evil_n we_o can_v serve_v both_o god_n and_o mammon_n we_o must_v fly_v that_o which_o be_v evil_a and_o follow_v that_o which_o be_v good_a halt_a between_o god_n and_o ball_n will_v not_o serve_v we_o must_v worship_v the_o lord_n our_o god_n and_o he_o only_o must_v we_o serve_v if_o we_o be_v circumcise_v christ_n shall_v profit_v we_o nothing_o if_o there_o be_v any_o mixture_n of_o corruption_n in_o we_o our_o religion_n be_v in_o vain_a it_o be_v but_o the_o one_o of_o two_o either_o pure_a or_o impure_a if_o we_o will_v not_o be_v impure_a our_o care_n must_v be_v to_o be_v pure_a here_o then_o be_v meet_v withal_o such_o tolleration_n and_o indulgence_n as_o either_o in_o policy_n or_o upon_o any_o carnal_a reason_n we_o be_v wont_v to_o take_v and_o allow_v unto_o a_o little_a corruption_n a_o little_a yield_v unto_o the_o fashion_n of_o the_o world_n can_v do_v so_o much_o harm_n that_o too_o much_o strictness_n and_o preciseness_n be_v naught_o and_o that_o to_o stand_v so_o much_o upon_o purity_n and_o sincerity_n be_v but_o to_o make_v ourselves_o the_o talk_n and_o mock_v and_o byword_n of_o the_o people_n thus_o we_o will_v be_v moderater_n over_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o when_o he_o seem_v unto_o we_o to_o overreach_v we_o will_v bring_v he_o to_o the_o measure_n of_o our_o own_o scantling_n but_o belove_a let_v we_o not_o deceive_v ourselves_o god_n be_v not_o mock_v but_o what_o he_o require_v of_o we_o it_o stand_v we_o upon_o to_o take_v care_n of_o the_o performance_n of_o it_o the_o end_n of_o our_o call_n be_v that_o we_o they_o for_o their_o further_a growth_n and_o increase_n in_o the_o faith_n and_o truth_n of_o christ_n jesus_n this_o then_o belove_a shall_v teach_v you_o how_o when_o the_o lord_n bless_v you_o with_o a_o faithful_a pastor_n you_o shall_v be_v affect_v towards_o he_o and_o that_o be_v thus_o you_o shall_v even_o pray_v unto_o the_o lord_n for_o he_o to_o continue_v his_o life_n long_o darkness_n how_o great_a cause_n then_o shall_v you_o have_v to_o wail_v and_o lament_v and_o with_o jeremie_n to_o say_v how_o be_v the_o gold_n become_v so_o dim_a while_o then_o you_o have_v they_o they_o be_v the_o church_n of_o christ_n do_v not_o these_o whosoever_o they_o be_v brag_v of_o great_a title_n which_o nothing_o belong_v unto_o they_o whosoever_o they_o be_v that_o do_v so_o they_o have_v a_o mark_n of_o false_a teacher_n mark_v they_o therefore_o and_o take_v heed_n of_o they_o beware_v of_o they_o they_o resemble_v these_o of_o the_o concision_n many_o other_o note_n there_o be_v whereby_o false_a teacher_n may_v easy_o be_v descry_v and_o discern_v and_o which_o happy_o may_v be_v further_o gather_v even_o from_o this_o caveat_n of_o our_o apostle_n in_o this_o place_n but_o these_o be_v such_o as_o seem_v unto_o i_o most_o natural_o to_o offer_v themselves_o to_o be_v observe_v from_o these_o name_n wherewithal_o our_o apostle_n brand_v these_o false_a teacher_n yet_o will_v wind_v himself_o out_o of_o the_o number_n of_o false_a teacher_n yet_o will_v he_o not_o shift_v it_o but_o that_o he_o have_v some_o one_o mark_n of_o a_o false_a teacher_n but_o above_o all_o thing_n take_v heed_n and_o beware_v of_o they_o upon_o who_o the_o most_o of_o these_o or_o all_o these_o noâ—es_n do_v fall_v most_o just_o they_o will_v i_o know_v tell_v you_o that_o win_v the_o weak_a and_o gain_v they_o unto_o christ_n and_o both_o these_o march_v in_o their_o rank_n and_o fight_v well_o inasmuch_o as_o the_o weak_a faint_v not_o because_o he_o be_v weak_a nor_o he_o that_o be_v strong_a disdain_v not_o the_o weak_a because_o he_o be_v strong_a let_v no_o man_n therefore_o be_v discourage_v or_o faint_a because_o he_o be_v weak_a and_o unable_a to_o run_v with_o the_o foremost_a some_o in_o march_v forward_o must_v be_v before_o and_o some_o behind_o let_v not_o he_o that_o be_v behind_o faint_a but_o march_v forward_o let_v he_o march_v after_o the_o rule_n prescribe_v he_o by_o his_o general_n let_v his_o word_n be_v a_o lantern_n unto_o his_o foot_n and_o a_o light_n unto_o his_o path_n to_o direct_v his_o go_n in_o the_o way_n of_o his_o all_o holy_a conversation_n of_o their_o life_n here_o than_o first_o we_o have_v the_o apostle_n exhortation_n unto_o the_o philippian_n second_o certain_a reason_n to_o move_v they_o to_o hearken_v unto_o his_o exhortation_n the_o exhortation_n in_o these_o word_n brethren_n etc._n etc._n the_o reason_n in_o the_o verse_n follow_v unto_o the_o end_n of_o the_o chapter_n his_o exhortation_n consist_v of_o two_o part_n first_o that_o the_o philippian_n will_v be_v follower_n of_o he_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d neither_o do_v the_o word_n simple_o signify_v follower_n but_o that_o they_o will_v be_v follower_n together_o of_o he_o which_o may_v have_v a_o double_a meaning_n either_o â—hat_n they_o will_v all_o with_o one_o mind_n and_o with_o one_o heart_n joint_o together_o follow_v his_o example_n or_o else_o that_o as_o other_o church_n which_o he_o have_v plant_v in_o the_o faith_n follow_v his_o example_n so_o â—hey_n likewise_o together_o with_o they_o will_v follow_v his_o example_n howsoever_o that_o be_v mean_v it_o be_v clear_a that_o the_o apostle_n will_v have_v the_o philippian_n to_o look_v at_o he_o and_o as_o they_o have_v hear_v he_o to_o be_v mind_v and_o see_v he_o to_o walk_v so_o he_o will_v have_v â—hem_n to_o follow_v he_o in_o wholesomenesse_n of_o doctrine_n and_o integrity_n of_o life_n he_o know_v that_o example_n as_o ordinary_o they_o be_v wont_v to_o do_v with_o man_n may_v much_o prevail_v with_o they_o lest_o therefore_o they_o shall_v happy_o be_v draw_v away_o by_o the_o examâ—ples_n of_o the_o false_a teacher_n have_v it_o may_v be_v a_o great_a show_n of_o holiness_n in_o their_o life_n than_o they_o have_v soundness_n of_o judgement_n in_o the_o truth_n he_o draw_v they_o unto_o his_o own_o example_n and_o exhort_v they_o to_o be_v follower_n of_o he_o the_o second_o part_n of_o his_o exhortation_n be_v that_o they_o will_v follow_v the_o example_n of_o they_o that_o be_v like_a unto_o he_o be_v so_o mind_v towards_o the_o truth_n as_o he_o be_v and_o walk_v so_o in_o holy_a conversation_n of_o life_n as_o he_o do_v for_o unto_o the_o former_a part_n of_o his_o exhortation_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v follower_n of_o he_o there_o may_v happy_o exception_n be_v take_v that_o he_o be_v much_o absent_a from_o they_o that_o he_o be_v now_o in_o prison_n that_o it_o be_v hard_a to_o tie_v they_o to_o the_o imitation_n of_o one_o man_n to_o one_o man_n example_n he_o do_v not_o therefore_o tie_v they_o to_o the_o imitation_n of_o himself_o alone_o but_o have_v exhort_v they_o to_o doctrine_n be_v nothing_o but_o pure_a in_o who_o life_n be_v nothing_o but_o holy_a so_o that_o he_o allow_v they_o to_o follow_v the_o example_n of_o other_o than_o himself_o but_o with_o all_o he_o the_o sum_n then_o of_o his_o exhortation_n be_v as_o iâ—_n he_o have_v thus_o say_v brethren_n you_o have_v hear_v and_o know_v how_o i_o be_o mind_v towards_o the_o truth_n and_o how_o i_o follow_v hard_a towards_o perfection_n in_o my_o life_n be_v you_o follower_n of_o i_o in_o both_o these_o thing_n and_o walk_v so_o as_o you_o have_v i_o for_o a_o ensample_n neither_o do_v i_o tie_v you_o only_o to_o myself_o to_o follow_v i_o but_o look_v who_o they_o be_v that_o walk_n so_o show_v themselves_o a_o ensample_n of_o good_a work_n with_o uncorrupt_a doctrine_n with_o gravity_n integrity_n and_o with_o the_o wholesome_a word_n which_o can_v be_v reprove_v as_o you_o have_v i_o for_o a_o ensample_n and_o look_v diligent_o on_o they_o and_o follow_v they_o as_o they_o follow_v i_o and_o both_o of_o we_o christ_n which_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o these_o word_n in_o this_o exhortation_n let_v we_o now_o further_o see_v what_o note_n we_o may_v gather_v hence_o for_o our_o use_n and_o instruction_n the_o first_o thing_n which_o i_o note_n be_v that_o the_o apostle_n will_v have_v the_o philippian_n to_o follow_v the_o example_n not_o of_o whosoever_o each_o man_n in_o his_o private_a fancy_n do_v best_a like_v of_o but_o of_o he_o and_o of_o such_o other_o as_o walk_v so_o as_o they_o have_v he_o for_o a_o ensample_n whence_o i_o observe_v that_o in_o the_o course_n of_o our_o christian_a walk_v we_o be_v to_o follow_v the_o example_n of_o such_o as_o by_o their_o holy_a walk_a show_n plain_o that_o they_o have_v be_v bring_v up_o in_o the_o school_n of_o christ_n and_o that_o they_o be_v the_o faithful_a child_n of_o god_n a_o ordinary_a thing_n it_o be_v for_o man_n to_o look_v at_o the_o example_n of_o other_o and_o so_o to_o walk_v as_o they_o have_v other_o for_o example_n for_o the_o example_n of_o other_o go_v before_o we_o be_v a_o great_a inducement_n unto_o we_o to_o do_v the_o like_a whether_o the_o thing_n
tell_v they_o and_o what_o be_v that_o that_o they_o shall_v beware_v of_o dog_n of_o evil_a worker_n of_o the_o concision_n whereby_o the_o apostle_n show_v his_o own_o continual_a care_n over_o they_o and_o likewise_o the_o greatness_n of_o the_o danger_n by_o these_o enemy_n of_o the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n which_o cause_v he_o so_o often_o to_o tell_v they_o of_o they_o whence_o i_o scourge_v they_o in_o their_o synagogue_n of_o be_v baptize_v with_o his_o baptism_n he_o cease_v not_o to_o â—arne_v they_o to_o beware_v of_o the_o scribe_n and_o pharisy_n to_o beware_v of_o the_o leaven_n of_o the_o pharisy_n to_o take_v heed_n and_o beware_v of_o coâ—etousnes_n our_o holy_a apostle_n likewise_o as_o a_o follower_n of_o christ_n profess_v unto_o the_o ephesian_n 20.31_o aâ—t_fw-la 20.31_o that_o he_o cease_v not_o to_o warn_v every_o one_o both_o night_n and_o day_n with_o tear_n of_o grievous_a wolf_n which_o after_o his_o departure_n will_v enter_v in_o among_o be_v but_o a_o small_a matter_n and_o that_o there_o need_v not_o half_a so_o much_o ado_n about_o it_o but_o persuade_v yourselves_o that_o it_o much_o concern_v you_o to_o redress_v it_o and_o whether_o it_o be_v for_o any_o manner_n of_o thing_n to_o be_v reform_v or_o for_o any_o kind_n of_o person_n to_o be_v avoid_v defer_v not_o too_o long_o to_o hearken_v to_o that_o which_o be_v tell_v so_o often_o again_o this_o often_o tell_v you_o of_o the_o same_o thing_n to_o be_v reform_v or_o avoid_v may_v put_v you_o in_o mind_n of_o that_o natural_a corruption_n which_o hang_v so_o fast_o on_o you_o much_o ado_n to_o bring_v we_o to_o the_o mortification_n of_o the_o old_a man_n and_o though_o we_o be_v tell_v again_o and_o again_o of_o such_o sin_n as_o hold_v we_o captive_a at_o their_o own_o pleasure_n yet_o can_v we_o be_v content_a to_o put_v of_o from_o day_n to_o day_n and_o with_o the_o sluggard_n to_o say_v yet_o a_o little_a sleep_n a_o little_a slumber_n 6.10_o 〈◊〉_d 6.10_o a_o little_a fold_n of_o the_o hand_n to_o sleep_v but_o let_v we_o know_v that_o this_o be_v a_o part_n of_o natural_a corruption_n to_o stand_v in_o need_n so_o often_o to_o be_v tell_v or_o not_o to_o hearken_v when_o we_o be_v tell_v so_o often_o let_v we_o therefore_o shake_v of_o this_o corruption_n and_o either_o let_v we_o not_o need_v so_o often_o to_o be_v tell_v of_o any_o thing_n or_o at_o least_o when_o we_o be_v so_o often_o tell_v let_v we_o hearken_v and_o obey_v and_o avoid_v or_o reform_v whatsoever_o it_o be_v that_o we_o be_v warn_v and_o admonish_v of_o for_o as_o it_o be_v the_o pastor_n duty_n to_o tell_v we_o of_o thing_n to_o be_v reform_v or_o avoid_v so_o be_v it_o our_o duty_n to_o hearken_v and_o obey_v when_o we_o be_v tell_v and_o this_o duty_n to_o tell_v we_o often_o of_o such_o thing_n be_v impose_v upon_o the_o pastor_n because_o of_o the_o negligent_a performance_n of_o our_o duty_n to_o hearken_v and_o obey_v when_o we_o be_v tell_v let_v we_o therefore_o at_o all_o time_n give_v all_o diligence_n to_o hearken_v unto_o the_o thing_n that_o belong_v unto_o our_o peace_n and_o to_o obey_v from_o the_o heart_n that_o form_n of_o doctrine_n whereunto_o we_o be_v deliver_v to_o conform_v ourselves_o according_a unto_o it_o the_o second_o thing_n which_o i_o note_n be_v that_o the_o apostle_n say_v that_o now_o at_o the_o
