be_v perfect_a thorough_o furnish_v unto_o all_o good_a work_n all_o this_o be_v contain_v in_o they_o in_o plain_a and_o easy_a language_n and_o who_o can_v desire_v more_o what_o be_v necessary_a there_o be_v no_o necessity_n of_o our_o understanding_n they_o for_o he_o that_o inspire_v the_o holy_a pen_n can_v without_o the_o great_a impiety_n be_v argue_v of_o act_v negligent_o nor_o be_v there_o the_o least_o danger_n in_o such_o humble_a ignorance_n but_o there_o be_v certain_o in_o a_o presumptuous_a curiosity_n and_o seek_v after_o the_o tree_n of_o knowledge_n which_o god_n have_v prohibit_v by_o plant_v the_o wall_n of_o obscurity_n about_o it_o and_o if_o we_o will_v with_o the_o bethshemite_n be_v peep_v into_o the_o ark_n we_o may_v expect_v to_o be_v punish_v just_o by_o wrest_v the_o scripture_n to_o our_o own_o damnation_n and_o much_o more_o if_o be_v unlearned_a and_o private_a man_n we_o undertake_v to_o give_v public_a interpretation_n and_o determination_n different_a from_o both_o the_o catholic_a faith_n and_o church_n 1.20_o 2_o pet._n 1.20_o for_o no_o scripture_n be_v of_o private_a interpretation_n and_o that_o this_o be_v the_o danger_n be_v as_o evident_a as_o the_o punishment_n of_o it_o be_v certain_a for_o here_o be_v the_o spring_n head_n of_o error_n and_o heresy_n which_o always_o take_v their_o original_a from_o the_o transgression_n of_o this_o caution_n for_o when_o man_n will_v leave_v the_o plain_a and_o beat_a path_n the_o easy_a way_n to_o happiness_n here_o and_o heaven_n hereafter_o by_o faith_n and_o obedience_n to_o seek_v for_o it_o in_o their_o own_o wisdom_n and_o nicety_n it_o be_v no_o wonder_n if_o they_o wander_v out_o of_o the_o way_n of_o truth_n when_o they_o permit_v themselves_o to_o be_v lead_v by_o their_o private_a opinion_n and_o interpretation_n it_o be_v the_o blind_a lead_v the_o blind_a in_o the_o darkness_n of_o midnight_n and_o no_o wonder_n then_o if_o at_o last_o they_o stumble_v and_o fall_v into_o the_o blackness_n of_o eternal_a darkness_n for_o self-love_n be_v a_o very_a blind_a guide_n and_o self_n conceit_n a_o worse_o and_o they_o must_v needs_o be_v in_o darkness_n to_o who_o god_n deny_v the_o light_n of_o the_o spirit_n which_o he_o do_v in_o all_o obscure_a place_n of_o scripture_n and_o if_o as_o he_o tell_v the_o jew_n man_n therefore_o err_v not_o know_v the_o scripture_n they_o must_v needs_o err_v who_o will_v know_v more_o than_o he_o will_v let_v they_o to_o confirm_v the_o truth_n of_o this_o doctrine_n and_o that_o the_o holy_a canon_n be_v as_o the_o word_n import_v a_o rule_n not_o only_o of_o our_o action_n but_o our_o faith_n i_o will_v desire_v any_o person_n to_o give_v i_o a_o reason_n why_o he_o believe_v the_o three_o famous_a creed_n which_o contain_v the_o sum_n and_o substance_n of_o our_o christian_a faith_n there_o can_v be_v but_o these_o three_o reason_n first_o because_o he_o immediate_o by_o divine_a revelation_n be_v assure_v of_o his_o faith_n or_o second_o because_o he_o be_v persuade_v by_o some_o person_n or_o person_n to_o believe_v or_o three_o because_o he_o find_v the_o article_n there_o mention_v either_o in_o plain_a word_n or_o evident_a consequence_n in_o scripture_n which_o for_o good_a reason_n he_o believe_v to_o be_v the_o dictate_v of_o divine_o inspire_v penman_n the_o first_o all_o sober_a man_n reject_v as_o lead_v direct_o to_o enthusiasm_n and_o under_o pretence_n of_o heavenly_a revelation_n to_o introduce_v hellish_a impiety_n and_o doctrine_n of_o devil_n who_o have_v a_o power_n to_o transform_v themselves_o into_o angel_n of_o light_n may_v take_v that_o advantage_n to_o impose_v upon_o strong_a fancy_n and_o weak_a judgement_n for_o the_o second_o a_o man_n will_v thus_o argue_v why_o shall_v i_o believe_v this_o or_o these_o man_n since_o all_o man_n be_v fallible_a and_o they_o who_o may_v be_v deceive_v may_v therefore_o deceive_v and_o if_o i_o believe_v this_o man_n why_o not_o another_o why_o not_o mahomet_n who_o pretend_v to_o the_o holy_a ghost_n as_o much_o as_o they_o and_o therefore_o three_o faith_n must_v be_v resolve_v into_o the_o first_o principle_n of_o it_o which_o be_v god_n truth_n and_o infallibility_n and_o that_o word_n which_o i_o believe_v to_o be_v his_o and_o therefore_o more_o credible_a than_o the_o word_n of_o any_o or_o all_o men._n thus_o be_v faith_n first_o propagate_v in_o the_o world_n and_o thus_o it_o must_v be_v increase_v for_o the_o multitude_n to_o who_o the_o apostle_n preach_v throughout_o the_o world_n do_v not_o believe_v st._n peter_n or_o st._n paul_n that_o preach_v jesus_n and_o the_o resurrection_n righteousness_n temperance_n and_o judgement_n to_o come_v but_o see_v the_o miracle_n which_o they_o do_v they_o believe_v that_o this_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o that_o jesus_n be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n agreeable_a to_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o prophet_n in_o the_o old_a testament_n concern_v the_o messiah_n this_o method_n our_o lord_n make_v use_v of_o with_o his_o disciple_n 24.5.4_o luke_n 24.5.4_o then_o open_v he_o their_o understanding_n that_o they_o may_v understand_v the_o scripture_n that_o all_o thing_n must_v be_v fulfil_v which_o be_v write_v in_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n and_o in_o the_o prophet_n and_o in_o the_o psalm_n concern_v he_o and_o he_o say_v unto_o they_o thus_o it_o be_v write_v and_o thus_o it_o behove_v christ_n to_o suffer_v and_o to_o rise_v again_o the_o three_o day_n from_o the_o dead_a and_o that_o repentance_n and_o remission_n of_o sin_n shall_v be_v preach_v in_o his_o name_n among_o all_o nation_n begin_v at_o jerusalem_n this_o doctrine_n of_o faith_n the_o apostle_n believe_v this_o they_o preach_v not_o as_o their_o own_o but_o the_o faith_n of_o christ_n this_o they_o commit_v to_o write_v and_o deliver_v to_o the_o christian_n as_o the_o rule_n of_o their_o faith_n
