because_o they_o will_v plead_v their_o excuse_n they_o fancy_v for_o not_o do_v their_o duty_n and_o be_v a_o defence_n to_o their_o lazyness_n worldly_a mindedness_n and_o other_o naughty_a affection_n in_o short_a doubt_n and_o scruple_n never_o arise_v in_o good_a man_n mind_n without_o grief_n nor_o stay_v there_o without_o much_o trouble_n and_o therefore_o they_o long_v to_o be_v the_o holy_a ghost_n the_o comforter_n to_o be_v a_o witness_n of_o his_o resurrection_n and_o exaltation_n at_o god_n right_a hand_n and_o to_o confirm_v we_o in_o the_o belief_n of_o all_o that_o book_n of_o ecclesiastical_a affair_n c._n 20._o say_v it_o seem_v to_o be_v very_o full_a of_o reason_n that_o christian_n especial_o clergyman_n shall_v every_o day_n be_v employ_v in_o divine_a in_o the_o church_n in_o after_o age_n look_v upon_o this_o as_o a_o ordinary_a part_n of_o christian_a worship_n which_o christ_n intend_v shall_v be_v perform_v in_o his_o church_n as_o oft_o as_o ourselves_o with_o word_n but_o understand_v the_o sense_n of_o thing_n and_o then_o we_o shall_v not_o be_v perplex_v as_o many_o have_v be_v in_o this_o business_n of_o preparation_n much_o less_o will_v any_o be_v affright_v from_o the_o holy_a communion_n by_o be_v command_v to_o kneel_v when_o they_o receive_v it_o which_o be_v no_o more_o than_o they_o do_v at_o their_o daily_a prayer_n and_o therefore_o shall_v the_o rather_o be_v incline_v to_o do_v here_o when_o we_o pray_v and_o give_v thanks_o for_o the_o great_a blessing_n which_o we_o can_v do_v in_o too_o humble_a a_o manner_n we_o worship_v also_o and_o adore_v our_o bless_a lord_n in_o this_o holy_a action_n and_o therefore_o one_o will_v think_v shall_v be_v dispose_v of_o ourselves_o without_o any_o injunction_n to_o fall_v down_o upon_o our_o knee_n in_o token_n of_o the_o worship_n which_o we_o give_v he_o which_o be_v no_o popish_a ceremony_n be_v not_o so_o much_o as_o enjoin_v by_o that_o church_n in_o the_o act_n of_o receive_v nor_o observe_v by_o the_o pope_n himself_o who_o when_o he_o receive_v rather_o sit_v or_o lean_v a_o little_a forward_a upon_o his_o throne_n but_o a_o ancient_a devout_a posture_n of_o the_o best_a christian_n which_o the_o people_n of_o the_o roman_a communion_n observe_v by_o long_a custom_n without_o bid_v and_o therefore_o shall_v much_o more_o the_o weakness_n and_o sickness_n of_o the_o soul_n they_o that_o ready_o entertain_v they_o and_o then_o suffer_v they_o to_o remain_v there_o quiet_o and_o peaceable_o be_v in_o a_o very_a ill_a sometime_o or_o other_o it_o may_v be_v think_v sufficient_a if_o we_o do_v it_o but_o once_o in_o our_o whole_a life_n and_o so_o dangerous_a be_v such_o conceit_n which_o man_n frame_v to_o themselves_o from_o such_o observation_n that_o vast_a number_n though_o otherwise_o not_o wicked_a live_v in_o a_o constant_a neglect_n of_o this_o duty_n till_o they_o come_v to_o die_v and_o then_o upon_o their_o deathbed_n call_v for_o this_o sacrament_n and_o receive_v it_o they_o think_v they_o have_v fulfil_v the_o will_n of_o our_o lord_n in_o do_v this_o as_o he_o have_v command_v because_o though_o he_o have_v command_v it_o to_o be_v do_v he_o have_v no_o where_o command_v when_o or_o how_o oft_o it_o shall_v be_v do_v from_o whence_o we_o may_v certain_o conclude_v that_o this_o be_v a_o false_a consequence_n which_o man_n draw_v from_o the_o silence_n of_o the_o holy_a scripture_n in_o this_o matter_n because_o it_o be_v so_o dangerous_a and_o pernicious_a that_o in_o a_o manner_n it_o quite_o destroy_v our_o religion_n by_o take_v away_o this_o part_n of_o it_o which_o be_v the_o principal_a and_o make_v it_o unnecessary_a as_o long_o as_o a_o man_n live_v so_o he_o be_v but_o sure_a to_o receive_v when_o he_o be_v at_o the_o point_n of_o death_n of_o that_o indeed_o no_o man_n can_v be_v assure_v but_o suppose_v he_o do_v receive_v the_o communion_n at_o the_o very_a last_o gasp_n he_o be_v thus_o far_o safe_a and_o not_o guilty_a of_o the_o breach_n of_o this_o commandment_n if_o this_o consequence_n be_v true_a that_o because_o our_o saviour_n have_v no_o where_o appoint_v the_o time_n or_o say_v how_o frequent_o we_o shall_v do_v this_o in_o remembrance_n of_o he_o we_o do_v comply_v with_o his_o institution_n provide_v we_o do_v it_o sometime_o or_o other_o now_o to_o destroy_v this_o false_a notion_n from_o whence_o such_o absurdity_n flow_v i_o shall_v in_o the_o first_o place_n show_v you_o that_o the_o quite_o contrary_a natural_o and_o necessary_o follow_v from_o this_o observation_n of_o our_o saviour_n appoint_v no_o time_n for_o the_o performance_n of_o that_o which_o he_o require_v to_o be_v do_v in_o remembrance_n of_o he_o from_o whence_o man_n wicked_a heart_n draw_v this_o conclusion_n as_o i_o have_v say_v that_o it_o may_v suffice_v to_o do_v this_o now_o and_o then_o though_o never_o so_o seldom_o i._o but_o the_o true_a the_o genuine_a and_o honest_a conclusion_n which_o follow_v from_o thence_o be_v this_o that_o our_o lord_n have_v name_v not_o fix_v settle_v time_n or_o time_n for_o the_o performance_n of_o this_o holy_a action_n it_o be_v a_o argument_n that_o he_o design_v and_o appoint_v it_o as_o a_o constant_a common_a and_o ordinary_a part_n of_o the_o christian_a service_n which_o he_o will_v have_v perform_v in_o his_o church_n at_o all_o time_n let_v those_o word_n of_o christ_n this_o do_v in_o remembrance_n of_o i_o be_v well_o weigh_v and_o there_o be_v among_o we_o which_o hinder_v he_o from_o communicate_v to_o address_v himself_o to_o his_o spiritual_a guide_n who_o god_n have_v set_v over_o he_o or_o to_o some_o other_o discreet_a and_o learned_a minister_n of_o god_n word_n and_o to_o lay_v open_a his_o whole_a mind_n before_o he_o that_o he_o may_v free_v he_o from_o his_o scruple_n unto_o this_o every_o man_n be_v bind_v because_o he_o be_v bind_v to_o communicate_v but_o can_v he_o say_v till_o these_o scruple_n be_v remove_v which_o therefore_o he_o ought_v to_o endeavour_v to_o have_v remove_v by_o this_o mean_n which_o be_v of_o god_n own_o prescription_n and_o be_v use_v upright_o with_o a_o sincere_a desire_n to_o be_v right_o inform_v and_o a_o humble_a willingness_n to_o learn_v and_o be_v continue_v with_o constancy_n from_o time_n to_o time_n and_o not_o present_o lay_v aside_o because_o the_o mind_n be_v not_o immediate_o convince_v will_n i_o doubt_v not_o by_o god_n blessing_n in_o the_o issue_n dispossess_v that_o man_n of_o his_o doubt_n and_o bring_v he_o to_o conformity_n who_o serious_o try_v it_o with_o patience_n ii_o as_o for_o the_o second_o head_n from_o whence_o objection_n be_v draw_v against_o the_o practice_n of_o this_o christian_a duty_n viz._n the_o company_n which_o partake_v at_o the_o table_n of_o the_o lord_n which_o some_o perhaps_o think_v unfit_a for_o they_o to_o communicate_v withal_o i_o shall_v answer_v to_o it_o a_o little_a more_o large_o i._o and_o first_o i_o take_v it_o to_o be_v undoubted_o certain_a that_o no_o man_n or_o woman_n who_o profess_v and_o understand_v christianity_n and_o do_v not_o contradict_v their_o profession_n by_o a_o profane_a and_o scandalous_a conversation_n can_v lawful_o be_v deny_v the_o holy_a communion_n when_o they_o present_v themselves_o to_o receive_v it_o for_o who_o be_v they_o for_o who_o christ_n prepare_v this_o table_n but_o his_o disciple_n and_o what_o other_o rule_n have_v we_o whereby_o to_o judge_v who_o be_v his_o disciple_n but_o only_o by_o man_n profess_v christianity_n and_o by_o their_o live_n for_o any_o thing_n that_o appear_v to_o the_o contrary_a suitable_a to_o this_o profession_n if_o such_o as_o these_o may_v not_o be_v admit_v to_o the_o holy_a communion_n and_o consequent_o we_o receive_v with_o such_o than_o none_o be_v to_o be_v admit_v but_o we_o must_v turn_v all_o people_n whatsoever_o from_o it_o and_o so_o break_v all_o christian_a communion_n for_o want_v of_o company_n to_o partake_v of_o this_o sacrament_n extinguish_v the_o ordinance_n itself_o which_o christ_n have_v most_o solemn_o appoint_v ii_o now_o this_o be_v settle_v as_o a_o wellgrounded_n truth_n it_o follow_v that_o no_o good_a christian_n can_v be_v forward_o to_o judge_v other_o to_o be_v unworthy_a to_o communicate_v but_o rather_o will_v be_v very_o scrupulous_a lest_o he_o offend_v in_o so_o judge_v for_o it_o be_v so_o much_o against_o the_o rule_n of_o christianity_n to_o pass_v such_o censure_n on_o other_o that_o they_o who_o be_v too_o forward_o to_o do_v it_o be_v as_o unworthy_a for_o any_o thing_n that_o i_o can_v see_v as_o any_o other_o person_n who_o they_o censure_v because_o they_o act_v contrary_a to_o the_o christian_a religion_n which_o make_v it_o a_o sin_n to_o be_v hasty_a in_o condemn_v our_o neighbour_n there_o be_v such_o great_a danger_n that_o we_o may_v be_v mistake_v for_o though_o a_o man_n have_v contradict_v his_o christian_a profession_n in_o some_o thing_n yet_o this_o be_v a_o truth_n wherein_o we_o all_o agree_v that_o whosoever_o be_v a_o true_a penitent_a and_o purpose_n to_o leave_v those_o sin_n whereby_o he_o have_v contradict_v it_o be_v by_o that_o repentance_n restore_v to_o friendship_n with_o god_n and_o therefore_o real_o worthy_a to_o receive_v the_o holy_a communion_n now_o whether_o a_o man_n who_o you_o judge_v unworthy_a have_v this_o serious_a settle_a purpose_n or_o no_o be_v very_o hard_a for_o you_o to_o know_v since_o you_o can_v see_v into_o any_o man_n heart_n nor_o know_v what_o be_v between_o god_n and_o he_o in_o secret_a but_o he_o come_v to_o the_o lord_n table_n you_o ought_v rather_o to_o judge_v that_o he_o do_v so_o purpose_n and_o resolve_v because_o he_o be_v invite_v thither_o upon_o those_o term_n and_o no_o other_o nay_o require_v to_o come_v so_o prepare_v or_o else_o not_o dare_v to_o approach_v unto_o it_o for_o so_o you_o find_v it_o in_o the_o exhortation_n that_o be_v read_v when_o the_o minister_n give_v warning_n for_o the_o celebration_n of_o the_o holy_a sacrament_n and_o so_o he_o speak_v again_o at_o the_o time_n of_o the_o celebration_n in_o those_o know_a word_n you_o that_o do_v true_o and_o earnest_o repent_v you_o of_o your_o sin_n and_o be_v in_o love_n and_o charity_n with_o your_o neighbour_n and_o intend_v to_o lead_v a_o new_a life_n follow_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n and_o walk_v from_o henceforth_o in_o his_o holy_a way_n draw_v near_o with_o faith_n and_o take_v this_o holy_a sacrament_n to_o your_o comfort_n iii_o and_o that_o lead_v to_o the_o next_o our_o church_n you_o see_v proceed_v according_a to_o the_o undoubted_a rule_n i_o name_v at_o first_o for_o its_o constitution_n do_v not_o admit_v but_o exclude_v all_o scandalous_a person_n from_o this_o holy_a sacrament_n and_o therefore_o you_o ought_v not_o to_o depart_v from_o its_o communion_n when_o any_o minister_n thereof_o do_v admit_v such_o evil_a liver_n to_o it_o because_o it_o be_v his_o personal_a fault_n who_o alone_o be_v to_o be_v charge_v with_o it_o and_o not_o any_o fault_n of_o the_o church_n which_o ought_v not_o to_o bear_v the_o blame_n nor_o upon_o this_o account_n to_o be_v forsake_v nay_o that_o minister_n himself_o perhaps_o may_v not_o be_v in_o fault_n have_v no_o knowledge_n of_o the_o scandal_n and_o therefore_o not_o to_o be_v blame_v and_o more_o than_o this_o he_o perhaps_o who_o complain_v of_o the_o scandal_n be_v the_o very_a man_n upon_o who_o this_o blame_n will_v light_v at_o last_o for_o if_o he_o know_v of_o any_o such_o notorious_a evil_a liver_n who_o be_v admit_v to_o the_o communion_n his_o duty_n be_v not_o thereupon_o to_o withdraw_v himself_o from_o it_o but_o to_o make_v proof_n of_o the_o scandal_n whereof_o such_o a_o man_n stand_v guilty_a
