there_o be_v both_o in_o the_o root_n and_o in_o the_o rule_n and_o in_o the_o scope_n which_o they_o aim_v at_o and_o so_o it_o will_v appear_v to_o be_v at_o the_o last_o day_n math._n 25.23_o experience_n make_v good_a wherein_o then_o lie_v the_o difference_n do_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n leave_v the_o heart_n of_o a_o hypocrite_n stony_a and_o unmelted_a it_o be_v so_o indeed_o with_o the_o stony_a but_o not_o with_o the_o thorny_a soil_n for_o the_o heart_n of_o some_o hypocrite_n be_v melt_v as_o iron_n stone_n they_o may_v come_v to_o melt_v about_o their_o own_o estate_n through_o fear_n and_o so_o all_o those_o melt_v that_o want_n not_o depth_n of_o earth_n as_o the_o thorny_a soil_n do_v not_o but_o mind_v you_o they_o will_v grow_v hard_o again_o as_o iron_n or_o lead_n will_v do_v after_o it_o be_v melt_v now_o look_v at_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n when_o he_o come_v to_o work_v effectual_o and_o he_o do_v not_o only_o melt_v the_o heart_n but_o take_v away_o the_o heart_n of_o stone_n and_o give_v a_o heart_n of_o flesh_n for_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o break_v a_o stone_n it_o will_v be_v a_o stone_n though_o it_o be_v break_v but_o when_o the_o lord_n change_v it_o into_o flesh_n than_o it_o will_v be_v hard_a no_o more_o but_o though_o a_o man_n may_v have_v many_o temptation_n yet_o the_o lord_n will_v keep_v his_o heart_n soft_a for_o ever_o and_o this_o be_v that_o which_o i_o do_v believe_v touch_v the_o witness_n of_o sanctification_n unto_o justification_n you_o see_v what_o work_v of_o god_n be_v find_v in_o hypocrite_n and_o therefore_o what_o dangerous_a deceit_n we_o be_v subject_a unto_o if_o god_n be_v not_o more_o merciful_a again_o you_o see_v what_o state_n christian_n be_v bring_v unto_o when_o their_o conversion_n and_o faith_n be_v wrought_v in_o they_o and_o how_o it_o be_v not_o ground_v upon_o the_o sight_n of_o their_o

strengthen_v the_o faith_n of_o his_o people_n to_o believe_v that_o all_o those_o thing_n which_o god_n have_v promise_v be_v accomplish_v in_o jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o law_n fullfil_v in_o i_o so_o far_o as_o christ_n be_v in_o i_o and_o therefore_o i_o come_v unto_o god_n in_o prayer_n to_o make_v good_a those_o promise_n unto_o i_o in_o a_o right_a way_n which_o will_v have_v be_v preposterous_o apply_v before_o christ_n be_v give_v and_o this_o may_v serve_v for_o answer_n to_o the_o 5_o question_n quest_n 6._o we_o come_v now_o unto_o a_o sixth_o question_n if_o the_o lord_n do_v give_v himself_o first_o in_o the_o covenant_n of_o his_o grace_n this_o may_v then_o be_v a_o doubt_n and_o a_o question_n in_o a_o christian_a soul_n if_o god_n give_v himself_o before_o any_o blessing_n before_o any_o promise_n in_o order_n of_o nature_n though_o he_o give_v himself_o always_o in_o a_o promise_n if_o we_o can_v claim_v any_o blessing_n from_o god_n at_o the_o first_o in_o any_o conditional_a promise_n therefore_o not_o by_o any_o condition_n in_o ourselves_o but_o as_o we_o receive_v all_o thing_n from_o god_n so_o we_o claim_v all_o thing_n from_o he_o in_o jesus_n christ_n and_o so_o do_v first_o seek_v for_o he_o and_o for_o all_o thing_n in_o he_o if_o thus_o to_o what_o use_n then_o serve_v the_o law_n of_o god_n which_o require_v such_o and_o such_o condition_n in_o we_o do_v we_o not_o abrogate_v the_o law_n &_o make_v it_o of_o none_o effect_n and_o root_v it_o out_o from_o have_v any_o power_n over_o christian_n and_o true_o some_o under_o pretence_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n have_v think_v it_o altogether_o bootless_a to_o bind_v christian_n unto_o the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o to_o look_v at_o it_o as_o any_o part_n of_o the_o direction_n of_o their_o course_n now_o because_o this_o be_v a_o imputation_n usual_o reflect_v upon_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n let_v we_o confider_v therefore_o and_o inquire_v to_o what_o use_n serve_v the_o law_n of_o god_n if_o god_n give_v himself_o first_o unto_o his_o people_n in_o the_o covenant_n of_o his_o grace_n answ_n though_o the_o lord_n give_v himself_o free_o to_o the_o soul_n and_o his_o son_n and_o all_o the_o blessing_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n without_o respect_n unto_o any_o work_n of_o the_o law_n yet_o the_o law_n be_v of_o special_a and_o notable_a use_n unto_o all_o the_o son_n of_o man_n both_o unto_o they_o that_o be_v not_o yet_o bring_v home_o unto_o god_n by_o convert_v grace_n and_o also_o to_o those_o that_o be_v regenerate_v in_o jesus_n christ_n the_o apostle_n paul_n do_v observe_v that_o the_o question_n will_v arise_v upon_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n gal._n 3.16,17,18_o for_o if_o the_o blessing_n of_o abraham_n come_v upon_o the_o people_n of_o god_n by_o jesus_n christ_n to_o what_o end_n then_o serve_v the_o law_n which_o come_v 430_o year_n after_o it_o can_v disannul_v grace_n to_o make_v the_o promise_n of_o god_n of_o none_o effect_v to_o what_o end_n then_o serve_v it_o some_o say_v it_o be_v of_o no_o use_n other_o say_v that_o it_o be_v of_o such_o use_n that_o they_o have_v beautiful_a and_o glad_a tiding_n and_o of_o this_o use_n be_v the_o law_n unto_o the_o elect_a of_o god_n before_o they_o come_v under_o the_o covenant_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n 2._o but_o of_o
