some_o regard_v they_o be_v not_o afraid_a of_o it_o ans._n for_o death_n be_v a_o enemy_n to_o nature_n it_o be_v none_o to_o grace_n but_o when_o i_o speak_v comfort_n not_o of_o grace_n and_o glory_n but_o of_o nature_n have_v not_o nature_n great_a cause_n to_o tremble_v at_o death_n when_o it_o be_v a_o enemy_n to_o nature_n even_o to_o right_a nature_n it_o be_v the_o king_n of_o fear_n friend_n can_v part_v without_o grief_n how_o shall_v these_o bosom-friend_n these_o unite_a friend_n body_n and_o soul_n part_n without_o grief_n this_o marriage_n between_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o body_n can_v be_v disunite_v without_o exquisite_a pain_n be_v old_a acquaintance_n again_o nature_n abhor_v death_n it_o hinder_v we_o of_o all_o employment_n it_o hinder_v of_o all_o service_n of_o god_n in_o church_n and_o commonwealth_n and_o so_o grace_v which_o employment_n be_v beyond_o nature_n do_v a_o little_a desire_n the_o continuance_n of_o life_n but_o nature_n even_o out_o of_o no_o sinful_a principle_n it_o see_v that_o now_o i_o can_v serve_v god_n no_o long_o i_o can_v do_v god_n no_o more_o service_n i_o can_v do_v good_a no_o long_o in_o this_o world_n and_o therefore_o it_o take_v it_o to_o heart_n our_o savour_n say_v while_o you_o have_v light_a walk_v the_o night_n come_v when_o no_o man_n be_v able_a to_o work_v the_o night_n of_o sickness_n and_o death_n so_o

it_o and_o then_o in_o death_n nature_n consider_v the_o state_n of_o the_o body_n present_o after_o grave_n death_n that_o that_o goodly_a body_n that_o strength_n and_o vigour_n i_o enjoy_v before_o must_v now_o be_v wormsmeat_n i_o must_v say_v to_o the_o worm_n thou_o be_v my_o brother_n and_o to_o corruption_n thou_o be_v my_o mother_n and_o the_o like_a as_o it_o be_v in_o job_n that_o head_n that_o perhaps_o have_v rule_v the_o commonwealth_n the_o place_n where_o i_o live_v it_o must_v lie_v level_a with_o other_o and_o that_o body_n that_o other_o be_v enamour_a with_o it_o must_v now_o be_v so_o forlorn_a that_o the_o sight_n of_o it_o will_v not_o be_v endure_v of_o our_o best_a friend_n nature_n consider_v what_o the_o estate_n will_v be_v there_o that_o it_o shall_v turn_v to_o good_a of_o his_o church_n be_v god_n child_n sensible_a of_o death_n and_o the_o danger_n of_o it_o and_o out_o of_o a_o principle_n of_o nature_n and_o grace_n too_o how_o then_o shall_v carnal_a desire_n and_o both_o good_a in_o their_o kind_n so_o a_o man_n in_o the_o time_n of_o sickness_n and_o death_n he_o may_v by_o all_o mean_n desire_v to_o escape_v it_o and_o tremble_v at_o it_o out_o speak_v we_o ought_v beforehand_o to_o look_v up_o to_o god_n and_o desire_v his_o spirit_n to_o be_v effectual_a in_o we_o that_o we_o may_v speak_v in_o the_o wisdom_n and_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o likewise_o that_o it_o may_v be_v effectual_a to_o they_o that_o they_o may_v acknowledge_v it_o that_o they_o may_v feel_v in_o their_o soul_n and_o conscience_n the_o power_n of_o live_v in_o the_o church_n and_o see_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n god_n give_v they_o a_o place_n in_o the_o conscience_n of_o those_o that_o they_o live_v among_o and_o deal_v with_o and_o they_o seek_v more_o to_o have_v place_n in_o their_o conscience_n then_o in_o their_o fancy_n then_o in_o their_o opinion_n and_o imagination_n and_o humour_n a_o carnal_a man_n so_o he_o may_v have_v the_o humour_n the_o fancy_n and_o imagination_n of_o his_o hearer_n delight_v he_o regard_v not_o what_o inward_o they_o may_v feel_v from_o he_o he_o regard_v not_o how_o he_o warm_v their_o heart_n and_o conscience_n and_o how_o they_o acknowledge_v he_o within_o and_o therefore_o perhaps_o if_o he_o have_v a_o good_a word_n for_o the_o present_a oh_o a_o glorious_a man_n etc._n etc._n it_o be_v all_o he_o care_v for_o but_o he_o have_v no_o place_n in_o their_o conscience_n because_o they_o feel_v he_o not_o work_v there_o and_o he_o have_v no_o aim_n to_o be_v there_o a_o good_a man_n seek_v to_o edify_v and_o build_v up_o
the_o conscience_n in_o sound_a principle_n in_o good_a course_n in_o the_o faith_n of_o christ_n in_o holy_a obedience_n thing_n that_o will_v hold_v out_o in_o life_n and_o death_n if_o i_o be_v to_o speak_v to_o minister_n i_o will_v enlarge_v the_o point_n further_o let_v we_o all_o in_o our_o conversation_n labour_v rather_o to_o approve_v ourselves_o to_o the_o conscience_n of_o man_n that_o they_o may_v acknowledge_v we_o to_o be_v honest_a downright_a conscience_n faithful_a man_n rather_o than_o to_o please_v their_o humour_n and_o fancy_n for_o as_o solomon_n say_v he_o that_o tell_v a_o man_n the_o truth_n shall_v have_v more_o favour_n at_o the_o last_o than_o he_o that_o dissemble_v for_o his_o conscience_n will_v witness_v that_o he_o have_v deal_v right_o and_o faithful_o with_o he_o that_o he_o be_v a_o honest_a man_n and_o go_v on_o in_o the_o same_o principle_n still_o let_v we_o therefore_o first_o look_v to_o our_o own_o conscience_n and_o then_o to_o shall_v we_o approve_v ourselves_o to_o god_n and_o to_o jesus_n christ_n at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n there_o be_v no_o man_n but_o a_o sound_n christian_n that_o approve_v himself_o to_o the_o they_o will_v yet_o in_o the_o conscience_n of_o other_o man_n they_o have_v no_o place_n for_o they_o live_v not_o as_o s._n paul_n say_v here_o in_o simplicity_n and_o sincerity_n not_o by_o carnal_a wisdom_n but_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n this_o be_v the_o benefit_n that_o a_o good_a man_n have_v in_o this_o life_n that_o howsoever_o he_o have_v the_o ill_a word_n of_o carnal_a
