apostle_n caution_n as_o well_o as_o our_o persuasion_n ridiculous_a it_o will_v be_v out_o of_o fear_n that_o any_o man_n shall_v occasion_v one_o to_o perish_v for_o who_o christ_n die_v see_v whatever_o sin_n such_o a_o one_o can_v commit_v be_v pay_v for_o and_o discharge_v beforehand_o so_o that_o i_o say_v those_o passage_n in_o rom._n 14.15_o and_o 1_o cor._n 8.11_o will_v be_v as_o vain_a as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v take_v heed_n lest_o you_o annihilate_v christ_n or_o swallow_v he_o up_o through_o sorrow_n in_o the_o mid_n of_o all_o his_o glory_n such_o kind_n of_o vain_a intimation_n be_v not_o to_o be_v fix_v on_o the_o apostle_n doctrine_n but_o if_o it_o be_v true_a indeed_o that_o there_o the_o apostle_n suppose_v viz._n that_o a_o man_n for_o who_o christ_n die_v have_v so_o full_o satisfy_v that_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o they_o be_v due_a debt_n and_o god_n unjust_a in_o case_n they_o for_o they_o perish_v we_o grant_v he_o have_v satisfy_v to_o the_o utmost_a of_o that_o obligation_n that_o he_o undertake_v and_o so_o remove_v the_o sentence_n of_o death_n from_o off_o all_o that_o the_o benefit_n of_o his_o righteousness_n be_v to_o all_o to_o way_n of_o opposition_n to_o we_o that_o expression_n reach_v to_o all_o man_n in_o the_o world_n except_o it_o be_v bound_v with_o some_o limitation_n as_o only_o some_o of_o all_o sort_n live_v in_o all_o place_n and_o then_o we_o challenge_v he_o to_o show_v we_o the_o word_n whole_a world_n so_o take_v in_o any_o divine_a expression_n i_o shall_v view_v his_o more_o serious_a reply_n consist_v of_o a_o endeavour_n to_o do_v these_o three_o thing_n 1._o clear_v it_o to_o who_o the_o apostle_n write_v 2._o what_o his_o purpose_n and_o aim_v in_o this_o place_n be_v 3._o what_o the_o meaning_n of_o christ_n be_v a_o propitiation_n be_v and_o what_o he_o mean_v by_o the_o whole_a world_n 1._o for_o the_o first_o he_o say_v this_o epistle_n be_v peculiar_o direct_v to_o the_o jew_n but_o he_o hold_v in_o his_o proof_n of_o it_o for_o 1._o he_o confess_v he_o have_v nothing_o in_o the_o epistle_n that_o nominate_v they_o to_o who_o he_o write_v it_o to_o make_v the_o assertion_n infallible_o true_a de_fw-fr fide_fw-la and_o so_o what_o he_o can_v say_v be_v no_o matter_n of_o faith_n nor_o sufficient_a ground_n of_o limit_v what_o what_o be_v evident_o propound_v in_o it_o to_o our_o faith_n only_o he_o bring_v probability_n as_o he_o call_v they_o that_o it_o be_v intend_v to_o the_o jew_n to_o they_o only_o he_o must_v mean_v or_o he_o say_v nothing_o to_o the_o purpose_n they_o be_v these_o four_o 1._o that_o john_n be_v one_o of_o they_o that_o be_v to_o preach_v to_o the_o circumcision_n with_o peter_n and_o james_n now_o they_o write_v to_o the_o jew_n ergo_fw-la john_n also_o i_o answer_v whether_o by_o the_o twelve_o tribe_n and_o the_o stranger_n scatter_v abroad_o james_n and_o peter_n mean_v the_o jew_n only_o be_v questionable_a see_v the_o the_o hebrew_n however_o that_o he_o preach_v often_o to_o they_o be_v manifest_a act_v 17._o etc._n etc._n so_o john_n though_o first_o he_o be_v to_o preach_v to_o the_o jew_n yet_o do_v take_v care_n of_o the_o seven_o asian_a church_n and_o live_v after_o all_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o apostle_n take_v care_n of_o all_o the_o church_n as_o a_o apostle_n and_o its_o most_o probable_a that_o he_o write_v to_o they_o all_o too_o his_o epistle_n be_v catholic_a that_o be_v universal_a and_o without_o any_o particular_a limitation_n and_o inscription_n to_o any_o church_n or_o any_o sort_n of_o believer_n more_o than_o they_o of_o james_n and_o peter_n be_v yea_o he_o inscribe_v it_o to_o believer_n indefinite_o not_o to_o jew-believer_n chap._n 5.13_o these_o thing_n have_v i_o write_v of_o the_o epistle_n against_o his_o conceit_n then_o for_o it_o but_o 2._o he_o tell_v we_o john_n frequent_o intimate_v that_o those_o he_o write_v to_o receive_v the_o word_n from_o the_o beginning_n now_o the_o jew_n have_v it_o first_o preach_v to_o they_o he_o instance_n chap._n 2._o ver_fw-la 7._o that_o commandment_n which_o you_o hear_v from_o the_o beginning_n the_o word_n be_v mr._n owen_n shall_v do_v well_o to_o find_v any_o one_o place_n in_o all_o the_o scripture_n where_o the_o word_n world_n special_o speak_v of_o with_o distinction_n from_o believer_n or_o any_o sort_n or_o nation_n signify_v another_o sort_n or_o kind_n of_o believer_n so_o that_o that_o be_v vain_a too_o his_o last_o be_v his_o mention_v and_o give_v caution_n of_o deceiver_n seducer_n antichrist_n etc._n etc._n as_o if_o any_o man_n that_o mind_v the_o scripture_n can_v be_v ignorant_a that_o these_o kind_n of_o people_n do_v pester_v also_o the_o gentile_a church_n as_o the_o galathian_o corinthian_n church_n of_o asia_n etc._n etc._n and_o that_o the_o apostle_n paul_n be_v as_o circumspect_a of_o the_o gentile_a church_n and_o as_o careful_a to_o preserve_v they_o from_o these_o seducer_n as_o possible_o can_v be_v and_o so_o that_o john_n live_v after_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o apostle_n need_v as_o much_o to_o war_n and_o watch_v over_o they_o as_o a_o other_o church_n nay_o he_o that_o shall_v equal_o weigh_v thing_n will_v say_v there_o be_v more_o need_n for_o they_o than_o other_o because_o they_o receive_v the_o gospel_n from_o the_o jew_n the_o deceiver_n of_o the_o jew_n have_v more_o influence_n upon_o they_o then_o upon_o their_o own_o church_n for_o they_o be_v apt_a to_o question_v paul_n doctrine_n upon_o this_o ground_n that_o other_o of_o the_o jew_n that_o pretend_a authority_n from_o the_o apostle_n teach_v otherwise_o beside_o that_o the_o great_a stumble_v of_o the_o false_a apostle_n be_v in_o the_o gentile_a church_n that_o they_o want_v circumcision_n which_o the_o jewish_a church_n want_v not_o to_o say_v nothing_o that_o we_o find_v they_o trouble_v the_o gentile_n often_o but_o never_o that_o they_o trouble_v with_o
