the_o earth_n therefore_o thou_o must_v not_o think_v to_o preach_v to_o these_o only_a which_o be_v to_o be_v wish_v but_o that_o can_v not_o be_v because_o they_o be_v mix_v with_o the_o ungodly_a multitude_n likewise_o when_o thou_o be_v call_v to_o be_v a_o civil_a magistrate_n or_o a_o governor_n of_o a_o household_n thou_o shall_v not_o find_v all_o to_o be_v precious_a stone_n gold_n or_o silver_n but_o let_v it_o suffice_v thou_o if_o in_o a_o whole_a multitude_n as_o it_o chance_v in_o mine_n thou_o find_v but_o one_o vein_n of_o silver_n or_o amongst_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o magistrate_n better_o instruct_v of_o their_o duty_n and_o office_n satan_n rage_v as_o a_o strong_a arm_a man_n keep_v his_o house_n when_o a_o strong_a come_v be_v strong_a therefore_o in_o these_o tentation_n and_o think_v that_o as_o these_o thing_n be_v not_o begin_v by_o the_o power_n of_o satan_n so_o though_o he_o rage_n against_o the_o same_o never_o so_o much_o thou_o must_v not_o be_v discourage_v or_o slack_v the_o lord_n business_n but_o first_o serve_v the_o lord_n and_o then_o thy_o brethren_n and_o neighbour_n for_o their_o sake_n the_o church_n must_v be_v instruct_v the_o common_a wealth_n govern_v not_o for_o the_o world_n sake_n and_o the_o ungodly_a multitude_n for_o it_o be_v not_o worthy_a that_o a_o thief_n shall_v be_v hang_v a_o adulterer_n or_o murderer_n put_v to_o death_n but_o the_o lord_n in_o heaven_n and_o our_o brethren_n &_o neighbour_n in_o earth_n be_v worthy_a of_o this_o service_n as_o he_o add_v in_o the_o verse_n follow_v thus_o i_o add_v hereunto_o our_o god_n because_o god_n have_v choose_v this_o nation_n to_o be_v as_o his_o own_o peculiar_a people_n and_o this_o also_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o david_n so_o love_v they_o and_o be_v not_o discomfort_a with_o these_o trouble_n which_o he_o for_o their_o sake_n sustain_v both_o in_o the_o church_n and_o in_o the_o civil_a government_n but_o be_v choose_v to_o be_v a_o king_n and_o a_o prophet_n to_o this_o people_n he_o constant_o endure_v all_o trouble_n and_o herewithal_o comfort_v himself_o that_o first_o he_o serve_v the_o lord_n his_o god_n &_o then_o his_o brethren_n and_o be_v not_o a_o unprofitable_a servant_n but_o fruitful_a unto_o god_n that_o he_o may_v be_v glorify_v and_o to_o his_o neighbour_n and_o brother_n that_o he_o may_v be_v save_v let_v we_o likewise_o pray_v for_o the_o welfare_n of_o our_o brethren_n and_o for_o the_o house_n of_o the_o lord_n with_o david_n who_o as_o this_o psalm_n show_v do_v well_o understand_v the_o power_n church_n be_v oppress_v with_o violence_n and_o tyranny_n when_o the_o name_n of_o god_n be_v profane_v with_o wicked_a doctrine_n or_o if_o there_o be_v any_o thing_n else_o that_o either_o hinder_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n or_o the_o salvation_n of_o soul_n these_o peril_n can_v not_o well_o be_v utter_v in_o prayer_n and_o therefore_o the_o prayer_n of_o the_o faithful_a be_v then_o most_o effectuous_a when_o with_o grief_n of_o heart_n and_o affliction_n of_o spirit_n they_o see_v

and_o commendation_n of_o faith_n that_o it_o look_v only_o towards_o the_o healthful_a and_o comfortable_a mountain_n which_o be_v in_o jerusalem_n &_o refuse_v the_o succour_n of_o all_o other_o jerusalem_n seek_v relief_n and_o succour_n in_o other_o mountain_n in_o like_a manner_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o romish_a antichrist_n there_o be_v infinite_a feet_n and_o swarm_n of_o monk_n and_o other_o superstitious_a votary_n some_o hold_v of_o augustine_n some_o of_o benedict_n some_o of_o francisce_n etc_n etc_n which_o by_o their_o vow_n and_o monastical_a life_n think_v to_o obtain_v the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n hope_v also_o by_o these_o comfort_n to_o overcome_v the_o terror_n of_o god_n wrath_n &_o heal_v the_o wound_n of_o conscience_n and_o this_o be_v always_o the_o inclination_n of_o man_n nature_n to_o follow_v his_o own_o way_n and_o to_o forsake_v the_o way_n of_o the_o lord_n therefore_o david_n say_v some_o forsake_v the_o temple_n &_o abhor_v the_o mount_n zion_n but_o i_o abide_v in_o the_o simple_a way_n of_o faith_n &_o true_a religion_n which_o be_v the_o healthful_a hill_n that_o the_o lord_n himself_o have_v appoint_v in_o that_o he_o call_v it_o the_o healthful_a hill_n or_o the_o hill_n from_o whence_o help_n and_o succour_n come_v he_o reject_v and_o condemn_v all_o other_o hill_n which_o have_v a_o show_n of_o help_n and_o succour_v such_o i_o mean_v as_o be_v visible_o wrought_v in_o the_o service_n and_o honour_n do_v to_o the_o idol_n but_o true_a help_n they_o give_v none_o so_o the_o jew_n say_v that_o baal_n show_v more_o present_a help_n in_o the_o temple_n then_o god_n so_o they_o cry_v in_o jeremy_n we_o will_v do_v sacrifice_n to_o the_o queen_n of_o heaven_n but_o thy_o commandment_n we_o will_v not_o do_v for_o since_o we_o leave_v to_o do_v sacrifice_n to_o the_o queen_n of_o heaven_n the_o sword_n and_o famine_n have_v consume_v we_o and_o thus_o forsake_v the_o temple_n and_o the_o true_a also_o seek_v their_o favour_n and_o they_o shall_v help_v i_o but_o what_o say_v the_o scripture_n the_o god_n of_o syria_n be_v the_o destruction_n both_o of_o they_o and_o of_o all_o israel_n and_o this_o be_v the_o end_n of_o all_o such_o false_a trust_n so_o do_v mammon_n likewise_o help_v his_o worshipper_n for_o he_o be_v a_o great_a god_n and_o bring_v to_o they_o liberty_n joy_n and_o comfort_n he_o lift_v they_o up_o to_o wealth_n and_o dignity_n he_o make_v they_o to_o swell_v with_o pride_n and_o glory_n comfort_n but_o how_o long_o for_o the_o time_n of_o this_o frail_a &_o brickle_a life_n but_o in_o death_n he_o do_v not_o only_o forsake_v they_o but_o drive_v they_o down_o to_o the_o deep_a pit_n of_o hell_n therefore_o whatsoever_o worldly_a and_o visible_a comfort_n and_o delight_n the_o heart_n of_o man_n can_v here_o desire_v or_o enjoy_v he_o find_v they_o uncertain_a and_o short_o must_v forsake_v they_o and_o yet_o withal_o they_o bring_v unspeakable_a torment_n and_o affliction_n of_o mind_n and_o lead_v man_n into_o such_o blindness_n that_o they_o have_v no_o regard_n of_o god_n at_o all_o who_o do_v not_o delight_v his_o true_a worshipper_n with_o vain_a pleasure_n of_o this_o world_n which_o endure_v but_o a_o moment_n but_o replenish_v they_o with_o everlasting_a joy_n for_o thus_o he_o say_v i_o will_v see_v you_o again_o and_o your_o forth_o unto_o we_o invisible_a help_n and_o yet_o to_o be_v look_v for_o as_o certain_a and_o unfallible_a and_o although_o we_o think_v it_o long_o before_o they_o come_v yet_o will_v they_o come_v when_o it_o shall_v be_v most_o to_o our_o joy_n &_o comfort_n and_o this_o be_v it_o that_o these_o word_n of_o the_o prophet_n do_v here_o express_v i_o lift_v up_o my_o eye_n to_o the_o hill_n from_o whence_o my_o help_n come_v here_o he_o show_v himself_o to_o be_v destitute_a of_o help_n and_o succour_n and_o yet_o in_o sure_a hope_n and_o expectation_n thereof_o he_o look_v up_o unto_o those_o hill_n and_o hope_v for_o invisible_a comfort_n in_o like_a manner_n must_v we_o do_v also_o i_o be_o in_o distress_n or_o affliction_n of_o body_n or_o mind_n i_o be_o in_o necessity_n and_o and_o our_o brethren_n when_o satan_n begin_v to_o rage_n when_o trouble_n arise_v when_o for_o the_o word_n sake_n we_o be_v hate_v spoil_v persecute_a and_o put_v to_o death_n in_o these_o danger_n whether_o shall_v we_o run_v calamity_n even_o this_o must_v be_v our_o refuge_n to_o say_v and_o confess_v that_o god_n be_v great_a than_o all_o our_o misery_n and_o albeit_o we_o perish_v or_o watch_v when_o we_o sleep_v if_o he_o be_v not_o careful_a for_o we_o when_o we_o be_v careless_a we_o shall_v perish_v every_o moment_n we_o shall_v lose_v our_o tongue_n our_o eye_n our_o ear_n our_o hand_n our_o foot_n and_o our_o life_n also_o and_o for_o as_o much_o as_o these_o thing_n do_v many_o time_n chance_n and_o when_o we_o little_a doubt_n or_o think_v thereof_o our_o wife_n our_o child_n or_o our_o friend_n die_v or_o else_o fall_v into_o some_o great_a danger_n it_o be_v a_o minifest_z token_n that_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o devil_n be_v the_o kingdom_n of_o death_n and_o sin_n in_o this_o kingdom_n because_o we_o live_v while_o we_o be_v in_o this_o world_n hereof_o it_o come_v that_o we_o often_o time_n offend_v and_o fall_v into_o many_o sin_n thus_o david_n consist_v in_o teach_v of_o the_o word_n &_o hear_n of_o god_n when_o he_o speak_v unto_o we_o by_o his_o witness_n and_o therefore_o the_o devil_n desire_v nothing_o so_o much_o as_o to_o hinder_v the_o preach_v &_o hear_v of_o the_o word_n for_o this_o cause_n he_o raise_v up_o as_o you_o hear_v in_o the_o first_o psalm_n lie_v lip_n and_o deceitful_a tongue_n he_o stir_v up_o the_o world_n with_o sword_n and_o power_n to_o oppress_v the_o godly_a and_o even_o in_o ourselves_o he_o go_v about_o to_o deface_v this_o kind_n of_o service_n and_o worship_n of_o god_n by_o our_o devilish_a contempt_n and_o loathe_n of_o the_o same_o but_o contrariwise_o to_o build_v church_n and_o gorgeous_o to_o deck_v they_o for_o the_o maintenance_n of_o mass_n oblation_n false_a worship_n and_o idolatry_n all_o this_o he_o can_v abide_v well_o enough_o for_o by_o these_o thing_n he_o know_v that_o his_o strength_n be_v not_o diminish_v nor_o his_o power_n weaken_v but_o when_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v preach_v concern_v remission_n of_o sin_n the_o righteousness_n that_o come_v by_o christ_n and_o life_n everlasting_a this_o doctrine_n destroy_v his_o kingdom_n this_o cause_v he_o to_o rage_n and_o to_o seek_v by_o all_o mean_v possible_a how_o he_o may_v hinder_v the_o course_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o other_o part_n of_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n be_v to_o praise_v the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n word_n this_o david_n make_v the_o second_o kind_n of_o worship_n when_o he_o commend_v his_o jerusalem_n and_o here_o again_o note_v that_o he_o speak_v nothing_o of_o the_o sacrifice_n of_o the_o law_n for_o albeit_o he_o do_v not_o discommend_v they_o as_o i_o say_v before_o yet_o he_o reckon_v they_o but_o as_o chaff_n in_o comparison_n of_o the_o word_n and_o the_o fruit_n which_o follow_v thereof_o which_o be_v thank_n give_v and_o if_o he_o have_v name_v the_o sley_a of_o sacrifice_n every_o man_n have_v not_o be_v able_a to_o serve_v god_n with_o that_o kind_n of_o worship_n therefore_o he_o require_v nothing_o else_o but_o that_o which_o they_o be_v able_a to_o do_v without_o great_a charge_n which_o yet_o notwithstanding_o very_o few_o do_v he_o do_v not_o condemn_v the_o build_n of_o the_o temple_n which_o afterward_o shall_v be_v do_v by_o his_o son_n solomon_n but_o do_v earnest_o desire_v the_o same_o and_o the_o cause_n why_o he_o do_v desire_v it_o here_o you_o see_v namely_o that_o first_o the_o name_n of_o god_n may_v there_o be_v preach_v and_o then_o that_o god_n may_v there_o accept_v the_o prayer_n of_o his_o people_n with_o praise_n and_o thank_n give_v for_o his_o benefit_n receive_v hitherto_o we_o have_v hear_v how_o the_o prophet_n extol_v and_o magnify_v the_o incomparable_a gift_n &_o benefit_n of_o god_n the_o word_n i_o mean_v with_o thank_n and_o praise_n unto_o god_n for_o the_o same_o for_o that_o be_v a_o benefit_n and_o blessing_n in_o deed_n which_o be_v know_v and_o acknowledge_v so_o to_o be_v all_o the_o world_n as_o we_o see_v be_v full_a &_o even_o glut_v with_o the_o benefit_n of_o god_n notwithstanding_o it_o remain_v still_o in_o such_o blindness_n that_o it_o know_v they_o not_o to_o be_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o it_o take_v and_o use_v they_o not_o otherwise_o then_o hog_n do_v their_o draff_n &_o swill_n but_o david_n see_v that_o god_n have_v give_v he_o a_o kingdom_n wherein_o the_o pure_a word_n of_o god_n and_o true_a religion_n flourish_v this_o great_a benefit_n he_o acknowledge_v and_o therefore_o he_o so_o rejoice_v and_o magnify_v his_o jerusalem_n as_o a_o place_n appoint_v by_o the_o lords_z own_o mouth_n where_o the_o people_n may_v come_v together_o to_o hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o to_o give_v thanks_n unto_o god_n for_o to_o hear_v he_o will_v not_o hear_v and_o yet_o we_o see_v that_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o common_a than_o this_o impiety_n this_o horrible_a contempt_n this_o devilish_a loathe_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n amongst_o all_o sort_n of_o man_n the_o cause_n be_v for_o that_o we_o hear_v not_o the_o lord_n speak_v now_o unto_o we_o in_o his_o majesty_n as_o he_o speak_v in_o the_o mount_v sinai_n at_o what_o time_n the_o people_n be_v astonish_v &_o tremble_v at_o the_o terrible_a voice_n of_o the_o lord_n &_o yet_o how_o soon_o have_v they_o forget_v the_o lord_n and_o murmur_v both_o against_o the_o lord_n and_o against_o moses_n thus_o in_o his_o majesty_n he_o speak_v no_o more_o but_o he_o speak_v now_o unto_o we_o by_o man_n and_o therefore_o he_o be_v contemn_v horrible_a it_o be_v that_o sodom_n be_v burn_v up_o with_o fire_n from_o heaven_n horrible_a it_o be_v also_o that_o the_o whole_a world_n be_v destroy_v with_o water_n moreover_o the_o daily_a example_n of_o the_o word_n be_v deliver_v unto_o we_o to_o this_o end_n that_o we_o shall_v continual_o exercise_v ourselves_o therein_o foâ—_n without_o this_o exercise_n we_o wax_v dull_a and_o forget_v ourselves_o we_o see_v into_o what_o great_a danger_n man_n daily_o fall_v and_o whereof_o else_o come_v this_o but_o because_o they_o be_v secure_a they_o pray_v not_o they_o hear_v not_o the_o we_o see_v that_o prayer_n pertain_v to_o the_o people_n of_o christ_n to_o the_o redeem_a and_o sanctify_a for_o the_o unbeliever_n and_o wicked_a do_v not_o pray_v verse_n 5._o they_o that_o sow_n in_o tear_n shall_v reap_v in_o joy_n among_o other_o thing_n which_o proper_o pertain_v to_o the_o redeem_v this_o also_o be_v one_o that_o they_o be_v subject_a to_o many_o temptation_n according_a to_o the_o say_n of_o saint_n peter_n by_o many_o tribulation_n we_o must_v enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n therefore_o the_o profession_n of_o a_o christian_a man_n be_v right_o call_v world_n it_o can_v not_o be_v avoid_v but_o that_o satan_n will_v lay_v a_o cross_n upon_o thou_o and_o vex_v thou_o how_o much_o more_o than_o will_v he_o so_o do_v when_o thou_o must_v fight_v may_v attain_v to_o this_o doctrine_n wherein_o he_o go_v about_o here_o to_o enstruct_v we_o also_o the_o sum_n whereof_o be_v that_o he_o rest_v whole_o in_o the_o hope_n of_o god_n mercy_n and_o
