_o pretend_v be_v as_o it_o be_v quite_o forget_v which_o when_o we_o read_v we_o need_v not_o wonder_v that_o god_n reject_v they_o and_o their_o fast_n rather_o we_o may_v well_o wonder_v at_o their_o pride_n and_o self_n conceit_n their_o seem_a piety_n they_o be_v invite_v to_o expect_v justice_n and_o compassion_n be_v either_o injurious_a or_o want_v to_o they_o they_o usual_o make_v loud_a cry_n in_o the_o ear_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o he_o give_v such_o a_o special_a charge_n to_o have_v care_n of_o those_o duty_n of_o the_o second_o table_n as_o well_o as_o they_o seem_v to_o be_v of_o any_o of_o the_o first_o according_a to_o that_o of_o the_o apostle_n tit._n 3.8_o this_o be_v a_o faithful_a say_n and_o these_o thing_n i_o will_v that_o thou_o affirm_v constant_o that_o those_o that_o have_v believe_v almost_o all_o national_a fast_n be_v upon_o such_o occasion_n when_o they_o be_v under_o oppression_n of_o enemy_n or_o in_o fear_n of_o they_o or_o in_o danger_n of_o famine_n and_o so_o of_o want_n and_o so_o they_o betake_v themselves_o to_o god_n for_o support_v and_o supply_v and_o to_o incline_v man_n heart_n to_o do_v they_o right_o and_o to_o do_v they_o good_a now_o god_n can_v endure_v that_o they_o shall_v do_v this_o while_o themselves_o neglect_v their_o own_o duty_n to_o other_o man_n and_o will_v not_o help_v they_o or_o not_o do_v they_o justice_n when_o it_o be_v in_o their_o hand_n to_o do_v it_o therefore_o when_o they_o fast_a and_o pray_v to_o he_o he_o lay_v a_o equal_a law_n upon_o they_o that_o they_o join_v justice_n and_o mercy_n to_o their_o humiliation_n and_o
