disposition_n that_o be_v wrought_v in_o the_o soul_n i_o come_v â—o_o the_o first_o thing_n which_o be_v the_o main_a thing_n to_o be_v 〈◊〉_d out_o of_o the_o text_n namely_o the_o manner_n 〈◊〉_d god_n work_v upon_o the_o soul_n when_o he_o prepare_v 〈…〉_o himself_o and_o this_o discover_v itself_o in_o two_o particular_n we_o will_v handle_v they_o both_o together_o 〈◊〉_d god_n do_v pluck_v a_o poor_a sinner_n from_o his_o corruption_n and_o darling_n sin_n to_o which_o he_o be_v glue_v and_o fasten_v and_o second_o as_o he_o draw_v the_o soul_n from_o sin_n so_o he_o draw_v it_o to_o himself_o to_o believe_v in_o he_o and_o to_o receive_v mercy_n from_o he_o first_o god_n pluck_v the_o soul_n from_o sin_n second_o he_o draw_v it_o to_o the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o for_o this_o purpose_n we_o have_v choose_v this_o text_n that_o so_o we_o may_v have_v some_o foot_n for_o that_o which_o we_o speak_v out_o of_o scripture_n and_o my_o purpose_n be_v not_o to_o handle_v all_o particular_n in_o the_o text_n which_o be_v many_o but_o to_o choose_v those_o that_o do_v concern_v our_o present_a purpose_n and_o best_a fit_v we_o in_o our_o proceed_n and_o the_o two_o main_a point_n which_o i_o mean_v to_o discover_v out_o of_o the_o text_n be_v these_o first_o that_o every_o man_n in_o his_o natural_a condition_n be_v fasten_v and_o settle_v in_o the_o state_n of_o sin_n and_o corruption_n second_o that_o the_o lord_n by_o a_o holy_a kind_n of_o violence_n pluck_v off_o the_o soul_n from_o sin_n and_o draw_v it_o to_o himself_o these_o be_v the_o two_o thing_n which_o in_o the_o text_n i_o aim_v at_o but_o the_o second_o be_v the_o main_a thing_n i_o look_v at_o &_o we_o must_v handle_v they_o both_o because_o the_o draw_n of_o a_o thing_n from_o another_o impli_v that_o the_o thing_n which_o be_v draw_v be_v fasten_v to_o some_o thing_n from_o whence_o it_o be_v to_o be_v draw_v and_o therefore_o when_o the_o lord_n say_v he_o will_v draw_v a_o poor_a sinner_n to_o himself_o it_o imply_v that_o we_o be_v stick_v fast_o and_o glue_v to_o our_o corruption_n from_o whence_o we_o must_v be_v draw_v and_o when_o this_o be_v once_o do_v than_o the_o face_n be_v towards_o heaven_n towards_o zion_n than_o it_o be_v fit_v to_o receive_v mercy_n from_o the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o because_o this_o draw_n unto_o god_n do_v imply_v a_o fasten_n of_o the_o soul_n unto_o sin_n from_o whence_o it_o must_v be_v draw_v the_o point_n therefore_o be_v this_o namely_o that_o every_o man_n natural_a estate_n and_o condition_n be_v fasten_v and_o settle_v and_o rivet_v to_o his_o sin_n and_o corruption_n a_o poor_a creature_n by_o nature_n be_v not_o only_o ingraft_v into_o sin_n but_o he_o be_v root_v into_o the_o rebellion_n of_o adam_n and_o be_v grow_v strong_a with_o sinful_a corruption_n and_o distemper_n of_o his_o own_o soul_n nay_o a_o man_n be_v not_o able_a to_o express_v the_o strong_a combination_n between_o sin_n and_o the_o soul_n it_o be_v screw_v into_o sin_n and_o rivet_v into_o corruption_n which_o have_v be_v convey_v thereunto_o and_o derive_v from_o our_o first_o parent_n and_o that_o the_o soâ—â—le_n be_v thus_o fasten_v and_o settle_v and_o glue_v to_o sin_n we_o may_v observe_v it_o in_o two_o particular_n partly_o in_o the_o dominion_n that_o sin_n and_o satan_n have_v over_o the_o soul_n partly_o in_o the_o amity_n that_o the_o soul_n have_v to_o sin_n first_o then_o consider_v the_o dominion_n that_o sin_n have_v over_o the_o soul_n that_o sovereign_a and_o uncontrollable_a command_n which_o sin_n exercise_v over_o the_o soul_n of_o every_o poor_a creature_n under_o heaven_n which_o be_v in_o a_o natural_a estate_n in_o the_o bond_n of_o iniquity_n and_o under_o the_o power_n of_o satan_n and_o we_o shall_v see_v that_o the_o soul_n be_v fasten_v to_o sin_n act_v 26.18_o the_o text_n say_v that_o they_o be_v under_o the_o power_n of_o satan_n to_o open_v their_o eye_n say_v the_o text_n that_o they_o may_v turn_v from_o darkness_n to_o light_n and_o from_o the_o power_n of_o satan_n to_o god_n if_o you_o ask_v i_o how_o the_o devil_n have_v power_n over_o poor_a sinner_n the_o apostle_n disposition_n that_o be_v wrought_v in_o the_o soul_n by_o god_n the_o act_n of_o god_n be_v a_o draw_v of_o the_o soul_n by_o a_o holy_a kind_n of_o violence_n from_o sin_n unto_o himself_o i_o will_v not_o here_o speak_v of_o the_o inability_n of_o the_o soul_n or_o that_o god_n be_v the_o author_n of_o this_o work_n for_o these_o i_o have_v handle_v before_o out_o of_o that_o place_n ezech._n 11.19_o it_o be_v god_n that_o take_v away_o the_o stony_a heart_n and_o give_v a_o heart_n of_o flesh_n we_o will_v only_o now_o speak_v of_o the_o dispensation_n of_o the_o work_n of_o god_n of_o the_o manner_n how_o god_n prepare_v a_o sinner_n for_o himself_o and_o the_o text_n say_v he_o do_v it_o by_o draw_v he_o do_v by_o a_o holy_a kind_n of_o violence_n draw_v the_o soul_n another_o as_o he_o pluck_v the_o one_o piece_n from_o the_o other_o so_o he_o draw_v that_o which_o he_o pluck_v to_o himself_o he_o do_v not_o only_o draw_v it_o from_o the_o other_o but_o he_o draw_v that_o part_n near_o to_o himself_o so_o that_o both_o be_v make_v up_o by_o one_o action_n and_o operation_n and_o so_o it_o be_v here_o the_o pluck_n of_o a_o sinner_n from_o corruption_n and_o draw_v of_o he_o to_o god_n both_o these_o be_v act_v by_o god_n at_o once_o and_o therefore_o i_o will_v handle_v they_o both_o together_o only_o observe_v there_o must_v be_v such_o a_o kind_n of_o thing_n as_o this_o be_v before_o god_n will_v take_v possession_n of_o the_o soul_n namely_o there_o must_v be_v a_o sever_n of_o the_o soul_n from_o sin_n and_o a_o draw_v of_o it_o to_o god_n look_v as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o man_n body_n if_o any_o part_n thereof_o be_v out_o of_o joint_n or_o break_v before_o this_o part_n can_v be_v jonted_a aright_o again_o haply_o there_o be_v some_o filth_n some_o moist_a humour_n about_o it_o or_o haply_o there_o be_v some_o dead_a flesh_n in_o it_o now_o this_o dead_a flesh_n must_v be_v take_v away_o and_o the_o filth_n and_o ill_a humour_n must_v be_v remove_v before_o that_o part_n can_v be_v set_v in_o its_o right_a place_n again_o so_o it_o must_v be_v with_o the_o soul_n of_o god_n servant_n every_o soul_n by_o sin_n be_v unjointed_a and_o whole_o remove_v from_o god_n the_o soul_n indeed_o be_v make_v for_o god_n and_o shall_v have_v close_v with_o he_o and_o fasten_v upon_o he_o but_o by_o reason_n of_o sin_n the_o soul_n be_v quite_o break_a now_o before_o the_o soul_n can_v be_v make_v fit_a for_o god_n before_o it_o can_v be_v put_v into_o a_o right_a frame_n all_o that_o noisome_a corruption_n that_o be_v in_o it_o and_o those_o base_a lust_n that_o hang_v upon_o it_o the_o soul_n must_v be_v free_v from_o these_o before_o god_n can_v work_v upon_o it_o or_o that_o receive_v mercy_n and_o salvation_n from_o god_n before_o it_o can_v perform_v any_o good_a duty_n and_o this_o be_v do_v by_o draw_v the_o lord_n by_o a_o holy_a kind_n of_o violence_n do_v pluck_v the_o soul_n from_o those_o sin_n that_o harbour_v in_o it_o and_o those_o distemper_n that_o press_v upon_o it_o and_o then_o he_o draw_v it_o unto_o himself_o and_o for_o the_o open_n of_o this_o we_o must_v consider_v three_o thing_n first_o what_o the_o nature_n of_o this_o draw_v be_v what_o be_v mean_v hereby_o second_o the_o mean_n how_o and_o whereby_o god_n come_v to_o draw_v a_o poor_a sinner_n from_o sin_n to_o himself_o three_o the_o argument_n why_o god_n must_v thus_o draw_v with_o a_o holy_a kind_n of_o violence_n and_o that_o god_n may_v do_v this_o without_o any_o prejudice_n at_o all_o to_o the_o will_n first_o what_o the_o nature_n of_o this_o draw_v be_v and_o we_o must_v understand_v that_o there_o be_v a_o double_a kind_n of_o draw_v in_o scripture_n this_o word_n impli_v a_o double_a sense_n in_o the_o phrase_n of_o scripture_n a_o there_o be_v first_o a_o moral_a kind_n of_o draw_v it_o be_v a_o word_n use_v by_o divine_n but_o that_o i_o may_v speak_v to_o the_o capacity_n of_o all_o i_o will_v term_v it_o a_o outward_a or_o a_o external_a kind_n of_o draw_v which_o be_v this_o when_o a_o man_n by_o reason_n propound_v and_o good_a thing_n offer_v to_o the_o understanding_n and_o the_o will_n come_v thereby_o to_o have_v his_o mind_n enlighten_v and_o his_o will_n move_v and_o persuade_v to_o embrace_v and_o give_v entertainment_n to_o the_o thing_n offer_v and_o observe_v in_o this_o two_o thing_n first_o that_o it_o be_v only_o outward_a in_o regard_n of_o the_o subject_n second_o that_o it_o put_v nothing_o into_o the_o heart_n but_o stir_v up_o that_o which_o be_v in_o the_o heart_n already_o there_o be_v nothing_o but_o object_n offer_v and_o argument_n propound_v to_o persuade_v the_o soul_n to_o the_o love_n and_o like_n of_o the_o thing_n offer_v and_o this_o be_v usual_a in_o scripture_n and_o it_o be_v say_v to_o be_v a_o compel_a of_o a_o man_n it_o propound_v argument_n to_o the_o soul_n and_o so_o bring_v on_o the_o soul_n to_o the_o affect_v of_o any_o thing_n in_o the_o 16_o of_o the_o act_n 15._o it_o be_v say_v of_o lydia_n after_o she_o be_v convert_v her_o soul_n cleave_v to_o the_o holy_a man_n paul_n and_o she_o beseech_v they_o say_v if_o you_o have_v judge_v i_o to_o be_v faithful_a to_o the_o lord_n abide_v in_o my_o house_n and_o then_o say_v the_o text_n she_o constrain_v we_o she_o lay_v such_o hook_n upon_o they_o that_o she_o constrain_v they_o how_o be_v this_o she_o lay_v no_o violent_a hand_n upon_o they_o no_o but_o she_o use_v argument_n that_o be_v so_o forcible_a and_o reason_n that_o be_v so_o pithy_a that_o she_o persuade_v the_o apostle_n paul_n and_o those_o that_o be_v with_o he_o to_o yield_v unto_o her_o request_n if_o you_o have_v judge_v i_o faithful_a come_v into_o my_o house_n as_o if_o she_o have_v say_v if_o you_o believe_v that_o i_o have_v receive_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n by_o you_o if_o ever_o you_o mean_v to_o receive_v any_o comfort_n from_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n upon_o the_o work_n wrought_v in_o i_o by_o your_o mean_n if_o you_o think_v that_o my_o soul_n have_v be_v make_v partaker_n of_o any_o good_a from_o you_o come_v then_o in_o unto_o my_o house_n and_o abide_v with_o i_o now_o unless_o paul_n will_v have_v deny_v his_o own_o work_n which_o god_n by_o his_o grace_n have_v show_v he_o he_o must_v yield_v unto_o she_o and_o this_o landlord_n of_o i_o that_o fear_v bernard_v and_o terrify_v i_o and_o pluck_v i_o aside_o from_o this_o good_a course_n good_a lord_n revenge_v my_o blood_n at_o my_o landlord_n hand_n the_o servant_n he_o will_v say_v lord_n there_o be_v a_o gracious_a fellow_n servant_n live_v in_o the_o house_n with_o i_o and_o do_v i_o much_o good_a i_o love_v to_o hear_v thy_o word_n and_o pray_v and_o read_v and_o perform_v good_a duty_n but_o good_a lord_n it_o be_v the_o sharp_a reproof_n and_o bitter_a taunt_n of_o my_o master_n that_o discourage_v i_o and_o make_v i_o forsake_v my_o former_a course_n and_o therefore_o now_o i_o must_v go_v to_o hell_n but_o lord_n though_o i_o perish_v yet_o i_o beseech_v thou_o revenge_v my_o blood_n at_o my_o master_n hand_n many_o of_o you_o
