as_o he_o be_v now_o by_o such_o importation_n from_o abroad_o and_o certain_o there_o be_v less_o reason_n his_o majesty_n shall_v be_v defraud_v in_o a_o great_a revenue_n by_o a_o import_v liquor_n than_o in_o a_o small_a matter_n by_o his_o own_o subject_n here_o at_o home_n also_o be_v the_o importer_n of_o double_a brandy_n discourage_v from_o such_o importation_n which_o may_v forthwith_o it_o be_v humble_o pray_v that_o this_o honourable_a house_n will_v be_v please_v to_o explain_v the_o say_a act_n and_o declare_v all_o such_o brandy_n to_o pay_v from_o a_o penny_n to_o eight_o penny_n per_fw-la gallon_n over_o and_o above_o single_a brandy_n proportionable_o to_o what_o they_o shall_v be_v find_v above_o proof_n and_o perfect_o make_v which_o every_o artist_n and_o most_o dealer_n in_o the_o commodity_n do_v well_o know_v else_o they_o can_v not_o buy_v and_o sell_v the_o same_o at_o prize_n proportionate_a to_o its_o strength_n and_o goodness_n and_o even_o at_o this_o time_n in_o the_o customhouse_n they_o enter_v ad_fw-la valorem_fw-la in_o one_o and_o the_o same_o day_n single_a brandy_n at_o 24_o s._n per_fw-la tun_n and_o so_o on_o proportionable_o to_o the_o value_n to_o 48_o s._n per_fw-la tun_n according_a to_o the_o distinction_n of_o the_o say_a brandy_n as_o they_o be_v above_o proof_n which_o method_n and_o practice_n have_v for_o about_o sixteen_o year_n be_v discontinue_v this_o proposer_n have_v late_o in_o print_n remonstrate_v the_o prejudice_n thereby_o do_v the_o crown_n whereupon_o the_o same_o be_v revive_v and_o appear_v so_o just_a and_o reasonable_a that_o the_o very_a importer_n themselves_o be_v satisfy_v therein_o it_o be_v further_a humble_o submit_v that_o if_o the_o say_v single_a brandy_n be_v make_v to_o pay_v 4_o d._n per_fw-la gallon_n more_o at_o least_o provide_v our_o english_a spirit_n and_o aqua_fw-la vitæ_fw-la be_v advance_v one_o four_o more_o also_o yet_o it_o will_v not_o lessen_v the_o importation_n the_o consumption_n thereof_o be_v daily_o more_o and_o more_o in_o use_n and_o esteem_v even_o to_o the_o utter_a ruin_n and_o hindrance_n of_o all_o other_o import_v strong-water_n do_v it_o affect_v the_o english_a but_o the_o french_a for_o they_o must_v continue_v the_o make_n of_o they_o as_o much_o as_o ever_o for_o they_o chief_o make_v such_o wine_n into_o brandy_n as_o ly●_n up_o so_o far_o in_o the_o country_n that_o they_o can_v with_o advantage_n bring_v they_o down_o in_o specie_fw-la or_o have_v sale_n for_o and_o the_o same_o motive_n still_o continue_v they_o will_v be_v glad_a to_o accept_v any_o prize_n rather_o than_o make_v nothing_o of_o they_o whereas_o it_o may_v be_v object_v that_o if_o a_o great_a duty_n be_v lay_v upon_o brandy_n or_o other_o commodity_n his_o majesty_n will_v not_o receive_v so_o much_o in_o his_o revenue_n thereon_o as_o before_o by_o reason_n that_o then_o there_o will_v be_v the_o prospect_n of_o so_o great_a a_o profit_n to_o the_o importer_n as_o may_v tempt_v they_o to_o use_v more_o trick_n to_o bring_v the_o same_o in_o private_o and_o defraud_v his_o majesty_n of_o his_o duty_n which_o be_v common_o call_v run_v of_o good_n in_o answer_v to_o this_o it_o be_v humble_o submit_v to_o consideration_n whether_o necessary_a and_o profitable_a law_n ought_v to_o be_v forbear_v out_o of_o respect_n to_o such_o kind_n of_o person_n and_o their_o ill_a course_n or_o whether_o rather_o all_o offender_n in_o that_o kind_n ought_v not_o by_o the_o severity_n of_o good_a and_o wholesome_a law_n to_o be_v
