at_o st._n jago_n de_fw-fr la_fw-fr vega_n and_o not_o elsewhere_o and_o the_o secretary_n for_o the_o time_n be_v shall_v at_o all_o office_n hour_n be_v ready_a to_o show_v all_o or_o any_o of_o the_o say_a act_n when_o thereunto_o require_v by_o any_o of_o his_o majesty_n subject_n as_o may_v or_o shall_v have_v occasion_n to_o view_n the_o same_o and_o shall_v give_v copy_n thereof_o or_o any_o clause_n in_o any_o of_o they_o contain_v for_o which_o he_o shall_v be_v allow_v eight_o penny_n per_fw-la sheet_n account_v sixteen_o line_n to_o a_o sheet_n and_o fourteen_o word_n to_o a_o line_n and_o that_o he_o shall_v likewise_o be_v allow_v for_o compare_v and_o examine_v any_o copy_n contain_v the_o whole_a body_n of_o the_o law_n with_o the_o original_n forty_o shilling_n currant_n money_n and_o no_o more_o and_o to_o the_o end_n his_o majesty_n subject_n may_v be_v full_o satisfy_v no_o embezelment_n razure_n or_o defacement_n of_o the_o say_a act_n or_o any_o of_o they_o shall_v for_o the_o future_a be_v commit_v in_o the_o say_a office_n it_o be_v enact_v and_o ordain_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o the_o secretary_n of_o this_o island_n or_o his_o lawful_a deputy_n that_o shall_v act_n in_o his_o room_n or_o stead_n shall_v give_v in_o bond_n with_o good_a and_o sufficient_a security_n to_o our_o sovereign_a lord_n the_o king_n his_o heir_n and_o successor_n in_o the_o penalty_n of_o four_o thousand_o pound_n in_o the_o follow_a condition_n the_o condition_n of_o this_o obligation_n be_v such_o that_o if_o the_o above_o bind_v a._n b._n shall_v and_o do_v well_o and_o faithful_o execute_v and_o perform_v the_o office_n and_o place_n of_o secretary_n and_o clerk_z of_o the_o enrolment_n for_o this_o his_o majesty_n island_n of_o jamaica_n and_o also_o faithful_o and_o true_o keep_v and_o preserve_v in_o his_o say_a office_n all_o and_o every_o the_o act_n of_o this_o island_n make_v since_o the_o seventeen_o day_n of_o march_n in_o the_o year_n of_o our_o lord_n god_n one_o thousand_o six_o hundred_o and_o eighty_o so_o that_o his_o majesty_n subject_n may_v have_v recourse_n thereunto_o and_o do_v in_o all_o thing_n else_o comply_v with_o the_o duty_n of_o the_o say_a office_n according_a to_o the_o trust_v repose_v in_o he_o and_o according_a to_o the_o law_n of_o this_o island_n in_o such_o case_n plaint_n or_o information_n wherein_o no_o essoin_fw-fr protection_n injunction_n wager_n of_o law_n or_o non_fw-la vult_fw-la ulterius_fw-la prosequi_fw-la shall_v be_v admit_v or_o allow_v the_o one_o half_a to_o be_v to_o our_o sovereign_a lord_n the_o king_n his_o heir_n and_o successor_n for_o and_o towards_o the_o support_n of_o the_o government_n of_o this_o his_o majesty_n island_n and_o the_o contingent_a charge_n thereof_o and_o the_o other_o half_a to_o the_o informer_n or_o he_o that_o shall_v sue_v for_o the_o same_o any_o law_n custom_n or_o usage_n to_o the_o contrary_a in_o any_o wise_n notwithstanding_o provide_v also_o and_o be_v it_o hereby_o declare_v that_o if_o the_o secretary_n or_o his_o lawful_a deputy_n for_o the_o time_n be_v in_o this_o island_n shall_v or_o rhenish_a wine_n three_o pound_n every_o gallon_n of_o brandy_n one_o shilling_n every_o gallon_n of_o english_a spirit_n three_o penny_n every_o tun_n of_o beer_n or_o cider_n eight_o shilling_n every_o tun_n of_o mom_o or_o metheglin_n forty_o shilling_n for_o every_o hundred_o pound_n of_o white_a sugar_n ten_o shilling_n for_o every_o hundred_o pound_n of_o muscovado_n or_o pameel_n sugar_n six_o shilling_n for_o every_o pound_n of_o indigo_n six_o penny_n for_o every_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n two_o penny_n for_o every_o hundred_o pound_n of_o ginger_n ten_o shilling_n for_o every_o gallon_n of_o rum_o one_o shilling_n and_o six_o penny_n for_o every_o hundred_o pound_n of_o cocoa_n ten_o shilling_n and_o so_o proportionable_o for_o a_o great_a of_o lesser_a quantity_n of_o
other_o to_o the_o informer_n who_o shall_v sue_v for_o the_o same_o in_o any_o court_n of_o record_n within_o this_o island_n wherein_o no_o essoign_n protection_n injunction_n or_o wager_n of_o law_n shall_v be_v allow_v an_z act_z impower_a justice_n of_o the_o peace_n to_o decide_v difference_n not_o exceed_v forty_o shilling_n whereas_o many_o inconvenience_n may_v arise_v unto_o the_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o same_o that_o all_o manner_n of_o debt_n trespass_n and_o other_o matter_n not_o exceed_v the_o value_n of_o forty_o shilling_n wherein_o the_o tithe_n of_o land_n be_v not_o concern_v shall_v and_o may_v be_v hear_v adjudge_v and_o determine_v by_o any_o of_o his_o majesty_n justice_n of_o the_o peace_n of_o this_o island_n within_o their_o respective_a precinct_n without_o appeal_n which_o say_v justice_n be_v hereby_o require_v upon_o complaint_n make_v to_o grant_v a_o warrant_n or_o summons_n against_o the_o person_n complain_v of_o thereby_o require_v he_o to_o appear_v and_o answer_v the_o say_a complaint_n and_o in_o case_n of_o non-appearance_n to_o issue_v out_o a_o warrant_n of_o contempt_n direct_v to_o the_o constable_n to_o bring_v the_o contemner_n before_o he_o as_o well_o to_o answer_v the_o say_a contempt_n as_o the_o plaintiff_n action_n and_o may_v if_o he_o see_v cause_n fine_a the_o contemner_n provide_v the_o say_a fine_n exceed_v not_o ten_o shilling_n to_o be_v for_o the_o use_v of_o the_o parish_n where_o such_o offence_n shall_v be_v commit_v and_o after_o judgement_n give_v in_o either_o case_n may_v grant_v a_o warrant_n of_o distress_n direct_v to_o the_o constable_n to_o levy_v the_o say_v fine_a debt_n damage_n and_o charge_n upon_o the_o defendant_n good_n and_o chattel_n who_o by_o virtue_n or_o person_n who_o do_v or_o shall_v utter_v or_o sell_v by_o way_n of_o retail_n madera_n wines_n or_o brandy_n and_o shall_v presume_v by_o any_o mean_n direct_o or_o indirect_o to_o take_v or_o receive_v above_o the_o rate_n hereafter_o mention_v for_o the_o aforesaid_a liquor_n viz._n for_o madera_n wine_n sifteen_fw-mi penny_n the_o quart_n and_o brandy_n two_o shilling_n and_o six_o penny_n the_o quart_n and_o so_o proportionable_o for_o a_o great_a or_o lesser_a quantity_n shall_v forfeit_v the_o sum_n of_o forty_o shilling_n for_o every_o such_o offence_n to_o be_v levy_v by_o warrant_n from_o any_o of_o his_o majesty_n justice_n of_o the_o peace_n of_o the_o precinct_n where_o the_o fault_n be_v commit_v on_o the_o good_n and_o chattel_n of_o any_o person_n or_o person_n so_o offend_a the_o one_o half_a of_o which_o forfeiture_n shall_v be_v to_o the_o churchwarden_n for_o the_o use_v of_o the_o parish_n the_o other_o to_o the_o informer_n any_o law_n custom_n or_o great_a and_o dangerous_a wound_n receive_v in_o the_o public_a service_n of_o this_o island_n in_o pursuit_n of_o several_a rebellious_a negro_n by_o reason_n of_o a_o command_n from_o his_o superior_a officer_n whereby_o he_o have_v be_v a_o long_a time_n hinder_v from_o all_o manner_n of_o employment_n to_o his_o great_a suffer_v damage_n and_o charge_n as_o also_o to_o the_o loss_n of_o the_o use_n of_o one_o of_o his_o limb_n as_o have_v sufficient_o be_v make_v appear_v to_o we_o to_o the_o end_n therefore_o that_o all_o person_n of_o the_o like_a quality_n and_o forwardness_n to_o serve_v the_o country_n may_v for_o the_o future_a receive_v due_a encouragement_n be_v it_o therefore_o enact_v by_o the_o governor_n council_n and_o assembly_n and_o it_o be_v hereby_o enact_v and_o ordain_v by_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o same_o that_o the_o say_v nicholas_n scarlet_n shall_v in_o compensation_n of_o the_o say_a loss_n and_o damage_n have_v and_o receive_v out_o of_o his_o majesty_n public_a revenue_n a_o yearly_o salary_n of_o ten_o pound_n during_o his_o residence_n in_o this_o island_n which_o say_v sum_n of_o money_n be_v hereby_o appoint_v to_o be_v pay_v by_o the_o receiver_n for_o the_o time_n be_v out_o of_o the_o treasury_n when_o demand_v upon_o penalty_n of_o twenty_o pound_n the_o one_o half_a to_o our_o sovereign_a lord_n the_o king_n his_o heir_n and_o successor_n for_o and_o towards_o the_o support_n of_o the_o government_n of_o this_o island_n and_o the_o contingent_a charge_n thereof_o and_o the_o other_o half_a to_o the_o party_n aggrieve_v to_o be_v recover_v in_o any_o court_n of_o record_n within_o this_o island_n by_o bill_n plaint_n or_o information_n where_o no_o essoign_n protection_n or_o wager_n of_o law_n shall_v be_v allow_v a_o act_n for_o the_o restrain_v and_o punish_v privateer_n and_o pirate_n whereas_o nothing_o can_v more_o contribute_v to_o his_o sacred_a majesty_n honour_n than_o that_o such_o article_n as_o be_v conclude_v and_o agree_v on_o in_o all_o treaty_n of_o peace_n shall_v by_o all_o his_o majesty_n subject_n according_a to_o their_o duty_n be_v most_o inviolable_o preserve_v and_o keep_v in_o and_o over_o all_o
thereupon_o in_o any_o court_n of_o record_n within_o this_o island_n and_o if_o such_o mortgagee_n shall_v not_o within_o three_o month_n after_o request_n and_o tender_v make_v for_o his_o reasonable_a charge_n repair_v to_o the_o office_n of_o enrolment_n and_o there_o make_v such_o acknowledgement_n as_o aforesaid_a he_o she_o or_o they_o so_o refuse_v shall_v for_o every_o such_o offence_n forfeit_a and_o pay_v unto_o the_o party_n or_o party_n aggrieve_v the_o sum_n of_o fifty_o pound_n currant_n money_n of_o this_o island_n to_o be_v recover_v in_o any_o of_o his_o majesty_n court_n of_o record_n within_o this_o island_n by_o bill_n plaint_n or_o information_n wherein_o no_o essoign_n wager_n of_o law_n or_o protection_n shall_v be_v allow_v and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v and_o ordain_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o it_o shall_v and_o may_v be_v lawful_a for_o the_o judge_n before_o who_o such_o acknowledgement_n of_o deed_n or_o other_o write_n be_v and_o shall_v be_v make_v to_o demand_v and_o receive_v for_o every_o deed_n of_o the_o value_n of_o twenty_o pound_n or_o more_o ten_o shilling_n and_o for_o every_o deed_n under_o the_o value_n of_o twenty_o pound_n five_o shilling_n and_o no_o more_o under_o the_o penalty_n of_o twenty_o pound_n the_o one_o half_a to_o be_v to_o our_o sovereign_a lord_n the_o king_n his_o heir_n and_o for_o acknowledge_v satisfaction_n in_o the_o margin_n of_o a_o mortgage_n record_v one_o shilling_n and_o three_o penny_n and_o no_o more_o under_o the_o penalty_n of_o ten_o pound_n to_o the_o use_v and_o to_o be_v recover_v as_o aforesaid_a and_o be_v it_o likewise_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o all_o patent_n already_o grant_v and_o not_o enrol_v shall_v be_v enrol_v in_o the_o office_n of_o enrolment_n within_o six_o month_n and_o all_o patent_n hereafter_o to_o be_v grant_v shall_v be_v enrol_v within_o six_o month_n after_o the_o seal_v such_o patent_n which_o enrolment_n as_o likewise_o all_o such_o as_o be_v already_o there_o enrol_v shall_v be_v good_a and_o valid_a in_o the_o law_n notwithstanding_o any_o clause_n insert_v in_o the_o say_a patent_n direct_v the_o contrary_a and_o whereas_o it_o be_v most_o manifest_a that_o the_o estate_n of_o several_a orphan_n have_v be_v preserve_v and_o vast_o improve_v by_o be_v during_o their_o minority_n enact_v and_o ordain_v by_o the_o governor_n council_n and_o assembly_n and_o it_o be_v hereby_o enact_v and_o ordain_v by_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o same_o that_o the_o say_v william_n parker_n his_o heir_n and_o assign_v be_v by_o this_o act_n impower_v and_o authorize_v for_o the_o space_n and_o term_v of_o fourteen_o year_n from_o the_o make_n hereof_o to_o ask_v demand_n sue_v for_o recover_v and_o receive_v as_o a_o duty_n and_o toll_n for_o the_o transport_v of_o any_o person_n over_o the_o say_a ferry_n seven_o penny_n half_a penny_n for_o every_o horse_n and_o man_n fifteen_o penny_n for_o every_o grow_v beast_n that_o have_v no_o rider_n seven_o penny_n half_a penny_n for_o every_o sheep_n calf_n or_o hog_n six_o penny_n and_o that_o the_o say_v william_n parker_n his_o heir_n and_o assign_v may_v and_o shall_v erect_v a_o tavern_n or_o victualling-house_n near_o the_o say_a ferry_n and_o shall_v not_o be_v compel_v to_o renew_v or_o pay_v any_o licence_n money_n for_o the_o same_o provide_v always_o that_o if_o the_o say_v william_n parker_n or_o his_o assign_v shall_v not_o finish_v and_o complete_a the_o say_a way_n and_o passage_n within_o twelve_o month_n from_o and_o after_o the_o make_n of_o this_o act_n and_o that_o in_o all_o place_n it_o be_v not_o less_o than_o eight_o foot_n broad_a and_o that_o the_o same_o be_v always_o keep_v in_o good_a and_o sufficient_a repair_n that_o the_o aforesaid_a limitation_n of_o the_o rate_n which_o shall_v be_v pay_v by_o virtue_n of_o this_o act_n or_o any_o letter_n patent_n grant_v for_o the_o same_o
