of_o that_o power_n shall_v procure_v man_n a_o dispensation_n from_o holiness_n here_o or_o a_o title_n to_o heaven_n hereafter_o and_o if_o after_o both_o these_o you_o will_v please_v to_o read_v the_o conclusion_n of_o the_o sermon_n from_o verse_n 24._o to_o 28._o you_o will_v find_v he_o assure_v all_o the_o world_n that_o he_o that_o build_v his_o hope_n of_o heaven_n upon_o any_o thing_n without_o a_o honest_a hearty_a endeavour_n to_o do_v his_o duty_n as_o his_o lord_n have_v direct_v he_o in_o these_o say_n shall_v die_v like_o a_o fool_n and_o perish_v in_o the_o disappointment_n of_o his_o hope_n for_o ever_o 2._o but_o second_o i_o add_v that_o our_o lord_n have_v not_o only_o thus_o establish_v the_o necessity_n of_o duty_n but_o add_v to_o it_o and_o fix_v it_o upon_o firm_a principle_n than_o it_o be_v before_o i_o mention_v two_o of_o these_o strong_a motive_n to_o engage_v our_o endeavour_n and_o better_a encouragement_n that_o those_o endeavour_n shall_v be_v successful_a 1._o strong_a motive_n and_o more_o prevail_a argument_n and_o that_o of_o both_o sort_n both_o as_o to_o promise_n of_o blessing_n to_o be_v endearment_n of_o duty_n and_o threaten_n of_o punishment_n to_o be_v affrightment_n from_o sin_n if_o i_o may_v not_o be_v allow_v to_o say_v that_o all_o the_o promise_n and_o threaten_n under_o the_o law_n and_o the_o prophet_n do_v relate_v to_o temporal_a reward_n and_o punishment_n only_o yet_o i_o be_o sure_a i_o may_v safe_o say_v they_o be_v word_v in_o such_o a_o phrase_n as_o if_o they_o do_v the_o collect_v any_o thing_n beyond_o they_o require_v art_n a_o very_a close_o advert_v to_o thing_n and_o great_a skill_n to_o make_v deduction_n from_o they_o future_a reward_n and_o punishment_n be_v wrap_v up_o in_o cloud_n and_o shade_n and_o express_v in_o dark_a symbol_n so_o that_o a_o learned_a sect_n among_o the_o jew_n not_o only_o doubt_v but_o flat_o deny_v any_o such_o thing_n as_o the_o sadducee_n we_o know_v do_v and_o it_o be_v worth_a observe_n that_o the_o argument_n which_o our_o saviour_n produce_v out_o of_o the_o law_n to_o convince_v they_o of_o their_o error_n lie_v something_o above_o the_o level_n of_o a_o common_a apprehension_n every_o vulgar_a understanding_n be_v not_o able_a to_o improve_v it_o to_o its_o due_a force_n and_o unanswerable_a strength_n but_o the_o bless_a jesus_n have_v full_o clear_v all_o these_o thing_n bring_v life_n and_o immortality_n to_o light_v by_o his_o orient_a gospel_n and_o assure_v the_o world_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o certainty_n of_o they_o for_o which_o reason_n perhaps_o he_o be_v call_v by_o the_o prophet_n the_o desire_n of_o all_o nation_n because_o he_o be_v to_o clear_v the_o truth_n and_o certainty_n of_o those_o most_o concern_v matter_n which_o the_o virtuous_a and_o the_o wise_a in_o all_o nation_n have_v but_o some_o languish_v hope_n and_o tremulous_a expectation_n of_o rather_o desire_v and_o wish_v then_o steady_o believe_v that_o there_o be_v a_o future_a state_n and_o such_o great_a thing_n to_o be_v enjoy_v by_o good_a man_n in_o it_o our_o bless_a lord_n therefore_o clear_v all_o these_o doubt_n relieve_v all_o these_o fear_n cheer_v these_o languishment_n assure_v the_o hope_n and_o long_n of_o all_o good_a man_n and_o this_o sun_n of_o righteousness_n appear_v with_o heal_v under_o his_o wing_n for_o the_o comfort_n of_o all_o those_o that_o fear_v god_n i_o only_o add_v that_o he_o have_v not_o only_o clear_v the_o truth_n and_o certainty_n of_o these_o reward_n and_o punishment_n but_o give_v such_o amase_a and_o startle_a account_n of_o they_o as_o want_v only_o due_a consideration_n to_o make_v they_o effectual_a upon_o all_o men._n man_n must_v now_o break_v through_o the_o horror_n of_o everlasting_a burn_n and_o resist_v the_o most_o endear_n charm_n of_o eternal_a bliss_n before_o they_o can_v dare_v to_o transgress_v these_o law_n they_o must_v think_v the_o loss_n of_o heaven_n a_o trifle_n and_o suffer_v eternal_a torture_n in_o hell_n inconsiderable_a thing_n before_o they_o can_v be_v disobedient_a for_o they_o be_v assure_v they_o can_v be_v so_o upon_o no_o cheap_a term_n 2._o more_o cheer_v and_o inspirit_v encouragement_n first_o of_o acceptance_n upon_o the_o account_n of_o christ_n merit_n second_o of_o success_n by_o the_o assistance_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n it_o be_v little_o less_o than_o a_o miracle_n of_o mercy_n and_o the_o think_n upon_o it_o be_v a_o mighty_a surprise_n to_o a_o good_a man_n thought_n that_o god_n shall_v not_o only_o accept_v but_o promise_v so_o ample_o to_o reward_v so_o worthless_a a_o thing_n as_o the_o service_n of_o the_o best_a man_n live_v be_v but_o of_o this_o our_o lord_n have_v clear_v the_o reason_n in_o his_o gospel_n and_o we_o can_v well_o desire_v any_o thing_n but_o this_o one_o beyond_o it_o viz._n that_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o do_v this_o duty_n that_o be_v so_o high_o encourage_v for_o otherwise_o the_o mighty_a argument_n will_v signify_v nothing_o our_o lord_n therefore_o have_v comply_v with_o we_o in_o this_o also_o assure_v
