be_v in_o authority_n the_o text_n therefore_o give_v we_o clear_a direction_n in_o three_o momentous_a point_n 1._o the_o matter_n of_o our_o duty_n or_o what_o we_o owe._n 2._o the_o object_n of_o the_o duty_n or_o to_o who_o we_o owe_v it_o 3._o the_o reason_n of_o our_o duty_n why_o we_o owe_v it_o 1._o if_o we_o heedful_o attend_v to_o the_o first_o of_o these_o or_o what_o we_o owe_v the_o text_n have_v reduce_v they_o to_o these_o four_o particular_n 1._o that_o we_o offer_v up_o to_o god_n supplication_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d earnest_o to_o wrestle_v with_o the_o almighty_a that_o he_o will_v divert_v his_o anger_n or_o whatever_o calamity_n judgement_n plague_n may_v be_v in_o the_o womb_n of_o that_o anger_n from_o they_o that_o his_o vigilant_a eye_n will_v discover_v his_o powerful_a hand_n turn_v away_o and_o defeat_v all_o those_o machination_n which_o may_v be_v form_v against_o their_o person_n and_o government_n in_o a_o word_n that_o he_o will_v secure_v qualify_v they_o for_o their_o arduous_a call_n that_o he_o will_v prosper_v and_o crown_v they_o with_o glorious_a success_n in_o all_o their_o lawful_a and_o honourable_a undertake_n 3._o that_o further_o we_o make_v intercession_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d for_o they_o that_o god_n will_v not_o only_o bless_v they_o but_o make_v they_o blessing_n to_o their_o subject_n and_o happy_a instrument_n to_o procure_v much_o good_a to_o all_o that_o come_v within_o the_o sphere_n of_o their_o power_n and_o calling_n 4._o we_o owe_v this_o further_a that_o we_o return_v thanks_o 〈◊〉_d wrought_v out_o for_o we_o by_o they_o and_o for_o all_o that_o courage_n and_o conduct_n which_o god_n have_v bestow_v on_o they_o to_o render_v they_o serviceable_a and_o for_o all_o that_o god_n perseverance_n the_o nature_n of_o the_o word_n imply_v the_o former_a and_o the_o form_n of_o the_o word_n the_o latter_a 2._o the_o object_n of_o our_o duty_n be_v express_v in_o these_o word_n for_o all_o man_n for_o king_n and_o all_o that_o be_v in_o authority_n only_o be_v it_o observe_v that_o though_o we_o owe_v to_o our_o king_n prayer_n and_o praise_n yet_o these_o duty_n these_o debt_n must_v be_v pay_v to_o god_n and_o we_o shall_v acquit_v ourselves_o both_o as_o christian_n and_o good_a subject_n when_o what_o we_o owe_v for_o they_o we_o do_v not_o pay_v it_o to_o they_o but_o to_o god_n on_o their_o behalf_n the_o person_n to_o who_o we_o owe_v supplication_n prayer_n intercession_n and_o thanksgiving_n be_v here_o either_o describe_v in_o general_a or_o in_o special_a 1._o in_o general_n we_o owe_v it_o to_o all_o man_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d none_o so_o low_a but_o our_o prayer_n may_v help_v they_o none_o so_o high_a but_o our_o prayer_n may_v serve_v they_o none_o so_o good_a but_o may_v need_v none_o so_o bad_a but_o may_v claim_v a_o share_n in_o our_o prayer_n we_o be_v indeed_o teach_v to_o distinguish_v between_o the_o violent_a man_n of_o the_o world_n as_o they_o be_v our_o enemy_n and_o as_o they_o be_v the_o enemy_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o of_o his_o christ_n under_o the_o former_a consideration_n let_v we_o pray_v that_o god_n will_v forgive_v they_o convert_v they_o restrain_v they_o wherein_o if_o our_o charitable_a prayer_n reach_v not_o their_o heart_n they_o will_v return_v into_o our_o own_o bosom_n and_o for_o this_o we_o have_v precept_n from_o and_o precedent_n in_o our_o lord_n and_o saviour_n precept_n mat_n 5._o 44._o love_v your_o enemy_n bless_v they_o that_o curse_v you_o do_v good_a to_o they_o that_o hate_v you_o pray_v for_o they_o that_o despiteful_o use_v you_o and_o persecute_v you_o precedent_n luke_n 23._o 34._o father_n forgive_v they_o for_o they_o know_v not_o what_o they_o do_v but_o as_o they_o fall_v under_o the_o other_o dismal_a character_n our_o prayer_n ought_v to_o be_v of_o another_o temper_n that_o god_n will_v convert_v they_o there_o we_o will_v begin_v but_o if_o
