yet_o love_v not_o the_o company_n of_o the_o saint_n they_o spend_v not_o on_o wicked_a purpose_n and_o yet_o do_v no_o good_a with_o that_o they_o have_v they_o be_v no_o enemy_n to_o religion_n but_o they_o be_v not_o zealous_a friend_n they_o be_v no_o maintainer_n of_o disorder_n in_o town_n yet_o do_v not_o zealous_o set_v themselves_o against_o such_o this_o be_v not_o sufficient_a to_o make_v a_o good_a man_n nor_o to_o see_v good_a day_n for_o every_o tree_n that_o bear_v not_o good_a fruit_n 17._o shall_v be_v hew_v down_o and_o 21._o the_o barren_a figtree_n be_v curse_v 22._o not_o of_o or_o not_o so_o much_o till_o they_o come_v to_o pass_v as_o touch_v the_o incarnation_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n both_o nature_n in_o one_o person_n etc._n etc._n this_o they_o desire_v to_o see_v before_o he_o come_v 8._o and_o this_o be_v figure_v by_o the_o cherubim_v look_v down_o towards_o the_o mercy-seat_n which_o cover_v the_o ark_n which_o be_v a_o figure_n of_o christ_n signify_v that_o they_o desire_v to_o look_v into_o that_o mystery_n of_o his_o incarnation_n and_o when_o they_o see_v it_o they_o admire_v thereat_o even_o to_o see_v the_o eternal_a son_n of_o god_n join_v to_o man_n nature_n it_o to_o be_v worship_v without_o idolatry_n and_o his_o manhood_n to_o suffer_v the_o deity_n remain_v free_a without_o suffer_v so_o also_o by_o the_o church_n they_o learn_v the_o mystery_n of_o the_o call_n of_o the_o gentile_n 10._o but_o now_o that_o which_o they_o desire_v to_o see_v be_v that_o which_o be_v yet_o to_o come_v namely_o the_o fullness_n perfection_n and_o accomplishment_n of_o the_o salvation_n of_o god_n church_n and_o people_n church_n namely_o to_o see_v the_o day_n of_o judgement_n when_o god_n shall_v be_v perfect_o glorify_v in_o his_o saint_n they_o desire_v this_o 1._o because_o they_o be_v enforce_v to_o see_v now_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o sin_n in_o the_o world_n yea_o those_o duty_n which_o the_o saint_n themselves_o to_o heaven_n much_o more_o clear_o than_o now_o there_o shall_v be_v as_o much_o and_o more_o difference_n between_o that_o which_o we_o shall_v know_v then_o 2._o and_o that_o which_o we_o know_v now_o as_o between_o we_o and_o the_o dark_a time_n before_o we_o under_o the_o law_n 12._o here_o as_o child_n we_o be_v weak_a and_o rather_o stammer_v then_o speak_v plain_o of_o god_n his_o word_n and_o work_n but_o when_o in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v we_o shall_v come_v to_o man_n state_n it_o will_v be_v far_o otherwise_o here_o we_o see_v with_o spectacle_n of_o the_o word_n and_o sacrament_n but_o there_o without_o and_o that_o most_o perfect_o 1._o be_v there_o such_o a_o happy_a condition_n remain_v for_o all_o believer_n 1_o o_o how_o shall_v we_o rejoice_v that_o be_v enter_v into_o the_o first_o degree_n of_o it_o and_o expect_v the_o other_o how_o shall_v we_o bless_v god_n for_o his_o gospel_n and_o for_o the_o pain_n which_o we_o have_v take_v herein_o to_o attain_v the_o same_o yea_o how_o shall_v we_o walk_v thankful_o that_o look_v for_o such_o a_o state_n how_o zealous_o and_o heavenly-minded_n not_o defile_v ourselves_o with_o this_o world_n nor_o stick_v here_o but_o mount_v up_o in_o our_o affection_n and_o have_v our_o conversation_n there_o 2._o how_o shall_v we_o long_o for_o the_o day_n of_o our_o dissolution_n 2._o to_o enter_v another_o costliness_n be_v not_o meet_v that_o which_o in_o the_o end_n of_o feast_n be_v oftentimes_o wasteful_o spend_v will_v go_v a_o great_a way_n with_o the_o poor_a and_o much_o comfort_v they_o if_o the_o charge_n be_v employ_v this_o way_n but_o many_o that_o stand_v not_o at_o many_o shilling_n this_o way_n will_v grudge_v at_o as_o many_o penny_n to_o give_v to_o the_o poor_a it_o be_v a_o but_o our_o saviour_n bid_v we_o not_o cast_v they_o away_o but_o make_v friend_n of_o they_o 29._o even_o employ_v they_o well_o to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n the_o giver_n thereof_o and_o our_o scarce_o visit_v the_o sick_a but_o either_o be_v so_o entangle_v with_o care_n and_o business_n of_o the_o world_n 4._o that_o they_o can_v or_o so_o addict_v to_o their_o pleasure_n that_o they_o will_v not_o mind_v this_o thus_o they_o be_v less_o fit_a for_o preach_v do_v the_o less_o good_a and_o receive_v all_o at_o a_o venture_n to_o the_o sacrament_n which_o be_v a_o fearful_a thing_n 3._o as_o people_n must_v be_v careful_a for_o their_o minister_n who_o have_v need_n of_o no_o worldly_a care_n hang_v on_o they_o that_o they_o may_v attend_v on_o their_o care_n of_o they_o 3_o so_o they_o must_v be_v willing_a that_o their_o minister_n have_v a_o care_n of_o they_o and_o deal_v private_o with_o they_o and_o they_o this_o many_o can_v away_o with_o but_o will_v that_o the_o minister_n shall_v content_v himself_o with_o see_v they_o at_o church_n but_o not_o to_o look_v into_o their_o behaviour_n in_o their_o family_n or_o to_o pry_v into_o their_o life_n or_o deal_v private_o or_o particular_o who_o yet_o if_o they_o have_v a_o shepherd_n look_v that_o he_o shall_v diligent_o tend_v their_o sheep_n all_o day_n and_o look_v to_o they_o particular_o as_o well_o as_o feed_v they_o they_o shall_v be_v glad_a when_o the_o minister_n will_v come_v to_o their_o house_n and_o sit_v with_o they_o confer_v with_o they_o and_o they_o of_o heavenly_a thing_n etc._n etc._n but_o if_o they_o shall_v know_v when_o he_o will_v come_v they_o will_v be_v sure_a to_o be_v out_o of_o the_o way_n this_o be_v a_o sign_n of_o a_o ill_a conscience_n that_o they_o can_v abide_v the_o trial_n and_o which_o be_v worse_o of_o a_o bad_a heart_n that_o be_v not_o willing_a to_o mend_v but_o there_o be_v another_o extremity_n when_o people_n will_v expect_v too_o much_o at_o the_o minister_n hand_n as_o to_o visit_v they_o at_o their_o house_n more_o often_o then_o the_o largeness_n of_o the_o place_n and_o his_o strength_n and_o time_n will_v permit_v which_o though_o it_o be_v a_o good_a fault_n and_o a_o rare_a &_o therefore_o to_o be_v much_o bear_v with_o for_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o comely_a in_o the_o world_n then_o to_o see_v minister_n delight_v in_o their_o people_n company_n and_o people_n in_o they_o and_o thereupon_o to_o be_v much_o together_o yet_o it_o must_v be_v do_v as_o it_o may_v stand_v with_o the_o public_a there_o must_v be_v convenient_a time_n to_o preach_v that_o we_o may_v not_o come_v unprepared_o and_o if_o a_o minister_n preach_v also_o on_o the_o week_n day_n he_o can_v have_v much_o time_n for_o private_a especial_o in_o a_o great_a and_o wide_a parish_n not_o by_o constraint_n but_o willing_o people_n now_o for_o the_o manner_n a_o minister_n be_v not_o to_o perform_v the_o forementioned_a duty_n by_o constraint_n as_o for_o fear_n of_o god_n wrath_n man_n law_n or_o shame_n etc._n etc._n but_o willing_o to_o do_v by_o constraint_n be_v base_a and_o servile_a what_o any_o do_v thus_o they_o do_v but_o homely_a no_o better_a than_o needs_o must_v and_o beside_o what_o hope_v of_o god_n blessing_n can_v they_o expect_v upon_o such_o work_n 17._o god_n love_v a_o willing_a heart_n good_a or_o bad_a give_v he_o willing_o all_o the_o law_n give_v he_o if_o he_o do_v not_o his_o duty_n he_o shall_v answer_v for_o it_o be_v not_o you_o trespasser_n also_o stoppage_n be_v no_o payment_n but_o if_o he_o be_v a_o sufficient_a and_o painful_a minister_n your_o custom_n will_v not_o privilege_v you_o from_o pay_v he_o his_o due_n by_o god_n appointment_n you_o must_v give_v he_o his_o due_n to_o the_o utmost_a and_o he_o be_v worthy_a of_o it_o but_o o_o the_o woeful_a covetousness_n and_o corruption_n of_o man_n in_o this_o behalf_n they_o think_v any_o thing_n enough_o for_o a_o minister_n though_o it_o be_v but_o from_o hand_n to_o mouth_n whereas_o they_o look_v to_o increase_v themselves_o and_o think_v their_o trade_n bad_a and_o themselves_o ill_a husband_n if_o they_o leave_v not_o store_n to_o their_o posterity_n not_o of_o filthy_a lucre_n mind_n but_o of_o a_o ready_a mind_n it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o do_v our_o duty_n willing_o for_o so_o we_o may_v do_v for_o filthy_a lucre_n and_o gain_n but_o it_o must_v be_v of_o a_o ready_a mind_n even_o the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o zeal_n of_o his_o glory_n and_o the_o care_n of_o the_o people_n salvation_n and_o win_v they_o to_o god_n it_o be_v a_o base_a thing_n that_o lucre_n shall_v set_v we_o on_o work_n or_o any_o thing_n else_o but_o those_o high_a and_o holy_a end_n obj._n none_o will_v preach_v but_o for_o their_o maintenance_n obj._n they_o look_v for_o it_o sol._n suppose_v it_o to_o be_v so_o sol._n yet_o many_o preach_v and_o have_v not_o half_a the_o maintenance_n they_o spend_v where_o they_o live_v but_o either_o spend_v of_o that_o little_a god_n give_v they_o by_o their_o friend_n 8._o or_o else_o rob_v other_o church_n as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v to_o preach_v to_o they_o but_o it_o be_v one_o thing_n to_o be_v set_v on_o work_n for_o gain_v and_o another_o to_o expect_v a_o honest_a and_o necessary_a maintenance_n which_o be_v a_o necessary_a help_n to_o the_o do_v of_o the_o duty_n and_o without_o which_o it_o can_v be_v well_o do_v it_o come_v in_o i_o say_v by_o the_o by_o as_o a_o necessary_a help_n to_o the_o duty_n 10._o not_o as_o the_o end_n that_o set_v
go_v no_o further_o but_o god_n bid_v we_o use_v the_o mean_n and_o look_v for_o good_a success_n and_o cast_v ourselves_o on_o he_o i_o grant_v indeed_o if_o we_o shall_v look_v upon_o the_o world_n the_o devil_n ourselves_o we_o may_v fear_v as_o also_o consider_v that_o many_o great_a one_o have_v fall_v but_o its_o like_a either_o they_o trust_v to_o themselves_o or_o neglect_v the_o mean_n which_o if_o we_o do_v not_o god_n will_v keep_v we_o if_o we_o shall_v use_v the_o mean_n and_o yet_o torture_v ourselves_o with_o care_n how_o miserable_a be_v our_o life_n another_o say_v he_o affliction_n patient_o who_o god_n will_v enable_v to_o great_a if_o he_o shall_v call_v they_o thereto_o so_o some_o be_v afraid_a they_o shall_v die_v a_o rave_a death_n some_o that_o they_o shall_v be_v bedrid_a and_o lame_a some_o that_o if_o they_o shall_v have_v the_o stone_n or_o such_o a_o grievous_a torment_n they_o be_v never_o able_a to_o endure_v it_o etc._n etc._n it_o be_v good_a in_o be_v god_n part_n or_o when_o we_o use_v excessive_a care_n that_o make_v we_o sin_n by_o neglect_v some_o duty_n or_o commit_v some_o evil_n for_o success_n as_o when_o we_o have_v make_v a_o bargain_n and_o use_v the_o mean_n than_o we_o fall_v to_o take_v think_v for_o the_o success_n too_o but_o oh_o if_o it_o shall_v not_o prove_v well_o i_o shall_v be_v hinder_v or_o undo_v but_o we_o must_v use_v the_o mean_n and_o leave_v the_o success_n to_o god_n when_o we_o have_v use_v the_o outward_a mean_n and_o pray_v and_o so_o sanctify_v our_o labour_n than_o ought_v we_o to_o live_v by_o faith_n and_o be_v assure_v that_o we_o shall_v have_v that_o success_n that_o god_n shall_v see_v best_a if_o it_o shall_v fall_v out_o to_o my_o desire_n i_o shall_v desire_v to_o be_v faith_n rest_n quiet_o on_o god_n they_o do_v often_o neglect_v good_a or_o post_v it_o over_o and_o do_v evil_a with_o more_o care_n the_o root_n of_o this_o in_o the_o man_n of_o the_o world_n be_v want_n of_o faith_n for_o have_v they_o any_o persuasion_n of_o god_n love_n and_o care_n they_o will_v not_o be_v thus_o careful_a so_o also_o the_o want_n of_o prize_v seek_v and_o regard_v heaven_n and_o spiritual_a thing_n in_o god_n child_n the_o weakness_n of_o faith_n be_v the_o ground_n hereof_o as_o also_o their_o too_o little_a esteem_v of_o heaven_n and_o heavenly_a thing_n for_o if_o we_o be_v assure_v of_o god_n particular_a care_v for_o we_o and_o that_o heaven_n so_o excellent_a a_o place_n be_v we_o and_o do_v more_o high_o esteem_v of_o spiritual_a grace_n with_o the_o mean_n
