act_n be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o all_o commission_n officer_n in_o their_o several_a precinct_n within_o this_o colony_n be_v hereby_o require_v and_o empower_v upon_o his_o or_o their_o knowledge_n or_o notice_n give_v that_o any_o privateer_n pirate_n or_o other_o person_n suspect_v to_o be_v upon_o any_o unlawful_a design_n be_v in_o any_o place_n within_o their_o respective_a precinct_n to_o raise_v and_o levy_v such_o a_o number_n of_o well_o arm_a man_n power_n their_o power_n as_o he_o or_o they_o shall_v think_v needful_a for_o through_o a_o over-respect_n to_o their_o own_o occasion_n and_o business_n or_o not_o due_o consider_v the_o good_a of_o their_o child_n and_o servant_n have_v too_o much_o neglect_v their_o duty_n in_o their_o education_n while_o they_o be_v young_a and_o capable_a of_o learning_n record_n select_a man_n care_n that_o all_o child_n and_o servant_n be_v bring_v to_o record_n it_o be_v order_v that_o the_o select_a man_n of_o every_o town_n shall_v have_v a_o vigilant_a eye_n from_o time_n to_o time_n over_o their_o brethren_n and_o neighbour_n to_o see_v that_o all_o parent_n and_o master_n do_v due_o endeavour_v by_o themselves_o or_o other_o to_o teach_v their_o child_n and_o servant_n as_o they_o grow_v capable_a so_o much_o learn_v as_o through_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n they_o may_v attain_v at_o least_o to_o be_v able_a due_o to_o read_v the_o scripture_n and_o other_o profitable_a book_n print_v in_o the_o english_a tongue_n and_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o capital_a law_n and_o in_o some_o competent_a measure_n the_o main_a ground_n and_o principle_n of_o christian_a religion_n catichise_v and_o catichise_v necessary_a to_o salvation_n by_o cause_v they_o to_o learn_v some_o orthodox_n catechism_n without_o book_n or_o otherways_o instruct_v they_o as_o they_o may_v be_v able_a to_o give_v a_o due_a answer_n to_o such_o plain_a and_o ordinary_a question_n as_o may_v by_o they_o or_o other_o be_v propound_v to_o they_o concern_v the_o same_o and_o further_o that_o all_o parent_n and_o master_n do_v breed_v and_o bring_v up_o their_o child_n and_o apprentice_n in_o some_o honest_a lawful_a call_v and_o employment_n that_o may_v be_v profitable_a for_o themselves_o and_o the_o country_n and_o if_o after_o warn_v and_o admonition_n give_v by_o any_o of_o the_o select_a man_n unto_o such_o parent_n or_o master_n they_o shall_v still_o remain_v negligent_a in_o their_o duty_n in_o any_o of_o the_o particular_n aforemention_v whereby_o child_n or_o servant_n may_v be_v in_o danger_n to_o grow_v barbarous_a rude_a and_o stubborn_a and_o so_o prove_v pest_n in_o stead_n of_o blessing_n to_o the_o country_n that_o then_o a_o fine_a of_o ten_o shilling_n shall_v be_v levy_v on_o the_o good_n of_o such_o negligent_a
parent_n or_o master_n to_o the_o town_n use_v may_v or_o put_v out_o where_o they_o may_v except_o extreme_a poverty_n call_v for_o a_o mitigation_n of_o the_o fine_a and_o if_o in_o three_o month_n after_o that_o there_o be_v no_o due_a care_n take_v and_o continue_v for_o the_o education_n of_o such_o child_n and_o apprentice_n as_o aforesaid_a than_o a_o fine_a of_o twenty_o shilling_n to_o be_v levy_v on_o such_o delinquent_n to_o the_o town_n use_v except_o as_o aforesaid_a and_o last_o if_o in_o three_o month_n after_o that_o their_z be_v no_o reformation_n of_o the_o say_v neglect_v than_o the_o select_a man_n with_o the_o advice_n of_o two_o magistrate_n shall_v put_v such_o child_n to_o apprentice_n boy_n till_o they_o come_v to_o twenty_o one_o and_o girl_n eighteen_o year_n of_o age_n where_o they_o may_v be_v educate_v according_a to_o the_o rule_n of_o this_o order_n cooper_n &_o cask_n 1._o it_o be_v order_v by_o this_o court_n and_o the_o authority_n thereof_o that_o all_o barrel_n that_o shall_v be_v make_v in_o this_o government_n for_o pork_n beef_n and_o oil_n 〈◊〉_d gage_n of_o 〈◊〉_d beer_n ale_n cider_n shall_v be_v one_o and_o thirty_o gallon_n and_o a_o half_a and_o that_o all_o such_o cask_n be_v make_v of_o sound_n and_o well_o season_v timber_n brand_n and_o brand_n and_o that_o every_o cooper_n brand-mark_a his_o cask_n with_o a_o distinguish_a brand-mark_a on_o the_o penalty_n of_o the_o forfeiture_n of_o all_o cask_n that_o be_v not_o so_o make_v and_o mark_v the_o one_o half_a to_o the_o informer_n the_o other_o half_o to_o the_o county_n county_n clerk_n trial_n clerk_n &_o recorder_n to_o issue_n forth_o warrant_v for_o the_o town_n to_o their_o juror_n to_o serve_v on_o the_o grand_a inquest_n and_o for_o trial_n 2._o it_o be_v enact_v by_o this_o court_n and_o the_o authority_n thereof_o that_o the_o clerk_n of_o the_o court_n of_o assistant_n and_o clerk_n of_o the_o county_n court_v shall_v in_o convenient_a time_n before_o the_o fit_v of_o each_o court_n send_v warrant_n sign_v as_o clerk_n or_o recorder_n of_o such_o court_n to_o the_o constable_n of_o the_o respective_a town_n for_o juror_n to_o serve_v upon_o the_o grand_a inquest_n and_o for_o trial_n the_o recorder_n of_o the_o court_n of_o assistant_n to_o plymouth_n and_o the_o neighbour_n town_n and_o the_o clerk_n of_o the_o county_n court_v to_o the_o several_a town_n of_o the_o county_n who_o shall_v upon_o the_o receipt_n of_o such_o warrant_n give_v timely_a notice_n to_o the_o town_n to_o meet_v together_o to_o choose_v so_o many_o able_a discreet_a man_n as_o the_o warrant_n shall_v require_v which_o man_n so_o choose_v shall_v by_o the_o constable_n be_v warn_v to_o attend_v the_o respective_a court_n they_o be_v choose_v to_o serve_v at_o and_o shall_v make_v timely_a return_n of_o the_o name_n of_o the_o juror_n so_o choose_v to_o the_o respective_a court_n indorsed_n on_o the_o say_a warrant_n the_o grand_a jury_n shall_v serve_v for_o a_o year_n and_o the_o jury_n of_o trial_n only_o at_o the_o court_n summon_v to_o serve_v at_o constable_n court_n the_o town_n to_o choose_v their_o constable_n and_o town-clerk_n to_o return_v their_o name_n to_o court_n 1._o it_o be_v enact_v that_o every_o town_n in_o this_o colony_n under_o the_o penalty_n of_o five_o pound_n to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o county_n in_o which_o such_o town_n lie_v shall_v annual_o choose_v one_o or_o two_o meet_a man_n to_o serve_v in_o the_o office_n of_o constable_n and_o such_o person_n so_o choose_v shall_v be_v return_v by_o the_o town_n clerk_n to_o the_o first_o county_n court_n which_o shall_v be_v hold_v in_o each_o county_n next_o after_o the_o court_n of_o election_n annual_o who_o be_v warn_v by_o to_o a_o magistrate_n to_o be_v swear_v he_o shall_v pay_v a_o fine_a of_o five_o pound_n to_o the_o town_n to_o be_v levy_v by_o a_o warrant_n from_o a_o magistrate_n on_o such_o delinquent_n estate_n oath_n penalty_n of_o constable_n non-appearance_n to_o take_v oath_n and_o deliver_v to_o one_o of_o the_o select_a man_n for_o the_o town_n use_v and_o such_o town_n shall_v forthwith_o the_o same_o office_n in_o this_o colony_n in_o seven_o year_n after_o 3._o that_o if_o any_o constable_n within_o this_o colony_n have_v occasion_n to_o go_v out_o of_o the_o township_n wherein_o he_o be_v constable_n for_o some_o time_n he_o shall_v depute_v some_o meet_a person_n in_o his_o room_n or_o in_o case_n he_o be_v any_o way_n disable_v to_o perform_v his_o office_n deputy_n
