and_o though_o we_o may_v so_o live_v that_o the_o best_a law_n of_o man_n can_v condemn_v we_o nor_o yet_o the_o best_a man_n just_o censure_v we_o yet_o however_o we_o may_v be_v liable_a to_o a_o from_o thing_n that_o be_v in_o themselves_o evil_a but_o that_o be_v of_o evil_a report_n such_o thing_n as_o these_o be_v frequent_v of_o tavern_n very_o gawdy_a and_o fantastic_a attire_n great_a merriment_n and_o jollity_n costly_a feast_n and_o entertainment_n spend_v beyond_o our_o income_n and_o revenue_n as_o well_o as_o above_o our_o rank_n spend_v great_a portion_n of_o our_o time_n in_o drollery_n and_o mirth_n set_v off_o our_o beauty_n with_o artifice_n and_o curiosity_n a_o extraordinary_a niceness_n in_o our_o dress_n and_o a_o great_a forwardness_n in_o follow_v the_o mode_n and_o fashion_n such_o thing_n as_o these_o be_v must_v come_v under_o our_o examination_n for_o it_o be_v very_o much_o to_o be_v fear_v that_o in_o they_o we_o do_v transgress_v and_o that_o our_o heart_n may_v go_v astray_o from_o god_n indeed_o we_o be_v by_o no_o mean_n to_o condemn_v one_o another_o we_o may_v not_o too_o hasty_o judge_v our_o brother_n in_o this_o case_n but_o yet_o it_o will_v well_o become_v we_o to_o examine_v our_o own_o heart_n and_o to_o be_v very_o jealous_a and_o suspicious_a of_o ourselves_o 3._o in_o make_v a_o judgement_n of_o ourselves_o we_o ought_v not_o only_o to_o consider_v what_o we_o be_v when_o we_o be_v dress_v up_o for_o the_o solemnity_n but_o what_o we_o be_v in_o our_o ordinary_a conversation_n there_o be_v few_o man_n so_o profane_a but_o they_o will_v put_v on_o a_o demure_a countenance_n and_o a_o fair_a outside_n when_o they_o be_v go_v to_o the_o table_n of_o the_o lord_n but_o we_o be_v not_o to_o measure_v ourselves_o by_o that_o but_o to_o consider_v what_o we_o be_v at_o other_o time_n the_o best_a way_n to_o judge_n of_o ourselves_o be_v to_o do_v it_o by_o what_o we_o be_v in_o our_o ordinary_a conversation_n there_o be_v a_o mechanical_a religion_n and_o that_o be_v when_o our_o devotion_n be_v raise_v by_o the_o ring_n of_o a_o bell_n the_o return_n of_o a_o solemnity_n or_o else_o the_o menace_n of_o death_n but_o when_o these_o thing_n be_v over_o we_o return_v to_o our_o old_a wont_v and_o be_v but_o what_o we_o be_v before_o when_o a_o sacrament_n draw_v nigh_o we_o look_v like_o saint_n we_o abstain_v from_o our_o grosser_n sin_n we_o put_v up_o some_o cold_a prayer_n to_o god_n we_o be_v for_o a_o day_n or_o two_o before_o very_o reserve_v and_o sober_a and_o we_o fast_v it_o may_v be_v upon_o the_o vesper_n of_o the_o festival_n and_o carry_v ourselves_o very_o reverent_o when_o we_o do_v communicate_v but_o yet_o all_o this_o while_n our_o heart_n be_v not_o change_v and_o our_o life_n be_v the_o same_o or_o worse_o than_o they_o be_v before_o and_o therefore_o we_o be_v not_o to_o judge_v of_o ourselves_o by_o such_o fit_n and_o pang_n of_o devotion_n but_o by_o the_o general_a course_n and_o tenor_n of_o our_o life_n be_v we_o to_o choose_v the_o picture_n of_o a_o friend_n or_o wife_n that_o i_o may_v use_v a_o simile_n of_o one_o of_o our_o divine_n upon_o to_o abandon_v all_o sacrament_n and_o when_o they_o be_v cut_v off_o by_o man_n censure_n for_o this_o their_o contempt_n they_o be_v content_a so_o to_o live_v and_o be_v no_o whit_n trouble_v a_o man_n know_v not_o whether_o the_o disease_n or_o remedy_n do_v worse_o with_o they_o i_o may_v compare_v they_o to_o cain_n save_v that_o i_o shall_v wrong_v he_o by_o so_o unjust_a a_o comparison_n communicate_v because_o he_o be_v not_o fit_a to_o do_v it_o and_o at_o another_o time_n pretend_v that_o he_o dare_v not_o do_v it_o because_o he_o look_v upon_o other_o man_n to_o be_v unfit_a to_o receive_v with_o he_o for_o by_o the_o first_o he_o will_v seem_v to_o insinuate_v that_o he_o have_v a_o very_a mean_a opinion_n of_o himself_o and_o by_o this_o that_o he_o think_v very_o well_o of_o himself_o how_o ill_o soever_o he_o judge_n of_o his_o brother_n have_v premise_v this_o i_o answer_v answ_n first_o that_o we_o ought_v to_o be_v very_o careful_a that_o we_o be_v not_o too_o censorious_a that_o we_o do_v not_o too_o bold_o take_v upon_o ourselves_o the_o office_n of_o a_o judge_n which_o belong_v not_o to_o we_o let_v we_o have_v a_o care_n that_o we_o be_v not_o too_o rash_a second_o suppose_v it_o as_o it_o be_v pretend_v yet_o be_v there_o no_o reason_n we_o shall_v suffer_v for_o another_o man_n fault_n will_v not_o you_o do_v your_o duty_n because_o another_o man_n neglect_v he_o you_o may_v not_o come_v unless_o you_o be_v fit_a and_o will_v you_o not_o come_v till_o your_o brother_n be_v fit_a too_o shall_v another_o man_n fault_n discharge_v you_o fit_v it_o shall_v be_v then_o in_o the_o power_n of_o another_o man_n to_o render_v you_o unfit_a the_o apostle_n say_v let_v a_o man_n examine_v himself_o and_o so_o let_v he_o eat_v but_o he_o no_o where_n put_v this_o in_o that_o we_o must_v examine_v other_o also_o you_o will_v have_v a_o hard_a task_n of_o it_o indeed_o if_o you_o may_v not_o proceed_v till_o you_o be_v satisfy_v in_o other_o man_n as_o well_o as_o in_o yourselves_o you_o be_v never_o like_a to_o communicate_v if_o this_o be_v a_o sufficient_a objection_n have_v a_o care_n you_o do_v not_o think_v christ_n have_v command_v you_o that_o which_o be_v unpracticable_a we_o know_v not_o when_o we_o may_v communicate_v if_o we_o may_v not_o do_v it_o till_o other_o be_v prepare_v as_o well_o as_o we_o it_o be_v very_o of_o christianity_n and_o the_o service_n of_o god_n and_o certain_o i_o may_v join_v in_o the_o profession_n of_o my_o religion_n with_o he_o who_o be_v no_o more_o than_o a_o bare_a professor_n this_o be_v not_o to_o join_v with_o he_o in_o his_o sin_n but_o indeed_o in_o do_v my_o duty_n to_o almighty_a god_n sin_n be_v not_o catch_v as_o infectious_a disease_n be_v by_o stand_v near_o as_o much_o as_o we_o can_v to_o avoid_v the_o evil_a doer_n we_o ought_v not_o to_o choose_v his_o company_n unless_o it_o be_v out_o of_o a_o design_n to_o
