distinguish_v any_o way_n from_o the_o rest_n by_o virtue_n of_o such_o distinction_n second_o the_o second_o thing_n i_o observe_v concerning_o the_o business_n in_o hand_n be_v that_o the_o offer_n up_o unto_o god_n of_o some_o metaphorical_a sacrifice_n in_o a_o peculiar_a manner_n be_v appropriate_a unto_o man_n set_v a_o part_n for_o the_o work_n of_o the_o ministry_n as_o the_o slay_n of_o man_n lust_n and_o the_o offer_n up_o of_o they_o be_v convert_v by_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n unto_o god_n so_o saint_n paul_n of_o his_o ministry_n rom._n 15._o 16._o that_o i_o shall_v be_v the_o minister_n of_o jesus_n christ_n unto_o the_o gentile_n minister_a the_o gospel_n of_o god_n that_o the_o offer_n up_o of_o the_o gentile_n may_v be_v acceptable_a etc._n etc._n minister_n preach_v the_o gospel_n to_o the_o conversion_n of_o soul_n be_v say_v to_o kill_v man_n lust_n and_o offer_v they_o up_o unto_o god_n as_o the_o fruit_n of_o their_o call_n as_o abel_n bring_v unto_o he_o a_o acceptable_a sacrifice_n of_o the_o fruit_n of_o his_o flock_n and_o so_o also_o in_o respect_n of_o divers_a other_o act_n of_o their_o duty_n which_o they_o perform_v in_o the_o name_n of_o their_o congregation_n now_o these_o sacrifice_n be_v appropriate_a to_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n not_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o matter_n for_o other_o also_o may_v convert_v soul_n unto_o god_n and_o offer_v up_o prayer_n and_o praise_n in_o the_o name_n of_o their_o companion_n but_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o manner_n they_o do_v it_o public_o and_o ordinary_o other_o private_o or_o in_o extraordinary_a case_n now_o if_o the_o minister_n who_o be_v thus_o god_n instrument_n for_o the_o conversion_n of_o soul_n be_v themselves_o ingraft_v into_o christ_n all_o the_o act_n they_o perform_v in_o that_o great_a work_n be_v but_o part_n of_o their_o own_o duty_n of_o the_o same_o nature_n in_o that_o regard_n with_o the_o rest_n of_o our_o spiritual_a sacrifice_n so_o that_o they_o have_v not_o by_o they_o any_o further_a peculiar_a interest_n in_o the_o office_n of_o the_o priesthood_n more_o than_o other_o but_o if_o these_o preacher_n themselves_o do_v not_o belong_v unto_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n as_o god_n oftentimes_o out_o of_o his_o care_n for_o his_o flock_n bestow_v gift_n upon_o some_o for_o the_o good_a of_o other_o on_o who_o he_o will_v bestow_v no_o grace_n for_o the_o benefit_n of_o their_o own_o soul_n man_n may_v administer_v that_o consolation_n out_o of_o the_o word_n unto_o their_o flock_n which_o themselves_o never_o taste_v preach_v to_o other_o and_o be_v themselves_o castaway_n saint_n paul_n tell_v we_o that_o some_o preach_v christ_n out_o of_o envy_n and_o contention_n not_o sincere_o but_o on_o purpose_n to_o add_v to_o his_o affliction_n and_o yet_o say_v he_o whether_o in_o pretence_n or_o in_o truth_n christ_n be_v preach_v and_o therein_o do_v i_o rejoice_v yea_o and_o will_v rejoice_v philip_n 1._o 16_o 17_o 18._o sure_o have_v there_o be_v no_o good_a effect_v by_o such_o preach_v saint_n paul_n will_v not_o have_v rejoice_v in_o it_o and_o yet_o doubtless_o it_o be_v no_o evidence_n of_o sanctification_n to_o preach_v christ_n mere_o out_o of_o contention_n and_o on_o purpose_n to_o add_v to_o the_o affliction_n of_o his_o servant_n but_o i_o say_v if_o the_o lord_n shall_v be_v please_v at_o any_o time_n to_o make_v use_n of_o such_o as_o instrument_n in_o his_o glorious_a work_n of_o convert_v soul_n shall_v we_o think_v that_o it_o be_v look_v upon_o as_o their_o sacrifice_n unto_o god_n no_o sure_o the_o soul_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v delight_v with_o the_o repentance_n of_o sinner_n but_o all_o the_o sacrifice_n of_o these_o wicked_a man_n be_v a_o abomination_n unto_o he_o and_o therefore_o they_o have_v no_o interest_n in_o it_o neither_o can_v they_o from_o hence_o be_v say_v to_o be_v priest_n of_o god_n see_v they_o continue_v dog_n and_o unclean_a beast_n etc._n etc._n so_o that_o all_o the_o right_a unto_o this_o priestly_a office_n seem_v be_v resolve_v into_o and_o be_v the_o same_o with_o the_o common_a interest_n of_o all_o believer_n in_o christ_n whereby_o they_o have_v a_o participation_n of_o his_o office_n whence_o i_o affirm_v three_o that_o the_o name_n of_o priest_n be_v nowhere_o in_o the_o scripture_n attribute_v peculiar_o and_o distinct_o to_o the_o minister_n of_o gospel_n as_o such_o let_v any_o produce_v a_o instance_n to_o the_o contrary_a and_o this_o controversy_n be_v at_o a_o end_n yea_o that_o which_o put_v a_o difference_n between_o they_o and_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o people_n of_o god_n holiness_n seem_v to_o be_v a_o more_o immediate_a participation_n of_o christ_n prophetical_a
