have_v appoint_v now_o i_o will_v argue_v by_o analogy_n if_o the_o jew_n have_v some_o such_o like_a object_n for_o their_o faith_n as_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n be_v to_o we_o and_o yet_o be_v not_o justify_v only_o by_o their_o fix_v upon_o that_o object_n but_o for_o other_o act_n of_o faith_n as_o be_v evident_a in_o the_o instance_n give_v than_o nothing_o hinder_v but_o we_o may_v be_v justify_v by_o other_o act_n of_o our_o faith_n as_o well_o as_o that_o in_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n i_o will_v give_v another_o argument_n to_o prove_v my_o assertion_n somewhat_o like_o this_o we_o be_v command_v in_o the_o gospel_n john_n 5.23_o that_o all_o man_n shall_v honour_v the_o son_n as_o they_o honour_v the_o father_n and_o wherein_o do_v abraham_n glorify_v god_n so_o much_o as_o by_o his_o strong_a faith_n rom._n 4.20_o if_o therefore_o our_o duty_n be_v to_o honour_n christ_n by_o believe_v as_o ever_o any_o of_o the_o ancient_a saint_n honour_v god_n the_o father_n why_o will_v not_o the_o same_o faith_n in_o the_o power_n of_o christ_n justify_v as_o do_v when_o it_o be_v place_v in_o the_o power_n of_o god_n which_o yet_o i_o have_v prove_v that_o it_o do_v justify_v now_o for_o scripture_n etc._n etc._n i_o shall_v give_v several_a instance_n of_o faith_n in_o the_o power_n of_o christ_n or_o at_o least_o in_o some_o attribute_n and_o excellency_n of_o the_o christian_a church_n have_v for_o many_o hundred_o of_o year_n i_o shall_v not_o meddle_v with_o the_o present_a state_n of_o thing_n i_o say_v the_o christian_a church_n have_v for_o many_o hundred_o of_o year_n together_o former_o be_v under_o as_o great_a a_o danger_n from_o ceremony_n as_o the_o jew_n be_v in_o from_o the_o ceremonial_a law_n and_o for_o proof_n of_o this_o i_o shall_v only_o quote_v some_o passage_n out_o of_o the_o preface_n to_o the_o book_n of_o common-prayer_n under_o the_o title_n of_o ceremony_n why_o some_o be_v abolish_v and_o some_o retain_v where_o you_o have_v these_o beside_o other_o expression_n some_o ceremony_n be_v put_v away_o because_o the_o great_a excess_n and_o multitude_n of_o they_o have_v so_o increase_v in_o these_o late_a day_n that_o the_o burden_n of_o they_o be_v intolerable_a whereof_o st._n austin_n in_o his_o time_n complain_v that_o they_o be_v grow_v to_o such_o a_o number_n that_o the_o estate_n of_o darken_v then_o declare_v and_o set_v forth_o christ_n benefit_n unto_o we_o there_o be_v other_o considerable_a passage_n concern_v ceremony_n in_o that_o preface_n but_o this_o that_o i_o have_v transcribe_v serve_v sufficient_o for_o my_o purpose_n and_o i_o suppose_v full_o take_v off_o the_o objection_n that_o since_o the_o ceremonial_a law_n be_v down_o christian_n can_v be_v in_o the_o same_o danger_n that_o the_o jew_n &_o galatian_n be_v from_o ceremony_n i_o have_v yet_o one_o more_o particular_a to_o add_v by_o way_n of_o answer_n to_o the_o objection_n and_o it_o be_v this_o in_o the_o seven_o place_n that_o i_o very_o believe_v though_o the_o jew_n have_v have_v no_o such_o law_n give_v they_o nor_o the_o gentile-galatians_n such_o a_o law_n preach_v among_o they_o by_o the_o jew_n nor_o have_v any_o such_o ceremony_n ever_o be_v set_v up_o in_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n as_o the_o quotation_n speak_v of_o yet_o both_o the_o jew_n and_o galatian_n and_o we_o all_o have_v such_o a_o inclination_n to_o such_o a_o earnest_a desire_n after_o the_o way_n of_o work_n that_o without_o a_o strict_a hand_n over_o ourselves_o from_o give_v way_n to_o this_o natural_a disposition_n we_o shall_v be_v all_o exceed_a apt_a to_o find_v out_o some_o way_n or_o other_o of_o vent_v this_o humour_n either_o by_o invent_v ceremony_n and_o superisttion_n or_o do_v the_o duty_n of_o the_o moral_a law_n superficial_o and_o yet_o rest_v upon_o they_o for_o our_o justification_n as_o for_o duty_n or_o good_a work_n that_o be_v true_o good_a though_o they_o may_v be_v abuse_v after_o their_o performance_n by_o a_o spiritual_a pride_n adhere_v to_o they_o nay_o though_o they_o may_v perhaps_o be_v spoil_v sometime_o by_o a_o opinion_n of_o merit_n yet_o because_o i_o can_v think_v it_o possible_a for_o a_o man_n that_o do_v exercise_v himself_o to_o serve_v god_n with_o a_o perfect_a heart_n to_o turn_v all_o his_o really-good_a work_n into_o legal-works_a by_o a_o opinion_n of_o merit_n i_o shall_v except_v this_o from_o be_v a_o three_o way_n in_o which_o legality_n predominant_a may_v exert_v and_o show_v itself_o but_o for_o the_o other_o two_o way_n of_o invent_a ceremony_n or_o superstitiuâ—s_a observance_n and_o a_o external_a obedience_n to_o the_o duty_n of_o the_o moral_a law_n i_o think_v the_o nature_n of_o man_n be_v so_o addict_v to_o the_o way_n of_o work_n that_o though_o there_o be_v no_o ceremonial_a law_n among_o we_o at_o present_a either_o from_o god_n or_o man_n yet_o man_n will_v general_o find_v out_o one_o or_o both_o of_o those_o way_n to_o vent_v their_o legality_n even_o to_o a_o opinion_n of_o merit_n in_o they_o this_o i_o shall_v show_v to_o have_v be_v usual_o practise_v in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o scripture_n and_o since_o and_o
