suppose_v nothing_o to_o be_v determine_v by_o god_n and_o indeed_o this_o be_v the_o basis_n that_o the_o peace_n of_o the_o popish_a church_n stand_v upon_o and_o i_o believe_v no_o jesuit_n will_v 12._o 2._o if_o this_o assertion_n thus_o explain_v be_v true_a there_o shall_v remain_v no_o more_o controversy_n among_o serious_a and_o learned_a man_n about_o any_o of_o the_o law_n of_o christ_n for_o such_o have_v their_o sense_n exercise_v in_o these_o thing_n wherefore_o they_o may_v if_o we_o believe_v this_o author_n know_v such_o to_o be_v christ_n law_n and_o therefore_o can_v be_v in_o a_o error_n about_o they_o but_o how_o absurd_a this_o be_v sad_a experience_n make_v too_o evident_a be_v it_o not_o a_o controversy_n whether_o christ_n have_v appoint_v seven_o or_o but_o two_o sacrament_v whether_o he_o have_v command_v we_o to_o pray_v to_o saint_n depart_v whether_o excommunication_n be_v by_o his_o law_n etc._n etc._n we_o must_v then_o either_o say_v that_o christ_n have_v make_v no_o law_n in_o these_o thing_n or_o that_o man_n can_v mistake_v in_o they_o but_o that_o they_o who_o oppose_v the_o truth_n herein_o do_v oppose_v that_o which_o they_o know_v to_o be_v christ_n law_n or_o that_o christ_n have_v make_v and_o reveal_v a_o law_n about_o these_o thing_n but_o these_o man_n can_v see_v it_o which_o be_v contrary_a to_o the_o author_n assertion_n 3._o be_v it_o not_o enough_o to_o bind_v the_o conscience_n of_o any_o who_o sober_o seek_v to_o know_v what_o be_v the_o good_a and_o perfect_a and_o acceptable_a will_n of_o god_n that_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o word_n have_v give_v some_o intimation_n from_o which_o we_o may_v gather_v that_o such_o a_o thing_n be_v his_o will_n sure_a see_v it_o be_v his_o will_n that_o bind_v promise_n now_o if_o this_o clearness_n of_o term_n in_o the_o revelation_n of_o the_o credenda_fw-la of_o religion_n be_v not_o necessary_a to_o bind_v the_o conscience_n to_o believe_v how_o be_v it_o imaginable_a that_o it_o shall_v be_v necessary_a in_o the_o revelation_n of_o the_o agenda_fw-la to_o bind_v the_o will_n to_o act_v see_v the_o lord_n do_v as_o peremptory_o require_v we_o to_o and_o it_o admit_v of_o the_o same_o answer_n §_o 8._o have_v make_v the_o magistrate_n the_o sole_a judge_n and_o determiner_n in_o the_o matter_n of_o the_o church_n even_o ceremony_n themselves_o our_o author_n proceed_v p._n 49._o to_o examine_v the_o extent_n of_o his_o power_n assert_v in_o his_o former_a hypothesis_n and_o here_o he_o proceed_v by_o three_o step_n 1._o that_o there_o be_v some_o thing_n leave_v undetermined_a by_o the_o word_n this_o we_o assent_n to_o as_o it_o be_v here_o set_v down_o but_o can_v understand_v it_o as_o he_o do_v which_o appear_v a_o little_a after_o of_o ceremony_n but_o rather_o of_o bare_a circumstance_n of_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n if_o he_o take_v these_o for_o one_o he_o be_v very_o ignorant_a of_o the_o nature_n of_o both_o neither_o of_o the_o species_n of_o church-government_n for_o which_o this_o indifferency_n of_o thing_n be_v here_o assert_v what_o he_o discourse_v here_o of_o the_o nature_n of_o indifferency_n i_o shall_v not_o insist_v upon_o intend_v to_o meet_v with_o it_o elsewhere_o only_o i_o take_v notice_n of_o his_o concession_n p_o 53._o that_o in_o thing_n whole_o indifferent_a both_o in_o respect_n of_o their_o common_a nature_n and_o their_o use_n and_o end_n that_o be_v neither_o command_v nor_o tend_v to_o the_o peace_n and_o order_n of_o the_o church_n there_o can_v be_v no_o reason_n why_o the_o nature_n of_o these_o thing_n shall_v be_v alter_v by_o humane_a law_n wherefore_o matter_n that_o be_v indifferent_a as_o to_o a_o command_n but_o be_v much_o conduce_v to_o the_o peace_n and_o order_n of_o the_o church_n be_v the_o proper_a matter_n of_o humane_a constitution_n concern_v the_o church_n policy_n let_v it_o be_v here_o consider_v that_o these_o thing_n be_v not_o proper_o indifferent_a but_o command_v viz._n where_o the_o peace_n and_o order_n of_o the_o church_n be_v enjoin_v and_o if_o it_o be_v so_o it_o be_v the_o part_n of_o the_o church_n representative_a not_o of_o the_o magistrate_n to_o judge_v what_o thing_n be_v thus_o conducible_a to_o peace_n and_o order_n and_o to_o hold_v forth_o the_o do_v of_o these_o as_o the_o law_n of_o christ._n §_o 9_o his_o second_o step_n be_v that_o matter_n of_o this_o nature_n may_v be_v determine_v and_o restrain_v and_o that_o it_o be_v not_o to_o the_o wrong_v of_o christian_n liberty_n so_o to_o do_v and_o this_o he_o do_v very_o large_o prove_v against_o some_o as_o he_o pretend_v of_o great_a note_n and_o learning_n i_o wonder_v who_o they_o be_v for_o i_o never_o meet_v with_o any_o who_o do_v deny_v what_o he_o assert_v it_o be_v true_a that_o many_o do_v and_o that_o warrantable_o maintain_v that_o where_o christ_n have_v leave_v we_o free_a man_n have_v no_o power_n by_o his_o mere_a will_n to_o restrain_v we_o especial_o in_o thing_n that_o belong_v to_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n but_o all_o do_v acknowledge_v so_o far_o as_o i_o know_v that_o in_o thing_n though_o not_o express_o command_v which_o by_o their_o nature_n or_o circumstance_n be_v make_v conducible_a to_o the_o end_n that_o christ_n have_v enjoin_v we_o to_o endeavour_v the_o church_n may_v enjoin_v we_o and_o that_o without_o make_v any_o new_a law_n but_o by_o declare_v the_o will_n of_o god_n this_o and_o no_o more_o do_v all_o the_o argument_n which_o the_o author_n with_o much_o pain_n have_v set_v down_o conclude_v and_o indeed_o if_o our_o author_n have_v once_o prove_v the_o species_n of_o church_n government_n to_o be_v indifferent_a we_o shall_v not_o deny_v it_o to_o be_v determinable_a and_o imposeable_a not_o by_o the_o magistrate_n but_o by_o the_o church_n in_o the_o prosecution_n of_o his_o argument_n there_o occur_v several_a thing_n that_o i_o can_v assent_v to_o but_o they_o not_o be_v to_o the_o question_n in_o hand_n and_o intend_v to_o touch_v some_o of_o they_o in_o a_o treatise_n elsewhere_o i_o pass_v they_o here_o he_o have_v some_o greedy_a hint_n after_o obey_v whatever_o be_v command_v though_o unlawful_a the_o non-obligation_n of_o the_o covenant_n etc._n etc._n which_o do_v discover_v his_o spirit_n though_o the_o author_n do_v state_n the_o question_n as_o have_v be_v say_v yet_o all_o his_o reason_n whereby_o from_o p._n 56._o he_o prove_v the_o determination_n of_o indifferent_a thing_n not_o to_o take_v away_o our_o liberty_n do_v prove_v as_o much_o that_o determination_n ground_v on_o man_n mere_a will_n do_v not_o take_v it_o away_o for_o in_o that_o case_n there_o may_v be_v leave_v a_o liberty_n of_o judgement_n and_o there_o may_v
