state_n thus_o god_n lose_v his_o sovereignty_n by_o the_o disobedience_n of_o his_o creature_n and_o his_o law_n signify_v so_o little_a that_o they_o be_v all_o repeal_v and_o disannul_v when_o man_n will_v observe_v they_o no_o long_o and_o who_o can_v once_o think_v that_o the_o great_a god_n shall_v lose_v his_o power_n to_o command_v when_o his_o creature_n refuse_v any_o more_o to_o obey_v he_o and_o that_o man_n by_o become_v a_o rebel_n shall_v cease_v to_o be_v a_o subject_a and_o that_o therefore_o a_o new_a law_n give_v new_a precept_n and_o propose_v other_o more_o offender_n though_o he_o can_v not_o read_v in_o it_o one_o syllable_n of_o a_o pardon_n yet_o the_o same_o law_n which_o require_v obedience_n of_o he_o command_v after_o he_o have_v sin_v to_o and_o condemn_v though_o indeed_o the_o criminal_a recall_v to_o mind_n the_o pardon_n once_o offer_v he_o and_o his_o own_o obstinate_a contempt_n of_o mercy_n will_n with_o great_a horror_n of_o same_o nature_n and_o king_n be_v both_o make_v to_o obedience_n it_o be_v but_o a_o poor_a shift_a evasion_n to_o say_v that_o there_o be_v a_o great_a difference_n because_o that_o the_o law_n require_v perfect_a unsinning_a obedience_n and_o the_o gospel_n insist_o only_o on_o low_a degree_n of_o duty_n for_o this_o will_v not_o so_o much_o as_o prove_v the_o obedience_n to_o be_v of_o different_a kind_n but_o only_o of_o great_a or_o lesser_a measure_n which_o as_o every_o one_o know_v do_v not_o alter_v the_o species_n but_o if_o it_o shall_v be_v grant_v that_o obedience_n to_o the_o law_n be_v of_o a_o various_a nature_n from_o that_o enjoin_v by_o the_o gospel_n yet_o the_o promise_v make_v to_o they_o both_o must_v be_v of_o the_o same_o kind_a for_o both_o of_o they_o be_v work_n since_o to_o obey_v a_o precept_n be_v to_o do_v a_o work_n or_o i_o know_v not_o what_o to_o make_v of_o it_o and_o all_o the_o difference_n than_o be_v that_o the_o promise_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n be_v make_v to_o obedience_n to_o the_o old_a law_n and_o the_o promise_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n of_o grace_n be_v make_v to_o obedience_n unto_o the_o new_a law_n both_o the_o savage_n in_o america_n to_o all_o the_o nation_n from_o peru_n to_o japan_n on_o condition_n they_o obey_v the_o command_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o believe_v and_o repent_v for_o if_o god_n this_o become_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n to_o act_v so_o preposterous_o how_o can_v we_o think_v that_o the_o depth_n of_o that_o knowledge_n as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v rom._n 11._o 33._o have_v such_o shallow_a design_n as_o to_o proclaim_v a_o pardon_n to_o all_o man_n on_o condition_n they_o believe_v and_o yet_o to_o make_v no_o provision_n that_o the_o least_o syllable_n of_o this_o gracious_a proclamation_n shall_v ever_o come_v to_o their_o ear_n it_o be_v also_o as_o repugnant_a to_o the_o wisdom_n and_o goodness_n of_o god_n to_o promise_v a_o pardon_n to_o all_o man_n on_o condition_n they_o believe_v when_o he_o know_v that_o the_o performance_n be_v impossible_a to_o they_o all_o by_o their_o mere_a natural_a power_n deprave_v as_o they_o be_v when_o he_o know_v also_o that_o without_o his_o all-conquering_a grace_n they_o can_v believe_v and_o repent_v to_o promise_v to_o they_o all_o life_n on_o condition_n they_o do_v so_o and_o at_o the_o same_o time_n to_o resolve_v to_o withhold_v this_o grace_n from_o the_o great_a part_n of_o mankind_n without_o which_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o they_o to_o do_v it_o what_o be_v this_o but_o to_o illude_v man_n for_o any_o one_o to_o offer_v food_n to_o a_o wretch_n who_o have_v not_o a_o limb_n whole_a starve_v in_o a_o dungeon_n on_o condition_n that_o he_o will_v come_v up_o and_o receive_v it_o and_o yet_o refuse_v to_o put_v forth_o a_o finger_n to_o give_v he_o the_o least_o lift_n what_o will_v this_o be_v but_o to_o mock_v he_o and_o to_o make_v a_o sport_n of_o his_o misery_n to_o
