bring_v low_a and_o make_v soft_a and_o make_v sick_a of_o my_o sin_n so_o that_o i_o be_o prepare_v for_o the_o heal_n and_o comfort_v work_n that_o sharp_a two_o edge_a sword_n of_o the_o word_n have_v pierce_v so_o deep_a and_o make_v such_o work_n such_o wound_n in_o my_o heart_n that_o now_o the_o oil_n be_v more_o need_v and_o the_o balm_n to_o heal_v my_o wound_n o_o it_o be_v matter_n of_o trouble_n and_o sadness_n of_o heart_n to_o find_v no_o more_o such_o sad_a soul_n and_o sorrow_n bite_v heart_n than_o we_o can_v either_o see_v or_o hear_v of_o in_o the_o world_n it_o be_v seldom_o therefore_o i_o say_v that_o there_o be_v too_o much_o of_o this_o sorrow_n that_o trouble_n for_o sin_n rise_v too_o high_a but_o yet_o sometime_o and_o in_o some_o case_n it_o may_v be_v so_o there_o may_v be_v a_o excess_n of_o sorrow_n for_o sin_n christian_n may_v be_v press_v down_o over_o measure_n they_o may_v be_v swallow_v up_o of_o overmuch_a sorrow_n as_o the_o apostle_n intimate_v and_o will_v have_v prevent_v 2_o cor._n 2.7_o comfort_v such_o a_o one_o lest_o perhaps_o he_o shall_v be_v swollow_v up_o of_o overmuch_a sorrow_n therefore_o in_o this_o case_n there_o must_v be_v limit_n set_v to_o our_o sorrow_n and_o it_o must_v be_v hold_v within_o these_o limit_n it_o must_v be_v so_o much_o only_o as_o may_v not_o hinder_v the_o exercise_n of_o other_o grace_n and_o duty_n it_o must_v neither_o hinder_v our_o hope_n nor_o hinder_v our_o faith_n nor_o our_o love_n no_o nor_o our_o joy_n in_o the_o lord_n it_o shall_v be_v with_o christian_n in_o this_o case_n as_o with_o the_o apostle_n in_o another_o case_n 2_o cor._n 6.10_o as_o sorrow_v yet_o always_o rejoice_v sorrow_v yet_o believe_v sorrow_v yet_o hope_v cast_v down_o yet_o comfort_v it_o and_o love_n and_o praise_n and_o serve_v the_o lord_n 2._o affliction_n this_o be_v another_o object_n of_o sorrow_n the_o degree_n and_o limit_n of_o this_o be_v 1._o that_o we_o sorrow_n not_o so_o little_a but_o that_o we_o have_v a_o due_a and_o a_o deep_a sense_n of_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o lord_n upon_o we_o otherwise_o we_o despise_v the_o chastn_n of_o the_o lord_n which_o the_o apostle_n forbid_v heb._n 12.5_o despise_v not_o thou_o the_o chastn_n of_o the_o lord_n by_o affliction_n i_o mean_v here_o the_o suffering_n of_o this_o life_n cross_n and_o loss_n of_o estate_n of_o friend_n husband_n wife_n child_n or_o near_a relation_n suffering_n in_o our_o person_n by_o sickness_n pain_n languish_v and_o the_o like_a these_o must_v be_v grieve_v for_o god_n complain_v jer._n 3.5_o i_o have_v smite_v they_o but_o they_o have_v not_o grieve_v it_o be_v their_o sin_n that_o they_o do_v not_o sorrow_n 2._o that_o we_o sorrow_n not_o so_o much_o as_o to_o sink_v under_o our_o sorrow_n that_o we_o be_v not_o swallow_v up_o of_o overmuch_a sorrow_n as_o we_o may_v not_o slight_a or_o despise_v the_o chastning_n of_o the_o lord_n so_o we_o may_v not_o faint_v when_o we_o be_v chasten_v the_o apostle_n tell_v we_o 2_o cor._n 7.10_o that_o worldly_a sorrow_n the_o sorrow_n of_o worldly-man_n for_o their_o worldly_a cross_n work_v death_n it_o sometime_o kill_v their_o body_n so_o depress_v with_o sorrow_n but_o that_o we_o still_o keep_v our_o heart_n alive_a and_o to_o be_v of_o good_a courage_n 3._o not_o as_o man_n without_o hope_n we_o must_v sorrow_n for_o all_o our_o affliction_n but_o as_o the_o apostle_n will_v have_v christian_n sorrow_n for_o the_o dead_a 1_o thess_n 4.13_o sorrow_n not_o say_v he_o as_o other_o which_o have_v no_o hope_n the_o righteous_a have_v hope_n in_o his_o heart_n and_o his_o hope_n must_v moderate_v his_o sorrow_n this_o sad_a state_n will_v not_o last_v always_o there_o be_v hope_n of_o a_o end_n of_o his_o affliction_n and_o that_o shall_v moderate_v his_o sorrow_n the_o righteous_a have_v hope_n in_o his_o death_n prov._n 14.32_o and_o have_v this_o double_a hope_n 1._o that_o death_n will_v put_v a_o end_n to_o his_o sorrow_n 2._o that_o the_o end_n of_o his_o sorrow_n shall_v be_v the_o beginning_n of_o everlasting_a joy_n and_o in_o this_o hope_n he_o must_v comfort_v himself_o under_o his_o suffering_n and_o moderate_v his_o sorrow_n for_o they_o 4._o always_o as_o man_n that_o have_v worse_a matter_n to_o sorrow_n for_o the_o least_o sin_n be_v a_o worse_a evil_n than_o the_o great_a
