their_o endeavour_n to_o amend_v their_o imperfection_n and_o if_o still_o they_o come_v short_a and_o fail_v of_o their_o desire_n yet_o they_o may_v comfort_v themselves_o with_o this_o thought_n that_o all_o be_v not_o quite_o lose_v but_o somewhat_o stick_v in_o the_o mind_n which_o though_o it_o appear_v not_o at_o the_o present_a yet_o may_v do_v they_o good_a for_o afterward_o as_o the_o vessel_n into_o which_o the_o water_n be_v pour_v be_v clean_a &_o moist_a then_o that_o which_o stand_v dry_a without_o any_o water_n pour_v into_o it_o at_o all_o the_o conclusion_n of_o this_o point_n be_v let_v man_n do_v their_o hearty_a endeavour_n and_o not_o frame_v excuse_n of_o weakness_n when_o it_o be_v their_o own_o idleness_n and_o want_n of_o affection_n to_o the_o work_n and_o then_o i_o dare_v say_v that_o no_o man_n or_o woman_n memory_n be_v so_o bad_a but_o though_o they_o can_v make_v any_o orderly_a repetition_n of_o their_o hear_n yet_o somewhat_o be_v lay_v up_o in_o they_o which_o when_o occasion_n be_v offer_v will_v show_v itself_o and_o may_v direct_v they_o by_o a_o holy_a life_n to_o eternal_a glory_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o second_o benefit_n of_o a_o sermon_n do_v usual_o more_o carry_v away_o the_o ear_n and_o heart_n of_o the_o vulgar_a then_o sound_a rule_n and_o solid_a reason_n possible_o can_v do_v but_o now_o if_o a_o man_n will_v know_v which_o of_o the_o two_o be_v the_o more_o personable_a and_o better_a proportion_a man_n he_o must_v strip_v they_o both_o out_o of_o their_o clothes_n and_o then_o he_o shall_v see_v they_o such_o as_o indeed_o they_o be_v and_o so_o if_o our_o hearer_n will_v know_v what_o be_v solid_a and_o substantial_a in_o our_o sermon_n they_o must_v turn_v they_o out_o of_o their_o attire_n of_o because_o we_o hear_v and_o rehearse_v and_o talk_v of_o a_o sermon_n but_o we_o must_v refer_v all_o to_o future_a practice_n and_o esteem_v they_o only_o so_o far_o forth_o good_a as_o they_o make_v we_o better_o either_o wise_a in_o our_o knowledge_n or_o holy_a in_o our_o obedience_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v that_o the_o prophet_n describe_v the_o nature_n of_o right_a hear_n say_v 42.23_o isa_n 42.23_o who_o among_o you_o will_v give_v ear_n to_o this_o who_o will_v hearken_v and_o hear_v for_o the_o time_n to_o come_v in_o which_o word_n 1._o when_o he_o say_v who_o will_v give_v 2.4_o 5._o by_o this_o we_o see_v that_o nehemiah_n at_o the_o same_o time_n do_v both_o prey_n god_n for_o a_o blessing_n and_o continue_v his_o speech_n with_o the_o king_n which_o show_v that_o while_o he_o be_v talk_v with_o the_o king_n about_o those_o weighty_a affair_n of_o the_o church_n he_o dart_v up_o a_o jaculatory_a short_a prayer_n unto_o god_n either_o that_o he_o will_v direct_v the_o king_n heart_n for_o the_o good_a of_o his_o people_n or_o that_o he_o will_v prosper_v the_o business_n in_o hand_n or_o some_o such_o prayer_n to_o the_o like_a purpose_n and_o hence_o we_o have_v direction_n in_o this_o case_n when_o we_o hear_v a_o useful_a point_n that_o concern_v we_o much_o we_o may_v by_o a_o short_a prayer_n desire_v god_n blessing_n upon_o it_o for_o our_o good_a without_o hinder_v or_o divert_v away_o our_o attention_n from_o any_o part_n of_o the_o sermon_n for_o
