such_o a_o application_n however_o true_a it_o may_v be_v that_o a_o sufficient_a test_n or_o proof_n of_o the_o work_n can_v be_v make_v without_o the_o use_n of_o the_o plummet_n and_o rule_n about_o it_o in_o like_a manner_n though_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v of_o sovereign_a use_n and_o necessity_n for_o the_o measure_n of_o opinion_n and_o doctrine_n and_o for_o the_o discovery_n of_o what_o be_v straight_o and_o what_o crooked_a in_o they_o yet_o he_o that_o desire_v to_o reap_v the_o spiritual_a benefit_n and_o advantage_n of_o the_o usefulness_n of_o it_o in_o this_o kind_n must_v 1._o right_o understand_v the_o sense_n and_o mind_n of_o god_n in_o it_o and_o 2._o be_v dexterous_a and_o expert_a in_o make_v a_o due_a application_n of_o it_o be_v right_o understand_v to_o the_o doctrine_n or_o opinion_n â—he_v soundness_n or_o unsoundness_n whereof_o he_o desire_v to_o understand_v by_o it_o for_o 1._o it_o be_v not_o the_o letter_n or_o form_n of_o word_n as_o separate_v or_o consider_v apart_o from_o the_o spirit_n notion_n or_o sense_n of_o they_o that_o be_v the_o touchstone_n or_o rule_n of_o trial_n for_o doctrine_n yea_o the_o letter_n and_o word_n be_v only_a servant_n to_o the_o sense_n and_o notion_n which_o they_o contain_v and_o exhibit_v and_o be_v principal_o if_o not_o only_o deliver_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n unto_o man_n for_o this_o end_n that_o by_o they_o the_o sense_n mind_n and_o counsel_n of_o god_n in_o all_o the_o particularity_n of_o they_o which_o be_v hold_v forth_o in_o the_o scripture_n may_v be_v communicate_v and_o convey_v to_o the_o reason_n and_o understanding_n of_o men._n so_o that_o in_o case_n a_o man_n have_v the_o sense_n and_o mind_n of_o god_n upon_o the_o same_o term_n of_o certainty_n and_o knowledge_n without_o the_o letter_n on_o which_o he_o have_v it_o or_o may_v have_v it_o by_o mean_n of_o the_o letter_n he_o shall_v be_v as_o rich_o as_o complete_o qualify_v hereby_o to_o discern_v between_o doctrine_n as_o he_o now_o can_v be_v by_o the_o opportunity_n and_o advantage_n of_o the_o letter_n now_o if_o the_o scripture_n themselves_o be_v upon_o no_o other_o term_n nor_o in_o any_o other_o case_n serviceable_a or_o use_v full_a unto_o man_n for_o the_o trial_n of_o doctrine_n and_o opinion_n but_o only_o as_o and_o when_o they_o be_v true_o understand_v by_o they_o it_o clear_o follow_v that_o whatsoever_o be_v requisite_a and_o necessary_a to_o bring_v man_n to_o a_o true_a understanding_n of_o the_o scripture_n be_v of_o equal_a necessity_n for_o the_o distinguish_n of_o doctrine_n and_o to_o interpose_v or_o be_v make_v use_n of_o in_o all_o affair_n and_o concernment_n in_o religion_n if_o then_o the_o reason_n judgement_n and_o understanding_n of_o man_n must_v of_o necessity_n interpose_v act_n argue_v debate_n and_o consider_v before_o the_o true_a sense_n and_o mind_n of_o god_n in_o any_o scripture_n can_v be_v due_o apprehend_v understand_v and_o believe_v by_o man_n it_o be_v a_o plain_a case_n that_o these_o be_v to_o be_v use_v and_o to_o be_v interest_v in_o whatsoever_o be_v of_o any_o religious_a consequence_n or_o concernment_n to_o we_o that_o the_o mind_n of_o god_n in_o the_o scripture_n can_v be_v due_o apprehend_v receive_v or_o believe_v by_o man_n but_o by_o the_o act_n and_o work_v of_o their_o reason_n mind_n and_o understanding_n in_o order_n hereunto_o iâ—_n evident_a from_o hence_o viz._n because_o the_o mind_n of_o god_n can_v be_v thus_o apprehend_v or_o believe_v by_o man_n but_o by_o mean_n of_o a_o intellectual_a or_o rational_a difference_n taste_v or_o resent_v by_o they_o between_o this_o mind_n of_o he_o and_o all_o other_o mind_n meaning_n or_o sense_n whatsoever_o that_o may_v be_v suppose_v to_o lie_v or_o reside_v in_o the_o word_n for_o example_n if_o there_o be_v another_o sense_n to_o be_v give_v of_o such_o or_o such_o a_o passage_n of_o scripture_n either_o contrary_a unto_o or_o differ_v from_o that_o which_o i_o conceive_v to_o be_v the_o mind_n of_o god_n here_o which_o have_v the_o same_o rational_a or_o intellectual_a savour_n and_o taste_v with_o this_o that_o be_v which_o as_o well_o suit_n with_o the_o word_n agree_v with_o the_o context_n fall_v in_o with_o the_o scope_n and_o subject_a matter_n in_o hand_n be_v as_o accordable_a with_o scripture_n assertion_n elsewhere_o comport_v as_o clear_o with_o the_o unquestionable_a principle_n of_o reason_n and_o the_o like_a how_o be_v it_o possible_a for_o i_o in_o this_o case_n to_o conceive_v or_o believe_v especial_o with_o the_o certainty_n of_o faith_n that_o my_o sense_n be_v the_o mind_n of_o god_n and_o consequent_o the_o true_a sense_n of_o that_o place_n rather_o than_o that_o other_o which_o have_v all_o the_o same_o character_n symptom_n and_o argument_n of_o be_v the_o mind_n of_o god_n which_o mine_n have_v therefore_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v by_o the_o exercise_n and_o act_n of_o my_o reason_n and_o understanding_n and_o by_o the_o report_n which_o they_o make_v of_o their_o discovery_n in_o their_o inquiry_n that_o i_o come_v regular_o to_o conclude_v and_o to_o be_v satisfy_v that_o this_o be_v the_o mind_n of_o god_n in_o such_o or_o such_o a_o scripture_n and_o none_o other_o if_o it_o be_v here_o object_v and_o demand_v but_o be_v it_o meet_v or_o tolerable_a that_o the_o reason_n of_o man_n shall_v judge_v in_o the_o thing_n of_o god_n or_o that_o the_o understanding_n of_o man_n shall_v umpire_n and_o determine_v

next_o forego_v verse_n for_o together_o they_o make_v but_o one_o entire_a sentence_n be_v this_o and_o as_o moses_n lift_v up_o the_o serpent_n in_o the_o wilderness_n even_o so_o must_v the_o son_n of_o man_n be_v lift_v up_o that_o whosoever_o believe_v in_o he_o or_o every_o one_o believe_v in_o he_o shall_v not_o perish_v but_o have_v everlasting_a life_n so_o that_o the_o effect_n here_o mention_v and_o express_v be_v the_o salvation_n and_o everlasting_a happiness_n of_o what_o person_n or_o person_n soever_o of_o man_n or_o of_o mankind_n that_o shall_v believe_v in_o christ_n the_o to_o produce_v it_o for_o god_n love_n to_o the_o elect_n and_o his_o give_v his_o son_n for_o their_o salvation_n only_o be_v no_o sufficient_a cause_n to_o procure_v or_o produce_v the_o salvation_n of_o whosoever_o shall_v or_o shall_v believe_v on_o he_o for_o certain_a it_o be_v that_o there_o be_v salvation_n in_o christ_n for_o no_o more_o then_o for_o who_o god_n intend_v there_o shall_v be_v salvation_n in_o he_o if_o there_o be_v salvation_n in_o he_o for_o none_o but_o for_o the_o elect_a only_o then_o be_v it_o not_o true_a that_o whosoever_o believe_v in_o he_o shall_v be_v with_o the_o condemnation_n thereof_o or_o else_o with_o the_o three_o and_o last_o which_o as_o we_o shall_v hear_v present_o find_v in_o this_o scripture_n a_o love_n in_o god_n towards_o all_o their_o conscience_n with_o the_o guilt_n of_o such_o unchristian_a misdemeanour_n as_o these_o must_v needs_o carry_v a_o strong_a antipathy_n in_o it_o and_o be_v full_a of_o enmity_n against_o the_o inward_a peace_n and_o comfort_n of_o their_o dear_a soul_n and_o what_o doctrine_n light_o can_v there_o be_v of_o a_o more_o apparent_a and_o notorious_a tendency_n this_o way_n then_o that_o
