a_o little_a wonder_n that_o i_o use_v so_o general_n and_o comprehensive_a term_n and_o that_o i_o say_v the_o obligation_n which_o lie_v on_o abraham_n from_o the_o covenant_n be_v to_o dedicate_v and_o give_v himself_o and_o all_o his_o to_o god_n and_o in_o token_n of_o it_o not_o only_a himself_o to_o wear_v the_o sign_n and_o token_n of_o the_o covenant_n which_o then_o be_v circumcision_n but_o to_o put_v it_o on_o all_o his_o that_o be_v capable_a of_o it_o i_o say_v happy_o you_o may_v not_o a_o little_a wonder_n why_o i_o say_v not_o all_o his_o seed_n but_o all_o his_o which_o if_o you_o do_v you_o will_v no_o long_o have_v no_o cause_n to_o continue_v it_o than_o till_o i_o tell_v you_o it_o be_v to_o signify_v that_o the_o obligation_n on_o abraham_n arise_v from_o the_o covenant_n be_v solemn_o to_o dedicate_v and_o give_v to_o god_n together_o with_o himself_o all_o that_o he_o have_v property_n in_o and_o title_n to_o and_o be_v owner_n of_o not_o his_o natural_a objection_n what_o you_o next_o offer_n in_o objection_n to_o my_o argument_n be_v that_o it_o follow_v not_o that_o because_o the_o substance_n of_o the_o covenant_n on_o god_n part_n be_v immutable_o and_o vnchangeable_o the_o same_o that_o therefore_o the_o duty_n and_o incumbence_n be_v also_o so_o on_o we_o for_o see_v god_n have_v absolute_a sovereignty_n in_o and_o over_o all_o his_o creature_n and_o have_v unlimited_a and_o boundless_a right_n as_o to_o command_v so_o to_o suspend_v and_o alter_v the_o instance_n and_o duty_n of_o their_o obedience_n both_o as_o and_o when_o he_o please_v that_o may_v be_v the_o duty_n of_o his_o people_n at_o one_o time_n you_o shall_v have_v add_v to_o make_v it_o pertinent_a by_o virtue_n of_o the_o same_o covenant_n and_o edict_n and_o in_o the_o same_o respect_n which_o be_v not_o so_o at_o another_o this_o you_o confirm_v because_o else_o you_o see_v not_o how_o it_o shall_v come_v to_o pass_v that_o for_o at_o least_o two_o thousand_o year_n before_o the_o time_n of_o abraham_n no_o such_o duty_n or_o incumbence_n do_v lie_v on_o the_o patriarch_n particular_o not_o on_o adam_n on_o abel_n on_o enoch_n on_o noah_n or_o on_o the_o other_o antediluvian_n father_n of_o who_o we_o do_v not_o read_v that_o any_o of_o they_o be_v sign_v or_o that_o they_o be_v oblige_v to_o any_o sign_n though_o you_o say_v it_o can_v be_v deny_v that_o they_o be_v in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o save_v by_o it_o as_o much_o as_o abraham_n himself_o or_o any_o of_o his._n so_o that_o here_o be_v a_o objection_n and_o a_o enforcement_n and_o confirmation_n of_o that_o objection_n as_o to_o the_o objection_n viz._n that_o it_o will_v not_o follow_v that_o because_o the_o substance_n of_o the_o covenant_n on_o god_n be_v part_n be_v immutable_o and_o everlasting_o the_o same_o therefore_o the_o duty_n and_o incumbence_n on_o we_o be_v also_o such_o i_o answer_v it_o will_v follow_v well_o enough_o if_o the_o duty_n and_o incumbence_n on_o our_o part_n be_v found_v on_o the_o substance_n of_o the_o covenant_n which_o be_v on_o god_n part_n as_o the_o duty_n and_o incumbence_n in_o dispute_n between_o we_o be_v it_o be_v i_o will_v establish_v my_o covenant_n between_o i_o and_o thou_o and_o thy_o seed_n after_o thou_o in_o their_o generation_n for_o a_o everlasting_a covenant_n to_o be_v a_o god_n to_o thou_o and_o to_o thy_o seed_n after_o thou_o etc._n etc._n and_o god_n say_v unto_o abraham_n thou_o shall_v keep_v my_o covenant_n therefore_o thou_o and_o thy_o seed_n after_o thou_o in_o result_n and_o emanation_n of_o the_o reason_n of_o it_o and_o consequent_o be_v uncapable_a of_o be_v change_v without_o a_o change_n of_o the_o covenant_n the_o unchangeable_a promise_n of_o god_n to_o abraham_n and_o to_o his_o seed_n be_v the_o foundation_n of_o the_o duty_n lie_v on_o abraham_n and_o on_o his_o seed_n and_o the_o same_o covenant_n as_o the_o same_o must_v always_o have_v the_o same_o effect_n and_o make_v the_o same_o duty_n ay_o but_o then_o how_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v that_o adam_n abel_n enoch_n and_o other_o the_o most_o ancient_a father_n who_o be_v under_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n as_o well_o as_o abraham_n and_o his_o descendant_n god_n be_v a_o god_n to_o they_o as_o well_o as_o to_o he_o do_v not_o keep_v the_o covenant_n in_o the_o sign_n thereof_o if_o the_o duty_n to_o keep_v the_o covenant_n in_o the_o sign_n thereof_o be_v everlasting_o the_o same_o and_o of_o a_o unchangeable_a nature_n this_o be_v your_o confirmation_n but_o to_o manifest_v the_o invalidity_n of_o all_o be_v say_v by_o way_n of_o confirmation_n i_o need_v but_o to_o demonstrate_v first_o that_o though_o all_o the_o father_n be_v save_v on_o the_o account_n eternal_a life_n and_o salvation_n from_o by_o and_o under_o adam_n abel_n enoch_n noah_n or_o any_o other_o covenant_v person_n or_o person_n before_o abraham_n if_o there_o be_v any_o such_o but_o only_o from_o by_z and_o under_o abraham_n nor_o by_o virtue_n of_o any_o other_o covenant_n whatever_o make_v with_o all_o or_o any_o of_o they_o but_o only_o by_o virtue_n of_o abraham_n it_o be_v certain_a that_o the_o term_n which_o it_o please_v god_n to_o go_v upon_o with_o they_o in_o any_o transaction_n he_o have_v with_o they_o be_v they_o what_o they_o will_v be_v in_o account_n of_o scripture_n as_o little_a to_o we_o as_o those_o he_o go_v upon_o with_o abraham_n be_v much_o and_o three_o that_o the_o obligation_n to_o keep_v the_o covenant_n gen._n 17._o in_o the_o sign_n thereof_o though_o it_o be_v not_o and_o indeed_o can_v not_o be_v observe_v by_o all_o or_o any_o of_o the_o ancient_n before_o abraham_n yet_o notwithstanding_o that_o it_o be_v in_o a_o scriptural_a sense_n and_o consequent_o proper_o enough_o call_v a_o duty_n and_o obligation_n of_o immutable_a and_o unchangeable_a nature_n and_o everlasting_o the_o same_o the_o first_o proposition_n viz._n that_o though_o all_o that_o ever_o be_v save_v be_v save_v by_o virtue_n of_o the_o atonement_n and_o propitiation_n make_v by_o the_o bless_a jesus_n he_o be_v in_o the_o efficacy_n and_o virtue_n of_o his_o merit_n and_o passion_n the_o lamb_n slay_v even_o from_o the_o foundation_n of_o the_o world_n yet_o that_o at_o least_o in_o the_o account_n of_o holy_a scripture_n it_o do_v not_o please_v god_n to_o transact_v with_o all_o or_o any_o of_o the_o ancient_a either_o the_o antediluvian_n or_o postdiluvian_n father_n in_o way_n of_o covenant_n for_o grace_n eternal_a life_n and_o salvation_n before_o abraham_n be_v a_o manifest_a verity_n for_o though_o all_o the_o father_n that_o be_v save_v be_v so_o by_o some_o degree_n and_o kind_n of_o faith_n and_o be_v so_o by_o jesus_n christ_n and_o through_o the_o eternal_a covenant_n as_o divine_n call_v it_o of_o redemption_n
